Sorry that the post is late. Like I said in my image spam of Nagisa, I had to spend the day out of town. I only had enough time to watch the raw and take a bunch of screencaps of Nagisa before heading out for the day. Disappointing.

The fact that I didn't have time to write anything. I'm not disappointed in posting a dozen screencaps of Nagisa. That was fun.

Speaking of the raw, I was surprised to find that I understood more than usual (my "lately" usual anyway). Which means one of two things. Either my brain fog has finally lifted or Clannad just wasn't that difficult to understand.

Or hey, maybe the seiyuu are just so good I get what they're saying without even understanding it. Always a possibility.

Thoughts

Woo! They remembered the plot (talking about the beginning)! And double woo for getting the chance to see Sunohara's story! Woo woo!

This was definitely another funny episode of Clannad. I'm not sure if I'd call it the funniest because every single one has me laughing out loud, but this one was definitely among the best. I overdid screencapping so much that I couldn't even toss many out.

It was nice to see the other world again. I love how carefully animated these scenes are. It's kind of overdone, but in a good way. It gives it that surreal feeling.

I know the secret behind the other world, but not much about what actually happens in the other world. So I'm looking forward to seeing more of it just the same.

For some reason, this made me happy. I don't know. The three of them eating lunch together just reminds me of how people say the game is. I like all the other girls, but they don't need to be there all the time. I like the random visits to them better. When they're all in the same room it feels kind of...crowded (lol).

Aww...worried Mei is cute.

Oh Nagisa's head tilt is so cute. She knows there's something amiss with "baby-face" Sunohara. Ah, she was so cute in these scenes. The worried bystander. Like when she said, "I don't think lying is a good idea" but got ignored. Poor Nagisa. But it's okay, because it's cute.

Stage whisper...if it was anyone but Sunohara this wouldn't have worked.

And Nagisa, you know Tomoya so well. "Aren't you having a little too much fun?" Yes Nagisa. He is.

I feel like this would normally annoy me, but this was just too hilariously cute. You don't have to cry Ryou! Ah she gets embarassed so easily that I really can't dislike her.

Wow Kyou. This scene might have been my favorite in the whole episode (excluding various cute Nagisa moments).

She went from crazy pissed-off violence, to a good worried onee-san, to smiling during more crazy violence, to her exit, leaving destruction behind her and both Nagisa and Ryou looking mildly terrified. I think Kyou became my second favorite girl again (but gah! What about Mei?).

Ah poor Sunohara. This is what he expected.

This is what he got. Ignored. Ultimately it ended the same as always too.

Darn it, now what about Tomoyo too. Who's my second favorite? I don't even know anymore~!

Oh yeah, and this definitely doesn't hurt Tomoyo's ranking. Girls becoming friends and calling eachother by name is just so cute. Tomoyo and Nagisa interacting in general is just cute. I want more of that.

Yeah, you know what? I think out of all of the girls interacting, I like it when Nagisa and Tomoyo talk the most. Freakin' cute. Nagisa admires Tomoyo and Tomoyo...seems to think Nagisa is cute and nice (because she totally is). Ah...cute.

Yeah, I really don't know who my second favorite is. Kotomi became really cute after her arc ended. Hmm, but I'm pretty sure she's not in the race for second favorite. She's darn cute, but unfortunately brought down by that violin.

She's also getting less screentime than any of the other girls, so that probably hurts her.

Yukine~! Since we got to see a delinquent friend of hers I hope that means we get to see her route too. After Sunohara's (then we can finish up Nagisa's route and head for the After Story!).

lol, Tomoya. Up until now it seemed like he was genuinely trying to help Sunohara (sometimes), but now he's just in it for the lulz again.

Ah, Sunohara. How the heck do you keep falling for this stuff? It's not as bad as when you followed Tomoya's advice about talking to Tomoyo back in the first season (with the bowling and crap), but still. While you were saying that stuff you totally should have realized.

Head-tilt. It runs in the family.

Ah. This really just made me think, "lol, Tomoya. You're such a bad friend." Because honestly. It's okay because it's funny though. And at least he's doing his best to make sure Akio doesn't find out.

Determined Mei is cute too.

lol, None of those costumes would even work in the first place. What was the point? Teacher costume actually made her look her age for once.

But...I don't mind. It's fun to watch Tomoya and Nagisa's reactions in the back. The cat maid is, of course, the best. If only that had been her actual disguise!

Aw...Nagisa. It seems like she's always the one who has to worry about these silly plans. But it's okay because it's cute.

And I know I gave Nagisa just a 4 for no-bangs in my filler post, but come on. Her adorable puppy-dog eyes can't look up through her bangs that way. See? (but really, Nagisa is cute no matter what. That's why it's always at least a 4/5.)

Like mother, like daughter. I always noticed it when they're at the table eating a meal and stuff, but Nagisa and Sanae are really so similar that it's ridiculous.

This means Nagisa will always look like she's 16 (I know she's supposed to be like 18 or 19, but there's no way).

Jealous Nagisa is just about the cutest Nagisa ever. And she's jealous of her mom which just makes it funny.

Sunohara...I really have nothing to say, just...thank you for being you. You make every episode ROFL-worthy.

