<p>SCEJ hosted a LittleBigPlanet "Special Presentation", where even legendary Hideo Kojima got on stage, to show off his Old Snake Sackboy.</p>
<p>Also during the presentation, Sephiroth Sackboy was debuted.  No details are known at this time.</p>
<p>It looks like we can expect to see many other developers creating DLC for LittleBigPlanet.</p>

<p style="text-align:left;">Ben oui. Je me souviens bel et bien du jour où j'ai acheté ma belle PS3... enfin, je ne sais plus ci s'était le 5 ou le 7 octobre, et en plus ma facture n'est pas à sa place, mais bon. Je me souviens par exemple de la soirée passée à downloader <em>Gran Turismo HD</em>, et de la fin de semaine qui consistance de jouer à toutes les démos que je pouvais. Sérieusement, si vous achetez une PlayStation 3 ou même une Xbox 360 et que vous n'avez pas de jeu de départ, aller chercher le jeu gratuit et downloader toutes les démos de jeux qui vous intéressent. Peut-être que <em>Yaris</em> est vraiment médiocre, mais au moins vous aurez des acheivements.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">Donc quoi faire pour célébrer tout ça? Certains diraient que faire un top 10 des meilleurs jeux sur la console, mais... non. Non ça me tente pas vraiment. Peut-être l'année prochaine, mais pour aujourd'hui je suggère de lancer tout plein de statistiques concernant mes expériences, parce que j'ai du temps à perdre...</p>

<p>Konami Presentará en el Tokyo Game Show un Expansio Pack para Metal Gear Online. El paquete incluirá tres nuevos mapas llamados Silo Sunset, Forest Firefight y Winter Warehouse, también con este pack tendremos la oportunidad de jugar con los personajes Liquid Ocelot y Mei Ling.</p>
<p>Aún se espera fecha de lanzamiento y si este expansion pack será de paga o gratuito, esperamos mas noticias para el Tokyo Game Show, ya faltan escasos días.</p>

<p>Microsoft confirmed today that Ryan Payton, the assistant producer on <em>Metal Gear Solid 4</em> who left Kojima Productions in August, will be working on a <em>Halo</em> game. Microsoft wouldn't confirm to <a href="http://www.edge-online.com/news/mgs4s-payton-joins-microsoft-halo-crew">Edge</a> the rumors that Payton is heading the Peter Jackson <em>Halo</em> project, merely that he's on the team working on "upcoming and existing <em>Halo</em> games." Also confirmed for this team: former Gearbox employee Corrine Yu; her husband and artist from id Software, Kenneth Scott; former Bungie content manager Frank O'Connor; and David Wu, former tech director at <em>Full Auto</em> developer Pseudo Interactive. Seems like they might be gearing up for something big... we can't wait to learn what exactly this team is up to!</p>

<p>Ontem, na Video Games Live, em Brasília, um dos compositores, Tommy Tallarico, (famoso por Metroid Prime, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 e outros) disse que Hideo Kojima quase veio ao Brasil prestigiar o evento. O diretor da série Metal Gear Solid falou com Tallarico por celular na última quinta, afirmando que gostaria de vir, mas estava numa viagem promovendo seu último jogo, Metal Gear Solid 4.</p>
<p>O interessante disso? É o interesse cada vez maior das produtoras no Brasil. Tanto é que Jack Wall e Tommy Tallarico afirmaram que o lugar que eles mais gostam de tocar é no Brasil, e que a Microsoft, a Sony e a Nintendo estão de olho no Brasil.</p>

<p align="center"><em>Thoughts on Scott's Words</em></p>
<p>Scott Steinberg told <a href="http://www.edge-online.com/blogs/my-belief-playstation-3-advantage">Edge Online</a> that the PS3 will "separate from the herd." How will the PS3 do this? CHOICE. Now before you lambast this notion, let's take the time to analyze the type of choices the PS3 allows gamers to make. Heck, we'll even look at the examples that Scott gave himself.</p>

