Sometimes, just sometimes, it is so frustrating being left-handed in a right-handed world.

</div>
<p class="MsoNormal">Sometimes, just sometimes, it is so frustrating being left-handed in a right-handed world.<br />
Given that we make up one in ten of the population you would think that we would be accommodated a little better wouldn't you?</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Today I proceeded to open a can of tomatoes. The task took a frustrating 5 minutes to open. How can something as innovative and simple as a <em>‘can opener’</em> be so complicated to employ? The hindrance behind using this, forced me to actually open the can in reverse. But in the end I won out. And felt like I had overcome a challenge. For opening a can.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">
<p class="MsoNormal">Anyway, as a gadget, the ‘right-handed’ can opener is a reasonable concept <em>…with many flaws.</em></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">But it did draw my attention to the fact everywhere we go, left-handed people come across tools that were designed for the right handed.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Innovation with products alike this should have been considered from the start. The very start – none of this right-handed and then left handed tooling. (Yes I am aware of left handed can openers)</p>
<p>If a product works, consumers are hooked and will remain loyal to the brand over the course of their lifetime… or well, until something better comes along. And no one wants to change who they are to be able to actually utilise a product, this includes using right handed tools.</p>
<p>And to the companies out there looking to improve everyday products and provide a broader range of consumers with a little more than what we have – I suggest a trend in customer-innovation. Get your customers to help co-create products.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Working with each other, to develop new products, services, processes or marketing. This trend is being witnessed more and more, and not just in the FMCG industry where this kind of innovation has been common for some time now.</p>
<p>Which brings me closer to the idea of ‘open innovation’ (Yes, you know it, open beats closed…every time, every situation ...right?)</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The central idea here is all about obtaining widely distributed knowledge, sourcing processes or inventions and applying them to your brand or product to provide us with the best possible solution. Every time please.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">
<p class="MsoNormal">Today, information and innovation can be transferred so easily that it seems impossible to prevent. So therefore innovation would state that companies cannot stop the phenomenon of improvement, they must learn to take advantage of it.</p>

<title><![CDATA[Action Steps to Purity]]></title>

<description><![CDATA[
I listed some action steps to breaking free from the bonds of sexual addiction in my previous post ]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://outofsin.files.wordpress.com/2008/07/lake_clouds_water1.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-85" src="http://outofsin.wordpress.com/files/2008/07/lake_clouds_water1.jpg?w=300" alt="" width="300" height="199" /></a></p>
<p>I listed some action steps to breaking free from the bonds of sexual addiction in my previous post of “<a href="http://outofsin.wordpress.com/2008/07/07/mastered-by-porn-and-sex-%e2%80%93-steps-to-break-free/">Mastered by porn and sex – steps to break free</a>”. I feel that it is important to elaborate on each of these in more detail.</p>
<ul>
<li>You need to admit to acknowledge and admit to the problem, realizing that it is only through Christ that you will break free of this. There is an overwhelming urge to pray to God for release from this struggle and for Him to take the desire away from you. That will not happen. God created us with desire and He is not going to take that from us. Desire is not the problem anyway; it is what you have done with the desire. Desire has been twisted and mixed with immoral acts gradually over years of practice. You have spent years getting to the point you are now at. It does not just vanish instantly. Truthfully you have a long hard battle before you, one that you may not be able to accomplish; certainly one that you will not accomplish on your own without turning to God. Until you are ready to yield to God’s authority you will not have success.</li>
<li>Probably the hardest step is to confess your sin to others. It is very important to confess your secret to someone in authority at your church. If you are in a church where you feel unsafe confessing your sin, then you need to find one that is safe, and you need to do it quickly. Some churches openly acknowledge the issue while others are completely adverse to the problem. If you confess your issue to the leaders and do not feel there is support then you need to find another church. Confessing your sin to your spouse is going to be difficult and it will be disastrous. If you hide it away and do not confess, sooner or later it will be found, and the results will be so much worse. If you are actively seeking help when you reveal your addiction, then this will help ease the blow, but be prepared for the worst.</li>
<li>Find a purity group and accountability partner. This is much easier in a church that openly acknowledges the struggle, since they are more likely to have support groups. Church groups are going to be based on Christian principles and will attack the problem from a biblical perspective giving you the foundation needed to reach victory. Accountability groups and partners will help hold you to a high standard of honesty and conduct. You have been living in secret it is now time to be honest and open. It is time to form some strong relationships with individuals who care and know the struggle.</li>
<li>Reading books on sexual addiction and purity could be the most beneficial yet overlooked aspect. I am always reading at least one book and sometimes two on the subject. I also supplement this by listening to a large number of podcasts on the subject. The material will give you a much better understanding of the root causes, triggers, strategies, and steps regarding success. The free time you now have from not acting out needs to be spent productively and this is one activity.</li>
<li>Journaling compliments reading. Through journaling you are able to articulate your thoughts, feelings, emotions and victories. This is not the time to jot down a list of details about your day, but the chance to dig into your emotions, how you felt, what your feelings were ate various times throughout the day. It is time to look critically at your day and describe the temptations, trials, and moments of victory. What you are reading is in fact a result of my journaling. This blog is an extension of my original journaling on my struggle. Take the time; you should have plenty, to write about your emotions for the day.</li>
<li>Do not disregard professional counseling. I feel it is very important to seek out a Christian counselor who specializes in this type struggle and addiction. As this struggle becomes more public we are seeing more counselors who focus on the topic. A counselor with a Christian background will be able to guide and help you not only with the struggle, but also with the <a href="http://outofsin.wordpress.com/2008/06/23/root-causes-of-sexual-addiction/">root causes</a> that lead to the addiction.</li>
</ul>
<p>The steps above can provide a very strong foundation and start to obtain sexual purity in your life. Feel free to comment on these steps and any others that you feel are important.</p>

<title><![CDATA[How to Delegate Your (Open)Identity Authentication to Wordpress]]></title>

<description><![CDATA[Everyone using WordPress has an OpenID, e.g. mine is http://taroza.wordpress.com/. Yahoo and Google ]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Everyone using Wordpress has an <a href="http://openid.net/" target="_blank">OpenID</a>, e.g. mine is <strong>http://taroza.wordpress.com/</strong>. Yahoo and Google users also have an OpendID. Many other sites give it to you for free as well.</p>
<p>However, I don't like these imposed ids of mine. Fortunately I own a domain name <a href="http://evaldas-taroza.lt" target="_blank">evaldas-taroza.lt</a> which is quite a friendly way to identify myself on the Web.</p>
<p>Here is how I set up my identity (according to the <a href="http://wiki.openid.net//Delegation" target="_blank">article on delegation</a>):</p>
<ol>
<li>Since I link <a href="http://evaldas-taroza.lt" target="_blank">http://evaldas-taroza.lt</a> to this blog, I configured a subdomain <a href="http://id.evaldas-taroza.lt" target="_blank">id.evaldas-taroza.lt</a> to stand for my OpenID</li>
<li>Then I configured my new subdomain to point to a simple Web page (<a href="http://id.evaldas-taroza.lt" target="_blank">http://id.evaldas-taroza.lt</a>):<br />
<code>&#60;html&#62;<br />
&#60;head&#62;<br />
&#60;link rel="openid.server" href="<em><strong>http://taroza.wordpress.com/?openidserver=1</strong></em>" /&#62;<br />
&#60;link rel="openid.delegate" href="<span style="text-decoration:underline;">http://taroza.wordpress.com/</span>" /&#62;</code><br />
<code>&#60;link rel="openid2.provider" href="<em><strong>http://taroza.wordpress.com/?openidserver=1</strong></em>" /&#62;<br />
&#60;link rel="openid2.local_id" href="<span style="text-decoration:underline;">http://taroza.wordpress.com/</span>" /&#62;<br />
&#60;/head&#62;<br />
&#60;body&#62;<br />
&#60;/body&#62;<br />
&#60;/html&#62;</code></li>
</ol>
<p>The tricky part was to figure out what is the OpenID server at Wordpress (that's in bold).</p>
<p>Now I can login to every OpenID consumer with <strong>id.evaldas-taroza.lt</strong> which is the id I own. When I get bored using Worpress as an OpenID provider I can switch to Google, Yahoo, etc. and still keep it as id.evaldas-taroza.lt!</p>
<p><strong>UPDATE:</strong> Looks that Wordpress openid support with delegation does not always work. So I switched to <a href="https://www.myopenid.com/" target="_blank">myopenid.com</a> (I like that green color that they have). For an example how to configure delegation specifically for myopenid.com you can look, for instance, <a href="http://netevil.org/blog/2007/06/howto-set-yourself-up-with-an-openid" target="_blank">here</a>.</p>

<description><![CDATA[Google has open-sourced its protocol buffers, the company&#8217;s lingua franca for encoding various]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Google has open-sourced its protocol buffers, the company's lingua franca for encoding various types of data, in order to set the stage for a wave of new releases, according to official company blog posts and documents.</strong><!--more--></p>
<p>"Practically everyone inside Google" uses protocol buffers, states a FAQ page. "We have many other projects we would like to release as open source that use protocol buffers, so to do this, we needed to release protocol buffers first."</p>
<p>Google uses "thousands of different data formats to represent networked messages between servers, index records in repositories, geospatial datasets, and more," wrote Kenton Varda, a member of Google's software engineering team, in a blog post. "Most of these formats are structured, not flat. This raises an important question: How do we encode it all?"</p>
<p>The ubiquitous XML (extensible markup language) is not efficient enough for Google's data-sharing needs, according to Varda: "When all of your machines and network links are running at capacity, XML is an extremely expensive proposition."</p>
<p>With protocol buffers, "you define how you want your data to be structured once, then you can use special generated source code to easily write and read your structured data to and from a variety of data streams and using a variety of languages," according to a documentation page. "You can even update your data structure without breaking deployed programs that are compiled against the 'old' format."</p>
<p>Protocol buffers are three to 10 times smaller and 20 to 100 times faster than XML, according to Google. </p>
<p>But XML has some advantages for certain tasks, according to the documentation: "Protocol buffers would not be a good way to model a text-based document with markup (e.g. HTML), since you cannot easily interleave structure with text. In addition, XML is human-readable and human-editable; protocol buffers, at least in their native format, are not."</p>
<p>Google has prepared a <a href="http://code.google.com/p/protobuf/downloads/list">download page</a> that contains protocol buffer compilers for Java, C++ and Python</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I adore bus journeys, particularly long quiet comfortable ones. Sometimes, the idea of being able to spend some time alone in the bus really entices me such much that i rather take the bus 36 from town down the the airport before changing to 858 to go home. Well, maybe thats because both bus services service a route which is rather awesome. (Of course i preferred just taking the cab home)</p>
<p>I guess spending time alone breaking away from the world is something good to indulge in every here and then. Maybe its for a fact that i particularly need it. Its just like when you're on the bus, there's no one to disturb you, and you'll just be looking out of the window watching the world pass by. At other times, i will run my days through silently to ponder about the events that happen.</p>
<p>I do realise about how the thoughts will revolve around the same few issues. Well, being emotional ain't solving anything, but then again, i feel really helpless. Its a whole load of emotions filling me up. And maybe all these emotions makes me feel ever so glad to have my friends around me.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#ffffff;"><strong>Wimbledon has a new king. Rafael Nadal dethroned Roger Federer after a five-year reign by winning the longest-ever Wimbledon men's final.</strong></span></p>
<p>The consistently heartstopping 6-4, 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 6-7 (8-10), 9-7 classic began at 2.35pm and thanks to a couple of breaks for rain (surely necessary for the spectators to catch their breath), it ended at 9.15pm with the 22-year-old from Mallorca dropping to the ground with his arms outstretched in celebration.</p>
<p>Watching the four hours and 48 minutes on-court action, from the vantage point of the royal box, was Centre Court legend Bjorn Borg. Nadal had matched the Swede's fantastic feat of winning the Grand Slams of Roland Garros and Wimbledon back-to-back and had also prevented Federer surpassing the five titles in a row he collected between 1976 and 1980.</p>
<p>Conditions for the latest duel between tennis's two finest players could not have been more demanding. The rain, which delayed the start for 27 minutes, eventually cleared but the chill, gusting wind which accompanied it persisted throughout the match, blowing winning shots off course and making life even more difficult for the two competitors. That they coped so well spoke volumes for their skill and adaptability.</p>
<p>With the five-time champion looking less than his authoritative best, it was Nadal who struck the first heavy blow, capitalising on successive Federer errors to break for a 2-1 lead.</p>
<p>From the start Nadal concentrated his battering-ram attack on the Federer backhand, aiming every serve and looping forehand in that direction and it kept the champion in an unaccustomed position - on the back foot. Federer prospered more when he switched to net-rushing but he could not block Nadal's inexorable advance towards the first set.</p>
<p>The Spaniard managed to fight off a break point to stay 3-1 ahead and he needed to avert two more as he served for the set, which he clinched on his third set point after 48 minutes, courtesy of another brace of ground stroke errors from Federer.</p>
<p>It was the first set Federer had dropped since the final of the French Open, when he was routed by the same Nadal.</p>
<p>Federer's counter-attack was immediate and it rushed him into a three-game lead which he extended to an apparently commanding 4-1 with his sixth and seventh aces, only for the irrepressible Nadal to bounce back with some thrilling, all-action stuff.</p>
<p>To Federer's visible anger, his serve was broken as a stretched volley flew out of play and Nadal pulled level at 4-4 as Federer squandered yet another break point.</p>
<p>Now Nadal was in full, thrilling flow, breaking Federer again to lead 5-4 with another huge forehand and celebrating with pumped fists. As he was serving for the second set, Nadal received a warning from umpire Pascal Maria of France for taking too long between serves.</p>
<p>Clearly unsettled by the timing of that censure, the Spaniard permitted Federer another break point on a wind-caused error, but in typical fashion dug deep and clinched the set when Federer once more mistimed a backhand into the netting. So, having swept five games, Nadal was in the driving set, two sets ahead.</p>
<p>Nadal's authority suffered a scare in the third game of the third set when he slipped in making a sudden change of direction and called in the trainer to check on his right knee. No time-out was requested by Nadal, though his speed around court appeared to be affected for a while.<br />
He was at full stretch in the next game, fighting off two Federer break points and, as dark clouds began to mass over Centre Court, the champion went flat out to recover a set and get back into the match. But four more break points went begging as Nadal held for 3-3 before wasting three break points of his own which would have put him 4-3 ahead and perfectly positioned to win.</p>
<p>Instead, with Federer leading 5-4, the expected downpour set in and play was held up for one hour 20 minutes. On the resumption it was Federer who dominated when a tie-break was needed to resolve the set, hammering four aces to take it by seven points to five.</p>
<p>The fourth set did not contain a single break point for either man and when the second tie-break of the match arrived it was a sensation, with Nadal first leading by five points to two and then reaching, and missing, two Championship points before Federer levelled at two sets all when a Nadal backhand error left him the winner by 10 points to eight.</p>
<p>Another downpour drove the players off court for half an hour with the score at 2-2 in the final set and when they returned the light was fading. But the spirit of both finalists burned bright as they hammered the ball at each other just as eagerly as they had done when this marathon first began.</p>
<p>At 3-4 Nadal saved a break point which would have left Federer serving for the title. At 6-6 Federer saved a couple of break points. Finally, in the gloom, the Spaniard broke to lead 8-7 when Federer struck a forehand too long.</p>
<p>So Nadal served for the match again, getting to his third Championship point only for Federer to hit an incredible backhand service return. Deuce once again, but Nadal moved to his fourth match point with a big serve and, with the crowd going wild, Federer finally cracked, dumping a forehand in the net.<br />
It was late, very late, but not too late for the coronation of a new king to begin.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class="entry">
<p>While I have nothing against having unsecured, open, wireless lying around, there are some unwritten rules guiding this sort of thing. If you’re going to have open wireless, why on earth would you make it long range? Or for that matter, why would you have it in an office where every machine is a desktop? Or why would you put high speed internet on it?</p>
<p>That appears to have actually happened, however. I’m sitting in an office park - or I was sitting - and an open wireless network pops up. Naturally, I connected to it and had a poke around. There seemed to be roughly eight other machines on the network, plus myself and the gateway. Some may have been printers. Being the kind spirited and helpful person that I am I proceeded to have a look for any vulnerabilities that I could exploit - because spreading violence and confusion is my way of saying “I love you”.</p>
<p>It is at this point that NMap becomes very useful.</p>
<p>For the first time in living memory, I failed to gleam anything of worth from NMap. If you don’t have NMap, then you should get it. Even if it’s just so that you look smart, you should have it. Since I couldn’t find anything to exploit =( I tried to connect to the gateway. This required a username and password, but the super-intelligent designers of said gateway evidentially where on speed for most of the design process, as their username/password prompt included the model number of the gateway. This can be used to get the default username and password for most routers. Unfortunately, the username and password were not the default combination, so my evil plans were ruined. When I return I shall bring my backtrack CD and vent wrath upon them with hydra. No jokes.</p></div>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Long time back, Google announced its open mobile platform - The Android. Today, one may get its SDK off their website. Symbian, feeling a threat to their already well established market did the unthinkable. They too made their platform open source. So, in the battle of the 2 open source platforms, which would finally emerge as the winner?</p>
<div class="mceTemp">