This was my favorite screencap in the whole episode. You may have noticed that Nagisa is my icon right now. It's because she's so darn cute. Like, "What the heck Tomoya-kun..." She always seems to know what he's up to now...though I have no doubt that she'll still get tricked plenty.

What the Hell? Sunohara has the craziest imagination. He's taken the random fantasy job from Tomoya!

Aw, Nagisa don't be too jealous. That's pretty much what you're going to look like when you're that age anyway. It's a good thing (kind of).

I mean, it's not so bad if the first girl your boyfriend looks at in the entire course of history besides you is your mom...right? Or lol, is that worse? Nah, after all Sanae looks like a 17-year-old anyway.

Well, they certainly didn't give much away. The narration is as vague as ever. But more Mei is good and I've always heard great things about this route in the game.

Serious Sunohara was really the only thing of interest in the preview. Looking forward to seeing what caused that (he's only not been a character relief character in this series like...maybe once or twice before).

ROFL! It's another recap! Because I had my expectations so low after last week, I don't even care. It's just freakin' hilarious for me. Besides, the in between clips were better this time. Anime original Amuto is always welcome. ^_^

So, next week is when SC!! Doki really begins. The anime original plot seems to be starting next week for reals. But, lol, recap. At least there was some Amuto in the rain~!

Last week a recap could have been justified if someone wanted to start watching SC! for the first time for the "new series," but that doesn't change the fact the first episode was super boring.

Now then...Two recaps? That's a bit excessive, Satelight. But it's okay. I was busy again so less time on a summary is fine with me, I'm actually looking forward to seeing some stupid fangirls get mad, and you gave me Amuto. All is forgiven.

But seriously, I don't think anyone knows how funny I find this. When I first found out I had a "wtf?" reaction, but then I kept laughing for about the next twenty minutes while I did other stuff. Twenty minutes. It's just so funny after some fans tried to defend the recap last week. Defend it this time guys~!

I'm so glad I stopped caring about what would happen after last week. Now I'm just blogging it for the sake of...I don't even know. Consistency? Maybe, I want to be able to come out of this thing and go, "Ha! Once I started I never stopped!" But mostly it's for the commenters who are always thanking me for the summaries. You guys better stay grateful!

Summary

Recap again, but with a surprising amount of (anime-original) plot.

Ikuto's skipping school again and Yoru makes some jokes and Ikuto actually laughs. At the royal garden the guardians are all having some super good doughnuts. Amu gives Tadase a vanilla one and they have another one of their chibi looking moments because she remembered he liked vanilla. Until Yaya comes out and ruins their chibi aura.

At Easter the loser scientists go over how they failed (and apparently are no longer in charge of looking for the embryo) and recap the way in which Easter's plans have all failed.

Amu goes to talk to the First King on his request. Ran finds the picture book he wrote and asks him what would happen next (or something) and finds out that the eggs get a power-up or something which Miki and Su don't believe at all. Amu asks why he had her come there and he pulls his random card stuff and Amu pulls out the Joker card. He says some things about shining lights going out with darkness (or random crap) which Amu doesn't understand. He then says a new story is starting and the Humpty Lock can feel it too (or something). He says more foreshadowing things that really tell us nothing too.

It starts raining so Ikuto has to leave his spot on the grass (where he's apparently been all day, lol). Amu runs through the rain and gets shelter under a tree in the same park where she sang with Ikuto's violin, which she thinks about. And when she says his name out loud, Ikuto hangs off of the branch in front of her and causes her to freak out until she trips and Ikuto catches her. After a time-skip (cop-out Satelight!) Amu and Ikuto are both standing under the tree and being stubborn with each other. Yoru and Amu's charas talk about rain, Yoru is anti-rain and Ran, Miki, and Su are pro-rain (I don't really think this is important though) Something about how it's romantic.

Tadase comes to the First King's office with random guardian business and sees that Amu isn't there. The First King says she already started to head home.

Back in the park Amu is thinking a lot about something (what to talk about I think) but is being stubborn as usual. Ikuto says that she seems different somehow. Amu replies that she might have grown a bit, but Ikuto calls her stupid since that's not what he was talking about. Amu thinks about something the first king said before and starts wondering about the Humpty Lock and Dumpty Key again. Then Amuto recap (with tons of stuff left out btw). Amu asks Ikuto where his violin is, but Ikuto doesn't have it with him. Amu asks if it's something important to him, but Ikuto responds by teasing her about how she's asking a lot of questions about him then more stubbornness and teasing (lol, Miki asks where Amu's Cool & Spicy character went).

Tadase comes running up with two umbrellas (one for Amu I assume), but Ikuto comes out and puts Tadase in his tsuntsun bad mood. Ikuto says some things to tick Tadase off, saying Tadase can't open the lock (or whatever) and Tadase says that the Dumpty Key belongs to him and that he'll get it back that day. And so a fight starts up when they each chara-change.

Amu just stands by uselessly for a minute and thinks about how she doesn't know what happened between them in the past, but she won't let them fight (or something). She runs forward and still frame happens (with a shot of First King being all, "I knows everything~!" in his office) and the Humpty Lock starts acting weird. Amu does a new "powered-up" transformation into Amulet Heart which really just looks the same except there's just a new transformation sequence.

