From what I hear, that show's pretty big in a number of European countries - specifically Italy.

The live-action remake is being helmed by Takashi Miike.  Best known in the West for his cult shocker Ichi the Killer (yes, I do have a copy of that) and his cameo in 2005's Hostel, Miike-san has already proven that he can do something a bit more family-friendly with 2004's Zebraman.

Anyway, I've got a hunch this early that this will suck just as bad as the Hollywood bastardization of Speed Racer.  When it comes to turning anime series to live-action, only Japanese producers and filmmakers can pull it off (though the wretched Devilman film stands as an exception, being an attempt to emulate the eye-candy approach of Hollywood filmmakers in treating comicbook/ animated properties)

A Capcom game that has been and still is in the works has revealed a new character. The game, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Cross Generation of Heroes, combines fighters from both worlds. For those of you who may not recognize the characters in the video, you may have to travel back to the past. Tatsunoko is one of the oldest anime production companies. They worked on anime such as Super Dimensional Fortress, the original anime version of Speed Racer, as well as Neon Genesis Evangelion (co-produced with Gainax). Fighters from the Tatsunoko world of anime are Gatchaman, Tekkaman the Space Knight (宇宙の騎士テッカマン), Yatterman, and Neo-Human Casshan, among others. Holy shit what. A new Capcom fighter with Tatsunoko characters. It's going to be 3D on a 2D plane.

Really, what? What's next? SNK vs Nippon Ichi?

So far, two Capcom staples (Ken and Chun-Li), Casshern, and Ken Washio from Gatchaman are confirmed. I'm betting on Soul Taker, Tekkaman/Tekkaman Blade, Speed Racer, Samurai Pizza Cats, and maybe even a surprise Yatterman. This is going to be fucking incredible. Maybe the best fighter ever, in terms of pure awesomeness, assuming the right Capcom studio gets it.

If I can't play as Komugi, I'll be very disappointed.

Szajka ta kontrolowana jest przez tajemniczego Dokurobei, nieznanego z wyglądu szefa gangu Drombo. Głównym celem jest zdobycie mistycznego kamienia Dokuro (w nowej wersji - Pierścieni Dokuro) - mającego moc spełnienia pragnień osób, które go odnajdą. Złodzieje wyruszają w podróż bez ograniczeń, odwiedzając najbardziej egzotyczne miejsca na świecie oraz przekraczając bariery czasu i przestrzeni.

Yatterman to sympatyczna komedia anime, wypełniona sympatycznymi gagami z udziałem dobrze zarysowanych postaci bohaterów. Do legendy już przeszły tragiczne wypadki, jakie stają się udziałem pechowych złodziei, co odcinek karanych za nie wykonanie misji przez bezlitosnego szefa. Widać, że autorzy postanowili zmienić kilka rzeczy, by dopasować klasyczną produkcję pod oczekiwania współczesnych widzów. Główny bohater - Gan Chan - jest w remake leniwym i roztrzepanym geniuszem stojącym w opozycji do bardzo zorganizowanej i odpowiedzialnej Ai-Chan. Bohaterka jest znacznie słodsza niż jej poprzednie wcielenie.

Pozostałe elementy są bez zmian: nadal mamy do czynienia z serialem w którym scierają się dwie drużyny robotów (w arsenale Yattermanów znajdziemy różne mechy nawiązujące do zwierząt: Yatta-Pies, Yatta-King, Yatta-Pelikan, Yatta-Byk, Yatta-Panda, Yatta-Dojira i inne). Wisienką jest tu możliwość produkowania małych robocików przez duże mechy po nakarmieniu ich specjalnym, dodającym energii przysmakiem (w przypadku psa jest to kość). Gdy robot połknie przysmak uruchamiają się specjalne fanfary i z wnętrza robota wychodzą oddziały małych robocików. Na koniec spieszę z ekscytującą informacją, że w 2009 roku planowana jest emisja filmu kinowego Yatterman, wyreżyserowanego przez Takashi Miike. Aunque su profesión era la de escritor Toriumi, se relacionó mucho con el mundo del manganime sobretodo a lo largo de la década de los 70 dónde participó junto a Tatsunoko Production en varias series de animación como Yatterman o Gatchaman.

Recientemente se ha anunciado una nueva serie de televisión sobre Yatterman para este año y una película de Takashi Miike para 2009.

Novelist and screenwriter Jinzo Toriumi died of liver cancer on Thursday morning at a hospital in Shinjuku. He was 78. A funeral service will be held on the 20th.

Toriumi was involved in many television projects throughout his career, especially in animation. Until the late 1970s, he worked for Tatsunoko Production, planning and writing series such as "Science Ninja Team Gatchaman" and "Yatterman."
