Happy Monday! Wait what? Who says that....haha, well I did. Anywho, On Saturday morning, I found a great program that optimizes and speeds up your computer for how much? FREE! 3 Quick Ways to unclog your PC

Here are 3 quick and easy ways to clear your computer of unwanted items, software running in the background, and other small tweaks just to get your PC organised and running a bit more smoothly.

1. Remove unnecessary startup itemsGo to Start >> Run >> Type "msconfig" >> Click OK
Click the Startup tab
You will see a list of the programs that start up every time you start your computer
Uncheck the items you think you don't need.
Click OK

You may restart now or later to see the changes in effect.
If you want to include an item or undo the startup changes you've made, simply follow the above steps again and check the items you want to start with windows.

2. Remove programs you no longer use

Open Control Panel:
Windows XP: Start >> Settings >> Control Panel
Windows Vista: Start >> Control Panel
Switch to Classic View by clicking selecting it on the left panel (if you are not already in Classic View)
Now open the list of installed programs:
Windows XP: Double-click the "Add or Remove Programs" icon
Windows Vista: Double-click the "Programs and Features" icon
Select the program you want to uninstall and click Remove (Vista: Right-click on the application name and select Uninstall)Restart your PC if necessary

3. Organise your Start Menu

Right-click on your Start Button (The Widows Logo in Vista) and click Explore All Users
Open the "Programs" folder.This is a list of the items in your Start Menu. Here you can delete whatever shortcut items you don't need (for example readme shortcuts). It is also useful to create folders to organise your software such as "Multimedia", "Internet", "Office", "Utilities" then to move your shortcuts into the relevant folders. (To create a folder just Right-click on an empty space >> select "New" >> click "Folder" >> then type the name your require. The less items you have in your Programs folder, the faster your start menu will load.

###If you are going to uninstall a program that you took off of your startup list, RE-CHECK IT BEFORE UNINSTALLING THE PROGRAM, that is important, or it may not uninstall correctly.###
Also, if you are new to this, and don't know what the programs are, just leave them, better safe then sorry.

Removing some larger applications can also increase loading time a bit.
And again, if you aren't sure what you are doing, make sure you stay out of the services tab, and only use the startup tab.

Przypadek sprawił, że dowiedziałem się iż można z mojej karty Intel 940GML wycisnąć coś więcej. Kolega z pracy podesłał mi link do forum gdzie opisano jak tego dokonać (Dzięki Michał).

Sprawa okazuje się być banalna. Po przeczytaniu całego wątku dowiadujemy się, że trzeba dodać jeden wpis INTEL_BATCH="1" w pliku /etc/environment. Podobno powinien być jeszcze zainstalowany pakiet sudo apt-get install 915resolution. W efekcie użycia tego triku uzyskałem przyśpieszenie około 200 fps.

Thiết lập thông số kết nối tối ưu

Cấu hình OpenDNS như thế nào?

Bạn có thể cấu hình OpenDNS theo 2 cách: cấu hình trong router hoặc trong máy tính. Bạn vào trang http://www.opendns.com/start/ để chọn loại router hay hệ điều hành của mình để cấu hình cho chính xác. Có khá nhiều loại router được hỗ trợ như 2Wire, Apple, Belkin, Buffalo, D-Link, Linksys, Motorola... Nếu bạn không có router thuộc vào những loại đã liệt kê thì có thể làm theo hướng dẫn chung cho mọi router ở trang http://www.opendns.com/start/router.php.

OpenDNS còn hoạt động tốt trên cả các máy có tính năng duyệt web sử dụng Windows Mobile hay PalmOS.

Nếu bạn đang dùng hệ điều hành Windows XP thì làm theo hướng dẫn sau:

- Vào Start menu, chọn Control Panel.

- Nhấp đúp vào Network Connections.

- Nhấp chuột phải vào kiểu kết nối của bạn trong Network Connections, chọn Properties.

- Chọn Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) và click vào Properties.

- Trong cửa sổ hiện ra, bạn chọn mục “Use the following DNS server addresses” và gõ vào 2 khung “Preferred DNS server” và “Alternate DNS server” các địa chỉ sau:

- Nhấn OK để lưu cấu hình lại.

Sau khi đã thiết lập DNS server xong rồi, bạn truy cập vào http://welcome.opendns.com/ để kiểm tra xem đã thiết lập đúng chưa. Nếu được cấu hình đúng thì bạn sẽ thấy xuất hiện thông báo chào mừng đến với OpenDNS.
