George Lucas er mannen bak hele Star Wars universet. Elsket av science-fiction-fans over hele verden for den første trilogien, og hatet av minst like mange for den andre. Revenge of the Sith er da den sjette filmen kronologisk sett, og den filmen som skal binde sammen den nye trilogien og den gamle. Med unntak av å regissere Star Wars-episodene I, II, III og IV, har Lucas regissert THX 1138 og American Graffiti, samtidig som han står bak mye av Indiana Jones-filmene. God kompis med Steven Spielberg.

Skuespillerne er en blanding av etablerte stjerner og folk som har hele karrieren bygget på Star Wars. Ewan McGregor har vært med i gode filmer som Trainspotting og Big Fish, Natalie Portman i Leon, Heat og V for Vendetta, mens Hayden Christensen nylig har vært med i mindre gode filmer som Jumper.

Klonekrigene har vart i tre år, og problemene blir ikke mindre. Padme (Portman) er gravid med Anakins (Christensen) barn, og det virker som en svært mørk skjebne ligger foran dem. Anakin blir desperat, og lar seg lure av Palpatine (McDiarmid) til å nærme seg den mørke siden av kraften. Jeg tror ikke det er en spoiler å si at han gir seg helt over i forsøket på å redde Padme, svikter jedi-ordenen og læremester Obi-Wan Kenobi (McGregor), og ender opp som en av filmverdenens mest ikoniske skurker noensinne. Darth Vader.

Det er ca. 3,5 år siden jeg skulle se denne på kino for første gang. Forventningene var høye, men jeg var jo fullt klar over at episode I og II var ganske store skuffelser. Fremdeles ganske gøy, men enorme feilsteg (Jar Jar Binks) ødela mye. "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..." i blå skrift, og den velkjente musikken kommer sammen med åpningsteksten. Velkjent og bra, foreløpig fint. Teksten forsvinner inn i universet, kameraet tilter nedover, vi ser en oransje planet, som i fyr og flamme, og et stort romskip som svever over. To små, raske romskip kommer flyvende kjapt nedover. Kameraet følger dem i det de flyter langs overflaten av det store skipet, helt fram til de tipper over "kanten", og vi kan se ned mot bakken på planeten langt, langt der nede. En enorm romslagmark spekket med romskip av alle fasonger, et virvar uten like, laserskudd av alle farger som flyr til alle kanter. Fra det øyeblikket var jeg solgt. For et fantastisk syn! Hele åpningssekvensen fortsatte over all forventning, og endte med en spektakulær krasjlanding på planeten med et av de større skipene.

Utrolig underholdende actionscener som ser bedre ut enn noengang før. En tragisk historie som klarer å binde sammen de to trilogiene på en stort sett tilfredsstillende måte. En storslått slutt, med den beste lyssaberduellen av alle filmene, Anakin Skywalker mot sin mentor Obi-Wan Kenobi. Jeg vil ikke avsløre det store synet, som kommer mot slutten av denne, men jeg viser gjerne fram den nest beste, fra episode I:

Som alltid er Star Wars-universet en veldig fornøyelig plass å oppholde seg. Kostymene er flotte og varierte, akkurat som designet på de forskjellige vesnene som befinner seg på forskjellige planeter. Må jo også dra fram lyddesign, som Star Wars-filmene alltid har vært veldig gode på.

Dette er en film jeg er fullt klar over har en del feil. George Lucas har aldri vært noe særlig god til å skrive dialog, og Hayden Christensen er rett og slett en ikke særlig god skuespiller. Det kunne fort ødelagt for denne filmen også, men det funker faktisk mye bedre når Anakin skal gå mot den mørke siden. Kynisk sinne er mindre vanskelig å spille enn følsomhet, omtenksomhet og et forvirret sinn dratt mellom gode og onde krefter, så mot slutten er det en sann glede å se på spillet mellom Christensen og McGregor. I tillegg er det jo ikke å komme unna at det blir noen kontinuitetsfeil mellom de gamle og de nye filmene, mest merkbart ved at de to kjente og kjære droidene, C-3PO og R2-D2, også spiller store roller i den nye trilogien, og at for eksempel Obi-Wan Kenobi skal ha glemt ut R2-D2 ca. 20 år senere, til tross for at droiden har fått han ut av en vanskelig situasjon mang en gang. Men totalt sett så er de gode tingene med denne filmen mer enn nok for å oppveie de dårlige, og den fortjener absolutt sin plass blant mine favorittfilmer.

Filmen har en rating på 7.9/10 på IMDb, med 146 436 stemmer. Den ble kun nominert til en Oscar, for sminke. Burde vel kanskje ha fått nominasjoner for visuelle effekter, kostyme og lyddesign i det minste, men sånn er det. Som alltid, sjekk ut traileren til slutt, og se denne filmen!

