Translation:
A day passes by and another day goes by
I thought I had forgotten you
Hurting and hurting I stay up another night
Everything I think about is all you

Taking one step at a time slowly
Afraid you might not be able to find me
Waiting for you in that spot
I'm hating my love even more

I must know that it's so tough my heart wants to die
I keep searching for traces of you
When I close my eyes, all I can see is you
I must not be able to forget you

You're a person that's left, you're a person that's changed
I'm not going to just blurt things out
Such a waste of a conversation
Are you listening, do you know?
Every night I'm sniffling from illness all alone
Trying to make a habit of completely erasing everything
The way I see things now is you're the weaker one

I try hiding my tears and swallowing our memories
But it still remains in my heart again
I start to call your name again
I guess I just can't help myself

I must know that it's so tough my heart wants to die
I keep searching for traces of you
When I close my eyes, all I can see is you
I must not be able to forget you

Even if I'm to laugh and cry a thousand times
I'm going to go on living my life loving only you
It's ok if love makes me cry
Because I still have our memories

I try to erase everything but all that's left in my heart is pain
I close my eyes and cover my mouth
But all I see is you

I must know that it's so tough my heart wants to die
I keep searching for traces of you
When I close my eyes, all I can see is you
I must not be able to forget you

Both my eyes are worn out from tears
When all your memories and times spent with you passes
Cherish only all our good memories
I'm happy with just that

Si, lo so, non mi dite niente. Mi fisso! Mi fisso sulle canzoni, sui progetti, sulle storie, sui programmi... insomma su tutto.

Salut...

I look into the window of my mind
Reflections of the fears I know I've left behind
I step out of the ordinary
I can feel my soul ascending
I am on my way
Can't stop me now
And you can do the same
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
It's never too late to try
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
You could be so many people
If you make that break for freedom
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
Still so many answers I don't know
Realise that to question is how we grow
So I step out of the ordinary
I can feel my soul ascending
I am on my way
Can't stop me now
And you can do the same
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
It's never too late to try
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
You could be so many people
If you make that break for freedom
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
We need a change
Do it today
I can feel my spirit rising
We need a change
So do it today
'Cause I can see a clear horizon
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
So what have you done today to make you feel proud?
'Cause you could be so many people
If you make that break for freedom
So what have you done today to make you feel proud?
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
What have you done today
You could be so many people?
Just make that break for freedom
So what have you done today to make you feel proud?

Faceless singer Zia finally unveils her identity with the release of her first full-length album Road Movie. The singer attained fame as the angelic voice behind such hits as Mulggeureomi featured in her debut single Voice of Heaven. Three of the best known composers in K-pop, namely, Cho Young Soo, Min Myung Ki, and Park Sung Yoon, join forces with top-rated lyricists like Ahn Young Min, Kim Hye Seon, and Yoon Sara to make an album filled with beautiful heartrending melodies and words.

Featuring the majestic surround sound of a 40-person orchestra, the soft lyrical piano melody of the album's principle track Sarang hae Mi ahn hae ("Love You, Sorry" - Track 3) is in perfect tune with Zia's heart-tugging vocals. Skirting along a similar path is the sad ballad Nan heng bok hae ("I'm Happy" - Track 1). One of the album's highlights is Geu dae man bo yeo yo ("I See You Only" - Track 5) which features Big Bang's TOP showcasing his rap talent. Other noteworthy tracks include the mid-tempo ballad Na ur ddeuk hae ("What To Do" - Track 2), the mid-tempo dance track Mon bal chi, and the beautiful ballad Uhm ma mi ahn hae yo ("Mom, I'm Sorry" - Track 7).

The Fall of Musharraf

The Fall of Musharraf

Rasul Bakhsh Rais

President Pervez Musharraf has departed, having resigned to escape the humiliation of impeachment. Yet another painful chapter of Pakistan’s political history has been closed, ending the political uncertainty the country has been facing for the past five months.

Why painful? It may be considered a polite expression for an era when the General-President overthrew an elected government to save his position as the Chief of Army Staff. At least in previous military interventions there was a political crisis and some kind of government breakdown. That was not the case on October 12, 1999.

The ruling party had a comfortable two-thirds majority in the National Assembly and all political parties with remarkable consensus had passed the 13th Amendment to the Constitution. Pakistan was on the road to democratic recovery but with the usual traits of autocracy that are embedded in the country’s political culture.

Musharraf came to power and ruled the country only as COAS, like his three predecessors. His uniform was his first line of defence and the army an instrument of self-empowerment and control. The day he doffed his uniform, he was no longer the master of his or the country’s fate.

