Le plaisir d'écrire n'a pas d'âge. Sans un bruit, un matin, il transparaît dans les gestes, les envies, les regards... Il ne prévient pas mais s'installe. Face à la feuille blanche, l'inspiration nous prend et l'envie de combler ce vide de couleurs à lire, de parfums à déchiffrer, de musiques à jouer... est plus fort que tout. Chaque ligne tracée, chaque lettre dessinée laisse passer un peu de soi dans un désir fulgurant de création.  Et le résultat obtenu, sans que l'on puisse l'appréhender, comblera en instant l'envie irrépressible ou anéantira les efforts fournis pour finir déchet d'un talent illusoire.

Wenn sich Jugendliche und Einwanderer in Deutschland daran versuchen, eine deutsche Identität zu erwerben, stoßen sie auf einen sehr seltsamen Identitätsbegriff. Wir definieren uns kaum über positive Werte und ein gemeinsames Zukunftsversprechen, sondern über all die negativen Dinge, die es in Deutschland zu verhindern gilt: Wir sind gegen Faschismus und gegen die Benachteiligung von Frauen, wir sind gegen die Diskriminierung von Minderheiten, gegen soziale Ausbeutung, gegen den Verlust unseres Sozialstaates, gegen Umweltzerstörung, gegen religiösen Fundamentalismus, und gegen Krieg. Das ist sehr gut. Das ist beruhigend. Aber es setzt keine Begeisterung frei. Ein Verbotskatalog kann Vertrauen schaffen, aber er schafft keinen Raum für Zukunftsträume im eigenen Land.

Wenn ich in Bezug auf die Integrationsdebatten über diesen Ansatz nachdenke, wird mir klar, dass wir es schaffen werden, Menschen, die Deutschland als ihre Heimat gewählt haben, heimisch fühlen zu lassen, wenn wir uns positiver Auskrucksweise bedienen. Soeben schießt mir dieses Beispiel durch den Kopf: Ist das Glas halbvoll oder halbleer?

Descending on a plain darkened from war, the moon light bright enough to fully illuminate all of the wreckage that once was a picturesque valley. The cloudless night, dead silence, and myriads of bodies everywhere force the Countless to finish the fight themselves. Cowal, in his dark, creeping subtlety materializes from the shadows by a fallen comrade. Cowal, a well built, messy-haired, young man who looks like he hasn't slept in days and appears older than he really is. Noticing there is no pulse from anyone around him, he stands to see a shower of white rose petals have fallen over the surrounding landscape. "Enough with the theatrics, I know it's you Selene!" he yells into the night. Nearby, the rose petals falling begin gathering in the air to form a body, Selene, a stunning siren elegantly dressed in white with flowing hair, and white eyes almost as bright as the moon. With a devilish look on her face, she slowly walks toward Cowal. "Why did you even bother coming out here? There’s no way you can stop me. Unless you get to it first, which means you'll have to go through me!" Cowal appears to be disheartened, "Of all of them, I thought you would at least understand the meaning behind all of this. It isn't real, this hunt is meaningless! It won’t work! Once you get it...!" Before Cowal could finish his sentence, he spotted a dark figure walking towards them from the shadows. Both Cowal and Selene change their stance and prepare for the worst, hopefully it isn’t the worst. "Who is fighting who now? I could never keep up with you guys." asked the dark figure. "Hello Doriana." Cowal says in a monotonous tone.  Both Cowal and Selene relax, Selene turns back toward Cowal, as he raises his arms, pushing back the black fog covering the dark figure.  Which reveals Doriana, a gothicly dressed girl about the same age as the other two, with a sarcastic attitude about her, and her hair seems to be frizzing slightly from static electricity.  "Now Selene, what are you going to do to Cowal? You know very well this is an unfair fight, or are we not playing by our rules anymore?" Doriana stated.  "I will do what I must to get it before any of you." replies Selene. "I hope you've learned to control that temper of yours, you could easily fry Cowal as well as me!"  "Oh yes, I've gotten it quite under control, thanks for asking!" Doriana says, sarcastically.  "Oh shut up Dori!" Selene quickly picked up both of her hands and faced them toward Cowal and Doriana. A flash of lightning struck Doriana and she disappeared from her spot. However, Cowal wasn’t so lucky. As Cowal tried to dematerialize away from Selene, he was caught under her torturing spell. Cowal was brought to the ground in a fit of terror, slowly being tormented into insanity. A second flash of lightning can be seen nearby, leaving Doriana in its place.  Realizing what is happening to Cowal, Doriana runs toward Selene. As Doriana ran, three golden arrows fell from the sky, hitting Selene in the arm, stomach, and shoulder. Unfortunately, none of the arrows had any effect. Instead of blood seeping from Selene’s wounds, rose petals began falling where flesh had been. Selene released her grab on Cowal, pulled out the arrows, and her flesh began filling in her wounds. “Oh sweet, caring Kyler! I don’t want to have to kill you too! But if you stand in my way, I will be forced to… Suddenly, an arrow just misses Selene and falls right in front of her. “Kyler! You seem to be losing your touch!” Selene begins laughing. All of a sudden, Doriana notices that a second arrow has fallen behind Selene and appears to be glowing brighter than the other arrows. Recognizing its purpose, Doriana is struck by another lightning strike, disappears, and reappears near Cowal. Grabbing Cowal’s hand, they both disappear.  As Selene is distracted by Doriana and Cowal’s escape, a third arrow falls from the sky and just misses Selene, but is closer than the first arrow. Instinctively, Selene takes a step back and steps on the second arrow. The tiny arrow explodes creating an explosion large enough to take out a small town.  

