Hot on the heels of the arrival of my very first polaroid, I hit up a garage sale this weekend and found a polaroid spectra for $1, with 3 pictures still left in it! So, even though I don't much need a second polaroid, much less one that will probably be harder to find film for, it was only a dollar, so I took it home to keep the 600 One Step that I got a week ago company. Now I almost have a polaroid collection.

I can't even imagine how long the film has been sitting in it, I just know that it MUST be expired. This picture developed so strangely, and it's super muddy. But I'm totally fine with that. Love it, in fact. And it could be because I opened the film door, too. We'll see how the next one turns out.

It isn't much at this stage, but I hope to keep quietly adding to it day by day, and seeing it grow. It won't impact on this site at all, it just might encourage me to start taking some photos again (other than for Stu's Shed that is!)

Funny how things work out, Stu's Shed was originally just a test bed for me to try out some of the new web technology for that site, and instead it captured me completely, and the original ideas for the multimedia site I was going to build faded completely! Not that I mind, and this new (old) site is just going to be somewhere I can place some images etc. I might grow it in time into other areas (my other writings, photo podcasts etc), but there's no hurry.

The site is based around a rather unusual blog theme called Monotone, which automagically chooses the colour scheme based on the colours in the photo itself.

It was a completely casual and fun-filled day. I was overjoyed by the fact that they asked me to come out, plus we had the chance to partake in the festivities! What a joy!

Of course when I wasn't photographing the family, I spent the majority of my time following around the little ones. Here is one of a pretty, little girl who simply stole my heart. What a beauty!

And would you just look at her! She has the most beautiful brown eyes. So pretty!

Another one of pretty Lily. I loved her pigtails! :)

I couldn't forget this little guy - he was SO intense. Look at that thoughtful expression! He had that look all day!

And finally, one of the whole gang! I can't believe we got everyone all together and looking in the same direction - tough, but this proves it can be done!

A huge factor in my life for cutting back on photo clutter is my shiny new digital camera.  This was by far the best present I could have received.  The great thing about a digital camera is that you no longer have to develop ALL the photos on your roll of film.  However, clutter can build up on your camera.  To avoid camera clutter: delete photos that are not good pictures.  Yes you can use Photoshop to edit your photos but ask yourself whether or not you will have time to edit them.  If you do not have the time to edit then delete the photo and try again.  That is the beauty of the digital camera! 

Photo boxes are another method I have used to contain all of my photos that have already been processed.  I first go through the photo envelope and THROW OUT all of the bad photos.  I do not throw out the envelope the photos are in, but label the outside top of the envelope by event.  I then put the envelopes in chronological order in each box and label the outside of the box with a date range.  This allows me to easily find a photo when I need to.  I can glance at a photo box sorted by date, open it and find my photos arranged by event.  This has worked out quite well for me. 

Double prints are yet another form of photo clutter that can take up space.   I find that double prints are great for creating a photo collage that you can give away as a gift to someone.  You can pick up a nice frame with multiple windows at Wal-Mart for less than $10.00.  Just cut up your extra photos, arrange them and wrap!  An instant gift and a great way to declutter those extra photos that deserve to be viewed.

There are many, many other ways to utilize photos: scrapbook, the tried and true photo albums, kid projects and many more!   I found that www.michaels.com has several great ideas for using up photos.  Just click project ideas on the drop box at the top of the page and type in "photo".  I am thinking of trying out the photo cubes!

I was in Roanoke, VA recently and came across one of those wood fences like you see at ranches.  I thought it looked cool and decided to take a photo.  The first one I took was, as I said is often the impulse, from where I first decided to take a picture of the fence.  This is how it turned out:

It's a pretty 'Ehhh" photo like that.  The cars in the background take away from the overall composition and the post loses all context and is lost in the confusing image really.  So I moved 6 inches and changed the angle that I was shooting it from and came up with this image:

A far nicer image, the blurred background works well with the image and the focus is more directed at the interesting knotting of the post.  Changing the background from the pavement and cars to the rest of the fence and the green foliage simplifies it and allows the image to grow from the focus of the image (the post).

A matter of 6 inches and a few degrees change of angle and the image becomes completely different and (I dare say) much better.  So keep shooting and don't stop until you're sure you have the shot you want.

This time of year at Wildlife Aid is the busiest that I've every seen it. Last week there were 15 pigeons, 30 ducklings, a vole, three baby rabbits, 30 baby squirrels, a duck, two baby tawny owls, over 70 fledglings and a few hedgehogs. The fledgling need to be fed every half an hour so by the time you've fed them all it's time to start all over again!

I'm having driving and dancing lessons every week which are both going well. I'm getting much more confident at getting around on the road and the dancefloor. I am attemping to master all the driving maneuvers that I will be tested on and the dance moves, that I know as a woman, as a man.

I'm still going to the Cohbam Park Vet's every week and since study leave for my exams has now started I can spend whole days there. On Monday I got to watch a bitch spay and a cocker spaniel having its ear examined and x-rays on its skull while anaesthetised, as well as the consults that day. While both of the dogs were under anaesthetic I had to measure their breathing and heart rates and check that they didn't have a blink reflex every few minutes. I've also been in contact with another veterinary practice which I will hopefully also be working at soon.

My study leave has now started (as I said before) and my first exam was this afternoon, it was my Biology Practical Work Review. One down nine to go! The weather is nearly into the sort of heat that we only expect in the middle of summer. Fortunately it cools down in the evenings so we can enjoy the sun in the day but not have to have unbearable nights sleep. Most people are really enjoying the good weather but it makes it much harder to revise when you look outside and you see how nice it looks, so I was quite glad when the weatherman announced that it is going to rain on Thursday.

I just made myself wanting to go to bed...

Очень рад что друзья вытащили меня на салют. Всё-таки с ними круто, если не учитывать, что пока мы готовились выезжать мне пришлось посмотреть часть "Александра Македонского" и "Мы из будущего" с комментариями какого-то Вани. Хотя я так легко не сдавался и в квартире, откуда мы собирались стартовать, на балконе нашёл велотренажёр, где поставил личный рекорд - 63 км/ч, причём тренажёр начал очень сильно раскачиваться и был риск сбить с подоконника горшки с огурцами и помидорами. Я решил не продолжать. Итак поев пельменей (ну кто хотел - поел, я - нет, хотя ничего против них не имею) мы двинули.

Ехали, собственно, на Воробьёвы, это рядом и круто, на мосту над станцией. Менты обычно закрывают проход, но все желающие всё равно проходят.

В метро была бешенная схватка на лазерных мечах:
