Why are we conditioned to applaud when we hear sounds of clapping hands? Why do we shut our eyes at the sight of mirrors in horror films? Why do we droll when we smell our favorite cuisine fresh out of the kitchen? Anyone who has taken elementary psychology will tell you that this pehnomenom of the way humans act is known as classical conditioning, coined by Pavlov half a decade ago while experimenting on a poor, hungry, dog. Although conditioning is arguably the best way to control people's minds in a fascist dictatorship, it ultimately leads to a more peaceful and harmonious world in which all individuals act the same way during a previously conditioned situation, in this case the clapping after a great performance.

Should conditioning be allowed to use politically? It already has. The Green campaign started in Carter's administration has conditioned a crop of young and energetic tree huggers that propose radical alternative energy solutions every other day. Some of these propositions have been beneficial, but its history is nevertheless tainted by the green propaganda on the television and radio programs of the 80's and the 90's.

I suppose it all depends on perception.

The webcast was recorded Monday while the vote on the bailout was taking place in the U.S. House. The proposal was defeated 225 to 208.

In the webcast, the group discusses why the Treasury Department proposal was met with skepticism from Congress and the American public. Critics said it represented a bailout of Wall Street, according to Green, not something "that would affect main street."

Bell said, with anything, Americans wonder "what's in it for them."

The webcast participants analyze the impact of the political pressures, the proposed benefits of government ownership of the assets in the plan and the risks.

- "Wow, acho que meu administrador de redes é poderoso demais..."

Parece familiar? Os mais antigos no ramo vão lembrar de alguma situação em que "o-cara-que-saca-tudo-da-rede" precisou ser demitido ou simplesmente saiu por conta própria e a equipe de suporte deu a famosa "coçadinha na cabeça" se perguntando o que fazer com todo poder que foi dado ao administrador de redes. Agora imagine por um segundo que esse cara é o responsável pela rede de toda uma cidade, e apenas ele sabe as senhas de todos os roteadores, firewalls e toda a parafernália na qual os dados trafegam. Bateu um frio na espinha?

Mas não é história de terror. Aconteceu. As the attention in Washington, D.C. is on a Treasury Department proposal for a $700 billion bailout of major lenders, West LegalEdcenter and West Legalworks are providing some free resources for anyone involved in the mortgage and asset-related securities market to learn more about the bailout proposal.

First, a free white paper titled "The Impact of Securitization on the Legislative Proposal for Treasury Authority to Purchase Mortgage-Related Assets" was just written by Talcott J. Franklin.

He is the co-author of the Mortgage and Asset Backed Securities Litigation Handbook from West, and is a partner and head of litigation in the Dallas office of Patton Boggs LLP.

"Everyone has questions and anger with respect to who caused this mess and why no one acted sooner," Franklin writes.

"But the fact is, we have to act quickly to reduce the impact of this crisis. When Americans act together, we can overcome every challenge, and we will overcome this one. But if we fall into partisan bickering and the laying of blame, if we are motivated solely by self-interest and not the overall good, if we act rashly and without careful thought, the crisis will grow, as will the sacrifice required to remedy it."

Franklin adds, "This paper takes no position on whether the Treasury Proposal should be adopted, only that it can be improved. Many excellent points have been raised during the course of the hearings on the Treasury Proposal. This paper points out some additional issues for consideration."

In addition to the free white paper, a free live webcast titled "Bailout or Washout: An Analysis of the Treasury Proposal to Purchase Mortgage-Related Assets," will take place Monday, Sept. 29, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Eastern.

The webcast will address a number of questions, including:

• What would the Treasury own if it bought mortgage-backed securities?
• How will the oversight mechanism of Treasury's investments operate?
• What are the benefits of the proposal? The risks?
• What will determine the success or failure of this plan?
• How will the taxpayers be compensated for their investment?

Ich möchte im Laufe der nächsten Zeit immer mal wieder den einen oder anderen Punkt näher beschreiben und eine mögliche Definition samt Quellenangaben liefern. Vielleicht kann der eine oder andere ja Definition oder die Quellenangaben für die eigene Arbeit gebrauchen.

Sicherlich bieten sich an allen Ecken und Enden Diskussionspunkte. Ich freu mich, über jeden Kommentar zu dem einen oder anderen Thema....

Den Anfang möchte ich heute mit einem sicherlich elementaren, wenn auch 100.000fach behandelten Thema. Einem Thema zu dem Google 3.360.000 Suchergebnisse ausspuckt (Stand: 25.09.2008): Podcast bzw. Podcasting. Bitte beachtet, dass es sich hierbei um eine grobe Definition handelt, die beliebig aufgeplustert werden kann. Ich bin aber davon überzeugt die eine relativ gute, genaue und nicht zu umfangreiche Definition zusammengefasst zu haben.

Was ist ein Podcast?

Ein Podcast ist vergleichbar mit einer aufgezeichneten Radio- (Audiopodcast) oder TV-Sendung (Videopodcast), die als Datei auf einer Internetseite zum Download angeboten wird. Das Wort Podcasting ist ein Konglomerat aus den Begriffen „iPod" und „Broadcasting"[1]. Hier ist eine klare Abgrenzung zwischen einem Podcast und einem Webcast zu machen: Der Webcast ist eine Ausstrahlung, auch „Stream" genannt, die der Anwender live im Internet verfolgen kann und häufig von Radiosendern angeboten wird. Der Podcast hingegen ist „on demand", also auf Verlangen, abrufbar[2]. Eine eindeutige und einheitliche Definition von Podcasting geht aus der Literatur nicht hervor. Auf der einen Seite werden ausschließlich bereitgestellte Audiodateien als Podcasts bezeichnet[3]. Auf der anderen Seite wird der Begriff breiter verstanden, sodass sowohl die Zurverfügungstellung von Audiodateien als auch die von Videodateien als Podcasting verstanden wird[4]. Es kann sich dieser Ableitung des Wortes folgend sowohl um Audio- als auch um Videobeiträge handeln[5]. Gelegentlich findet sich auch die Unterscheidung von Podcast (Audio) und Vodcast (Video), die im Folgenden nicht berücksichtigt wird[6],[7].