This gets Ikuto and Tadase to stop fighting (boys are easily distracted by cheerleaders appearing a flash of light it seems). Ikuto notices the Dumpty Key having a reaction to what happened. Then the charas notice that it stopped raining and that there's a rainbow. Ikuto disappears while everyone else is too distracted by pretty shining rainbow. And everyone continues to be distracted by the pretty shining rainbow (seriously...wtf...).

Meanwhile, the asshole director is talking to Gozen about their new plan. A girl is arriving from France (right?) that will get the embryo for Gozen. And surprises! It's Lulu, the girl from the opening.

So...basically: Amu talks to the first king (and learns nothing), she talks to Ikuto (and thinks the same stuff as always), Ikuto and Tadase fight (for no reason and with no real outcome), and Amu gets a powered-up chara-nari (that looks the same). Oh, and anime-original villain girl showed up at the end and ultimately, she will have no impact on anything either.

Thoughts

My God Satelight is half-assing it now. I heard that a lot of the staff has changed and this episode doesn't leave a single shred of doubt in my mind about that. Even with its fillers, the first season at least put in some effort. I'm just sitting here going, "wtf..." for a lot of the episode. Amu got a power-up for her Chara-Nari in the most obviously shoved in there sort of way. It was, quite frankly, lame.

The Amuto scenes were fun though. Nothing new was developed, but it was fun.

Meh...I took screencaps from Horrible Raw (which really isn't so horrible anymore anyway), but because of my lack of enthusiasm I'm just keeping these screencaps.

lol. There's like five places Ikuto shows up regularly and he's in at least one every episode: in a tree, in front of a full moon, on his house's roof, on Easter's roof, or on this grassy hill.

Personally, I'm a fan of the hill and the trees.

Yoru~! He made Ikuto laugh and look how happy that makes him~! God why are all the charas so darn cute?

Okay, it's not just me, right? This scene looks quite messily done. I mean, Tadase's clothes seem weird to me (it looks like he's slouching too) and Amu's body just looks kind of weird. I'm not just saying that as an Amuto fan, it's the first place I noticed a change in the animation. Things look different.

Now then...don't get too happy Tadase. Amu remembers that Ikuto likes chocolate too.

I want an Utau puppet! I want it like there's no tomorrow! An adorable tsundere puppet! Gimme! Forget plushies (for now).

*runs off to read puppet-making tutorials*

No one else is going to say it, huh? I have to be the one? *sigh* Fine.

The first king doesn't do anything. He tells people the vaguest things that they usually figure out soon on their own anyway. Why bother telling the kids anything if it's not going to help them? Why!?

Ehe~! I don't know, Ikuto being hit with a raindrop just made me giggle.

Silly Amu. Hanging around a place where you've seen Ikuto and knowing what a sneaky catboy he is and you just decide to say his name out loud. Heh. Should have known better. Start expecting to see Ikuto at all minutes of the day already.

This is definitely the best screencap in the whole episode and pretty high up there on the anime-original moments list. However...

Dude it didn't have any purpose at all? After this they went to a commercial break and when they came back they were both just hanging out underneath a tree. I mean, what happened? It's like they just threw it in there as fanservice for the Amuto fans.

I don't really mind though. Random Amuto is fine with me. This just goes to show that Satelight knows who is in control here. That's right, you better keep us happy.

Aw...the stubborn couple returns. They're made for each other. (Seriously, so cute the way they're both being all stubborn and acting like they don't care.)

I'm not entirely sure why (since I'm not entirely sure what happened here), but this was my second favorite moment in the episode. Ikuto said that Amu changed (if my Japanese doesn't suck today) and I want to know how. I think I may have missed something.

But even though I think I missed something I still feel like I got it somehow. I'm not really sure how to explain it, but...yeah.

Return of the Amuto bg. I've missed my blue to pink gradient. (Also, this is just a nice Amuto image, right? ^_^)

Oh! Amu let her Cool & Spicy chara slip and started asking Ikuto questions. Can't pretend like you don't care when you're asking him what's important to him and stuff. Silly girl~!

Of course Ikuto catches it right away and forces Amu back to tsuntsun (and completely shatters her Cool & Spicy act as well btw. Even Miki notices).

Boo! Tadase showed up and ruined my smiling Ikuto fun by making Ikuto act all cool and confrontational (well, Tadase did just challenge him in the last episode...). But boo!

Now personally, I'm not one of the fans who hates Tadase just for getting in Amuto's way. That's stupid. On CR they created a thread complaining about how Tadase saved Amu and Ikuto in episode 51. What the heck? Dumbest thread on CR right now (because it's the one where shipping wars are taking place). But this episode it bothered me specifically because it's really rare that we get to see Ikuto able to just enjoy himself. Even when he's been around Amu it's because something Easter-ish has happened.

So...for today it bothered me, but I blame Satelight for that because they made the situation stupid.

Lame. This fight was so lame. Honestly. There wasn't even a real fight. Episode 01 was a real fight. Episode 42 was a super real fight. This was just...nothing. But I can just blame that on the definite decrease in animation time.

