<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I'm diving back into the movie side of the entertainment industry again. I was just watching a couple movies this weekend, and thought, "that was a badass use of that song for this scene". See as follows:</p>
<p>Mudvayne - Forget to Remember (SAW II) - I love the SAW movies. They bring a new twist to the gore genre. After this movie goes haywire, the credits roll and this song starts - awesome. The music video is one of the best, I think, in terms of really working with the movie. Some music videos just make random cuts to movie scenes, but this one really integrates the concept.<span style='text-align:center; display: block;'><object width='425' height='350'><param name='movie' value='http://www.youtube.com/v/ae5JWUFlW5A'></param><param name='wmode' value='transparent'></param><embed src='http://www.youtube.com/v/ae5JWUFlW5A&rel=0' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' wmode='transparent' width='425' height='350'></embed></object></span></p>
<p>Rage Against the Machine - Wake Up &#38; Calm Like a Bomb (Matrix) - They used Rage to end both the Matrix and Matrix Reloaded. C'mon, I think that's perfect. Rage...against the MACHINE....get it? ;) But also, those were cool songs to walk out of the theater with after the movies were done.</p>
<p>The Used - Pretty Handsome Awkward (Transformers) - Here's one that I'm not just talking about the credits. This is seriously a cool guitar riff, and it works perfectly with a car chase. Heck, I even push a little harder on the gas pedal when this song is on in my own car. <span style='text-align:center; display: block;'><object width='425' height='350'><param name='movie' value='http://www.youtube.com/v/pDewqo91vbs'></param><param name='wmode' value='transparent'></param><embed src='http://www.youtube.com/v/pDewqo91vbs&rel=0' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' wmode='transparent' width='425' height='350'></embed></object></span></p>
<p>Foo Fighters - My Hero (Varsity Blues) - Ok, if I remember right, they use this song twice. Which you really shouldn't do, one use per movie only. I don't remember the 2nd time, but when the song intro starts while they are dramatically lining up for a play...that's a great usage.</p>
<p>Black Sabbath - Ironman (Iron Man) - Seriously, if you didn't see this coming... :P What other song would fit this movie this absolutely perfect, if cliche'. Pretty much one of the oldest songs in heavy metal and still pretty cool.</p>
<p>Static-X - Cold (Queen of the Damned) - I would have used any of the songs Jonathan Davis did for the movie, but I wanted to stick to songs done originally before the movie. This is one of Static-X's coolest songs. And, it fits with the whole "cold" and cold-blooded vampires. I chose not to use Deftones - Change, because they use that song in a ton of soundtracks.</p>
<p>Disturbed - Down With the Sickness (Dawn of the Dead, 2004) - The remake for Dawn of the Dead is pretty cool in itself. But this song fits perfectly. Sickness = Zombie Virus, wink-wink. But what really makes the song fit for me, is the use of Richard Cheese's version during the movie, its hilarious. Side note - this song is ALSO in the Queen of the Dammed.</p>
<p>Foo Fighters - Tired of You (I Think I Love My Wife) - Not a terribly good movie, but it does have one saving grace. This Foo Fighters song is used as a sort of theme through a couple scenes in the movie. I think those were the two times that I looked up from my computer screen to the TV screen while it was on.</p>
<p>System of a Down - Lonely Day (Disturbia) - Shia Labeouf is being groomed as Hollywood's future. He plays a much better nervous insecure guy than Jason Biggs. This System' song just helps to prove how bored Shia is after being put under house arrest.</p>
<p>Metallica - I Disappear (Mission Impossible II) - Rumor has it that Metallica was not expecting to write this song. They were under the belief that a song was done to match the movie, and that the producers just wanted Metallica's "sound" for it. The guys were on the way to the studio to record it when they learned that it was not already written for them. So in a half hour drive, they came up with a cooler song than anything in their Load, Reload, and St. Anger albums. It would also be the last song Jason Newstead would ever be a part of. I really like the video for it too. A Warner japonesa anunciou ontem detalhes do lançamento de um box da trilogia Matrix em Blu-ray, a]]></description>

