To round out the week on TF2 news, Valve will host another Free Weekend to give people a chance to try The Heavy's new weapons on unassuming rookies. Download Steam and try it if you feel interested. I guarantee you won't regret it.

As you can see, this was just as Keikakku, which means plan, in Wapanese.

Since we already know what the next weapon will be, we might as well discuss what the new Game mode and "Meet The Class" video will be. Will it be Pyro, as once confirmed several months ago, or "Meet The Civilian", as a special surprise from Valve? I'll be on the lookout, because I have nothing better to do.

The unlockable for the Heaviest pugilists out there is the K.G.B. Any time a Heavy kills an enemy with the K.G.B he receives five seconds of guaranteed critical hits. This crit-boost can be used to punch and kill further enemies, extending the boost time. Alternatively, the Heavy can switch to another weapon and use the boost to take out an enemy at range. The Heavy's slow movement speed, and the K.G.B's slower swing speed, make it a risky prospect.

This is almost completely identical to a rumor floating around lately about leaked details of the new Heavy achievement weapons, citing a "slower crit based fist weapon, a Minigun that slows down enemies, and a sandwich that recovers health".

Those who have downloaded the Icon pack for the new achievements will find that most of the names already give away what they are, and how you get them. One, namely Konspicuous Konsumption, even helps support the unlockable sandwich theory, with the name "tf_heavy_eat_sandwiches.png".

What's truly surprising is the Spyalectical Materialism icon, which seems to have a Spy holding a pistol with a Silencer.

Could it be that Valve has already given away what may be a new weapon capable of making the Spy not useless after the new Pyro updates? We can only hope.

Sure, I didn't know who the guy was, but whatever, at least I can say I saw him.

Set for release through Compadre/Music World, this coming October 14th, artists including The Heavy, Snoop Dogg, Machine Drum, and Sonny J have teamed up to remix your favorite Cash hits! Sounds a little ridiculous but from what I have heard, they really succeeded in preserving Cash's originals.

It's really not too bad...almost..good? Listen for yourself.

Stereogum posted an mp3 mix for Memorial Day, and for the most part, it’s a pretty rawking sampling of new music.  A little lacking on diversity of sounds, but that’s how the indie-music world goes sometimes.

I put together my own mix for the weekend, which I’ve posted below. But because Windmills isn’t an mp3 blog (and because I’m feeling a bit lazy), you can’t download the tracks onto your computer in a convenient zip drive like you can with Stereogum’s. About half-way through, I also gave up limiting myself to the newest tunes/bands. I think the most honest mixed CDs assume a whole other type of timeliness anyway.

Obviously, it's a little late to call this a Memorial Day mix. It's more like a post-bbq digestion/sobering-up/back-to-the-grind mix. Whatever it is, enjoy.

Na czas festiwalu Era Nowe Horyzonty (17-27 lipca 2008 r) zabytkowy wrocławski ARSENAŁ (400 metrów od kina Helios) zamieni się w klub festiwalowy ze specjalną strefą chill-out i codziennymi wieczornymi koncertami zagranicznych zespołów oraz setami dj-ów. Zapowiada się spora uczta muzyczna. Wystąpią m.in.: Coldcut Journeys By VJ oraz wrocławski Skalpel Sound Spectrum; islandzki wokalista, „mistrz gitary akustycznej i laptopa“ - Mugison, indie-popowy, współpracujący z Mike’iem Pattonem norweski zespół Kaada; a także gwiazda dubstepu - Kode 9.

Zapowiadana jest również jeszcze jedna gwiazda oraz niespodzianka na koniec imprezy.

Znamy kolejną gwiazdę trzeciej edycji Festiwalu Nowa Muzyka w Cieszynie (27-29 czerwca). Ostatniego dnia imprezy na scenie pojawi się kanadyjska grupa Holy Fuck, której ubiegłoroczny występ podczas festiwalu Glastonbury uznany został za jeden z trzech najlepszych koncertów tej imprezy.

Grupa powstała cztery lata temu w Toronto. W roku 2005 światło dzienne ujrzała debiutancka płyta „Holy Fuck”, oceniona przez kanadyjski magazyn Montreal Mirror jako jeden z dziesięciu najbardziej udanych krążków roku. Od tej chwili zespół zaczął intensywnie koncertować, zachwycając publiczność kolejnych festiwali swoimi skłonnościami do improwizacji oraz wyjątkowych połączeń tradycyjnego rockowego instrumentarium z nową, nieprzewidywalną elektroniką. W ubiegłym roku Holy Fuck wydali swój drugi krążek – „LP”, który promować będą podczas Festiwalu Nowa Muzyka w Cieszynie.

