Goal:
~To successfully 'translate' ordinary text into binary of course!

Process:

Step 1. - Write out the text that you wish to translate. Let's use the example 'Fuzzy Wuzzy'. We want 'Fuzzy Wuzzy' to appear as:

Step 2. - Using the ASCII table, locate the characters one by one. Use the 'decimal' value for each character (usually charted as 'dec.'). F (capital 'F' no less!), u, z, z, y, (space!), W (capitalized), u, z, z, y.

So we have:

F = 70
u = 117
z = 122
z = 122
y = 121
(space) = 32
W = 87
u = 117
z = 122
z = 122
y = 121

Step 3. - Understand what a byte is. A byte is essentially eight bits. A bit in binary is a 1 or a 0. 1 represents an 'affirmative/yes' and 0 represents a 'negative/no'. Now, a byte looks like this:

Step 4. - Understand how numbers are indicated in binary. Numbers are indicated in binary essentially by using an eight-bit byte with '1's as 'markers'. In a byte, each bit 'position' carries a value. The positions are read from right to left.

A byte ----> 00000000

Bit positions and values:

*Notice that each new position's value increases x2. Also notice that the position the furthermost left is usually left without a value.

Now that you understand the values of each bit position, you need to understand how a number is actually indicated.

If the number you're after is, say, '4'...you indicate it in binary by placing a '1' in the bit position that indicates '4'. In this case, it is the third place from the right in the byte:

If it was an odd number, you would simply use '1's to 'add up' to the number in question. If the number was '15' for example, you would use the values of the bit positions (1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64) to find the number.

We can indicate '8' + '4' + '2' + '1' to achieve the value of '15'. Marking each value position with a '1', we indicate '15' as follows:

Step 5. - Write out your character values in binary! Now that you know how to 'add', find all of your character values (the decimal values of each 'letter' and space in your word or words) and indicate them in binary:

F = 70 (70 = 64 + 4 + 2 therefore 01000110)
u = 117 (117 = 64 + 32 + 16 + 4 + 1 therefore 01110101)
z = 122 (122 = 64 + 32 + 16 + 8 + 2 therefore 01111010)
z = 122 (Repeat as above)
y = 121 (121 = 64 + 32 + 16 + 8 + 1 therefore 01111001)
(space) = 32 (32 = 32 therefore 00100000)

Step 6. - String them all together! Now that we have our binary 'translations' for each of our characters, we will want to string them all together into a buffer! Our finished name, Fuzzy Wuzzy, in binary becomes:

Mal schauen, ob er da nicht zwei Mäuse mitnehmen wird.

Die Österreicher hingegen dürfen auf ihren neuen Quake Star Richard „noctis“ Gansterer, der vor einer Woche sich bereits einen GF Slot auf dem ESWC Austria erspielte, stolz sein. Mit vier Siegen und nur einer knappen Niederlage gegen Zhibo „RazerJ (bzw. Jibo)“ Fan, qualifizierte sich der Österreicher für die Playoffs und wurde somit den offiziellen Seedings gerecht. Dort jedoch musste er sich nach drei Maps dem ehemaligen F-Player Magnus „fox“ Olsson geschlagen geben und die Masters mit einer Top-8 Platzierung verlassen. Jetzt bleiben ihm noch einige Wochen Zeit bis zum Grand Final um den Turnier zu analysieren und die gewonnene Erfahrung in San Jose richtig einzusetzen.

Jedoch so schnell werden wir uns von den zwei Amerikanern nicht verabschieden, denn insgesamt gab es bei diesem Turnier drei ESWC Slots zu gewinnen und von 8 Spielern die die Playoffs erreicht haben, sind vier für den Grand Final bereits qualifiziert. Cypher und RazerJ bekommen die ersten 2 Slots, ob Zero4 oder czm den letzten Slot bekommen wird, ist noch unklar.