I've said this before, but they used to plan episodes 6 months ahead of time, now it's something like 3 months. New staff probably doesn't help either.

I mean this. It was just a still image of Amu with her lock glowing as they did a scroll-panning thing. What happened to that wind effect from episode 29 when her lock started to glow? Hmm?

Well, I suppose I can just say it's a recap, but I can't be greedy anyway. With less time, I can't expect the same quality.

What the hell. This was so pointless. It's just a new transformation sequence. Is there anything even different about Amulet Heart? Her roller blades haven't shown up yet. It was so overdone and it kind of happened for no reason too.

It ticks me off because this is kind of standard in mahou shoujo anime, a power-up, but usually even that it's for some real reason. Make it happen after Amu fails to beat the enemy next week. That's how mahou shoujo works! Make her need the extra power before you give it to her!

And make it apparent what that power is, because right now it's just Amu feeling like she has more power it seems.

But I love that this was the image right after. To me it looked like both of them were thinking, "Um...isn't that just the same thing as before?" and "What's the deal with all the extra sparkles?"

Of course, that might just be because that's what I was thinking, but even though it got them to stop fighting neither of them really seemed too impressed (to me).

I did like the music during this part though (thought I'd mention it).

Ah. Well then. At least we finally got to this point. The Dumpty Key reacting when the Humpty Lock does something. Now do it when Amu makes a mahou shoujo speech too.

I think this is where my slim belief that this arc won't just be cliche mahou shoujo crap devoid of Cool & Spicy flew right out the window. It's also where my enjoyment in the episode kind of just fell. I was kind of just going through it easily, then I got really happy for my Amuto, then the lame fight kind of deflated that and then this just made me end up back with my low expectations.

A rainbow? I mean, I like rainbows too, but why would that distract you from your new power-up and the fight that was going on just five seconds ago? Can anyone say short attention span?

Ikuto seems to be in character most (if not all) the time now. Amu on the other hand, has me quite worried with this scene (and a couple small moments before this). Please don't screw up my Cool & Spicy heroine Satelight. T_T

One last dig at the quality. The whole design of the characters feels different sometimes. People commented last week on Tadase's hair seeming longer (which it does) and the faces in general just seem a little different too.

They're also using a lot more shortcuts than before (but I kind of expected that). It's going to take some getting used to because I think we've all been spoiled by the first series, which had its awkward moments, but did quite a bit more than you'd expect from a mahou shoujo anime, especially a long one.

But this is still a recap. Perhaps my judgments are premature. It's not like it's bad either...just takes some getting used to.

Ikuto image...because. I want to make up for the ranting before I even get started.

And here we go! Lulu shows up officially next week. I still find her annoying even though she hasn't properly appeared.

First off, I know she was designed by Peach-Pit or whatever. I don't care though. Creators save all their good material for their actual story. And anyway, I don't have a problem hating characters created by Peach-Pit. I hated Tadase for a long time for being too shallow and not well-developed. This girl is just someone brought in to fill time so the manga can get ahead. I doubt she's going to have that much depth.

Sure, she probably has her story we'll find out and that will make her friends with Amu in 20 or so episodes, but what's that story going to be? She's rude because her family situation sucks? Sorry, Rima's got that. She does it because a close family member asked her to? Kairi's got that. She does it for love and simply lost her way? Utau's got that. She's trapped in the company and doesn't even want anything to do with Easter? Ikuto's got that.

I'm not saying there's no other "excuses" for her, but most of the good ones seem to be taken up. The rest of her story is so cliche anyway. She's from another country? Okay either America or France (BAM! I'm almost certain I heard France). As soon as I heard that, I couldn't help but go, "I knew it!"

And judging by that smile, she doesn't mind what she's doing. We saw Utau do her angsting right from the beginning. You either have a blank expression or you show sad faces early on. You can't be evil girl and have all your development thrown it later. In anime (especially with filler characters) it's done too hastily that way.

Ah...and I'm brought to my main problem with this girl. The poses and expressions they've been giving her remind me too much of Utau. The confidence just with some added ojou-sama instead of tsundere. She's an Utau rip-off. You don't rip-off Utau. You just don't. And that pisses me off.

Also, if Peach-Pit did her character design, they didn't do a good job making her blend in. She doesn't fit in with the other characters because her hair...is weird. It makes her stand out and very clearly say, "I don't belong here!"

But that's that. I'm done now. That's just my opinion on it for now.

Now then, to end this on a positive note...I really enjoyed the Amuto scene. It was nice seeing them just talking with each other, because it's at times like that where I tend to enjoy Amuto the most and can remember why I have so little doubt of them being the OTP in my mind.

Just talking comfortably with one another, eventually just acting like their real selves, and really having a conversation. It just makes me smile somehow.

So for that alone I can be happy and say that this episode wasn't a waste of my time. I can sit through the crap for these small moments, because not much makes me smile like Amuto during these tough days. There's still other things, but not many. It's another reason I'd like to keep blogging as well. Other people who want to see this stuff but just don't have the time to watch fillers every week deserve to see it as well.

And if I must be the one to sift through some crap, then so be it! I don't really mind.