Das Herunterladen der bereitgestellten Dateien ist auf zwei Wegen möglich: Zum einen kann jede Episode manuell heruntergeladen werden, zum anderen kann mittels eines Podcast-Klienten (z. B. iTunes oder iPodder), auch Podcatcher genannt, ein RSS-Feed (Really Simple Syndication) abonniert werden. Diese Kombination erlaubt es, automatisch die aktuellsten Versionen oder Episoden der abonnierten Sendung herunterzuladen[8]. Der Anwender hat die Möglichkeit die auf seinen Rechner geladene Datei direkt anzusehen bzw. anzuhören oder auf ein mobiles Endgerät (z. B. MP3-Player) zu überspielen, sodass es später an einem variablen Ort genutzt werden kann.

President of the Islamic Republic of Iran had these words to say during his striking speech at the United Nations General Assembly a few hours ago.

"The time has come for the IAEA to present a clear report to the international community on its monitoring of the disarmament of the nuclear powers and their nuclear activities"

The president of the Islamic republic stated that his government was open to dialogue and claimed the right to be handled according to international law. "The Iranian nation is for dialogue but it has not accepted and will not accept illegal demands," Ahmadinejad said.

A few hours before delivering his speech, Ahmadinejad listened to the address by G.W. Bush, a man who has threatened to bring the Islamic Republic to it's knees. He appeared pleasant and positive, waving several times toward the press gallery.

The US and Israeli senior officials did not reciprocate by honouring the Iranian people with their presence as their elected president addressed the assembly. The neo-conservatives absented themselves in shame.

According to IRIB, the president will attend the meeting of leaders of different faiths, a summit on Africa's development, a meeting with Iranian elites, Iranian expatriates in the US, American students and media as well as heads of other countries, during his visit to the United states.

An Anti Iran rally organized by a Zionist group of Americans started crumbling a few days ago as wrangles between the political parties started to tear the event apart. On the big day, the state of opinion resembled New York's beleaguered stock exchange floor as protesters carried placards denouncing the protest organisers.

The new G1 mobile device from T-mobile, HTC and Google is going to cost you a modest $179. For what it’s offering this is a reasonable and somewhat expected price- it runs just shy of the 8G iPhone 3G which would cost you $199 with a two year contract.

So when can you get your hands on the G1? October 22 if you’re in the states, in the UK you can expect to see G1s in early November, the rest of Europe is looking at a quarter one, 2009 release date; that means sometime between January and March. If you are currently a T-Mobile user you can pre-order your G1 and have it delivered to you when it arrives!

The phone is sim locked to T-Mobile although after it’s release in October, the Android mobile operating system will be available for download onto many phones under the open source provision. If you’re keen on the G1, then you will be looking at two different data plans. The first offers unlimited data but limited messages (not specified) for $25 a month. The second offers unlimited data and messages for an additional $10 a month. Both require you to purchase a voice plan in conjunction with the data plan.

The phone will support 2G (Edge), 3G and Wifi. It will work with both push and pull mail fetching, but will not support Exchange. They are leaving this open to third party developers to hash out for now. This means most crackberry addicts will not be converting to G1 addicts for the time being. The G1 was described during the webinar as being more of a consumer device that many enterprise users will want.

G1 can read word documents, excel documents and pdf’s. It also supports a web browser much like the recently released Google Chrome for Windows. During the webinar it was dubbed Chrome Lite because it is essentially Chrome but for a smaller screen.

So what cool things does the T-Mobile G1 do? It features a very customizable home screen, allows you to drag and drop apps, and includes a Window Shade that allows you to seamlessly switch between multiple applications running at the same time. The window shade works much like the tab running across the top of your screen when you are hopping between multiple remote desktop sessions in Windows.

The pull out keyboard features a dedicated search button as a reminder to us that, after all the operating system made for the G1 was created by a search engine based company!

For more information I would encourage you to catch a “re-run” of the webcast if you can. I am sure we are going to hear a lot more about the G1 from T-Mobile and Google in the next month. The two companies announced today that they have worked together on the largest marketing campaign that T-Mobile has ever ventured on! I can’t wait to see this! Stay tuned…

Following the press conference this morning, here are some details I thought were interesting:

Pricing for the G1 with T-Mobile will be $179 with a 2-year contract. Existing T-Mobile customers will be able to pre-order the G1 device and it will ship to their home as soon as it is available.

Availability of the device will be on October 22nd. T-Mobile talked about data plans starting at 25$ with unlimited web surfing and 400 text messages (35$ gets you unlimited for both). All data plans will have to be added to an existing voice plan with T-Mobile.

The phone will have support for viewing Microsoft Word and Excel files but there is no support for Exchange as of now. Adobe PDF documents will be able to be read on the device.

There is no desktop application for syncing the device and it's content on a computer but the device will sync with online services such as Google's calendar application and Yahoo!

The G1 will be simlocked to T-Mobile and users will not be able to use it as a modem device. The device will be available for customers everywhere where T-Mobile offers service and even without 3G coverage.