<li><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><strong>Blu-Ray      or Downloads</strong></span><br />
I personally prefer Blu-Rays myself, but there is a growing number of      consumers that want to have access to their videos via their PS3 HDD. I      won't lie, it is very convenient. Though the video quality is not on par      with Blu-Ray as of yet, it is definitely a feature that allows a PS3 owner      to enjoy HD content on their console in a means that he or she may desire.      Not to mention that the PS3 is the only console on the market that plays      Blu-Rays. Yes, I know you knew that already.<!--more--></li>
<li><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><strong>Games</strong></span><br />
Sony's strength has always been the array of titles that were available      for the PlayStation brand. This has only been increased due to the advent      of downloadable titles via the PS Store. You see titles from developers      such as Criterion, Burnout, and Tiki Games, Novastrike. Media Molecule has      developed a gem, LittleBigPlanet. Media Molecule is not known as a large      developer. On the other hand, you have the titles like Metal Gear Solid 4,      Final Fantasy XIII, and the like available for the PS3 as well. Can't      argue against those hard facts.</li>
<li><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><strong>Hardware</strong></span><br />
How is this a choice? The options that developers have at their disposal      in creating masterpieces. You saw MGS 4, this hardware is outrageous. The      horsepower within the PS3 is without question one of its greatest      strengths. We have heard developers complain about the difficulties in      programming for it, now we are hearing the virtues of the PS3. Blu-Ray has      become an asset and the Cell is providing the opportunity to do things      that developers have long dreamed of. No longer do they have to choose if      they want to include a feature or part of the game due to a lack of space      or strength, it now is up to them to decide if they truly want to put that      type of time and effort into the game. That's choice you can believe in.</li>
</ol>
<p>Scott did say that there are several big titles to come in the future. His tone really made it seem like 2008 was barely the tip of the iceberg. I love that. Sony is always thinking about tomorrow. My question is, with Heavy Rain, White Knight Story (in the US and Europe hopefully), M.A.G., InFamous, and Killzone 2 coming in 2009, what all does Sony truly have up its sleeve?</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I’ve got two pretty interesting pieces of news, nothing to do with Darksiders unfortunately.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The first piece is just a simple piece of news about Peter Moore (ex-Microsoft, now EA chap) and his stinging words about the guys at RARE. Apparently, Rare’s time has come and gone, with current users not being interesting in what they have to offer.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">I haven’t played anything from Rare in a while. I briefly played Kameo, but didn’t touch Perfect Dark Zero, not because I didn’t want to play it, I just didn’t have the time on its released. Anyhow, go here to read the small snippet of news for yourself here:</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The second piece is about the MGS 4 and it’s 3 ½ year development, its 180 man team and some of the things they did to bring MGS4’s visuals to life. Its staggering to know that it all really started with the original trailer, that’s all it was, a promotional animated sequence, and then they built upon that…sounds kinda crazy, but it worked.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">They even mention how they used GATOR to use Snake’s animations on Altair (Assassin’s Creed):</p>

Talvez não nominalmente, mas se você é fã de Metal Gear Solid 4 conhece o cara de alguma forma. <strong>Payton é o responsável pela mudança de direção de MGS4</strong>, tornando-o mais atraente ao público americano. Fã de Gears Of War, foi dele a mudança de câmera/perspectiva, mecânica de tiroteios e outras decisões de design. <strong>Muitos apontam o cara como o "verdadeiro" diretor do ultimo capítulo da saga de Snake.</strong></p>
<p>Enfim, a <strong>Kotaku</strong> e a <strong>Shacknews</strong> garantem que a mudança de Payton para os Estados Unidos (sim, ele abandonou o Team Kojima a algumas semanas) não tem nada a haver com "decisões familiares", como alegado por ele. O cara teria sido contratado para ser diretor de <strong>Halo Chronicles</strong>, projeto conjunto da MIcrosoft e do diretor de Senhor Dos Anéis, Peter Jacksson.</p>
<p>A Kotaku garante que a fonte é muito, muito confiável e que a informação é 100% precisa.</p>

<p>Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is finally here and it is by far one of the best PS3 games released. This game concludes the MGS series with great graphics, audio, an amazing story, a perfect blend of cinematics and action, and many weapons and gadgets to kick butt with. Also the new MK II robot and the new camo system are great additions to the series. You can literally play this game in multiple ways as a first person shooter, third person shooter, or a sneaking mission, helping out different sides each time, or helping no one at all. This game will wrap up everything that you have questions about from the previous titles. Overall, I recommend people to get this game, but just for the record, if you haven't played a Metal Gear Solid game before, you might want to try the others out first.</p>