Former Sen. Mike DeWine of Cedarville and former U.S. Reps. John R. Kasich of Westerville and Rob Portman of Cincinnati are wooing the roughly 500 Ohioans here for the convention, a contingent that encompasses the most influential members of the Ohio GOP.

Kasich and Portman are spending thousands of dollars to host Ohio delegation breakfasts.

Kasich, especially, has been active this year as a fundraiser and speaker at political events across the Buckeye State.

Portman said his PAC, Ohio's Future, "helps me to keep my options open" for possible runs for governor or U.S. Senate. But he quickly added that he hasn't decided what he is going to do and his focus this year is solely on aiding McCain and other GOP candidates.

Most delegates interviewed said it's too early to align with a candidate for governor, but a number said the party needs new blood and many view Kasich and Portman, both in their early 50s, as the party's next generation of leaders.

While there is much time and important work to do before anyone starts focusing on 2010, it sure is refreshing to see these three Pro-Life individuals all seriously considering a run at Pro-Abortion Governor Ted Strickland.  Mike DeWine has a strong Pro-Life record and so does Rob Portman.  We have been told that John Kasich is also Pro-Life.

Bottom line, Ohio Right to Life has a  great opportunity to make their voices heard and support the best pro-life candidate for Governor 2010.

Using John Hawkins' top 24 list from February and dismissing those who have already been ruled out, here's who I could see being announced in just a couple hours:

The shakedown:

Dole would be a disaster. Rice is supremely unlikely. Blackburn would be ... off the wall.

Colin Powell would violate the "traditional" standard, considering he is a supporter of abortion rights and conservative leaders specifically warned McCain against such a pick just this week. Still, check out this poll. Unbeatable?

Portman would be the biggest letdown ever.

Sanford and Perry are both popular conservative governors ...

Fred Thompson is nowhere in sight.

So ... how about Eric Cantor?

خلاصه داستان :

ماجرای فیلم در رابطه با دو خواهر زیبا به نام های آن و مری ( دختران سرتوماس بولین) است که خواهر کوچکتر یعنی مری آماده ازدواج با جوانی از شهرشان است . دایی و پدر این دو دختر که انسانهای مذهبی و متعصبی  وبه دنبال پست و مقامی بالا نزد شاه هنری انگلستان هستند ،  در دیداری که قرار است شاه از شهر داشته  باشد به دختر بزرگتر ( آن ) سفارش می کنند که توجه و علاقه شاه را جلب کند . چون ملکه انگلستان همسر شاه  دیگر بچه دار نمی شود و پسری به دنیا نیاورده که بتواند وارث تخت پادشاهی بشود و این مساله توجه شاه را به دنبال همبستر دیگری متمرکز می کند . شاه با آن آشنا می شود و صبح فردا برای شکار با هم به جنگل می روند که به دلیل اشتباهی از آن ، شاه زخمی شده و برای مراقبت از وی ، مری را به نزد شاه می فرستند . شاه هنری مری را می بیند و وی را که تازه ازدواج کرده ، به قصر فرا می خواند و ماجراهایی بین این دو خواهر و تک برادرشان پیش می آید که دیدنی است .

نقد فیلم :

ابتدا باید راجع به کارگردان انگلیسی  این فیلم مطلبی را عنوان کرد که وی تا به حال فقط سریال می ساخته ، جوان است و این اولین فیلم بلند سینمایی وی محسوب می شود .

اگر بخواهم در ارتباط با متن رمان و تفاوت آن با فیلمنامه و کلا ساختار فیلم در مقایسه با آن توضیح دهم ، مطالعه متن اصلی رمان را می طلبد که فعلا موفق به یافت آن نشدم و اجازه صحبت در این مورد را ندارم . اما باید ذکر کنم که اکثر رمان های انگلیسی  به زیبایی احساسات کاراکترها و چیدمان صحنه را توضیح می دهند ، اما فیلم با جزیئات کامل آنها را به تصویر نمی کشد و ممکن است اگر داستان کمی پیچیده باشد بیننده ماجرای فیلم را به طور کامل متوجه نشود و به خواندن رمان نیاز پیدا کند .

ماجرای فیلم بسیار تند سپری می شد و مشخص بود که حذفیات زیاد دارد و زمان زیادی برای ساخت فیلم در نظر گرفته نشده بود . کارگردان قصد داشت که فیلم ریتم تند و در حال جریان خود را حفظ کند ، اما در قسمت هایی موفق نبود . یکی از این فیلم هایی از این قبیل  که به نظر من از این قاعده مستثنی بود ، شجاع دل ، شاهکاری از مل گیبسن بود که ریتم آهنگین خود را در سراسر فیلم حفظ کرد و به  زیبایی به شخصیت پردازی و ایجاد فضایی نامحدود برای برقراری ارتباط با تماشاگر پرداخت  و شاید به سختی بتوان چنین اشکالاتی در آن یافت . این فیلم نیز می خواست ریتمی مانند ریتم شجاع دل را پیدا کند که به هیچ وجه چنین نشد و زمان 115 دقیقه برای این مهم امکان پذیر نبود .