<p>A Warner japonesa anunciou ontem detalhes do lançamento de um box da <strong>trilogia Matrix</strong> em Blu-ray, a ser lançado em 17 de dezembro por lá. A ediçao terá SETE discos, sendo QUATRO Blu-rays e três DVDs. Cada filme terá o seu disco BD mais um de Animatrix. O primeiro DVD terá "The Roots of The Matrix" e "The Burly Man Chronicles" enquanto o segundo conterá "The Zion Archive" (material lançado aqui no Brasil no box com 10 discos, já esgotado). O terceiro DVD conterá cópia digital de “The Matrix” (não está claro se terá só do primeiro filme ou dos três). Detalhes sobre o “Revisited” também não foram divulgados, mas ao que tudo indica serão inseridos nos BDs de cada filme.</p>

Now let's look at the chances that <em>our world</em>, the universe we experience every day, is in fact nothing more than such a simulation. </span><!--more--></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Better set some time aside for this, as we're are going to invoke the darkest of all dark magic - scary maths.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>Recap</strong></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">So far we have discussed how it is impossible to determine <em>for certain</em> that a suitably advanced technological society would not have the desire or reason to create a simulation of an entire ancestral civilization (or any civilization for that matter - be it of the creators' ancestors or a totally made-up civilization). We have also theorized that, even with the limitations of current technological development and the basic laws of physics as we understand them now it is not inconceivable that a system so advanced is possible that it would be able to replicate the human brain and functioning thereof, to the point of consciousness.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">We have assumed that the creation of consious awareness in a system is not dependent on the physical structure of the brain or object in which the awareness grows and develops, as consciousness is a function of <em>complexity</em> rather that <em>substrate</em>.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">We have also looked at the the idea of the "envatted brain" and concluded that, for all intents and purposes, providing that there is no frame of reference, there is pretty much no way for the simulant to know that he or she is such (the final part of the discussion will discuss in more detail the actual nuts and bolts of everyday life as a simulated being).</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>Let's get mathematical</strong></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">So, with all these assumptions in place, we can now look at <em>the odds</em>. What odds? Well, for fun, let's look at the odds that human civilization is in fact so advanced that it has created such a simulation, and that the universe we know and love is in fact that very simulation. The idea that we are not in fact the modern humans - that we are in fact <em>the ancestors</em>, and simulated ones to boot. </p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Now, this is a pretty far-fetched idea, right? That in the "real universe" it is not actually 2008, but some far-distant time (to us) when humans have mastered awesome computing power, perhaps using physics we can't even comprehend yet (bearing in mind there is a lot of known physics we can't comprehend <em>now</em>) and that for reasons unknown they have directed themselves to create a full simulation of life in 2008, from individual people to grass, to the sun, to the stars, insects, air, laws of physics and everything else. And that the simulants in there suspect nothing. Well, let's see how it stacks up.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><em>(Warning - the following will most likely only be fully understood by maths ninjas and people with enormous foreheads)</em></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Bostrom illustrates the basic principle of his theory with some elegant mathematics. He applies it to a posthuman civilization (and uses the term) but in reality this can be seen as applied to <em>any</em> civilization, not necessarily human. <em>Posthuman</em> is just a convenient frame of reference.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">He starts with three basic units:</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">He then adds two extra elements: <a href="http://dogsounds.files.wordpress.com/2008/07/math3.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-161" src="http://dogsounds.wordpress.com/files/2008/07/math3.jpg" alt="" width="21" height="26" /></a> to represent the number of posthuman civilizations able to run such a simulation as we have discussed (or at least with enough individuals who have the resources and interest to create such simulations), and <a href="http://dogsounds.files.wordpress.com/2008/07/math4.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-163" src="http://dogsounds.wordpress.com/files/2008/07/math4.jpg" alt="" width="21" height="26" /></a> to represent the average number of Ancestor Simulations run by such a civilization. This gives us:</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">We have already discussed that the computing power of a posthuman civilization, in order to create such a simulation, would be immense, therefore <a href="http://dogsounds.wordpress.com/files/2008/07/math4.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-163" src="http://dogsounds.wordpress.com/files/2008/07/math4.jpg" alt="" width="21" height="26" /></a> is a large value. If you follow the maths to its logical conclusion, by examining (*) it leaves you with three possibilities, one of which must be true:</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>Bland Indifference</strong></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Now, at this point, Bostrom discusses the <em>Indiffrence Principle</em>. Simply put, a <em>strong</em> Indifference Principle could be used against the outcome in (3) above to reduce the validity of the outcome, Basically, it suggests that by examining your experiences and realities you should be able to determine whether your existence is that of the real world or the simulation, and validate any theory as to which you are in from there. However, because the nature of such a simulation is that it is <em>impossible to tell whether you are simulated or not</em>, it cannot have any effect on the outcome or its validity.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">To put it more simply, some would say "<em>But, we know we are in the real world, because we breathe and because physics works as we predict and because I can feel the sun on my face, therefore (3) is invalid and the entire mathematical contruct is in error as we are in the real world, not the simulation</em>." Sadly, this argument does not hold any water as, if the sun on your face is merely a line of code telling your simulated mind that you are in the sunshine, or if the laws of physics as we know them work just fine because that is the way they are programmed to work, then you have no valid frame of reference and therefore no way to know which you are - real or simulated. In essence, a strong Indifference Principle requires that you know to which set you belong, but in a simulation this is impossible - meaning that it is also impossible to verify (3) as in error or not. He suggests that in place of a strong Indifference Principle, a weak or <em>bland</em> principle shoud be used, and actually validates (3). He explains:</p>

