I can envision placing this song in a break up scene where the girl has just cheated on one of the good guys and we see a black and white montage of him slowly becoming intoxicated until he is numb.

Morbid I know but this song is so deep. Can you imagine droplets of water bouncing eternally on a high hat hoping to be evaporated by the sunshine? This song represents all things lost--all things hoped for-- all things desired and the inevitability that nothing is guaranteed. Here are the lyrics:

If you haven't got the album - hell, even if you have - this might be a nice way to check out the new musics from Radiohead. Keeping in mind that it is live, and therefore differs ever so slightly from the album.

Though, I don't think much to the official video for Radiohead's release of their song 'Nude.' I find the video a bit dull, and the song is not dull at all. I don't feel the video does it justice. A live performance would of worked better.

Sorry to any Radiohead fans out there, please don't stab me.

Mira que yo a esta gente les dije nunca mais ... despues de dos pestiños colosales como "Amnesiac" y el disco en solitario de Thom Yorke  "The Eraser" ..... infumables, asi que me quedé en el "OK Computer"

...  hasta que llegó a mis manos IN RAINBOWS, una auténtica maravilla para disfrutarla una vez tras otra y aunque   puede que resulte algo difícil de escuchar la primera vez, luego se puede convertir en algo  o b s e s i v o. 

Este album apareció el pasado mes de Octubre, producido  totalmente por ellos,   la particularidad es que podías descargarlo gratuitamente desde la web  dejando la voluntad ....., es lo que tiene mandar a parla a tu discográfica, y el caso es que nos les fué nada nada mal.

After last nights amazing performance on Later with Jules Holland(show 200) & the awe inspiring CD release, In Rainbows, I did a little digging on youtube & it didn't take me long to find a collection of performances on Radiohead's own channel. They are listed as the Scotch Mist Versions & give us a unique experience of the songs from In Rainbows.

To me it looks an official channel on youtube & I don't doubt that Radiohead would promote themselves like this on the internet, not after releasing In Rainbows as an online download before it even seen the light of CD marketing.

Radiohead have surprised my recently in a very good way. I had fallen out of love with music over the last 5 or so years & it is seldom that I excited by anything I hear but In Rainbows is such a great return to form for Radiohead that I'd love to see them live. They are one of the only bands that I have liked over a period of time that I haven't yet been to see in a live performance.

O álbum já nasce sob o signo da mudança e do novo milênio. A revolução nasce na internet. Você acessa o site da banda e para baixar o álbum você paga quanto quiser e se quiser.

A mudança paradigmática e seu sucesso (é o álbum número 1 na Inglaterra) com certeza trazem uma grande novidade para a relação artistas-gravadoras. Aliás, com esse novo processo de produção, estas últimas foram banidas e a banda consegue chegar direto ao seu público.

E assim é também o vídeo, disponível no Youtube. Digo que desde o dia 1º de janeiro, eu escuto-vejo todos os dias. Veja o filme todo clicando aqui e "Nude" que encerra o Scotch Mist. É belo!  

Radiohead despidiendo el 2007 por webcast con su Scotch mist

Se acabó el 2007. A eso de las 7:30pm (hora colombiana) sintonicé radiohead.tv y vi, al igual que millones en todo el mundo, un concierto de radiohead via web para despedir el año. Lo primero que dije fue "jueputa lo cogí a la mitad".

Un golpe más de Radiohead y su "In rainbows". Hablaron de tocar por primer vez en Argentina y Brasil, ojalá pasen por Colombia.

The connection to Sydney? There isn't any, not really. Radiohead hasn't even scheduled tour dates for Australia (neither for Austria btw).

Esta é apenas uma das atitudes que faz com que os fãs da banda os idolatrem desde a época de Fake Plastic Trees, que faz parte de seu segundo álbum, The Bends, no entanto sua sonoridade única já chamava a atenção da mídia e de muitas outras pessoas antes, no mínimo pela presença da música Creep em seu primeiro álbum, Pablo Honey.

Com o passar do tempo eles resolveram mergulhar um pouco mais em si mesmos e lançaram os álbuns (mais experimentais que o normal deles) OK Computer (que tem alguns sucessos como Paranoid Android e Karma Police) e Kid A.

Mesmo vendendo bem algumas pessoas erroneamente previam o fim próximo da banda, os principais motivos disso foram letras e músicas estranhas, desinteresse em tornar-se mais comercial e também o fato da discrição dos membros da banda.

Amnesiac mantém certos experimentalismos, mas Hail To The Thief (respectivamente quinto e sexto álbuns do Radiohead), mostram com muita classe que eles vieram para ficar. Hail To The Thief além de ser um pouco menos experimental nas músicas tem a interessante característica de ter um subtítulo entre parênteses em todas as músicas, como por exemplo I Will. (No Man's Land.)