Preview

Lulu makes her official entrance in an episode titled "Eh? A New Friend?" Which kind of makes me wonder if Lulu is going to pretend to be friends with Amu. The betrayal thing was already done with Kairi, so I hope now.

Anyway, Lulu is going to be making people do random ugly chara-nari's when she forces a crazy smiling question mark on their eggs or something. I don't know. All I know is it's stupid. I couldn't be any more reminded of various Sailor Moon villains.

People have already mentioned that maybe Lulu will become a romantic rival (or try to be one) for either Ikuto or Tadase, but eh. I'll comment on that next week, but even if I think it might provide some entertainment for now, it'll make me even more meh-ish on the cliches. And it always feels weird when an original character likes a regular character to me.

But one last thing. Let's start taking bets now. Who wants to bet that Lulu is going back to whatever country she came from once her arc is over? Really making the next 20 or so episodes even more useless than the fillers of the past.

...I do. And I actually hope I'm right because I don't want any interference in Ikuto's arc, thank you very much.

Finally! Nagisa! Oh I missed you so much! I was going to curl up in my closet if it took even one more day to see you. Nagisa~!

...That silliness of mine aside, I'm glad Clannad is back. I'm not sure if this stuff is from the VN (or rather necessary for the story), but since I'm keeping away from the VN until after the anime is over I'm fine. As a fan of Nagisa and just the anime, I am satisfied.

I'm going to keep my Clannad posts nice and loose since everyone and their mom is going to be blogging Clannad this season. I'm keeping summaries, speculation, spoilers, and anything real out of it. Every week is just going to be my thoughts. Done in the regular fangirling way you are accostomed to.

Example: Nagisa~! I love you~! Sing the Dango Daikazoku song! Please?

Of course, later the posts will just be full of baaaaw-ing, but still...who cares? Clannad is back with 50% more Nagisa! Did you see the OP!? Nagisa was everywhere!!! And that's enough to satisfy me.

Hm...basically, I like them both. But once again, since Clannad is being reviewed by everyone, we're keeping this "everyone" stuff to a minimum. I'm going to do what I do best...image spam of a cute girl (Nagisa).

You know, there's about 11 different shots of Nagisa in the OP. Considering how many other characters there are, that's freakin' awesome. And yes, it's just Nagisa.

As far as the actual song goes, it's called Toki wo Kizamu Utau and it's by Lia who does...tons of songs for Key really. There were two filler songs for Clannad that she did I think (Ana and Over). If I could redo my Top Ten Openings now, I'd replace Megumeru with this too. There's nothing too special about it since it reminds me of every other Lia song, but I absolute love all Lia songs and this is certainly no exception. Also...the animation is just so pretty (especially the shots of Nagisa).

The way the animation goes reminds me of both the previous Clannad OP and Air's OP because of all the sky effects.

I think the whole thing fits the mood nicely for both the light-hearted episodes and the future dramatic episodes. Animation and song are both just, very mellow and I love it. The ending song though...

Another Lia song (Torch). I think it fits fine now, but it's going to feel odd when an episode ends dramatically. It's really just a typical ED. Nice song with some typical scenery shots and the characters just walking by. It felt like they paraded every single character from last season by us (I skipped by it all with just the old teacher and NagisaxTomoya shot). But really, there's nothing much to say except...not enough dango. And of course, I saw that cute little girl in the beginning, did you?

You know, it seems like we saw more of her in the OP of season one than just the quick image in this season's OP and her running at the beginning of this ED. Seems odd, but whatever.

Thoughts

Even though it felt like this was an odd way to start the After Story, I'm just glad to have Clannad (and Nagisa) back again. I won't worry about, "Will they have enough time!?" like I did last season and just enjoy the ride.

After all, this episode was incredibly entertaining and that's what counts. All of the characters got to show their quirks and it was just so ROFL-worthy sometimes. There was so much to enjoy that I, once again, overdid my screencaps and had to delete quite a few. But the best (Nagisa) are all in there.

Tomoya was cute when he was little. I want to see a full non-shadowy image of him when he was little. (Please Kyo-Ani?)

lol, This ended up being so useless. Tomoya caught the ball and even if he hadn't, Nagisa didn't push him out of the way and didn't get in the way of the ball. However, I'm not complaining one bit! Go Nagisa!!!

Ah I missed the mealtime antics at the Furukawa home. Sanae and Nagisa are mostly just spectators, but that adds to all the ridiculous humor. Since Tomoya is the only one who ever thinks something odd is going on in that house. Ah, I love it and I missed it so much!

Eheh. Nothing to say except...^_^ (I'm all smiley and giggly again~!-

You know I think Tomoya is the funniest character in the series. Maybe that's just because of how my own family works, but still. I love that serious delivery. And of course Yuichi Nakamura gets credit too! He can say some freakin' ridiculous lines completely seriously ("Neko Ranger Blue!!!" ROFL).

And of course, if Tomoya wasn't around a lot of other characters wouldn't even get the chance to be funny! Remember that!

Ah, more Sunohara abuse. Can never get enough of it.

All the people around Tomoya are so gullible. Even Tomoyo fell for it. We're not making fun of Nagisa because she's cute, but Sunohara? This is a lie about you! Why did you fall for it?