The loss of the army’s institutional power was effectively the beginning of the end. Musharraf kept the uniform as long as he could, given the simmering resentment inside the army and outside, there was no option but to let go of that office.

Like Ayub Khan and Zia-ul Haq, Musharraf did three things to ensure his political survival: strengthened the power of the presidency through amendments (Ayub wrote a new presidential constitution); attempted to gain popular legitimacy through a rigged referendum; and created a political party — the PMLQ. As we can see from the unfolding of political events since his stepping down as COAS, and also in light of what happened to former military rulers, the manufactured political arrangements did not lost very long.

With the fall of Musharraf, Pakistan will be reverting back to a parliamentary form of government for the third time. It is remarkable that Pakistan’s democratic forces have a national consensus on three structural aspects of the political system: sovereignty of parliament, federalism and representative democracy. All these aspects have suffered greatly and our growth as a democratic polity has been stunted during the three long spells of military rule.

Disruption of democratic politics prevented the formation of a natural balance among institutions and the firming up of constitutional politics. The rise of ethnic conflict, sectarianism, militancy and extremism are some of the troubling legacies of military rule in Pakistan.

It bears repeating at this point what I have mentioned quite often in these pages: military rulers have left Pakistan in worse shape than when they took over.

So what really pulled Musharraf down from his throne? Perhaps his own follies are responsible for his ignoble exit, as he begged foreign powers to help him get an honourable way out.

One constant theme in human history is that arrogant rulers always underestimate their opponents and have unwavering belief in their power to destroy anyone who crosses them or stands in their way. History is replete with many examples how the weak and the ordinary finally threw the tyrants out, with some meeting more humiliating ends than others. Our own history contains many lessons; but who really cares when everything is bent to the will of the ruler, including the Constitution, the courts and all state institutions.

The threat of brute force, political manipulation, use of for-sale political opportunists, and manufactured consent have proven temporary and weak instruments of power. In our culture, we often blame the victim — when military rulers capture the state, we unfairly find faults with the Pakistani society.

All military regimes have been a common enterprise between an ambitious COAS and political opportunists willing play along to enjoy privileges of power.

It is true that civil society, democratic forces and the media in the past have been weak, and the opportunist syndicate faced little and fragmented opposition. Only the political and civil society groups of the smaller provinces put up consistent and tough resistance to the military regime. They faced a double peril: loss of constitutional rights and provincial autonomy.

There will be debate in Pakistan on who really defeated Musharraf and his regime. The two major political parties of course will stake a bigger claim than others for the mandate they received in the elections and the political oppression their leaders and workers faced during the Musharraf years.

The real credit for causing Musharraf’s fall goes to civil society and the media, both new actors on Pakistan’s social and political scene. In all new democracies, where the transition from military to civilian rule has taken place, these two actors have proved catalysts of political change, and the agenda-setters and messengers of political forces.

The birth of issue-based civil society activism goes back to the rule of another military dictator, Zia-ul Haq when urban, middle-class women organised protests and changed the women’s movement forever.

This time around, removal of the Chief Justice of Pakistan and his detention along with his family members ignited the protests and demands for his restoration. Unlike the past, the lawyers and civil society groups had no provincial or urban-rural boundaries. It was a truly national movement, driven by the demand for an independent judiciary.

The dream of democracy and constitutional rule is as old as the Pakistan Movement. What Ayub Khan and his followers, right down to Musharraf, did was to rob the nation of its original ideals. Taking the dreams of nations and peoples and substituting them with personal interests is perhaps a greater offence than even their legal and constitutional crimes.

Pakistanis have consistently attempted to take their ideals and their country back by launching democratic movements; a fact frequently ignored by students of politics and history.

The current movement, the fourth in our history, has finally succeeded with two remarkable positive gains: power has been passed on directly to parliament and elected political parties; and this transfer has taken place through the agency of peaceful protest, legal and constitutional battles, and under the eye of an open and free media. With success and confidence, these are the factors that will refine and develop democracy in Pakistan.

Like the Democratic party in America, which is capable of snatching defeat from the jaws of certain

Like the Democratic party in America, which is capable of snatching defeat from the jaws of certain victory, I have seen fewer countries in the world that have the ability to waste historic opportunities like Pakistan has.

Much that I have been a critic of President Dictator Musharraf in Pakistan, I do have to give him credit for not having been the evil dictator that General Zia had been about 20 years ago. On top of that, I must laud retired General Musharraf for having the decency to step down, and resign instead of facing impeachment.

In that, he has shown greater courage and decency than either president Bill Clinton did or that I wish President George Bush would show.

Some of the statements in his farewell speech were laughable. But, one also has to understand how difficult it must be for any president, much less a dictator, especially one who suffers from a savior complex that Musharaff did, to step down.