<p> "<i>I've been doing a lot of interviews and stage shows, and half the questions are like 'Will MGS4 be coming out on 360 or other formats?', and in the near future I hope they'll ask me about Metal Gear, about us, about our future projects, and will stop caring about the hardware,</i><!--more-->" Kojima told Eurogamer.</p>
<p> Pressed on the topic, Kojima said that it would probably not be possible to do a port to the Xbox 360. <i>Metal Gear Solid 4</i> had been made on the PlayStation 3 because Konami believed that the console was integral to the success of the game and that the engine therefore had been built only with the PS3 architecture in mind. </p>
<p> "<i>But, you know, what kind of disturbs me sometimes, because a lot of people ask me about this PS3/360 question, is that it's not about the hardware - I want people to look at the game itself. Sometimes I even feel like it should be on a PC so that people don't ask me about hardware and platforms,</i>" he said.</p>
<p> "<i>If we're talking about the future - not MGS4, but my future titles, if we're referring to that - if the hardware technology rises then obviously, you know, it won't be based on the hardware anymore. <description><![CDATA[If there is one game the PS3 has been sorely missing since it&#8217;s release, it’s one with big m]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>If there is one game the PS3 has been sorely missing since it's release, it’s one with big manly words in the title. The best I could find so far is Warhawk, not bad but not quite Gears of War or Crackdown. But fret no longer PS3 owners, if you are insecure in your sexuality, you can now proudly display a copy of Metal Gear Solid 4 from your gaming shelf. Friends and neighbours will no longer be curious about the amount of hair product you’ve been using and will never suspect you only bought a copy so you could stare at Snake’s solid butt cheeks for the next 25 hours: you’re now a red-blooded male, grrrr.</p>
<p>I suppose, looking back, Metal Gear Solid should be quite proud of the fact it’s managed to provide some sort of titillation to every possible sexual persuasion on the planet. Naomi is the most schizophrenic of femmes fatals who sees no need for bras or shirt buttons, and Raiden is often mistaken for a girl who likes to run about butt naked. Then at one point during the first game a wolf piddles on Snake (I bet that does something for someone, somewhere). There are so many examples of this type of goings-on in MGS4 that I couldn’t possibly go into them all here, plus I’d get far too distracted. What I’m slightly more interested in is why Kojima continues adding so much variety (not to mention volume) when it comes to thinking up sexy bits for MGS4. Being inclusive is all well and good but he seems to follow the same tact of volume and variety over logic when constructing the story to disastrous effects.</p>
<p>The story is by no means terrible it’s just terribly confused. At times it feels like a recitation from a Vet of both gulf wars with half a pound of depleted uranium in his head. He’s trying to piece together as much as he can but can only recall those epic moments that are having the most effect on his post traumatic stress. The story attempts to be dramatic, comical, moving, and tragic, while at the same time trying to hold together great depths of intertwining plot and to cover all of recent human history. To Kojima’s credit, he more then succeeds at hitting all of these targets, just not in one consistent or convincing story. There are so many examples of this, but, it’s probably best illustrated in Raiden’s narrative. He comes into the game all suped up as a suicidal cyborg ninja. He’s constantly blathering on about having nothing left to live for; outdoing most hippos when it comes to wallowing in his own self-pity. A perfect vehicle for a heroic tragic death you might think, well it would be if he didn’t have so many of them. He’s stabbed a bazzillian times by Vamp (left a whisper from death), crushed by rubble (seemingly dead), crushed by a super tanker (left convinced of death), then fights off a horde of enemies with no arms (assumed no way of survival), only to turn up at the end of the game with not a bloody scratch on him, in a hospital with 2 arms!!! My point is every one of his epic death scenes is so well constructed and emotionally resonating you’re convinced he’s going to cop it this time. However, when he turns up again all fine and dandy you feel somehow emotionally short changed. If it wasn’t for some exceptional acting and Kojima’s outstanding directing of these individual scenes, I would have started skipping most them half way through the game. Instead, on two counts I shed a tear at the end, which, it should be noted, has never happened to me before whilst playing a video game - well unless preceded by 50 failed attempts at trying to finish Alex the Kid.</p>
<p>The gameplay is similarly comprised of many possibly conflicting elements, here, however, they fit together perfectly. For instance, in previous MGS games going all Rambo in a level was an excellent way to get your butt a good bullet roasting. Here it’s quite possible, if you so wish, to hit the deck like Arnie on a roid rage trip and waste every mo fo in sight. Then after you’ve snuffed out an enemy soldier you’re able to fence his gun for credit to buy more hardware. This is no doubt more fun than creeping about in the shadows but with Snake getting on a bit he needs to chill out with a Playboy and a ciggie every now and then to recover (I kid you not). Don’t worry, if you also get cagey around loud noises as there is a nice lump sum for avoiding contact altogether. The gameplay continues to take you to new and interesting places without you feeling alone and helpless unlike the end of some infamous stag night. Some of the more memorable activities have you following a resistance member (dressed like Dick Tracey) without giving away your position or letting him get captured, track someone as if hunting wabbits and one where you attempt to hold your nerve through a breathtaking chase sequence. It honestly had me begging for another hour long cut scene, just to get my heart rate down again. Most of these sections are perhaps a little easy to overcome on the normal difficulty setting but this does not distract from the overall enjoyment of them. At worst, you may feel a little disappointed after completing a certain section but only because you’ll have several other tactics swimming around your head and you just can’t wait to try next time.</p>
<p>In the end Metal Gear Solid 4 tries desperately to give you your monies worth. Some cracks are formed by stuffing so much in but, ultimately, it provides in abundance and with a great amount of satisfaction in most areas of the game. If you’re still having second thoughts about picking up a copy, just remember, it’s a must buy that will show your mates a lot more about where your PS3 is coming from than it will about you.</p>