De certa forma eles conseguem contrariar o senso comum mesmo quando não têm qualquer intenção de fazê-lo, Scotch Mist é um ótimo exemplo disso. Além da execução integral das dez músicas de In Rainbows no decorrer de alguns ensaios dentro e fora de estúdio, há também a inclusão de três poemas falados, intitulados Sky Sports, Midsummer's In A Graveyard e Head And Shoulders.

O Radiohead é uma prova viva de que ainda existe vida inteligente na música pop atual e acredito que assim será por muito tempo.

Sky Sports

One day I found out that my urine was acting like a powerful foaming agent, I don't know why. I thought I could take advantage of my ability by hosting piss scented foam parties in the pub toilets. The landlord wasn't keen, he didn't think that people would be interested, in fact he said that it was a disgusting idea, I said that I'd rather go to a piss foam party than watch the fucking football, but he said that I'm in a very small minority and the big screen stays.

Midsummer's Day In A Graveyard

Easy gets crawled across the sky into the west wind, I read "In lovin' memory of" and "What will survive of us is love". "Love is eternal, here rests for a time".
Perhaps the dead lie happily in the well-tended plots or perhaps they prefer the forgoten evergrown corners, perhaps they prefer their names obliterated by time and the weather, perhaps not.
There's only the sound of the strong west wind in that place, and I wasn't dead long before I thought that I should leave (live?)

Head And Shoulders

When I moved to my new flat I was very happy, but when I worked out that the whispering voices that I can hear when I put my head into the water to bath belong to dead people I wasn't happy any longer, particularly that every time when I put my head into the water when I had a bath the voices were slightly louder than the times before.
I tried not putting my head under the water when I had a bath, but every fucking time curiosity got the better of me and I hat to try just for a second, just to check and, of course, even half a second of that sort of thing would bother anyone.
I keep asking the landlord to put the shower in, but he prevaricates and says things like "What do you want a shower for? That's a lovely old bath, that's antique, that is, look at this victorian (???) those reclamation you had".
It's all right for him, he hasn't got fucking dead people talking to every time he washes his hair.

O Radiohead lançou nesta última semana um vídeo (Scotch Mist) com todas as canções do seu mais recente álbum - o excelente In Rainbows - sendo tocadas ao vivo em estúdio. Uma idéia muito bacana (o vídeo é muito bom), porém em se tratando de inovação nós poderíamos muito bem lembrar de diversas bandas brasileiras que há alguns anos atrás já mostravam todo o processo de gravação dos seus albúns em estúdio, através de uma webcam ligada 24h por dia. Para a época, um grande salto.

A desconstrução dos processos do mainstream não me parecem nenhuma grande jogada de genialidade, a não ser uma necessária reformulação dos padrões arcaicos, que já foram muito lucrativos e que estão a cada ano mais obsoletos (leia-se a queda nas vendas de CD´s ao redor do mundo).

Nossa tendência suburbana (principalmente mental) é aplaudir todo feito a partir de um primeiro ato bem feito, ao exemplo daquela política de palanque ou daquele picareta maquiado em estúdio.

Certo, achei a estratégia de colocar o álbum In Rainbows à venda pelo preço que você quisesse pagar muito interessante, o álbum é de fato instigante e expressivo, ponto. A partir disso é caminho contrário, é babar o ovo do rei só porque ele admitiu que come uma coxa de galinha com as mãos de vez em quando. 

Ao mesmo tempo os preços dos ingressos para ver a banda na Inglaterra estava pra lá de salgado, ou seja, pretende-se o mesmo lucro, porém por vias diferentes. Isso não tira o mérito da banda, de forma alguma, apenas acho interessante discutir e analisar as ações, colocá-las na balança antes de gritar: Nossa, que lindo!

Com um breve descuido, a gente começa a comer carne de segunda só porque o primeiro quilo era de primeira.

O corre-corre desesperado do nosso tempo já começou, é banda independente querendo ir pro lado de lá, é papa do mainstream querendo flertar com o lado de cá, é duplo-caminho-sem-volta e salve-se quem puder! A esfera mostra-se pequena e a inovação cada vez mais precisa de combustível para continuar avante. Pelo amor de Deus, suicídio de Amy´s ou Britiney´s não vale!

Calma lá, eu agora só irei babar ovo se o Radiohead fizer um show gratuito no Largo da Alfândega, e pedir para o Valdir Agostinho abrir. Isso sim seria uma tacada de mestre.

Incognito, voilà que Radiohead dépose un 01 janvier 2008... bof, presque rien : l'enregistrement intégral de In Rainbows en studio, soit 52 min et 31 secondes de pur bonheur.

Au jour du 04 janvier, près de 350 000 internautes ont visionnées cette vidéo !! Soit 87 500 par jour, soit près de 3650 par heure, soit (et vous l'avez deviné) 1 personne chaque seconde qui visionne Scotch Mist. Enorme !!!

PS : Pour ceux pour qui 1h de lecture apparaît comme une épreuve de force, Thom et ses compagnons ont également pensé à poster (ici) chacun de leurs titres à l'unité...