The dark and dreary landscape is momentarily disturbed by a bright explosion emanating from that single arrow.  A wave of dust and ash is sent in all directions away from the explosion.  Seeing the wave headed straight for him, a mysterious spectator who was observing the fight from a distant tree spreads his wings, one demonic with black feathers and the other angelic with eerily white feathers, taking off into the night sky, just missing the wave of dust.  The mysterious spectator couldn’t help but feel proud of himself, “Everything is going as planned.” 

The Seer wakes up in his bed, breathing heavily, sweating profusely. He slowly looks over at the picture on his nightstand. He sees a joyous picture with his classmates.  Kyler Norrington, the straight "A", role model, "goody two shoes" of the class. Doriana Carlyle, standoffish, very smart, very sarcastic, and easily tempered.  And, Cowal Slayter, the new kid who made friends with almost everyone in a very short time, is sometimes quiet, but can sometimes be the life of the party, and who has the biggest crush on the shy girl of the class, Selene Powell. "Selene..." The Seer grabs the photograph and stares at it for a while.  He cannot believe what he's just seen. He doesn't know what to think yet. All he knows is that he better think fast, all four of them are in his first period.

And then there is the matter of that mysterious figure hiding, just watching the whole fight.   

"We can have fun..."

"You're just jealous I found things. You're just a stupid, slow, stupid, jealous girl!"

"...I hate you."

"I hate you first!"

"I hate you more!"

For the first time since toddlerhood, both beds were used; alone and apart, neither twin slept a wink.

For the first time, in mid-morning play, Apollo deliberately broke seven toy soldiers.

Selene did not move. Why? Helios was long gone, off like a shot, but Selene remained in the dock. Perhaps there s mechanical failure? Greg could hear a muffled hissing coming from the cockpit mic. No, on second thought, that wasn't a hiss, more of a... sniffle?

OH.

"Um... are you alright?"

Just sniffles. What if something had gone horribly, horribly wrong?! Greg bolted out of the control room, slapping the button to close the hanger doors and grabbing a first aid kit. As soon as it was safe to do so, he burst into the hanger, racing to the mech unit and pulling the emergency release, dragging Artemis out to see...

no injury. Just wild sobs.

Slowly, awkwardly, stiffly, he positioned his arms around the girl. Out of place, he held her still hile she threw herself at him, tears and snot staining his good shirt.