Misae-san~! Too bad that I don't think we'll be seeing much more of her this season. I hope we get to see her beat up at least one person or something. I want to hear Satsuki Yukino's angry voice...

Ah, this is where all the shipping fans differ in their opinions. I think Nagisa handles Tomoya's situation with his father the best. She got him out of the house, but tries to gently bring them back together in the meantime. Everyone else...is stupid and wrong. That's that.

Cute twin-tailed loli voiced by Yukarin is a go!!! Ah Mei is probably my second favorite Clannad girl (No, I'm not joking) so I'm oh, so glad to see her again. And maybe next week as well! Yay~! (She's so cute when she actually gets a little shy...)

What the heck Tomoyo? I don't remember you being this cute last season! I remember you being a super perfect, can-do-anything Class President. Not that I'm complaining. This was fun to see. It's like they were trying to show why Tomoyo beat Kotomi in SaiMoe.

Kotomi doesn't bother me like she does for other people. In fact, I like that she's still around even though she pretty much does nothing useful. She's a lot more entertaining after her arc ended. She's not just the moeblob with a touching story anymore. She's the moeblob who adds humor by being a genius moeblob. And I like it!

Sunohara was so useless (in a good way ^_^_. You'd think that someone who was so good at sports in the past would at least do a little bit better. (Also, this is the only screencap of Kyou...sorry about that fanboys)

Ha. Kotomi screwed up too and she got encouraged instead of scolded. Too bad for you Sunopi. You just don't make a pretty enough girl (wait...what?).

Oh my god! Tomoya did it! No wai!!! I'm sorry, but the victory party bothered me much more than you'd think it should. I'm a big fan of sports movies and stories and they just ruined! Not fair!

However, it's okay because Nagisa looked adorable running to home.

Oh yeah...and to ruin our baseball party and remind us there's a plot. Seriously...for just a moment...when are we going to be hitting the plot?

But ignoring that again, quite simply, I just enjoyed Clannad like I always do. It's fun and it makes me smile (which you should have guessed by the fact that I mentioned smiling quite a bit). So maybe not everyone thinks the After Story is doing what it's supposed in regards to the plot, but hey. Right now I'm satisfied just like I was last season. Because I'm entertained. That's enough for me.

It’s really very similar to other games out there in terms of gameplay, scoring, etc. You should still give it a try as it uses YouTube videos for music and background. This means two things. The game looks cool (in my opinion) Possibility of new tracks is endless. Who could ask for more? (Actually you could ask for a smoother, less choppy gameplay on systems that hasn’t got a dual core cpu) Right click and select “low quality” it helps.

Rock Band - This game is awesome. It has a downloadable song feature for the Xbox 360 and PS3, but not for Wii and PS2.:(

Rock Band 2 - This game has a feature to import your downloaded Songs from Rock Band 1. Since Rock Band for the PS2 and Wii doesn't have a feature which lets you download songs , you can't import songs from Rock Band 1 on the PS2 and Wi. Word's out that there's going to be a feature to download songs on Wii.

Well that surprised me. Amidst all the little chara antics there was some actual plot. Well, anime plot anyway. None of this stuff ever happened in the manga.

Ikuto showed up a bit and for more than just flicking Yoru away. Kinda surprised me. But maybe it shouldn't have since this was supposed to be one of the last two episodes originally.

I don't think I have anything to really add on that doesn't involve the episode this week because of that little post I did last night with some Shugo Chara news.

Just that somehow the new season of Shugo Chara! is getting my excitement back. I've been rather, "meh" about the whole series recently, but looking for news like I used to in the past is getting me all excited again. This episode wasn't even really anything that special, but I was still excited and enjoyed every last bit of it.

How long this will last however is another story, but I think I can stay excited at least until after the new season starts.

Summary

The episode begins with the embryo wandering around (yes, seriously) and it wanders to Amu's house where Su sees it through the window. Then it passes by Kiseki who sees it, but then thinks he just saw the moon.

At the royal garden the next day, the Guardians have a whole bunch of research about the embryo gathered by Kairi. They talk a little about the embryo and Su tries to bring up what she saw, but is interrupted by Yaya who claims she has the embryo in a box. Kiseki opens it and a fake bird just pops out of an egg, ticking him off severely.

Meanwhile at some random Easter building, the three stupid scientists are at work on building the second version of their embryo-finding machine. They get too busy celebrating and don't notice a danger sign and a bunch of x-eggs sneak away. Ikuto and Yoru are outside, Yoru notices the x-eggs and wakes Ikuto up. Ikuto notices the shining egg nearby which they think might be the embryo and gets ready to go after it, but an explosion from the building gets his attention long enough for the eggs to disappear.

Ikuto goes to investigate the building and Yukari's stalked explains to him about their little invention, but while he's explaining Ikuto leaves. The stalker gets a phone call from the director who wants him to do something else involving Ikuto. As they walk away, Ikuto lets Yoru know he figured something out about the embryo, but keeps it to himself.