But all is well that ends well. And one has to say that the Musharraf presidency and role in Pakistani politics has run its course. For better or worse he is now a part of history. Now it is up to the Pakistani coalition government as well as the Pakistani population to decide where they want to go from here.

Will Mr. Zardari and Mr. Sharif, the two men in power for now, do the right things for Pakistan? Will they have the good sense, decency and moral courage to put their own political ambitions aside and focus on putting Pakistan on the right track?

In this case, the right track that Pakistan needs to be on is, in reality, a long and winding road - of several interconnected and sometimes opposing paths!

On the one hand Pakistan has to do everything in its power to curtail the evil of fundamentalism and lawless terrorism that has become the norm. On the other hand it also has to stand up for its national self-interest, even if that means standing up to United States pressure.

Pakistan has to ensure that education of the masses, especially in the rural areas is a high priority. But, it cannot be done at the expense of economic development in the major cities. It needs to ensure the provinces get their fair share of revenues and development funds, but not at the expense of idiots holding up building of dams and power plants needed to survive, much less thrive, in coming years.

I am personally a big proponent of considering dictators and their supporters punishable by death when they overthrow an elected government. However, we also have to remember that the so-called elected rulers of Pakistan generally have themselves been guilty of becoming "elected dictators".

So, yes, there is some value to charging Mr. Musharraf with treason, which he did commit, in overthrowing the government of Mr. Sharif. This is especially true if the Pakistani people seriously want future generals and dictator wannabes to have the deterrent of death staring them in the face, should they decide to overthrow an elected government. But, at the same time, I realize that the Pakistani army is not going to stand by and watch one of its own actually be hanged.

I am also quite certain that Mr. Musharraf and his partners in crime, including bureaucrats, and people like Mr. Shaukat Aziz, have played a major role in plundering the economy of Pakistan, playing the stock market, and manipulating commodity prices to their own benefit. However, these are crimes that have been committed by every single government, and every single ruler, in Pakistan.

So, if we want to jail or imprison Mr. Musharraf, we should be ready, willing, and able to do the same for Mr. Sharif as well as Mr. Zardari. After all, neither Mr. Musharraf, nor Mr. Sharif, were ever given the name Mr. 10% that Mr. Zardari is commonly known as.

In the immediate future the biggest threat to Pakistani democracy and being on the right track does not come from the Army or from any external threat. The biggest internal risk to Pakistani democracy would come from the politicians starting infighting for greed and personal ambition.

Let us all hope for the best and make sure we keep the pressure on these new rulers to follow the rules. Let us pray that this historic opportunity is also not squandered by politicians, bureaucrats and illiterate followers of fundamentalist murderers.

What do you think?

As Pakistan tries to get rid of one military man, The Times offers an explanation as to how another

As Pakistan tries to get rid of one military man, The Times offers an explanation as to how another one departed the scene:

The Times has uncovered a far less complicated explanation. According to US investigators, a mechanical problem, known to be relatively common with the C-130 military transport aircraft, was to blame. “There were a lot of conspiracy theories and there still are, understandably in that part of the world,” Robert Oakley, who took over as US Ambassador after the crash and helped to handle the politically fraught investigation, told The Times. “

[...]

Mr Oakley identified the mechanical fault as a problem with the hydraulics in the tail assembly. Although US Air Force pilots had handled such emergencies, the Pakistani pilots were less well equipped to do so. “These pilots did not have much experience flying C130s and they flew so low,” he said.

I said [to the Pakistanis]: ‘You are all going to think this is sabotage but I do not have evidence of that . . . We think it’s mechanical failure. We have looked at the records of the US Air Force. We have found a number of failures – maybe 20 or 30 – where C130s behaved this way.”

Mystery solved? Of course not.

Get yourselves geared up for another one of my rants. Who knows? I might actually offend someone tod

Get yourselves geared up for another one of my rants. Who knows? I might actually offend someone today. Just kidding. That's no longer my first priority =D. Alright, seriously, here comes the nitty gritty. Prepare yourselves for a whole lot of PMS-ing and estrogen-induced ranting. Testosterone, read at your own risk. I've warned you.

It seriously sucks having a va jay jay. I won't beat around the bush. I've touched base on the topic once, but I failed to elaborate. It just sucks, particularly for the females in the entertainment industry (you knew that I was getting there xD). They start young, too.

Exhibit A:

Sure you could pinch their cheeks now. Sure you can say how cute their out-of-tune singing and simply choreographed dance is. Give them puberty (if they even last that long) and it's crunch time. What are the options? Stay cute, be ridiculed for lack of originality, and die away quietly or bring the sexy back, lose your fanbase, make an impression, get freaky old men coming to your shows. Or you could just quit this whole entertainment shenanigan completely. The last thing the K-industry needs is more people fainting or committing suicide on them.