Der Sonntag beginnt für uns mit einer heißen Begegnung zwischen av3k und Cypher. Die Beiden kennen sich sehr gut aus den Quake 4 Zeiten und werden uns ein spannendes Duel zu Beginn des zweites Tages liefern. Im zweiten Aufeinandertreffen erwartet uns ein Klassiker - RazerJ (aka Jibo) gegen Fox, auch bekannt als fojji. Während im ersten Duell Cypher als klarer Favorit gilt, ist zwischen den alten Quake Hasen Jibo und Fox noch alles offen. Es verspricht also ein zweiter heißer Quake Tag zu werden, wir sehen uns im GTV! ;-)

So for my first post lets start off with a great tragedy. I was rejected. Full on, whole-heartedly rejected. So I think. There's this (there was this) girl, her name was Sarah (not really, but from now on I'm changing names). We used to go the to same High School until she left halfway through grad 8. But she still remained friends with one of my friends, which I was unaware of until the beginning of this year.Anyway the point of the matter is that she gave me her number about a month ago when I unexpectedly ran into her at a bus stop one morning. We did the small talk thing and then I got her number. So yeah I didn't text her for a month. I know; heartless right? I sent the completely wrong message. So now I've screwed it up.

I texted her yesterday afternoon, I was like: "Hey Sarah soz about the late txting, how ur holidays been?"

She replied with: "Hey my holidays have been great what about yours?"

I sent back: "Yea not too bad, lots of sleeping in and spending money, I've spent 250 so far lol."

Then nothing. Complete and utter rejection. THIS ISN'T HOW IT WAS SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN!!! It was supposed to be oh yea great wanna see a movie? Yeah sure, then I ask her out and I finally have a girlfriend!! But no. It'd didn't happen. So I'm currently sitting around thinking what do I do? Do I text her? Do I text her asap? this project was headed by the swiss musician rené bardet - for the first three records (the two heine records and the villon record) he worked together with orlando valentini and a certain andreas vollenweider. not much i know about orlando valentini - he seems to have played with various musicians over the time. he passed away a couple of years ago - as did rené bardet, who quit being a musician in the 80s and started to work in the media industry. but as all you (new agers) know, andreas vollenweider rose to international fame during the 1980s and is known now for his solowork as well as for his many collaborations. i have to admit that i always found it amazing the every household in california seemed to have at least one of his cd's (and one of kitaro, of course)...

but back to 1976, when the three of them published the francois villon record.

i have to admit i was first a little bit disappointed - it starts with an instrumental in the medieval-folks-y style - and it continues to have that kind of style - sometimes more jazzy - for the first couple of songs. well, of course my expectations have been high, since i was on the lookout for this record for a while. but this kind of updated medieval sounding style is just not my cup of tea... first it seems to me like the poetry and the music are rather parallel then together - not unlike the the villon record by richard lauffen i posted earlier (and that is still up). but somehow the poetry of villon seems even further away by trying to put it in a musical context that refers to a time very long gone. somehow it is like seeing shakespeare in an "authentic" performance and then seeing the movie romeo and juliet from 1996 (yep, the one with leonardo di caprio), where the original text (and consequently the play) suddenly makes sense again by moving the visual to the now. or to try to explain it differently: the first couple of songs / ballads seem to be made too obviously like "one sould make it" but seem like not...hm...to have been appropriated enough. but in a way it is interesting to note that the music refers to a time before the texts by paul zech were created... but then comes the last song on the first side - and suddenly it works. it is kind of a romantic, (pop-)ballad flavoured with a spanish guitar. and although rené bardet still declames the text, it is suddenly really poetry and music, together. and the same is true for the second side: it starts with a more blues-y number - which fits the words perfectly and continues to the most amazing track, sommerballade von der armen louise, which is...heartrending.

so - starting at the end of the first side and for the full second side the music and the words re-inforce each other - it's not just the music giving a nice background... but as usual i think you should listen to it for yourself. poesie und musik: francois villon, ripped from vinyl, including the coverscans (on the back-cover you see the three of them young and cute) you can get here. wikipedia informs me that there is a re-issue of this record planned, but i could not find any other source confirming this information, and andreas vollenweider does not even list this record in his discography on his website. and now make yourself a stiff drink and enjoy mister villons prose!

Right then.. let's start.

** create a new document that is 400x300 in size (we need ample space)

** create a circle by clicking and holding on the Rectangle Tool and clicking Ellipse tool on the Tools panel. It doesn't have to be a perfect sphere,but you can create that by clicking and holding and then press and hold on Ctrl + Shift while dragging. Basically, Ctrl and Shift can also help in creating symmetrical shapes and when resizing, helps maintain the proportion of the image.

** write a few words using the Text tool. After this, your screen should look something like this:

** select the two objects (circle and text, like in the image above) then, in the menu bar, click Text > Attach to patch.