 اما داستان فیلم ، داستانی متفاوت بود و این خود نکته مثبتی در ارتباط با فیلم است. اگر بخواهیم فیلمی دیگر که از لحاظ موضوع شباهت زیادی به این فیلم داشت نام ببریم ، می توان به واتل (2000) ساخته رولند جوف با هنرنمایی ژرارد دوپاردیو اشاره کرد .

 این فیلم در فستیوال برلین سال 2008 به نمایش در آمد و در فستیوال تین چویس نیز در رشته بهترین بازیگر زن ( اسکارلت جوهانسون ) نامزد شد . زیاد مورد توجه منتقدان و سینماگران و خصوصا مردم واقع نشد و مورد استقبال خوبی قرار نگرفت .

فیلمبرداری فیلم در حد معمولی ، مانند سایر فیلم هایی از این نوع بود و حالت خشک انگلیسی خود را حفظ کرده بود .

حال به بیان مسائلی که در فیلم مورد اعتراض واقع شده بود می پردازیم . تعصبات مذهبی مسیحی کاتولیک و ارتباط آن با دربار شاه ، اعتقادات و رسوم خانواده ها  و کلا نقش تمام این عوامل در زندگی دختران در زمان شاه هنری انگلستان ، محور اصلی این فیلم بود . اعتقاداتی که گاه آنها را بالاجبار در اختیار پادشاهی قرار می داد . رسم و رسومی که دیگر در دنیای امروز جایی ندارند و حق و حقوقی که به هیچ عنوان شایسته بشر نبوده و کاملا غیر منطقی دنبال می شد . چاپلوسی دربار ، حسادت ، زیراب زنی و … خیلی مسائل دیگر وجود داشت که تماشاگر را مبهوت می کند و بیننده نمی تواند با این فضای سیاه ارتباط برقرار کند . هر چند که واقعیتی بیش نیست . واقعیتی که تلخ است و هنوز در خیلی جوامع آثارش را می توان یافت . اتفاقی که در سکانس های پایانی می افتد ، فیلم را با سایر که در این ژانر ساخته می شوند متفاوت می کند و هیجانی خاص به فیلم می بخشد . سرنوشت هر یک از شخصیت ها در نوع خود جالب است که در پایان فیلم روایت می شود .

قوانین بی پایه واساس و تعصب گرایانه دربار و نقش آنها در صدور حکم دادگاهی و تاثیر مستقیم نمایندگان دینی و مذهبی کاتولیک در این نوع احکام و تصمیمات نابخردانه و ظالمانه آنها یکی از موارد اعتراض این فیلم بود که در بسیاری از فیلم های از این نوع دیده بودیم .

نشان دادن وضعیت زن در جامعه دیروز و مقایسه آن به صورت تحت الفظی با وضعیت زن در جامعه امروز و اینکه مرد در زمان های گذشته چه قدرت و اختیاراتی داشته و چگونه علایق ، احساسات ، خلاقیات و خیلی خواسته های زن سرکوب می شده نیز از نکاتی بود که به خوبی به تصویر کشیده شد .

به طور کل فیلم محتوی پیام بزرگی بود اما کارگردان در فضاسازی و مخصوصا این نوع حال و هوا کمی خام و بی تجربه عمل کرد . با این حرف نمی خواهم اثر کارگردان را زیر سوال ببرم ، چون مطالعه بر روی یک اثر ساعت وقت می طلبد و نظر من نمی تواند دلیل بر ضعیف بودن فیلم باشد .

But that's just my opinion.  Since we're talking about the GOP's nominee, perhaps it would be useful to look at how Romney did in the GOP primary.

There are six states Real Clear Politics says are "battleground states".  These are Colorado, Virginia, Missouri, Michigan, Ohio and Florida.  Over 4.5 million GOP votes were cast in those states.  Four states voted prior to Romney's gracious exit on February 7th.

The two after the CPAC speech, Ohio and Virginia, probably would have split between Romney and McCain had Romney stayed in.  Nevertheless, lets just look at the actual vote totals.

So, how did Romney do?  Here's the final Washington Post numbers:

Virginia Feb 12 (non-competitive):

Missouri Feb 5 (competitive):

Michigan - Feb 5 (competitive):

Ohio - Feb 12 (non-competitive):

So, even though he was not running in two of the races, Romney still ended up with almost 1.2 million votes, second only to McCain.  Romney won two of the contests, CO & MI, and narrowly lost FL, three states considered critical to McCain's general election strategy.

As I've mentioned in another article, VP Buzz:  McCain needs Romney, McCain lost big time to Romney in 5 of 10 states with less than 5% margin of victory for Bush in ‘04: IA, NV, MI, MN & CO.  Net, net - Romney on the ticket may add 47 to 61 electors.  Bush beat Kerry by only 34 electors.

Of course, none of the other potential suitors, Jindal, Pawlenty, Palin, Crist or Cantor, felt strong enough, as candidates, to run in the 2008 primary.  They are each doing great things for the GOP and the country in their current roles.  However, we have no idea what they bring to the table, except their own states. 

I still say, Romney 4 VP = Win 4 McCain.

That's because McCain, who has poked conservatives in the eye so much we wince at the mention of his name, has, nonetheless, managed to secure the GOP nomination.  As such, who the VP is will tell us whether to rally behind McCain enthusiastically (go door to door, phone, give money), start taking a harder look at Bob Barr (yikes!) or just sit this election out.

All is well if McCain nominates a good conservative.  For me, Mitt Romney is far and away the best choice for VP because, frankly, he would have made a better President than McCain.  So, having him on the ticket makes a lot of sense if McCain is looking at who's ready from day one to lead our country, if needed. 

If he wants to pick the best General Election VP, the answer is Romney again.  While we can guess that Mr. Cantor may help with VA and FL and the Jewish vote, we know for a fact that Mitt will help with IA, NV, MI, MN, ME, UT & CO – states Romney won handily in the GOP primary.  Many of these states Bush won by less than 5% in 2004 so having Romney help with these particular states sets him apart from Cantor, Pawlenty, Palin, Crist or Portman.  They each add one or two key states - Romney adds 7 to 9 key states. 

Net, net - Romney on the ticket may add 47 to 61 electors. 

Bush beat Kerry by only 34 electors.  In addition, while Cantor may have helped McCain raise 10 million, Romney raised $100 million during the primary and can probably go back to those folks for even more in the general.  As an added bonus, Romney is worth about $500 million - having a deep pocket on the ticket may prove useful if Obama's friends (moveon.org, George Soros) try to stack the deck.

So, I still like Romney for VP and would encourage Mr. Cantor to continue his valuable work in the U.S. House - the McCain-Romney administration will need his help next January :-)

Portman (ASX: PMM) said profits were boosted by the increase in the benchmark price of iron ore with increases of 80 per cent for fines and 97 per cent for lump agreed earlier this year.

The iron ore miner, which is 85 per cent owned by Cleveland-Cliffs, said it expects to produce 8 million tonnes of iron ore in 2008, with 7.7 million tonnes coming from its Koolyanobbing operation and 300,000 tonnes from Cockatoo Island.

Portman said the pre-feasibility study of a potential expansion of Koolyanobbing beyond 8.5 million tonnes a year is planned to be completed during the second quarter of 2009.

Obama

·         Needs – Caucasian; Experience, preferably out of Washington to keep with the mantra of “change” but with enough DC experience to overcome his political adolescence; Acceptability to all of the disgruntled Hillary supporters.

·         Conventional Wisdom – Evan Bayh, Tim Kaine, Joe Biden, Kathleen Sebelius.

·         F&T’s Insight – Neither of these choices meet fully the needs of the candidate and after deep contemplation, there is one name that rises to the top, and that man is Martin Sheen. This would be an inspired selection, Sheen played President longer than Jimmy Carter did (and better I might add), he is also so far to the left that Obama would look like Herbert Hoover in comparison. Every fringe group in America loves him and he has a great screen presence. Additionally, this choice would shake up McCain so much, that he would have to change his Depends.

McCain

·         Needs – Non-Washington experience; Being under the age of 80; Acceptability to the conservative base.

·         Conventional Wisdom – Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty, Charlie Crist, Bobby Jindal, Tom Ridge, Rob Portman.

·         F&T’s Insight. The criteria seems tailor made for Bobby Jindal and that may end up being his pick, but when you step back and look at this from another angle, a better candidate emerges-Rush Limbaugh. Talk about energizing the base, Republicans would turn out in record numbers! He would destroy Sheen in the debate and McCain might just stay home and let Rush debate Obama instead, if Obama doesn’t want his talent back (insert joke here about Rush’s talent on loan from God.) Democrats couldn’t bring up Rush’s pill addiction because of Obama’s use of “blow” in his early years, Rush would be everything McCain could possibly want and then some.

Obama/Sheen vs. McCain/Limbaugh would be the greatest campaign of all time and I say “Let’s Get Ready to Rumble!”