Amu reads through some of the books Kairi collected, not understanding much. Kiseki and Miki are looking for the embryo and Kiseki tells her about thinking that he saw the embryo through some thick clouds. Su tries to bring up what she saw again, but gets interrupted. Miki explains to Ran who misunderstands and ends up thinking of a black spider. She tells KusuKusu and Pepe who add to the story by making it a big black spider who swallowed the embryo. They go to Daichi who goes to ask Kukai where the spider is and gets that he's at the devil's castle which appears on a full moon (or something) because he's playing a video game (And this game of telephone is complete lolz).

On Easter's roof Ikuto finally explains to Yoru, it's when there's a lot of eggs around that the emrbyo appears, but Ikuto shuts Yoru up when Stalker-san appears (to share his lunch =_=;) and touches Ikuto's shoulder before he leaves. It's then revealed that he put a tiny camera on Ikuto for the director (no wai! Yukari's stalker became Ikuto's stalker!). So if Ikuto knows anything about the embryo, they'll find it soon. Then the director just says some ominous evil things that make him more of an asshole.

The next day the charas have a meeting while the guardians are in school where the end of the spider story makes it back to Kiseki. That night is a full moon (lol, like every night) so they can go after the embryo at long last! So begins the charas' little RPG fantasy where they go after the embryo in the castle.

Later, the Easter scientists are watching monitors for the camera planted on Ikuto and learn how boring it is to keep watch on a cat napping. Ikuto already found the camera and put it on Yoru instead. And Stalker-san is feeling down (good, loser ^_^).

That night the charas go out to find the castle (Daichi was brought along even though Kukai isn't in the guardians anymore). Kiseki doesn't know where the castle is but they're just going to search for it anyway. And then the most random chara adventure montage follows. At one point Su gets left behind and reunites with her doggy friend from episode 10 (the one that belongs to Amu's fanboy).

At home, Amu has been busy studying the embryo stuff so she just notices that her charas are gone and finds a note about going to look for the embryo from them. She meets up with the other guardians whose charas have also gone off. Su finds them coincidentally and tells them she got left behind and tells them they're looking for the castle.

The charas find their castle in the form of the random Easter building, but Miki and Daichi find it suspicious. Yoru appears and asks what they're doing, after Kiseki refuses to tell him, Pepe starts telling him everything. The Easter scientists hear all this (and recognize Pepe as a Guardian's chara for some reason) and they find out the signal is coming from right outside. Su leads the Guardians to the other charas (by sensing them or whatever). Ran and Miki gets scolded by Amu and Su once they arrive. Kieseki explains what they're doing there, then Yoru comes out screaming for some reason and Pepe knocks him with a harisen (which makes the camera fall off). Inside they find nothing but the machine (and my Japanese gets a little fuzzy) and Pepe and KusuKusu end up going after the machine and accidentally turning it on.

They all take cover from the machine until they find out there's an x-egg around. Amu transforms into Amulet Clover and with Tadase's help, she heals the egg. Once they're done Yoru seems disappointed that the embryo didn't show up, and Ikuto shows up. He tells the guardians that they're in an Easter building which makes the charas realize it's not a castle. Then their little game of telephone is revealed and it's all revealed to be a misunderstanding. Then they're interrupted by the scientists hurrying down the stairs, so the guardians leave (but not before Amu looks back at Ikuto). The scientists arrive to find everything messed up and Ikuto jumps down.

The director arrives at the building to find out what happened (the machine is broken). Ikuto starts to leave but is stopped by the director. Ikuto says he doesn't have the embryo (or something along those lines) and tosses the camera to the director (pissing him off) and leaves. (Then something along the lines about how Tsukiyomi's have to work for Easter is said by the director. I'm not sure.)

At home the charas comment about how they couldn't find the embryo. Su finally gets her chance to tell everyone she saw the emrbyo, but no one believes her. Then it just ends with the embryo wandering about in the night sky again.

(Hmm, I wonder if I enjoyed the episode more than I expected to because I understood more than usual...)

Thoughts

Satelight pulled out their old tricks again. I haven't even been able to say, "Oh snap! You tricky plot ninjas!" about Satelight since episode 26. But damn they're being tricky plot ninjas again. They snuck in all sorts of development nd enjoyment recently. It's all anime-original of course, but when you're expecting nothing it's still a nice surprise.

But still, I don't have a lot to say. So I overdid the Ikuto screencaps again (hey, if it's what the readers want, I can't deny them). I had so many that I had to delete some (agh!) because I know I'm not the only one out there blogging SC! (You better load up too amayalee!)

Aw, Su~! Though I have to say quickly, what was up with the Embryo (or excuse me "embryo" I have to keep saying that until we know for sure) just wandering around. More, "let just do this!" writing from Satelight I guess.

Back to the important topic though...Su~! She hasn't gotten the spotlight in a while (and all my attention was diverted to Eru) so I forgot how cute she was.

I miss you Kairi. Why do these sadists keep bringing him up? It's not fair! You should have had him stick around longer!!! *grumpy*

This was like...one joke in the episode. Why did they make it the description? I don't get it. So it could be spoiler-free I guess? Not like any of those spoilers are important anyway. Any progress they make with finding the embryo will just be reset for next season so they can follow the manga.

I was pretty surprised when I saw how often Ikuto was on the screencaps on 2ch. He really showed up in the episode quite a bit. Lately it's like we've been getting the most anime-original Ikuto we've ever had. Though...really that just means he's showing up now even when they don't have something from the manga to build from.

