As one of the editors in the journalism class, I get to be one of the first testers. About time we had some kind of email access at school. It's actually a pretty good system too.

First Impression: Seems like many other brown ales and porters. Looking forward to the hit of the 8.5%. Respectable head, good deep ruby color. Aroma is faint and quiet, plums perhaps. Visuals are a deep ruby with a relatively persistent head. Taste is in a word, plain. Not watery - good hops, nice dark finish, but kind of flat in terms of layered flavor. Palate is crisp, carbonated, roasted, with a medium finish. Second Impression: Not bad at all, but victory has a lot better choices on offer. I'd take it over many other brands, because it has a nice depth, color, and hoppy finish, but only because of Victory's lineup. Having just had Mikkeller's Beer Geek Breakfast for the first time the other night didn't help this brew's standing with me, either. See Hop Wallop or V12 for what Victory does great things with.

First Impression: An average IPA alike. Chemical flavors hurt the taste. Aroma is a spicy citrus. Visuals are a beautiful amber body below a bright white head with persistent lacing. Taste is hoppy, chemical, and a bit soapy. Palate is crisp, drying, and acetic with a long bitter finish.
First Impression: A very impressive presence - a nice aroma, good head and rich flavor. Aroma is bitter, coffee, and roasty. Visuals are an inky black body topped with a tan head that is persistent and lacy. Taste is thick with espresso notes, licorice, and pepper. Palate is perhaps its downfall - a bit weak, with a medium finish. Second Impression - not anything close to a Yeti or a Shakespeare, but not a bad stout - far surpasses a Guinness. But for $4.50 a 12 oz bottle, I'd much rather have the Yeti.

Bottle at WInberie's in Princeton. A very nice beer for such wide distribution. The aroma was very muted because of over chilling, but did not seem bad or off. The appearance was a darker body with a very active head. The flavor was fine - a bit deeper than your average American pils. The palate seemed nice - it hangs on for a minute. Over all, not a bad beer, and a good alternative to many macros.

So after a very long delay due to school work and trying to get people to get involved in a group outing but failing, I saw Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

I don't want to say too much spoiler-like but I'm sure most people have read the other reviews and saw the movie by now so I'll thinly reference things. Mostly I just want to say that I think all the reviews I read were a bit too harsh and have lost a clear view of things. But yeah don't read ahead if you aren't into spoilers.

First off the realism aspect of the film. Lots of people knocked the film for coming off as unbelievable and impossible. Well first off I don't think the "Indiana Jones" movies have ever been steeped in realism. I mean you've had him survive just about everything known to man, it had freaking religions artifacts killing people, turning men into dust after drinking from false grails and people lighting/not lighting ablaze when they are about 1 foot away from hot liquid magma. So in regards to Indy surviving a nuke by hiding in a lead fridge, I'm just fine with that. I mean if anything did they notice the movie had aliens in it.

Second of course is the aliens, people blew a gasket over the inclusion of aliens into the mix. George Lucas' name was written on many a death list already for the prequels and it seems that his idea of having aliens involved here has threw some gasoline on there. I don't see the problem to be honest, it made sense with the story and with the time period. Also going along with the unbelievability, both of these aspects go hand and hand with the idea that "Indiana Jones" is basically supposed to be a big budget version of a B-movie. Thats how it all was envisioned from the get go and I didn't hear anybody complain when the Ark of the Covenant killed all those Nazis. This just goes to show that God=fine but Aliens = bullshit.

Third is Shia "Mutt" LaBeouf. I actually wasn't that annoyed by him in this movie, although I think any ideas involving him and starring in a spin off series is a bad idea (stop George Lucas...just stop.) But yeah I thought he was fine in the movie, sure the swinging with monkeys thing was dull. He made up for it with that awesome scene in the diner with Joe College and the other greasers (those guys delivered the most hardcore ass beating I've seen on film here in a while, those chairs were flying.) Oh and people complained about the obligatory references to the previous movies a lot too. I thought they were handled fine. Like the scene with the Ark...from the reviews you would have thought that you saw the full thing and that it was referenced and talked about. I think the little glimpse you get worked fine and it was a nice throwback for a movie that based it's whole ad campaign on nostalgia.

So yeah pretty much it's like it always is, you can't fully trust another persons review because everyone has different preferences. I do agree that is certainly the worst one of the series and it had a different feel to it. However, I don't think it's so horribly bad that it makes you cringe in disgust. I think people honestly went into the movie looking for something amazing and if it was anything less they were filled with enough venom to hate the film like it killed their favorite pet. I think it's a fun summer movie and it's full in the vein of the B-movies that inspired it. It even had moments that reminded me of the older movies ( the parts with Karen Allen and Harrison Ford were especially good.) I'd give it 3 1/2 out of 5 and say go see it to have a good time. Don't go looking for the god of all movies because no one involved with the movie set out to make that...leave your stupidity at home.

Palexpo - też robi wspaniałe wrażenie i niezapomniane. /Victor Hugo/. Łeee tam pierdoły...

O Genewie - było. Marzeniach - też, zatem teraz o autkach. Kiedyś robiłem sobie listę, a teraz ją znalazłem.