Przypomnijmy, że podczas Festiwalu Nowa Muzyka wystąpią również m.in. The Battles, Chris Clark, Jamie Lidell, Flykkiller, The Heavy, Neil Landstrumm i Robert Logan. Lista wykonawców wciąż nie jest zamknięta.

Podczas tegorocznej edycji Festiwalu Nowa Muzyka (27-29 czerwca) w Cieszynie wystąpi polsko - brytyjski projekt Flykkiller, promujący wydaną kilka miesięcy temu debiutancką płytę "Experiments In Violent Light".

Flykkiller to wspólne przedsięwzięcie polskiej wokalistki Pati Yang oraz brytyjskiego muzyka i producenta Stephena Hiltona (prywatnie męża Pati). W październiku ubiegłego roku na rynku pojawił się długo oczekiwany krążek "Experiments In Violent Light", na którym muzycy Flykkiller łączą zimne elektro, trip-hop, mroczne downtempo czy nawet muzykę taneczną - wszystko okraszając wyjątkowym głosem Pati Yang oraz ascetyczną produkcją Hiltona.

Flykkiller wystąpi pierwszego dnia Festiwalu Nowa Muzyka.

Przypomnijmy, że cała impreza odbędzie się w dniach 27-29 czerwca w Cieszynie, swój udział potwierdzili jak dotąd m.in. Battles, Jamie Lidell, Chris Clark, The Heavy, Robert Logan oraz Neil Landstrumm.

I have been digging the sound out of Bath in the UK lately, okay... it has been my favorite this week. Though my favorites shift and change from week to week, it's only because there is so much excellent music that I find and that shines in this ever-changing and expanding world of music. So here come The Heavy, a co-ed quintet from the outskirts of Bath, England.

Drawing on influences from funk, soul, blaxploitation film soundtracks, and the gritty garage rock of the Sonics. Guitarist Dan Taylor and vocalist Kelvin Swaby became friends in the 1990s, bonding over a shared appreciation for vintage R&B and Jim Jarmusch films. Joined by bassist Spencer Page, drummer Chris Ellul, and keyboardist Hannah Collins, the two launched their own act -- the Heavy -- and began combining Taylor's distorted guitars with lo-fi samples, horns riffs, stomping percussion, and soulful Prince-styled vocals. The photogenic band made its studio debut in 2007, releasing several singles on the London-based Ninja Tunes label before issuing the full-length Great Vengeance and Furious Fire that fall. An American release followed in early 2008 on the newly minted +1 Records.I also have a download for you all, "Coleen," the excellent single from their new album.

29 czerwca, podczas Festiwalu Nowa Muzyka w Cieszynie zagra zespół Battles – jedna z największych obecnie gwiazd nowych brzmień, jednocześnie nadzieja legendarnej wytwórni Warp Records.

Swoją muzykę Battles określają jako "coś pomiędzy elektroniką a rockiem", dodając zaraz, że "Battles właściwie potrafią zagrać co im się żywnie podoba". I tak jest w istocie. Kreślone przez zespół muzyczne ramy porażają swym zasięgiem – w Cieszynie usłyszymy dźwięki zarówno eksperymentalne, jak i post-rockowe, momentami hardcorowe, innym razem elektroniczne. Podczas Festiwalu Nowa Muzyka (27-29 czerwca) Battles promować będą wydaną nakładem Warp Records płytę „Mirrored”, która okazała się jedną z prawdziwych sensacji ubiegłego roku. Koncert w Cieszynie będzie jedynym występem tego zespołu w Polsce.

What, you would prefer Scott Stapp singing over Dream Theater? That ain't getting nobody laid! And if it does you should probably reassess your standards regarding sexual partners.

Seriously, has anyone ever gotten down to Dream Theater? I'm a little obsessed with that now. Aside from their total lack of sexiness (both physically and musically), it seems like the odd time signatures would throw you off your groove. Just because you can fuck in 7/8 doesn't mean you should, you know? Unless you're Led Zeppelin and then you can do whatever the fuck you want.

So let me know if you have because if they have some silky-smooth material out there I want to know. And no accidental incidences, like you put on some D'Angelo and then the next album in your weird, sad little record collection happened to be Dream Theater. That doesn't count.

What the hell was I talking about? Oh yeah, The Heavy. Let's dig it.

The Heavy pochodzą z małego angielskiego miasta, choć ich muzyka jest wielka, i - co najważniejsze - mocna. The Heavy to mistrzowie przebojowych połączeń hip-hopowego pulsu z połamanymi, funkowymi samplami. Wszystko zaś okraszone błyskotliwym wokalem. Czy trzeba czegoś więcej?
