Now it's only 10.30 am and I still have 3 tests to make, which take officially 2.5 hours before an appointment at 1 pm

• race home, grab my things and race to my computer
• start tests
• seeing I'm never going to make it in time, cause of the last test having no URL, calling my consultant explained it and moved the appointment to 1.30 pm
• finish last test
• race to bureau for Work & Income
• have my talk there
• race back to computer to do another test, improve my CV and write a motivation for a job agency and mail those and dig up certificates etc to make copies of those and send them also to the agency.
• little time to type some stuff here
• time to get baby Bau Bau from daycare

It's now 6 pm

 My cholesterol levels were high however. I had a total cholesterol level of 226 which is in the range (200-240) of borderline risk. My past results are 215 in December of 2005 and 199 in July of 2007. The risk of having high levels of cholesterol in my blood is for heart and blood vessel disease. As this level increases, the possiblity of clogging the arteries which would result in a heart attack or stroke.

My bad cholesterol or low density lipoprotein (LDL) level was 166 and this puts me in the high (160-189) range. My previous results were 148 (Dec 05) and 146 (July 07). Deposits of cholesterol form in the arteries when these levels are high.

My good cholesterol (HDL) level was 41. Previously I had 40 (Dec 05) and 33 (July 07). The good cholesterol takes away the deposits in the arteries.

My triglyceride level was 95. Previously I had 133 (Dec 05) and 123 (July 07). Normal levels are 35-160 so these are fine.

I should get those levels down a bit. I need to eat less fatty foods, exercise more, and I really think, eat less in general. I have a healthy appetite and love food, but as I get older, I should eat less. I am much less active than before, especially with three young children and a busy career.

The rest of the test was fine with two exceptions. The urinalysis, HIV, Hep B, and GGTP were all normal. In the hemotology, the two results that were abnormal were as follows:

RDW 11.4  low (11.5-16.5 normal) RDW refers to the Red Blood Cell distribution width. The red blood cells need to be within this width to properly carry oxygen.

Mono % 14.3 high  (1.7 - 9.3) The monocytes or white blood cell count was high but I think this reflects the strep throat infection I had in late June.

• This role is for a QA Engineer for our Budapest software engineering and quality assurance team. This candidate will be responsible for test planning, development and execution as part of our next-generation equity portfolio analytics product-development team.

Requirements:

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related discipline. Masters Degree preferred.
• Quality Assurance engineering experience on the Windows XP/Vista platform.
• Experience with test-case development, test automation, HP/Mercury QTP.
• Excellent communications skills and English fluency
• Proven ability to work independently and within a team environment.

Part 3 sees us create our first integration spec. I am going to take  which will test that there is a page at ".../Admin/Users/Register.pnx" and that the page has a title of 'Register'.

A bit of housekeeping - I have setup IIS to use a virtual directory called 'TimEscott.GrassRoots' which points to my web project directory, this virtual directory also has a ISAPI mapping setup on it for the '.pnx' extension, the file extension that I have chosen to use for my application, this is setup in IIS 7 using a script map.

This file extension for the application is configured in the web.config, we are also refusing access to the view files themselves.

Integration test class structure

I have setup a IntegrationSpecsBase class from which all my integration tests will inherit. This gives some common functionality for building up URLs to pages in my system and inheriting all the useful stuff in Monorails BaseControllerTest. Here is my IntegrationSpecsBase class.

The requirement that I am going to tackle first is #6 "For unregistered Users to be able to register". For this I will require a registration page on which a user will be able to submit some account details to create a new account. Now this is quite a large requirement and one which will need breaking down into smaller chunks before I can tackle it effectively. I am not going to document these smaller requirements here, I will let my code document them.

My User Registration specification

The intention of the naming of the class and the test is that it should be able to read like a sentence. So this should read "When registering a user <the> users controller should display the registration view". So the class name is very close in name to original specification #6. The intention is that the individual tests start to break down the over all requirement into smaller chunks that I can then go off and spec, test and then implement. I will experiment with naming the subject under test, in this case the UsersController, subject and see how I feel about that particular convention as things move on further.

As you can see from the screen grab re-sharper is complaining somewhat about the an undefined type, namely my UsersController. Well this will be because I haven't created it yet being test first and all! So to satisfy the compiler I will go an create the controller class, re-sharper finds the newly created type and asks if I want to add a using statement to my testfixture, I add the using but still the compiler complains, I need to make the new UsersController inherit from the Monorail SmartDispatcherController. Now the compiler is happy I can finally run my tests.

I have a few tools available to me to run the tests, TestDriven.Net, NUnit GUI or the re-sharper test runner. I am going to experiment with all 3 until I find a favourite. I will run this test suite by using TestDriven, I have bound "Alt + T" to TestDriven to run the tests in context. Here are the results at this stage.

Right, well I know that I haven't created the view, the action or put the text in the view. I was expecting the test to fail. So I am going to do the simplest thing I can to get the test to pass, I.e. Create the view, action and insert the text. After adding the new controller to the Windsor config, running the test again confirmed that I have satisfied this part of the overall specification.

Right that will do for this post, next time hopefully we will get a bit deeper into the architecture.
