Finally, Motorola also realized the power of open source. Moto MAGX is next generation of platform based on Linux. "Moto MAGX will be part of it 61% of handset in next few years" says Christy Wyatt, Vice President, Software Platforms & Ecosystem, Motorola. All this showdown is to make Motorola a primary choice of application developers and get Motorola in center of the mobile space battle.

May 14th 2008, Motodev Summit, held in Bangalore, was by far a great conference attendance in Bangalore. Sheer glitzy stage, music and Hollywood like launch was certainly inspiration of Apple showcase events.

I personally felt that how gaumot of business model shake down and technical adoption would really help Motorola being a viable option for enterprenueres in Mobile space. There ecouraging support for Java was a sweet in this bustling era of Mobile OS vendors.

During the panel discussions, two major challnges were discussed namely fragmentation and discovery. Fragmentation of choice of platforms and discovery of new and useful applications. Motorola seems to give answer by declaring support for Open OS like Linux and providing the Moto Catalog of applications. Welcoming the Linux on Motorola would be a greeted step by Mototola. This provode enough reasonig to call upon open world and play in their backyard.

Do *NOT* switch to Verizon Wireless unless they're finally ready to let you bring in your own phone. The ones they offer are still crippled versions of whatever you probably saw advertised on TV. Especially the Motorola Razr. It had great potential to be my favorite phone. Now, it's just my latest disappointment. There were tools to fix Verizon's purposeful crippling out there, but Motorola was apparently scared to let mere mortals mess with these and have reserved them for the ham-fisted repair techs alone. Looks like I'll be in the market for an OpenMoko again soon, damn the costs of converting too. I'm tired of getting crippled phones from Verizon.

I hardly use my Nokia E61i for taking pictures as I have a separate digicam for photography, but for

I hardly use my Nokia E61i for taking pictures as I have a separate digicam for photography, but for others who love taking pictures and videos with their phones ShoZu is a fantastic free application to use!

I tried ShoZu out earlier with my Flickr Account and it makes uploading pictures from the phone to the web a breeze. I could also read and reply to comments which was fun! The initial settings take some time, but after that everything is just as simple as a click. :)

One feature which I really liked, but could not try as I don't have a GPS device, was the GPS Tagging. If you have Built-In GPS in your phone or if you have a GPS device connected to your phone, then enabling GPS Tagging in ShoZu will allow it to stamp all your pictures and videos with your Geographical Location Coordinates as you take them (where satallite signals are available). Now that is a really useful feature. No need to remember where the picture was taken as ShoZu does it all for you.

Everytime I took a pic or video, or even if I transferred a video to my phone from the computer, ShoZu gave a prompt asking if I wanted to transfer it to my Youtube or Flickr account. It got a little annoying as I don't always upload my stuff, so I fixed this by going to ShoZu> Options> Go to> Settings> Sending> Sending New Photos and changed the 'Ask Before Sending' option to 'Don't Send'.

For people who are constantly sharing their photos with friends & family through the web, the 'Auto Send' feature is a brilliant thing, as then they won't have to open up the application everytime they want to upload a pic. When ShoZu says it makes uploading as easy as One-Click or Zero-Click, it really means it!

Here are some screenshots of ShoZu in my Nokia E61i

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA - With Motorola () in a declining spiral, there’s a young burning question

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA - With Motorola () in a declining spiral, there's a young burning question in the $142 billion-a-year wide-ranging cell-phone business: Who will profit most from the collapse of one of its majors? Surprisingly, the answer is not customer base leader Nokia () or No. 2 Samsung Electronics. The real winner, as it turns out, seems to be LG Electronics, a South Korean companionship that had a reputation for turning out well-priced, workable handsets that didn't scream out to be noticed. Now, LG's days as a second-tier actress are over. Shipments of its phones were up 54% in the first three months of 2008, from a year ago.

In the process, LG denticulate its market share up to 8.6%, from 6.4% a year earlier, according to check out firm Strategy Analytics.

That catapulted it into fourth place in the rankings, in advance of Sony Ericsson and within striking distance of once unassailable Motorola. If Motorola can't get its comport oneself together, "LG is poised to overtake the struggling company later this year," says researcher Thomas Kang of Strategy Analytics. No question, LG's immediate ascent has been, to some extent, a affair of luck.

Two of its main rivals, Motorola and Sony Ericsson, have stumbled. Then again, LG has expert a lesson or two from competitors' mistakes. Motorola relied too heavily on its trend-setting, ultra-slim RAZR. LG's biggest hit so far has been Chocolate, a lanky total that resembles a chocolate bar and is equipped with a dial pad that glows red: Some 18 million have been sold worldwide since its start in May, 2006. The company also made a brouhaha in Europe and Asia with its Prada phone, a touch-screen model designed in conjunction with the Italian vogue house.

