Attention:

1- This DVD is designed for Intel architectures.
Minimum requirements: Intel SSE3 CPU, 512MB RAM, 12GB free space on target partition.

2- This DVD includes Apple\'s OS X Leopard 10.5.2 (9C7010) installation.

3- Make sure that the md5 checksum of your iATKOS iso image matches the one posted on our website. Otherwise you may have a faulty DVD image. Use quality media/burner and burn slowly.

Information:

- This release supports GPT (Guid Partition Table) partition map scheme. You can change your partition table type to GPT via Disk Utility or some other partition managers. We advice Parted Magic Live CD which is based on GParted.

- This release also includes Darwin EFI emulation boot for MBR (Master Boot Record) harddrives. Intel Core CPUs can use stock kernel and stock ACPIPlatform with EFI emulation on MBR and with GPT. This increases stability and performance.

- Intel CoreDuo Processors have appropriate SpeedStep Technology which is stable in OS X. If you have such processor, you can enable throttling feature using the \"SpeedStep\" package which you can find under system drivers section. Note that speedstep kernel is included in iATKOS main system, so don\'t select any of the kernels with speedstep support if you don\'t want to have kernel panic.

- There are some boot options for some various hardware. Boot DVD, press F8 and enter:
nforce -v
for nForce motherboards with intel SSE3 CPU
nforce_core -v
for nForce motherboards with Intel Core CPU
toh -v
for booting with ToH 9.2.0 kernel which works nice on many types of hardware

Installation:

1- Run Disk Utility via Utilities menu and erase the target partition for clean install. Do partitioning if you need to.

a- You can choose MBR (Master Boot Record) or GPT (Guid Partition Table) via partitioning options. If you want to change your existing partition table type, know that all your existing data on disk will be gone.
b- For Windows fellows that has not tested this amazing system yet and that does not want to loose their windows software, porn and virus&trojan archive on D:\\, should use Parted Magic Live CD for preparing an active primary target partition and after that, just erase it via diskutil. Jump to Step 2.

2- Select the destination for installation.

3- Click customize and select what you need.

4- Click Install.

Install time is about 20 minutes.

Multiboot:

iATKOS 2.0i has no integrated procedure for multibooting but preparing a multiboot GPT or MBR system with this release is easier than ever.

Here is a \'\'How To\'\' for GPT and MBR triple boot including Mac-Vista-Linux.

- MBR (Master Boot Record) triple boot -

- Change your partition table type to MBR (msdos type) and create 3 primary partitions by using Parted Magic Live CD or iATKOS Disk Utility. HFS+ format for OS X target, Fat32 for the others.
Note: %99.99999 of the PC harddrives already have MBR partition map scheme (msdos type) which you can change it to GPT via Parted Magic CD or iATKOS Disk Utility if you like to.

- Add boot flag to Vista or Linux target and install the OS\' in any order you like. For linux, do not install bootloader to MBR, install it to linux root.

- Boot iATKOS 2.0i DVD and install OS X to its target as usual.

- Now you need to repair Vista. Add boot flag to Vista partition, boot Vista DVD, select repair, add boot flag to OS X partition, thats all.

Now you have triple boot on MBR.

Note: Adding boot flag to MBR partitions: Boot Parted Magic Live CD, right click to partition, select flags and click to boot.

- GPT (Guid Partition Table) triple boot -

- Change your partition table type to GPT (Guid Partition Table) and create 3 partitions by using Parted Magic Live CD or iATKOS Disk Utility. HFS+ format for OS X target, Fat32 (msdos) for the others.

- Boot iATKOS 2.0i DVD, install only bootloader to OS X target. ***

- Boot Vista DVD and install it to first Fat32 partition.
(Note: System marks first Fat32 partition or booting Foreign OS\'. If you choose other than first Fat32 as target for Vista, then during installation, system will not continue install process at first Vista boot.)

- Boot Linux media and install the OS. Install the bootloader to linux root.
(Note: Some live linux cd stuff (knoppix, kanotix, parsix etc.) has built-in installer applications and they use gparted for partitioning and formatting targets. At this point, formatting target to linux fs via Gparted is not a good choice, use fdisk just for changing the target partition type from \'\'c0\'\' to \'\'83\'\' which is linux partition type and then continue installation.)