<p>While Symbian focuses on ease of use and rich features, Android focuses on complete touch functionality with several applications. Till now, Android only has test versions out, which are a little buggy. An official stable release is expected later this year. So who will be the king of the mobile platform?</p>
<p>Personally, I feel that a mobile platform cannot be judged on the basis of emulator performance and sadly that is what I had to work on. I have used Symbian OS since the launch of the 3650. Needless to say it was quite an improvement when compared to my old 3310. The old Symbian OS had several problems, like slow software, somewhat erratic operation. The new one however, is pretty good. It boasts of better performance and stable software.</p>
<p>The Android, which is still in development stages, has some problems at the moment. I couldn't even figure out how to turn off Google Maps :D.</p>
<p>Just when Android was looking to be the leader of the mobile platform, Symbian went open source. This will be a major bump to Android, since Symbian already has a decent market share.</p>
<p>In my humble opinion, it will be very hard for Android to capture the market initially, since the hardware that it uses is somewhat similar to the Windows Mobile Platform, and it does not come cheap! Symbian may continue with their current hardware (eg. ARM in case of Nokia).</p>
<p>Symbian has its own structure, but Android uses the rock solid Linux Kernel 2.6.x. This will definitely invite geeks and technology enthusiasts like us to choose Android over Symbian.</p>
<p>It will be an interesting battle to say the least. Let's all look forward to it.. :D</p>