The pricey handset made its debut in March of last year-three months before the iPhone. The Chocolate's star helped propel its creator, Skott Ahn, to the first-rate job at LG's $11.2 billion handset unit in early 2007. But a substitute of churning out a succession of sequels, as Motorola did with the RAZR, the 50-year-old Ahn has relentlessly prodded his males and females to come up with distinctive new models. To turn up the dial on innovation, he doubled the headcount of designers, to 150, and engineers, to 4,000.

He also launched an annual in-house configuration competition. This year's champ is the Secret, fashioned from sleek yet sturdy carbon fiber and tempered barometer and outfitted with a 5-megapixel camera and software that lets users create their own music videos. It went on sales event in Europe this month, and it's likely to be introduced in the U.S. Says Ahn: "We needed leading performers to build trust in our brand." It's working.

The tawdry new handsets have helped LG raise its profile outside of Korea and North America, which together benefit for nearly half of sales. (Verizon Wireless, with which LG has a close partnership in the U.S., declined to comment.) "Carriers are treating LG with more respect," says Harrison Cho, telecom devices analyst at Mirae Asset Securities in Seoul. So are investors.

LG's house is up 57% this year, making it the best artiste all the world's top five cell-phone makers. Mirae's Cho expects profits from LG's handset question to more than double this year, to just over $2 billion, on the back of a nearly 50% cavort in sales.

Koneksi GPRS IM3 terbilang mudah.

The hits just keep on coming and this time its all about Mobile. People are mad for mobile - we hope. Network World today just reported that Verizon and Mozilla have joined the LiMo Foundation - Motorola is already there so it must be the right thing to do. You know - mobile is the future - everyone wants the same experience they get on their computers on the road - so it does make since that we will begin to see the colonization of mobile - let's just hope its a new show and not a repeat days gone by. Go Linux! (PS we just liked this photo cause it reminded us that we can use our mobile while we are on holiday in Positano gazing at Pan doing a little dance)

KOLKATA: The January-March 2008 quarter has seen a change in the pecking order of the Indian mobile phone market. While Nokia is still enjoying leadership position by a huge margin followed by Sony Ericsson, there has been a change in the position for the third slot. Korean vendor Samsung has replaced Motorola to emerge as the third largest player in the Indian market.

Latest ORG data reveal that Samsung is the only prominent player to have increased its market share in the Indian market in the January-March period. It has gained market share from 5.7% in January to 7% in March. In the same period, Motorola India lost market share from 6.7% to 5.9%, but Sony Ericsson remained at the same level of 8.1%.

Even Finnish handset biggie Nokia lost market share in India from 72.3% to 69.5% between January and March. Nokia India managing director (mobile phones) D Shivakumar refused to comment on the issue. “As a policy, we do not comment on market share.” When contacted, Samsung Telecommunications India country head Sunil Dutt said: “In January-March, we registered a good growth in our mobile phone business based on our channel expansion programme, new product launches like the Guru 100, SGH-G800, Samsung i450 to name a few, as well as our brand activity involving Aamir Khan.” Samsung plans to double its Indian market share by end-2008 from the present level.

Motorola India director (marketing-mobile devices) Lloyd Mathias refused to comment on market share. “However, the only thing we can say is that there has been a rationalisation of our portfolio in India. We are not competing in all segments and the focus has moved towards mid-to-high end phones. In fact, our average selling prices have increased in India,” he said.

Motorola recently announced that its global handset shipment had seen a fall from 40.9 million phones in Q4 of 2007 to some 27.4 million handsets in Q1 of 2008. On the other hand, Samsung, which has become the world’s second largest handset vendor, plans to launch a series of new products at entry-level and premium segment to further consolidate its Indian share. Not only are existing vendors sprucing up their plans in the mid-to-high end phone segment, but even Apple’s much-hyped iPhone is set to debut in India towards end of the year.

The photos apparently suggest that the 5 megapixel camera is in fact a Kodak-built unit.

Other features include a 320 x 240 QVGA display, EDGE connectivity, and a Linux-based OS. The phone looks to be fairly slim although the part that stores the Kodak camera module will be thicker, has a curious keypad, a purple dedicated camera button and a Xenon flash alongside the autofocus camera unit. The big question is if this could compete with Sony’s Cybershot camera phones.

Motorola is one of three companies with mould unlicensed wireless devices being tested by the FCC t

Motorola is one of three companies with mould unlicensed wireless devices being tested by the FCC to make up one's mind whether/how they can be allowed to share the DTV spectrum with TV stations. , superior director of regulatory and spectrum policy for Motorola, conceded that the company's pattern "cognitive radio" had trouble when the FCC injected strong adjacent-channel signals into the mix, which means that it could potentially use a means that was already occupied. But he argued that it was a test Motorola hadn't expected, so the appliance wasn't prepared to handle it.

The devices are supposed to seek out unused frequencies on which to transmit, but broadcasters hesitation that they will instead try to use occupied channels and cause interference to TV signals. Initial FCC testing of TV sets found that spectrum-sensing devices interfered with them. Then, in more latest testing of the prototypes, after it malfunctioned.

Since the FCC did not comprise the strong adjacent-channel hindrance test in the first round of testing, Sharkey said, Motorola did not anticipate that it would be part of the testing. "We've adjusted the insigne accordingly," he added. Sharkey said the modification was not the result of a failed prototype, but of adjustments "to the check-up conditions these devices are being put through.

" He added that the testing is not about a also persnickety device, but about giving the FCC the information it needs to come up with rules and standards. He said whatever those are, Motorola will defray them. "As soon as the FCC defines the protection criteria and tests for existing devices that will be tested after the rules, our devices will meet that," he said. "Going into the test, there wasn't a unquestionable set of guidelines for what the conditions of the tests will be.

" Sharkey said the FCC is scheduled to begin two days of testing Wednesday morning. The intervention in March extended lab testing on the devices and is expected soon to begin those tests into the field. The commission is under a mandate to encourage spectrum efficiency and broadband deployment, both of which the devices' backers argued would be served by allowing them to stake the spectrum with DTV stations.

But while expressing confidence in a technological solution, the FCC commissioners have also said that the devices must not intervene with DTV signals. Broadcasters said there is essentially no way to encourage that unlicensed devices will not cause interference, potentially jeopardizing the.

For the pink Panasonic VS2, this is the very first pink handphone that got launched into the market!!! I still remembered that I rushed down to buy it the week it was launched!

For this Nokia 6170, it was a very very affordable phone then.
Who collects mobile phones nowadays?!?!?! They will be phased out in 3 months....

Anyway, I did try to bring them along to the tech stores to see how much I can sell them off.... In hope to use the money to buy the latest phone... Hee hee... But at this present moment, the buyer told me each is about S$40... Man... I might as well just keep all of them.

he’eh, judulnya aneh ya??? ya, maklum sempat bete juga sih mas sama sampeyan, masak nama opera

he'eh, judulnya aneh ya??? ya, maklum sempat bete juga sih mas sama sampeyan, masak nama operator di monsterpack sampeyan isinya hanya "Dark S1d3 of Me", sebenrnya gak masalah sih kalo aku thu pengguna satu nomer. Kedua, buat guru modding-ku (hey, padahal blm diangkat jadi murid :-) ), Kalo mau ngoprek2 mbok ya jangan berlebihan, bikin aku capek aja....Gmn?sengaja ya? he3. Ketiga buwat diriku sendiri, kok mau2 nya pake kartu AXIS n' monterpack Dark S1d3 1.7 49R???tapi emang gituh kan orang indonesia ( <bingung???belajar donx). Udah lah, kebanyakan ngeluh nggak baik.

I usually keep my phone on vibrate whenever I’m walking to and from somewhere or someplace whe

I usually keep my phone on vibrate whenever I'm walking to and from somewhere or someplace where it would be annoying for a ringtone to go off. I usually have my headphones in whenever I'm going somewhere and usually it would be difficult to hear if my cellphone has gone off when I'm outside anyways. Only problem is that I can't feel if my phone is vibrating or not until about the fifth or sixth ring (vibration? shake? random movement? whatever).

I missed a lot of calls (when people actually do call me) because of this problem. Mostly calls from home or from friends wondering where the hell I am. It's a relatively new phone (Motorola Razr V3m - it was the model right before Motorola came out with a new one) and in good condition, since I just got it in September of 2007. I just can't feel it going off when I'm wearing jeans! Or at least, for a very long time anyways.

For some reason, my phone only has a limited number of ringing functions: ring, vibrate, or silent. My dad's cheap TracFone from WalMart has the option for both ring and vibrate at the same time, and it's made by the same company! Hey, Motorola! You make this option available on a cheap WalMart phone, but not for a phone from Verizon that costs about $50 (not including the plan)?! I don't understand this logic.

And since I spend most of my time in the library (more specifically the cafe) it's not as if I can have my phone on ring, because it would be rude and a distraction for everyone else. Argh.

Vibration = FAIL!