- Boot iATKOS 2.0i DVD and install OS X as usual.

Now you have triple boot on GPT, thats all.

As you see, preparing multiboot system on GPT is more practical and easier.
Darwin on GPT will see other OS\' as Foreign Boot.

*** For pro-users: You can re-install Darwin bootloader by booting the iATKOS DVD with -s. Boot with -s and enter darwin command, follow the instructions. For MBR HD, you can add boot flag via fdisk after darwin installation.

Known Issues:

1- Jmicron IDE controllers are known to have issues with OS X.

2- Some 965 chipset MSI and ASUS motherboards (desktop and laptop) have issues with this OS. ACPI errors while booting with DVD and also with hd. There will be patches for those uncompatible devices and there is also a patch for 1.0ir2.

3- This dvd may not include all the necessary drivers required by your setup. Additional steps may be needed to be taken by the user to setup and use such components.

4- Be sure that the labels of your hfs+ partitions are not similar. ie. Mac 1, MacOS or Leopard X, Leopard Y. Installer may fail to determine the target partition to install the system if the labels match.

Unsuccessful Installation and Related Symptoms:

1- I get the error \"com.apple.Boot.plist is not found\" while booting the DVD

--> You are probably trying to boot from an unsupported controller.
~ You should use usb dvd rom drive, or you may need sata-ide convertor for your dvd rom drive (jmicron).

2- System freezes at grey screen by booting the DVD.

--> You probably have an unsupported chipset.
*965 chipset ASUS or MSI motherboard/laptop
*many VIA, SIS, ATI chipset motherboards
~ Change your hardware
~ A patch can be possible for 965 ASUS/MSI hardware, so keep on watching this community.

While Mac OS, OS/2, Linux and many other desktop operating systems have all had their devotees over the years, the truth is that the majority of home and business users have simply used the current version of Windows as a matter of course.

Microsoft has joined forces with the developers of the "$100 laptop" to make Windows available on the machines. The move was prompted by countries which demanded the operating system before placing an order. Trials of laptops loaded with Windows will begin in "four to five" countries from June, the organisations said. The founder of One Laptop Per Child (OLPC), which developed the machines, denied the move was a "desperate new measure" to secure more orders. Until now, the XO machines, as they are known, have only been offered with an open-source Linux operating system.

Apple tactic

OLPC originally aimed to sell the low-cost laptops in lots of one million to governments in developing countries for $100 each. The innovative machines, which have been designed for use in remote and harsh environments, were to be distributed to school children. Over time, however, the project was forced to drop the minimum number of machines that could be ordered. Each machine currently costs $188 ($198 with Windows XP). So far, it has sold just 600,000, according to Professor Negroponte, although he said it expected a further 400,000 orders in the next "60 to 90 days". "There is no question that demand goes up when you offer dual boot," said Professor Negroponte. Machines will eventually be offered with the ability to run either Windows XP or Linux, although he admitted there were still some technical issues to overcome to achieve this. "I liken running Windows in dual boot on the laptop as exactly what Apple did on their machines," said Professor Negroponte. "A lot of people moved to the Apple laptop once it had that dual boot."

Customer service

It has taken Microsoft nearly one year to make its software compatible with the XO machine. It will cost an additional $3, plus $7 for hardware, and will be offered on a 2GB memory card that can be plugged into the machine.According to the Microsoft, it supports many of the XO's unique features including its custom keys, writing pad and power-saving mode. Crucially, however, it does not currently support the mesh networking that allows the computers to talk to one another and share data. In addition, the user interface designed for the XO - called Sugar - does not yet run on XP, although Professor Negroponte said that OLPC would work with "third parties" to find a solution to this. The options afforded by Windows will be welcomed by the governments of countries, such as Egypt, which has insisted on being offered the operating system before signing up to the scheme. Other customers and partners have already applauded the shift.

• NetworkManager 0.7 provides improved mobile broadband support, including GSM and CDMA devices, and now supports multiple devices and ad-hoc networking for sharing connections. It is now enabled by default on installations from DVD, CD, the network, and Live images.
• The Fedora installer, Anaconda, now supports partition resizing for ext2/3, NTFS filesystems, creating and installing to encrypted file systems, improved Rescue Mode with FirstAidKit, independent locations for the second stage installer and the software packages. A redesigned, larger netboot.iso image now features a second stage installer partly for this reason.
• Live USB images now support persistence, so your data and setting changes will be preserved even after rebooting.