** voila! :) after that, it may look like this (with the text on the side instead of on top)

you can fix that by selecting the image, and then click the Scale tool and rotating it so that the text is now on top.

Please note that you don't have to use circles all the time. You can use rectangles or any other shape, so you can achieve your desired effect. This is just a small part of other sorts of curved texts out there.

Saturday morning Mr E. picked me up at my apartment, while MR was at work, and we made what Dustin refers to as an "Adventure in Contraban" to pick up beer and fireworks. Again, MR knew where I was and who I was with - the wonder of text. And, again, nothing intimate. After the adventure he took me home so that I could get ready to go to the pool with yet another coworker (this 'adventure' as I choose to call them has fizzled because this guy changes his mind on an hourly basis and never follows through with plans we make). So I sat at home waiting for confirmation that once again he made better plans and left me behind. Giving up and heading back downtown to the Arts Fest where Mr E is waiting I get a phone call from the Other who canceled (shocker). Mr E and a few of his friends (very nice by the way) met up with me at the Arts Fest where more drinking and flirting went on. Now knowing that the friend coworker has an issue with us hanging out we decided to make things more interesting and play on that we had "fun" on our mini road trip for beer and fireworks. And that there was no porn available so we were forced to make our own at a roadstop. haha. The friend coworker is highly bothered by this and we are pleased. After the Arts Fest we walked to a friends house to drink and set off fireworks but stopped off at Mr E's house for more beer. Everyone else carried on to the friends house so we decided to play again. I messed up my hair and took off my shirt to show just my shorts and bikini top. Once we got there everyone kept looking at eachother and at us. God it is so fun to mess with peoples minds like that. hahahaha.
Sunday Mr E, coworker friend, and I went to see a movie (Kung fu Panda) and tried to go on a hike up the hills around here. The friends truck had issues so we couldn't go, but this didn't stop the fun. Mr E. drenched me in his canteen water and we decided to have a BBQ at his house on the porch. More drinking and eating with friends ended with the friends going to a neighbors house while we layed around his house playing on the computer and talking. Coworker friend came back to find me laying on the floor next to Mr E. So we started up a television show. While the show was on I laid on the couch next to Mr E and he ran his fingers along my back. I swear to god it was fucking heaven! Complete and total peace! Once the episode was over Mr E drove me home listening to old Ella Fitzgerald songs with the windows down in the car taking in the night air.

Today he texts me (midheated conversation- when I said that I think I pissed him off):

"you know how (the dog) can go anywhere in my garden, up to the street? That's like how it is talking to you. I just hit the street."

Explaining that he feels there are boundaries to talking to me, as a 'married' woman.

I asked him how he could not feel like he was hitting the street while talking to me and he said:

"I dont know. (The dog) is allowed to go in the street when I go with him."

And I responded that I have seen that and the dog practically RUNS through the street to get the hell out of it. His response:

"Because he knows he shouldn't be there."

At that point... I didnt know what to say. What do you say to that? So I said I was going to retreat quietly into my corner.

He said:

"Take this with you. To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world"

I know its not original words or anything, but... it stopped me in my tracks. Then it also scared the hell out of me because... I dont want to be anyones WORLD. I've been that, it leads to obsessive, abusive boyfriends and crazy partners that smother you to death (figuratively of course) even though you love them.

Sometimes I despair for myself.

Oh and I was going to tell you about D&G's new GF. That will happen... I'm still sizing her up.

Working with text

If you're working with text, and a text editing program, allmost all of them has a "autosave" funktion. Try googling it, and you'll find lots of different ways to different programs of activating it.
If you're in the problem now, and don't have time, try the screenshot. The prt sc, or print screen button, automaticly saves the image of your screen, and makes it avaible for later use. You can just open ms paint, press Ctrl+V and there you go, a lot of your items are back, all you need to do is write them back. On many stationary computers prt sc is a seprat button, but on many laptops, it isn't. In many laptops, you have to find the prt sc printed on a button, hold down the "FN" button like so - FN + prt sc. There you go!

Working with images

Well, this is more tricky. I'm assuming that your using a bit of a advanced program, because if it was just in ms paint, you did not want it to be restored that badly. You can try the print screen way, as described above,
or then check if you have a previous backup, if not, i think your pretty screwed.

To znaczy, że jeśli szwedzki obywatel będzie dzwonić i się umawiać z kimś na spotkanie to wielki brat będzie wiedział co i jak. Takie praktyki ogólnie stosuje się w niemalże wszystkich krajach, lecz są to praktyki niejawne.

Ustawa przeszłą minimalną większością głosów 142 do 138. Ustawie się sprzeciwiły różne partię, ich młódzieżówki, ale największy sprzeciw wyraziło społeczeństwo, bowiem to garstka rządzących chce za nich decydować.

To właśnie w imię „bezpieczeństwa” policja zbiła w nocy uczestników demonstracji przeciwko Tarczy antyrakietowej w Słupsku. No i to „bezpieczeństwo” nas kosztuje to, że każdy z nas podejrzewany bywa o morderstwo czy kradzież. Wystarczy mieć niewygodne poglądy, a będzie się takich traktować jak terrorystów. Szykuje się totalitaryzm jakich mało.

W DZISIEJSZYM ŚWIECIE TERMIN „CENZURA” ZOSTAŁ ZASTĄPIONY SŁOWEM „BEZPIECZEŃŚTWO”.

Lionbridge jest międzynarodową korporacją, ma biura na wielu kontynentach. W grudniu 2007 roku w firmie powstała komisja zakładowa Krajowej Federacji Pracowników, nowego związku zawodowego. Niedługo potem istnitnie związku i nazwiska jego członków zostały ogłoszone dyrekcji.

12 lutego 2008 roku Jakub G., przedstawiciel Krajowej Federacji Pracowników został dyscyplinarnie zwolniony, pomimo tego, że jego stanowisko pracy było chronione na podstawie Ustawy o ZZ.

Oficjalnym zarzutem było „ujawnienie tajemnicy przedsiębiorstwa”. Pracodawca przypisał Jakubowi autorstwo artykułu na portalu anarchistycznym o Lionbridge. Miał on rzekomo zawierać informację znane tylko dla samej firmy, lecz co ciekawe na stronach spółki Lionbridge są to ogólne dostępne informacje.

Jutro ma się odbyć proces przeciwko Lionbridge w warszawskim sądzie rejonowym, bowiem Jakub złożył pozew. Natomiast później ma się odbyć demonstracja pod biurem Lionbridge w Warszawie w obronie zwolnionego Jakuba.

W obronę Jakuba wzięło się również Międzynarodowe Stowarzyszenie Pracowników. Akcje solidarnościowe, które przeprowadzili anarchosyndykaliści, odbyły się już w Słowacji, Belgii, Francji, Portugalii. Wkrótcę mają się odbyć również w Irlandii, Hiszpanii i Norwegii.

Poczta Polska natomiast zwolniła Bartosza Kantorczyka, działacza Ogólnopolskiego Związku Zawodowego Inicjatywa Pracownicza oraz inicjatora strajku listonoszy w listopadzie 2006 roku. OZZ IP tak samo jak KFP to związek działający na podstawach anarchosyndykalistycznych. Te związki to nie są ugodowe sprzedawczyki.

Poczta Polska zwolniła Kantorczyka, który zgodnie z prawem domagał się podniesienia bezpieczeństwa pracy listonoszy i piętnował permanentne łamanie praw pracowniczych. Zwolnienie Kantorczyka narusza przynajmniej trzy ustawy: o związkach zawodowych, o rozwiązywaniu sporów zbiorowych i kodeks pracy. Od 31 stycznia 2008 Komisja Zakładowa OZZ IP przy Poczcie Polskiej znajduje się w sporze zbiorowym z pracodawcą.

Bartosz Kantorczyk jest jednym z najbardziej walecznych związkowców w Poczcie Polskiej w Gdańsku. To im przeszkadza. W mediach Kantorczyk zawsze nagłaśniał sprawę, prowadził już głodówkę. Musieli go się pozbyć, więc wyrzucili z pracy.

Niedługo ruszy ogólnopolska kampania w obronie Kantorczyka. 16 lipca odbędą się pikiety w różnych miastach. Trzeba nagłośnić przecież to, że Poczta Polska i Lionbridge łamią prawa pracownicze.

Na wokalach w Kubańskich Pomarańczach występuje Majkel z Koligacji Gie Ka i Ania Sool. Dalszy skład to Tomek na gitarze, Sylwek na basie, Radek na bębnach, a realizacją i masteringiem zajął się Alan Dirt.

Obecnie zespół ma na koncie "jedynie" trzyutworowy singiel, ale pracuje nad materiałem który będzie można usłyszeć na koncertach.