Devo fare una breve ma importante premessa.
Nel 1990 incontro la laureanda in architettura Betty Bianchessi che era stata da bambina mia allieva nel laboratorio di via Dante a Monza. Betty è in partenza per Lisbona avendo ricevuto il premio Erasmus e riuscirà quello stesso anno ad organizzarmi una mostra all’Istituto Italiano di Cultura alla quale ho dato il titolo “Il vuoto meraviglioso”.
Betty aveva una tecnica particolare per presentare i suoi progetti architettonici, un metodo di collage molto particolare, sovrapposizioni di immagini fotocopiate in bianco e nero su carta da lucido: l’effetto ottico era straordinario ed è per questo che mi sono fatta aiutare nel 1993 a realizzare i tre trittici di mappaluna. Abbiamo lavorato a quattro mani sul collage e per mia fortuna anche nello spruzzo dell’argento. Ricordo divertita noi due con la mascherina in faccia , le finestre spalancate ad usare bombolette di vernice. Peccato non esserci fatte una fotografia! Ma non esisteva ancora il telefonino di oggi e avremmo dovuto programmare l’uso della macchina fotografica cosa che non ci è venuto in mente di fare.

Oblivious to his sister's distress, Helios bounded ahead, each step a long leap, his golden-painted armor glinting in the light that filtered its way through the dense atmosphere. Away from their complex, things grew steadily dimmer, as though they had left the safe clearing and now played too deep in the woods. Still, the boy had no fear - no hungry wolves lurked in this forest of gas, waiting to gobble up naughty children.

"Slowpoke!"

Selene, every bit as fast as her twin, remained just behind, unable to catch up to Helios' head start. He was always leaving her behind, always racing on ahead, eager to get nowhere and discover nothing. Why couldn't he just turn and discover her as he once did? Why did he always have to be just out of reach?

"I ain't slow! You cheat!"

Artemis' words were lost on Apollo. He'd found something! He looked down into the crater before him. He'd found craters before, of course, but this one had something IN it - a large dome, containing a few buildings. He knew from his own home bubble that most of the compound would be underground; the people would all be indoors at this time of day. He'd run all morning to find this place - it must be fairly far from his home, though he'd not been tracking the distance.

"Look, 'ty!"

Artemis' heart sank. People. Now her brother would meet someone new, and have no more time for her, like the toys he'd finished playing with. Why couldn't the world, the universe, just leave them alone? They didn't need anyone else, just themselves: Apollo and Artemis, 003 and 004, Helios and Selene.

"So what? You prolly just got us lost."

"Did not! It's new!"

"Race ya back, slowpoke!"

"You're on!"

Apparently SOME people just can't enough of that sweet, sweet Summer Of Love action, so once more I'm sitting here at 11pm writing a match report instead of playing Spore, painting figures, or sorting the cards that are splayed across the table in the basement. Oh, the things I do for you people...

Tonight we see two of my favourite teams playing against two of Spud's favourite teams... even if the pairings are screwy. I love Fantastic Four decks, I love Kree resource control. Spud loves X-Statix (with tongue), and he has a strong affection for the Hellfire Club as well... so we both wanted both decks to win....

... but that wouldn't be any fun now, would it???

Spud picked up Family of One, while I held HKKO in my mitts. Keeping with tradition, I lose the initiative roll, and Spud opts for Odds. Both players keep their starting hands, and now the fun can begin...

Turn One:

Okay, so the fun really can't start just yet. I lied, okay? I had good intentions, I assure you, but when there's no 1-drops to be had, this is just a quiet turn. Stop judging me!!!

Turn Two:

Roulette spins out, looking a little hippy in those pink tights, while Luke Cage forms up across the way... also looking a little hippy in pink tights. Musta gotten confused with Jessica's wardrobe this morning. Sensing potential blood in the water, Luke yells "I'ma gonna draw an extra card today!", which made no sense as a battlecry.

Roulette completely failed to burn Luke as he stood there flexing, so she charged him instead... and surprised him by powering up, for the stun. "No card for YOU this sweet Christmas!", she quipped... quite poorly, I must say.

Turn Three:

The Thing proves  that he realy is the Idol o' Millions, whule Luke is determined to draw an extra card. In response, Roulette dials a wrong number, and her only backup is a Kree Commando, who can't stop starting at her pink-spandex-clad booty. I mean seriously, who designed the Hellion costumes?? The staring does rile Roullette up a little though, she's clearly being targetted by the creepy Commando.

Roulette once again misses a burn opportunity, so is worried for a second when Luke charges her, but she's feeling empowered - Luke collapses in a heap at her feet.