• PackageKit, a new set of graphical and console tools, with a framework for cross-distribution software management, has replaced Pirut in this release of Fedora. The PackageKit graphical updater is available instead of Pup. Behind PackageKit, the performance of yum has been significantly improved.
• FreeIPA makes managing auditing, identity and policy processes easier by providing web-based and command line provisioning, and administration tools to ease system administration. FreeIPA combines the power of the Fedora Directory Server with FreeRADIUS, MIT Kerberos, NTP and DNS to provide an easy, out of the box solution.
• Ext4, the next version of the mature and stable ext3 filesystem is available as a option in this release. Ext4 features better performance, higher storage capacity and several other new features.

EXPLANATION:
What this is meant to be is an offline website, accessible at all times by your PSP. If you do have
an internet connection, there is an assortment of links to help you through the internet without

INSTALLATION:
Unzip the zip file to the ROOT of your PSP's memory stick (the topmost folder, it has no name, it houses everything on the stick).

Follow these instructions to go about changing your desktop:

Estuve probando muchos distros pero como mi maquina es de fabricacion mexicana me dio muchos problemas con drivers de los perifericos; probe con diferentes distribuciones :

* Fedora 9 y 8
* Debian
* BackTrack 2
* Ubuntu

De todos estos los unicos que me dieron problemas fueron los distros Fedora y Debian por lo cual termine instalando OpenSuse 11 y la verdad es que me ha gustado bastante pero tengo que actualizarlo en muchas cosas ya que ni siquiera tiene GCC y es algo que utilizo muy amenudo. Things really get heated when someone makes the claim that *nix (read Linux and Mac OS) based operating systems never get viruses or vulnerabilities.

This just isn't true, as the steady trickle of updates to my Ubuntu installation proves. I'm not passing judgement on the severity of the possibility of the computer being hacked, but the vulnerabilities do exist and need to be countered.

Finally a worthy competitor for the monopolistic operating system market seems to be emerging. Most consumers only know of Microsoft Windows and many happen to think that this is the sole program which desktop computers run to interface the user with the hardware and manage resources. However now with the introduction of the sub £300 computers it is becoming increasingly difficult for companies to drive down price, when Windows Vista costs around £58 for the most basic version. This is almost 30% of the total cost of the final machine, hence the growth of Linux.

Many will be surprised to hear that Linux has been around since 1991 when it was first developed by a Finnish software engineer, Linus Torvalds. It is an open source program which means it is free to use and install, also advanced users can adapt the source code so the program is better matched to their needs. There are additionally many different ‘flavours’ of Linux that have been developed by different users over time which have been distributed to allow others to use these customised versions. However, some of these do charge a fee, these are generally the versions developed by companies such as Red Hat and provide high levels of customer support.

The main reason that Linux doesn’t dominate the market with sales currently at around 1.7% of the total market, is due to its previously poor support for many hardware drivers (software that allows the use of certain physical components such as printers or monitors). This is a fairly circular problem as many companies will only develop drivers when a large number of people require them. Linux not having a large enough user base could not previously attract this. This has changed though and companies have now realised that to improve sales they will have to include drivers for Linux.

The other benefits to using Linux over Windows Vista include improved stability and performance even when using lots of applications and data. It also works well on systems with low hardware specifications making it ideal for getting the maximum performance from cheap machines. There are also fewer viruses distributed through Linux systems making them more secure and prompting use by many companies for secure networks such as bank ATMs. A variant is also in use in the Playstation 2 and 3 consoles.

Currently only Apple’s Mac OS is seen as the major rival to the Windows brand, however, Mac OS has a paltry 2.5% market share which is barely more than Linux. With $204 million of venture capital being invested in open source in the first quarter of 2008, more than double for the same period in 2007 it can easily be seen that Linux and open source software are a rapidly growing market. They are however, hampered slightly by the fact that the code is spread so widely between variants and there is not one version containing every open source development. If you feel like testing it out I would recommend the Ubuntu version as it has plenty of help files and guides and is one of the quickest to install and setup.