Situation A:

I loved Kara when they debuted: Strong, sexy, talented, and edgy. SungHee left to pursue an education (thank God, someone with sense) and this is what the rest of Kara looks like? What the hell just happened? This is the kind of situation I find incredibly hard to comprehend: Strong and edgy debut with a cute comeback? It was so weak, I almost cried. Almost. Trying to mooch off SNSD's concept? We honestly don't need anymore "cute" themed girl groups. I'm choking.

Situation B:

Uh-Oh, I brought up the Wonder Girls. That can't be good in this blog post ahha. Let's see...they debuted with a "school girl" image. Nothing too cute, but nothing too sexy. Good enough, right? Then we all know what happened next: Tell Me. Once again, nothing sexy. Those outfits were beyond atrocious, please forgive this girl's humble opinion xD, but we all can see that they worked it. What next? So Hot. The girls attempt "sexy", albeit the "sexy" they were trying to do was meant to be more humorous than anything. Too bad their humor was drowned out by how hot they really got (sorry, fan girl moment right there...Damn you, TBJ photoshoot). A successful transition? I'd like to say so. Their image changed many times, yet they have still been well received by the public. I'm a happy wonderful. Oh the bias.

Soon to be...

Situation C:

They debuted looking cute, except unlike Sweety, they're pretty much legal. I'll prevent bashing from elaborating on the subject. They're working on a new album that's to be released around September/October. I'm dying to see their new image. Honestly. What with all the drama with this SMTOWN concert coming up, Papa SM must have something eye popping (in the positive sense) to bring these girls back from everyone's shitlist. Cross your fingers, ahjussis. Maybe you can see more than just panties come autumn.

Exhibit B:

Korean sex symbol Lee Hyori gets paid for looking hot. Who cares about the music? There are others like her, just...not as successful. She started off hot and she keeps it up. Reaction? The world can only embrace her more and more. Problem? She'll get old. Surgery can only do so much for a person. Who knows, maybe she'll pull a Madonna.

Man, my thoughts are scattered today. Damn jetlag. Anywho, the initial reason why I posted this was because of a particular thread on soompi. A certain member was talking about how disappointed she was with the Wonder Girls, their singing, and their image. "It had changed so much since their Irony days." Or something like that.

I loved Irony and hated Tell Me. It changed after a while, obviously (god I'm such a trendwhore), but I'm not stupid; of course I see where she was going with the topic. The argument that instigated several bashers and Wonder Girls' defenders was: "Irony was such a strong debut song: Challenging dance moves and actual singing skills were involved. Tell Me offered no singing skills and the dance was nothing special. The whole "JYP-telling-them-to-sing-badly" thing was crap." That's their opinion. Good for them. The argument brought out the best of some people, though.

It's hard to argue without being biased. The main point is: No single entertainer can please everyone, so you need to get over it. Stop wishing for artists to go back to how they were or diss them for their lack of talent in song and dance. You just end up looking like a sad little human. It's obvious that Tell Me and So Hot were meant to be chart toppers and not vocally challenging songs. Honestly, it's just how you look at it, so disregard my opinion and believe what you wish.

I still find it in myself to pity women in this field of entertainment. You're basically given about 3 options:

Sexy

Cute

Forget the image, show the real talent

Tight choices, hmm? As old as they get, cute and sexy will always stay alive, much to the delight of several men everywhere I'm sure. And I know how shallow we all are, so don't lie and say you'll outright support talent over looks. There are some people out there, but we all like eye candy. It's tough for the females with talent and lack the face/body for the real deal.
Is that why Zia had such a hard time getting some love?

Exhibit C:

She was the mystery singer with "the voice". Her singing is decent (in my opinion), but it wasn't enough for those netizens. She eventually shows her face and low and behold, she's not as hideous as we thought! After that, her sales had increased tremendously. How pathetic. It took her face to get real breakthrough success? What a shame.

Guys have always had it easier. Not only can they piss faster than us, not have to deal with pregnancy, not PMs on a practically regular basis, and put on whatever clothes while still managing to look good, but they can be fugly people, have talent, and still be well received by people out there. It blows to have a vah jay jay. Forgive the drastic subject changes. I'm still recovering my sanity.

THINGS TO LOOK FORWARD TO:

Wonder Girls New Album - September/October O__O

2 PM Boys debut in September

Oasis "Dig Out Your Soul" album release in October

Look out for my Big Bang 3rd Mini Album review as well. I have a feeling it won't go down well for some of you.