Thing can't believe it, and goes for her himself, and the two collide just like you'd imagine a rocky humanoid and a pink mutant would collide. Dual stun. The Kree Commando steps over their reeling forms and kicks Spud in the face.

Turn Four:

Once again a little behind the times, Dylon Cir jogs in, while Mr Fantastic answers his pager and opens his PDA to start searching for cards.

Roulette... you guessed it, misses another shot at burning... so Dylon kicks Thing instead, and Roulette drains his essence while Reed tries sifting through his email to find something useful in between offers to improve his manhood and to help exiled Bharanian royalty.

Turn Five:

Me Fantastic finally finds an email he's liking, so he sends up a Signal Flare for Thing to come back to hit things Heavilly. Firestar has been out in the cosmos and declares herself a hero on two worlds.

Roulette... yup, misses the burn. Thing charges at Firestar, who gives him the evil eye and then blows up hin his face. A short turn, but a dramatic one.

Turn Six:

Selene is pressed into service, while Reed comes the conclusion that they need some sort of Zeitgeist. All this is too much for Roulette, who gets distracted for a second and... yes... YES! She actually manages to burn for 2!!!!

Selene decides she wants to taste Reed's electrolytes, but he feels a kind of teamish bond with Zeitgeist, and goes off to X-Statix HQ to research this wierd feeling.

Thwarted, Selene instead sinks her teeth into Thing. The Commandos try to bury Thing in a most improper manner, but Thing's apparently been declared Mutant of the Year by GQ magazine. Roulette, quite offended, responds with an Evil Eye, but it turns out Thing's won the Mutant of the Year award from Women's Weekly as well.

Zeitgeist rounds it out by trying to put Roulette in her place with a hefty backhand (that brute!), but Dylon's there to support her.

Turn Seven:

Battering Ram enlists, while Mar-Vell proves he really isn't a Skrull... while also not really being dead yet. Selene pulls out her junior chemistry set and dumps iron filings on Battering Ram, before exerting Magnetic Force. Disgruntled, Battering Ram returns to the HQ.

Zeitgeist vomits acid all over Selene, who screams "Not the face! Not the face". Fully aware of the X-Statix rep for being bastards when they're all alone, Mar-Vell and the Commando charge the vomitous mutant just as he leaves the X-Statix Cafe... where he had an energy drink, so is feeling empowered. Mar-Vell flies away for a moment to catch his breath.

Dylon just kicks Spud to the face. He's uncomplicated like that.

Turn Eight:

Mar-Vell returns, in what is turning out to be one of the longest games of the Summer. Reed wanders past, still sorting through his emails.

Mar-Vell tries to trip Reed up, but Reed stumbles into an interdimensional portal that, oddly enough, dumps him in the pool at X-Statix HQ. Selene and Dylon scowl menacingly at Zeitgeist, forcing him to cower...

... until the PR crew spin-doctors him back into place. Then Mar-Vell and the Commandos also start spreading libellous rumours....

... until the PR crew start spin-doctoring again. Zeitgeist, finding out that Mar-Vell is the one who wrote his phone number on the wall in the public restroom, charges out of the Cafe with intent to Clobber... Mar-Vell takes his hit, and once more flies off to a short distance to catch his breath.

HKKO: 15

Turn Nine:

The Silver Surfer responds to a Signal Flare, while Mar-Vell returns with Roulette, to give her one last chance... but she completely fails to burn yet again. Selene does give Spud the Evil Eye though.

Surfer hangs ten all up in Mar-Vell's grille, before returning to the HQ, when Zeitgeist spanks Roulette for looking better in spandex than he does. Jealousy's a curse, man.

Turn Three:

Ah, here come the Kree. Dylon Cir represent! Not meaning to be taken as anything but fresh, Mento finally comes out to represent the Knights.

Roulette fails to burn this time; Dylon swings through Mento for a dual stun, and Roulette kicks Spud in the shins again.

Turn Four:

Spud laments his hand, with three Bat Signals and nary a Gotham Knight in sight to exhaust for it. He recruits nothing. Nothing! I run a little salt into the wound with Roberto da Costa.