I did call and talk to ATT today to procure the fact that I can do an early upgrade (I switched numbers from west to east coast, and they f’d up my upgrade date) and they told me there WOULD NOT be any extra charge to purchase the iPhone 3G FOR ANYONE. By the Way, Apple no longer gets a percent of the monthly fees, so their say in pricing is gone. As far as I can tell this is all ATT.

Enterprise Data

One of the main features of the phone is its Microsoft Exchange compatibility. It’s a HUGE feature for anyone who has a blackberry at work. It means whole companies may be moving over to IPhones rather than the crack berries.

Data Plan

Texts
The business text plans are exactly the same as the residential.

Voice
Voice plans are exactly the same as with residential plans. You figure this by the voice plans amount, plus $30 for non-enterprise data.

You can also sign up for Business Pooled plans, but you need to qualify and be accepted. It is $14.99 more, but the minutes can be shared between multiple phones.

International Usage

The phones will work as any other tri/quad band phone would in a foreign country. I WISH you could get another network’s SIM card, but locked phone. To ATT. Makes me sad, I may inquire about this at the Apple Store.

Oh, and I learned the last time I was in the UK I found out ON TOP of all other call charges, text charges, what not, you are charged $1 every time you get a voice mail. For the visual voice mail feature (data… ) Aaargh.

Wrap-Up

Once again, no SMS Texts included with a normal plan. And 20 cents per text? Yea. Its only 50 cents to text the UK from the US (used to be 25?!?).

ATT is viscously raping America now that is seems Apple is not involved with plans at all… I’ll still buy the phone… But most likely I’ll wind up deactivating voice and finding a cheaper plan/provider, heh. $30 a month for more or less a little wireless laptop ain’t too bad.

I would like to add here, that Apple has done a crack up job with the phone. I like the look (but it is < than the 1^st gen), its got GPS, 3G, and most importantly (to me) a NORMAL headphone jack. Ahhhh… I can actually use my Sony MDR-7506s (I’m a slight audiophile, being a Live Audio Engineer and all) with the iPhone now. Rock.

At least we made out better than Canada.

What is true is that I like movies (I actually LOVE cinematography and absolutely am what they used to call me back in the States: "a movie buff"), but I think the review of this movie in this blog fits perfectly since nets are interesting elements of it at more than one level.

So let's roll but BEWARE! SPOILERS AHEAD!:

The movie itself is a poorly written action flick which is made disturbing in many moments because of the particular style (much almost-still slow-motion and a fetish for vibrating human flesh and superabundant skin above all) of the Kazakh director Timur Benkmambetov (a Borat fellow citizen).

In the movie the story is based upon the fact that there is a Confraternity of Assasins (I don't know if this is the actual english term in the movie, here in Italy we have the habit of giving foreign actors better voices) who get their orders from a loom which makes discrete errors in the fabric it produces which are then decodified making them correspond to a binary code (no need to understand that, its just bovine stool). The "moral alibi" the mentor gives for getting orders by a piece of linen is that the fabric represents the connections of all the people and the message about the victim and the consequential elimitation is a necessity inside Fate evolution.

This is the first part which I consider interesting related to Networks: in this movie the existence of each one of us is seen as the least part of a huge Net Work which can bee perfectly represented as an infinite textile work. Its interesting to see how this idea can be at the basis of diametrically different ideological doctrines like for example Socialism, Communism (the individual can just be seen as part of the community) and, opposite to them Individualism (we make our part in the society by being always a strong and self-enhancing individual, like the thread, just interacting occasionally with the others).

In the movie it is said that being the one who can read this aspect of reality and being able to act according to this knowledge makes you superior to all humans.

Another network the screenwriter of this movie should have been more aware of is the Script. As a text (word which is just one with textile in Latin, precisely textum, since language is just a network of meanings and symbols) the script should always be seen as a game of correspondences and recalls which has to interact effectively with an external element, the Viewer.

This approach lacks totally since it is full of dialogue bloopers (the girlfriend says he is missing since 2 months, he tells us he entered the Confraternity since 6 weeks), some shooting bloopers and really too many simplifications.

So this is my review, from a networks enthusiast point of view, a 6 out of 10 on IMDB, due also to some fascist ideas that lately seem to permeate many Hollywood works. I'd really appreciate to read your comments.