<h4>Como os excessos de publicidade podem prejudicar nossa experiência de jogo</h4>
<p>“Tradução não é uma ciência exata”, disse, sabiamente, um amigo meu. Louis Hjelmslev, lingüista dinamarquês, afirmou que cada língua ordena a realidade de uma maneira distinta. O fato é que nós, brasileiros, não temos uma palavra para o termo de origem americana “hype”. Pode-se falar em “exagero”, “badalação”, “alarde”, mas nenhuma palavra, sozinha, sintetiza, com exatidão, o conceito carregado pelo termo original. É preciso explicá-lo em uma construção mais extensa: “propaganda ou discussão na mídia dizendo, ostensivamente, ao público o quão bom ou importante é algo”. Seria algo como “publicidade exagerada”. No âmbito dos jogos eletrônicos, a máquina do hype é bem conhecida, pois é a ferramenta de muitas empresas para alimentar, com seus excessos, o interesse do público.</p>
<p>Durante uma reunição de investidores em maio deste ano, Satoru Iwata, o presidente da Nintendo, ilustrou muito bem o problema: “Sentimos agora que as informações estão sendo consumidas e tornadas obsoletas mais rápido do que nunca. Quando penso na situação atual como um consumidor, quando sou exposto a novas informações cedo demais, sinto que já estou cansado do produto quando ele finalmente é lançado”.</p>

<p>Ironicamente (ou talvez este tenha sido justamente o motivo para a declaração de Iwata), um dos jogos recentes que teve a maior enchente de mídia foi Super Smash Bros. Brawl, da própria Nintendo. O jogo foi mencionado na E3 2005, teve o primeiro trailer exibido na E3 2006 e, a partir de maio de 2007, teve notícias diárias em um blog dedicado. Foram cerca de 300 atualizações ao longo de 11 meses. Quando enfim pude colocar as mãos no jogo, tive a impressão de que já conhecia mais do que deveria. Fico imaginando qual seria minha reação ao descobrir, jogando, cada personagem e golpe. Infelizmente, a alegria da descoberta, aquela doce sensação de voltar à primeira infância, me foi roubada.</p>
<p>Outro bom exemplo de como o exagero de publicidade pode prejudicar a experiência inicial com o produto é Metal Gear Solid 4. Durante quase três anos, Kojima e sua equipe produziram cerca de uma dúzia de trailers, alguns com mais de 15 minutos, exibindo personagens, cenas de ação e cenários diversos. Por mais que você não consiga, obviamente, ter noção do desenrolar da trama através de vídeos promocionais, trechos importantes deles passeiam entre o seu consciente e o seu inconsciente e se alojam em um e em outro, arruinando o efeito de surpresa que algumas cenas poderiam causar no produto final.</p>
<p>Alguns jogos, por mais que tenham ciclos de desenvolvimentos extensos e sejam divulgados com bastante antecedência, não são vítimas graves desse mal. É o caso dos jogos da série Final Fantasy e de muitos outros RPGs, que costumam ter apenas uma premissa básica revelada, bem como detalhes vagos de protagonistas e antagonistas. Áreas avançadas geralmente não são exibidas e as reviravoltas da trama não são nem de leve aludidas. A experiência final do jogador é preservada.</p>
<p>O Team ICO da Sony também costuma mostrar apenas o necessário. Foi assim com ICO, com Shadow of the Colossus e, agora, com seu próximo projeto, do qual só temos uma arte conceitual – e isso bastou para despertar o interesse, sem hiperbolismos. E o que dizer da Rockstar Games? Conhecemos seus projetos com bastante antecedência, mas só vamos ver as primeiras telas e vídeos dois ou três meses antes do lançamento.</p>
<p>Há diversas maneiras de divulgar produtos e gerar percepção, mas nem todas respeitam a castidade dos consumidores (ou mesmo os anseios da equipe de criação, em alguns casos). Se todos os departamentos de publicidade planejassem com mais cautela o que e quando deveria ser mostrado, valorizando relevância e não quantidade, nosso primeiro contato com os jogos seria mais epifania e menos déjà-vu.</p>