Roulette completely fails to burn again. Mento tries to correct her ways with an assault; she responds by giving him The Evil Eye. Flipping a team-up, Dylon reinforces the little Hellion, and then rather than risk getting Bobby stunned as well as Roulette, I opt to move on to turn 5...

Turn Five:

Firestar burns onto the board, met by the steely gaze of Robotman.

Roulette, true to form, fails to burn as Firestar swings into Mento. On with the chain!

• Robotman activates to get two counters.
• Mento tosses a counter at Firestar to reduce her defense.
• Time for a Freak Out! One of Robotman's counters goes to Mento.

Enraged, Firestar embraces the new Kree ideology of Live Kree Or Die and whacks some extra breakthrough through Mento's head, before detonating for some extra burn

Roberto and Dylon make a move on Robotman, who backhands the little Sunspot in response before being borne down by the awesomeness of the Kreefire Klub.

Ever the opportunist, Roulette pulls out a hose and starts siphoning Robotman's fuel supply with Drain Essence.

Turn Six:

Beast Boy breaks out of his pen, time to get rowdy... maybe Selene can soothe the savage beast boy.

Entering the combat phase, Roulette.... does diddly. Again.

Mento tries to make a move on Roulette, but Roberto somehow exerts Magnetic Force... yet it fizzled. While Mento tries to figure out what the heck just happened, Beast Boy smells Blood In The Dark and steamrolls over Roberto. Selene, just to keep things in check, exerts her own Magnetic Force on Mento.

Now, I had the exact numbers on the board to put Spud at 0 this turn... but a single pump is all if would take to turn that around, and he had a healthy hand, so I erred on the side of caution.

Turn Seven:

Selene picks up the phone, and calls in a favor to Mar-Vell. Spud flashes his substitutiness recruiting a 7-Babs... and then a 7-Babs... and then a 7-Babs. 14 cards in hand going into the combat phase, when...

... Roulette does nothing again.

Selene and Roberto tag team the elephantine Beast Boy; Selene takes the hit back, but her draining of Beast Boy's vitality makes for a net 0 change to HK KO's endurance. Mar-Vell pummels Mento into the ground, followed by Roulette swinging to Spud's face.

Dylon Cir opts to hold off attacking, in case he's needed to reinforce a wheelchair assault from 7-Babs into Roulette.

Instead, Barbara smells some blood in the dark herself and, combined with the resources of Gotham Central, rolls her wheelchair most viciously over Roberto's toes.

Final score:
HK KO: 20
Knights: -12

A fun game, but missing the three of the first four drops pretty much put the Knights on the backburner. HK KO moves on to round two.

The main character is a sex witch, which gives me the sneaking suspicion that this book might not be my thing. But I've been wrong about that type of thing before, and free reading material is awesome. Here's the link:

It's been a while since I looked at pictures of out of space, in this case the Earth and the Moon as seen from Mars. In a blonde way, too many things were happening not too far away from me so I was too busy to even look. But the Japanese have launched the biggest moon program since Apollo (Kayuga-Selene) which just leaves me full of awe towards what's going on out there.

"At the time the image was taken, Earth was 142 million kilometers (88 million miles) from Mars, giving the HiRISE image a scale of 142 kilometers (88 miles) per pixel, an Earth diameter of about 90 pixels and a moon diameter of 24 pixels. The phase angle is 98 degrees, which means that less than half of the disk of the Earth and the disk of the moon have direct illumination"

Perhaps the most interesting in the “Neat and New" category at NAB had to be in NHK’s UltraTV booth. Based on next generation 8K camera, imaging and display technology this format is Japans replacement for HDTV. Below is an overview video of many of the technologies in NHK's UltraTV booth.

The 8K Ultrahigh Speed Camera operates at 10,000 frames/sec and they claim it can reach 1 Million Frames/second. The exploding water balloon video in slow motion really demonstrated the power of this camera. Video below.

Other interesting things found in the NHK’s UltraTV booth included great shots of bee’s in flight shot at 8000 frames per second, 8K streaming media encoded into H.264 @ 128Mbps and the Earth Rise/Set High Definition images recorded on board the Japanese Lunar Satellite Selene orbiting the Moon. BUGTV showed their ingest server that’s tied into Apples Final Cut Server and employing Livecut, BUGTV has connected the power of these three applications into a live switch environment. BUGTV's ingest engine can record all cameras feeds using Final Cut Servers asset management. Later, by employing Livecut, camera switches can be reconfigured to cover up any missed switches or to bring back missed shots.

