Ovviamente la tonalita' e' un po' piu' bassa, vuoi perche' il buon George non e' piu' un ragazzino, vuoi perche' la canzone e' tostissima da cantare (provateci e poi mi dite... qui il testo) e vuoi anche perche' dal vivo le canzoni "si abbassano sempre".

Comunque il video e' bellissimo, ma c'e' un particolare che mi ha colpito molto: al minuto 3:57, guardate l'espressione del chitarrista (il mitico Brian May, fondatore della band), dopo che tutto il pubblico canta "Love" all'unisono. La dice lunga sulla soddisfazione che un'artista prova nel sentire i propri fan rispondere cosi'... anche dopo 30 anni di musica e palchi sulle spalle, l'emozione non manca mai.

"I kissed a girl and I liked it..." it quotes from the popular song, but adds, "...then I went to Hell." (See inset).

The Dispatch quotes the pastor of the 100-member church, "It's not something that is really a shock if you're a scriptural person," said the Rev. Dave Allison.

"We meant that as a loving warning to teens. … The Scriptures tell us that you should not do what the song tells you to do. The Scriptures are not ambiguous on this issue."

Allison adds, "If anyone's seen the video and understands how lewd and suggestive the video is for this song, that is not something young people should go toward."

On the other side of the fence, Lynne Bowman of Equality Ohio was quoted as saying, "Equality Ohio has identified at least 300 churches in Ohio that welcome gay people looking for a church home. "That sign just tells them where they cannot go to find the love and faith in Christ."

The sign was displayed for about 24 hours until it was changed to read, "Through faith in Christ God loves us and Forgives our Sins". The Pastor said it was not due to outrage. He said he received volumes of support from throughout the state.

Instead, he said, "It was confusing to many people who called in or e-mailed because they didn't know to what he was referring. They were unaware of the song."

These kind of post always bring out the nut jobs. I look forward to comments from any reasonable preson who would debate this issue.

I posted my new song onto Songness called Watch Me Daddy a couple of weeks ago, so far not a single listen. On the Homepage it says that each song will be rated by up to 200 registered fans. You get an audience report for free and loads more. 

The concept sounds really good, (the concept doesn't sound at all, but I guess this shows that even subconsciously I'm an auditory person) but I suspect that it is still at the prototype stage, so hopefully things will happen. There are still sections of the site that have word fillers, you know the latin words that developers use to show where the words are going to go. 

One of the key things if you want to post music on these kinds of site, is to listen and comment to others. Generally, just like MySpace, the more you contribute, the more you get back. The challenge is where to spend your energy. An example on MySpace is Em-J Taylor, who writes on her page that she spent 2 years promoting herself on the web. With over half a million plays, you would have to think she has been reasonably successful.

I have music on lots of sites and will share some information about them in future blogs. You never know where an opportunity will come from and each site tends to have it's loyal followers.

One thing that I did recently was to create a spreadsheet so that I can see all the sites that I have music on, what songs or videos I have on each site and when I last visited. That way I can monitor what I'm doing and also check out the number of listens so that I can see the effectiveness of the work.

One thing I am big on is sincerity. There are companies who will send out 'friend requests' representing that they are you and helping you build a huge 'fan base'. I am against this and like Em-J, I do my own friend requests and when someone invites me to be their 'friend' I will listen to their tracks and leave a comment. I would rather have 500 fans who would come to my gigs than a million who really don't know who I am and don't care. They are just numbers. 

Listens do count, if they are real. It's possible to create false listens, but again, what's the point, are you trying to look good under false pretences or are you trying to build a fan base so you can go on tour and have people come who already know who you are and like your music. 

Just a comment here, these are my opinions and you may believe otherwise. That's great and you are welcome to argue your case here by leaving your own comments. There is no absolute right in this industry.

I've had a few people send me 'friend requests' at MySpace after reading my blog and I welcome that. Please do come and listen to me on MySpace, or maybe even give Songness a try. You can find me there, only one song at this stage, because I didn't want to put any more effort in at this stage untilI see if it is justified.

I love that dog.

Just got back from the Speed Datin' Single's Party. Interesting.. met plenty of new people and got a glimpse of how it's like in the dating scene. The restaurant/cafe was great. MixFM did a great job organizing the event. The people I've met were so nice. For some reason, after attending this event, I find that I either want to start dating around and see how it goes from there; or perhaps I should just follow my feelings and just go on with a girl that I seem to be interested in now. The simplest way I could compromise; give time and perhaps everything will work out soon. If it doesn't and it's too late, maybe it's meant to be too. Regardless how or when; I'm sure in time I'd have my own "Official Girl".

FOX has been running ad's all week hyping their new show Fringe. One ad in particular uses the song "Walking on Air" by Kerli. We have to say, this song fits in so well with the show.