And the plot they've come up with to end the season while making Ikuto involved is so full of plot holes. For now I don't mind though, because a day where I can step back and say, "Whoa! I have too many screencaps of Ikuto!" is a very good day indeed.

And the best part about all of this anime-original stuff is that I can't shout, "Agh! That's not Ikuto!" because he's acting pretty much in character. If there's anything bad going on, I know I'm not noticing it (if you guys find anything it's just because you're looking).

Oh yeah. Breaking the fangirl mood for a minute here. Asshole director.

To be honest, I didn't think any specific death for him this time. Once he appeared on screen though I just started thinking, "Die in a fire. Die in a fire. Die in a fire." over and over so I guess that will do for this week.

Back to the regular fangirling now. Ikuto~! He can't even tell his chara any little secrets right away. Has to keep them to himself for a while. That's just how the mysterious boys do things I suppose (and it makes me giggle-laugh to myself).

Ah yes. The game of telephone. Let me make it clearer here. (Though first, if you didn't get what I meant by telephone, in this case wikipedia is your friend)

Miki explained to Ran about what Kiseki was saying using "kuroi kumo" which Miki meant as thick fog and clouds, but Ran took as a dark/black spider. Then Ran told Pepe who made a bunch of stuff up about the spider eating the embryo, and then the castle stuff came from Daichi thinking Kukai was answering his question when he was really just talking about his game. I think I made most of it clear in my summary, but I wanted to be sure.

And speaking of Kukai...why? Why was this his only appearance? Not fair. At least we get to see him next week I supposed (but still no Utau which is even more unfair).

lol, chara abuse. Though you really can't blame Ikuto, considering the way Yoru acts sometime (so loud).

Really puts things in focus, doesn't it? Makes you understand just how very lame Stalker-san is. (No, Ikuto didn't fall for your ridiculous plan. Don't be stupid.)

I love this image because of Ikuto's expression. It's like you can tell what he's thinking. He totally wanted to just shove that guy off the roof. But I guess he managed not to because that's not as cool as just walking away. Ikuto knows he has to be cool at all times or the fangirls will appear on Satelight's doorstep.

Oh this was fun for the RPG players. Su was a white mage, Miki was a dark mage (or just a witch), Pepe was a random warrior (you know the ones), Ran was a swordsman, Kiseki was the leader, and Daichi was the prisoner you meet along the way (they're actually pretty common...). It was all fitting. Then of course there was KusuKusu the jester, which was oh so fitting, but not something I'm familiar with (but hey, I think entertainers appear in some MMORPGs anyway).

Yeah, this was all fun for me (especially Su bringing the enemies back to life), but that's just because I'm a minor Final Fantasy addict. Others may just go through the whole thing not understanding a thing.

And now a break from charas for the return to fangirling. Obviously, Ikuto is one step ahead of everyone. Why? Because he's Ikuto. That is all/

Aw, as much as I said I wouldn't be interested in the adventure this week, this was all flipping cute and random. It's like lately they've been reminding you of things from the past, but instead of going, "seen this...move on" it's, "Aww...cute..." instead. At least for me.

...Cute. Just...freakin' cute.

Su has become my third favorite chara again. At least for this week.

I love how Pepe just started explaining things. She has officially been added to the ranking at number...five or six. I'm not sure.

Okay, to be honest I had to add this screencap in because I realized I had none of Amu...and she's the heroine. Though, in my defense...she didn't do much anyway this episode. I'd venture to say that Ikuto had the same amount of screenttime (except with more important stuff going on).

Aw. We can't complain about Amulet Clover not appearing for weeks. I'm almost disappointed. Well...I'll still complain about Amulet Heart appearing anyway. Since Clover and Spade never get to appear for anime-original plot-related episodes.

Aw...Amu's already so familiar with Yoru, it's freakin' cute. I didn't have anything specific to say again here, just saving a screencap because it's cute. It speaks for itself.

Eh? Why didn't Tadase get all tsundere (yeah, that's right) and shout "Tsukiyomi Ikuto!!" like usual? I almost...missed it. (What's wrong with me?) Though I say that's just because it felt OOC for him not to do that. Especially when Ikuto's just appearing randomly.

Poor Su. By the time she got to see what she'd been trying to all episode, no one believed her. There, there Su. I believe you. And I'm sure Eru would too (ha, random, but Eru totally would have).

Though the screencap is funny out of context, like she's thinking, "What the heck is wrong with these guys?" and pitying them (or something). Though that might just be tired little me.

Preview

So considering that episode 51 was originally supposed to be the big finale of the show and considering the anime-original "Easter villains" from the past few episodes, you would guess that the next episode would be showdown time.

And you would be right.

Though the surprising thing is, for once Satelight seemed to actually do a preview that makes you go, "OMGNOWAI!" about the next episode. I mean, anyone who follows the manga knows what's going to end up happening overall, but I'm still curious about this specific screencap (and this one).

I'm going to keep from speculating about anything this time so I can just go along with anything they toss into the episode.

Oh yeah...and more Kukai next week. That's good too.