Field Emission Displays

Field emission displays (FED) are a flat panel display that employs field emitting cathodes to activate phosphor coatings as the light emissive medium. Field emission displays are similar to cathode ray tubes, however they are only a few millimeters thick. FED’s are seen as the likely replacement for CRT monitors for broadcast and potentially digital cinema use. A lot of manufacturers are working with this technology and the prototypes are finding their way to NAB's floor. The video below provides some background to nano-Spindt FED Flat Panel Screens.

Fraunhofer IIs

Fraunhofer IIs normally sets the standard for what’s new at NAB. This year their booth featured real-time facial identification software that could identify multiple faces and a number of parameters relating to the state of the person identified. Below is a video of the technology.

Fraunhofer’s 3D Reconstruction Detection Technologies was truly the star of the booth. Employing a single digital SLR camera and a mirror arrangement, a single photograph can be resolved into a 3D model by the software. Below is a video shot at NAB 2008 that shows both of these technologies in action followed by an interview conducted at CEBIT 2008.

VoiceQ

VoiceQ showed a neat ADR tool that allows one to line up dialogue and audio waveforms on a plasma monitor to speed up the process.

1 Beyond’s GoFlex317™ HD Laptop

1 Beyond’s GoFlex317™ HD is the industry’s first laptop capable of High Definition level performance. It contains a RAID 5 hardware controller and a minimum of 3 drives. this configuration has previously been unavailable in a laptop. Digital Video Binloop

For multiple displays the Digital Video Binloop is the tool. It provides 16 tracks of high bitrate MPEG2 video that can be synchronized using time code. Video can be inserted into the unit on Compact Flash media.

Gefen HD Personal Video Recorder

Gefen was showing their new HD Personal Video Recorder. The unit allows media to be recorded and removed on SD flash memory devices or recorded on a built-in 80GB hard disk drive.

OLED Buttons

The Well Buying Industrial Company was showing their new OLED based switching buttons. These buttons allow live images to be placed on buttons that allow the actual camera images to be placed on a switcher’s buttons.

Sidewinder™ System

Telecast's Viper 1 that includes reel-mounted Sidewinder™ system, handles a variety of signals on one fiber cable. Both systems are modular and provide two-way video (NTSC/PAL or HD/SDI), audio, intercom and data transport. These systems allow one to create a custom configuration of "Mussel Shell", rack mounted "442" or reel-mounted modular units.

 The Japanese moon orbiter "Selene" has been in orbit since December and to date very little has been produced.   Was Hoagland correct when he states there are anomolous objects that can't be explained and Nasa has to airbrush them out, are the Japanese so overwhelmed with UFO's that they can't release anything because they are so prevelant? 

 The Japanese space agency seems a little short on product considering the equipment they have available, HD-TV camera, Hi Def cameras and radar sensors.  

Questa volta però Selene, protagonista della trilogia, non sarà interpretata dalla bella Kate Beckinsale, infatti, durante la conferenza stampa di presentazione della pellicola Snow Angels ha dichiarato che non avrebbe più interpretato il ruolo dell'affascinante vampira protagonista di Underworld e Underworld: Evolution. Nel film però saranno presenti Rhona Mitra (nei panni di Sonja), Bill Nighy e Michael Sheen, questi ultimi presenti anche nei due precedenti episodi.

La nuova protagonista quindi sarà Rhona Mitra, che andrà a sostituire kate Beckinsale. Proprio dal set, in Nuova Zelanda, hanno voluto smentire i rumors che parlavano di un film povero, con un budget dimezzato rispetto ai capitoli precedenti, sottolineando come il set sia immenso i vestiti curatissimi e come il film sarà un concentrato di azione e combattimenti tra personaggi mai visti fino ad oggi. Ritroviamo personaggi come Lucien, il capo dei Lycan che nutre sogni di libertà per la propria specie e un amore segreto per la bella Sonja, e il crudele Viktor, il re dei vampiri.