More generally, if we knew that a fraction x of all observers with human-type experiences live in simulations, and we don’t have any information that indicate that our own particular experiences are any more or less likely than other human-type experiences to have been implemented <em>in vivo</em> rather than <em>in machina</em>, then our credence that we are in a simulation should equal x:</span></p>

As one approaches the limiting case in which everybody is in a simulation (from which one can deductively infer that one is in a simulation oneself), it is plausible to require that the credence one assigns to being in a simulation gradually approach the limiting case of complete certainty in a matching manner."<br />

<p style="text-align:justify;"> <strong>Pick a cup</strong></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">So, now we have three conlusions, (1), (2) and (3), with the solution above giving unity to (3) - the possibility is that we are within an ancestral simulation of some kind. But let's look at all three in more detail.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>(1)</strong></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">What is proposed by (1) is that the human race, or any other species on our planet,  will fail to reach a posthuman level of technological evloution which would allow it to create an ancestral simulation. Whilst it does not specifically say that we will all become extinct before reaching the posthuman stage, Bostrom asserts that there is:</p>
<blockquote>
<p style="text-align:justify;">"no justification for thinking that our own species will be especially privileged or protected from future disasters. Conditional on (1), therefore, we must give a high credence to <em>DOOM</em>, the hypothesis that humankind will go extinct before reaching a posthuman level:</p>

We could then assign a credence to <em>DOOM</em> larger than our expectation of the fraction of human-level civilizations that fail to reach posthumanity. In the actual case, however, we seem to lack evidence for thinking that we are special in this regard, for better or worse."</p>
</blockquote>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Basically, for (1) to be true, we're all pretty much fucked.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>(2)</strong></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">With (2) the implication is less disastrous, but equally disheartening. For (2) to be true, it suggests that we are not within a simulation, but rather than this being so because of our own failings it is due to there being no desire to create such a simulation. For the number of Ancestor Simulations to be large, it corresponds that the number of creator posthuman civilizations will also be large.  For the number of simulations to be very low, or none, the number of posthuman civilizations may still be large, but there would have to be a <em>convergence</em> in that all these civilizations would have to consciously decide not to create such simulations.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">This may be for a number of reasons. It is important to note that in all of human history there has been a strong desire to understand our past, and any historian given the resources to recreate an entire civilization - be it the Roman Empire, ancient Greece, World War Two or modern day society - anything - would jump at the chance. For (2) to be correct, it would suggest an inconceivable paradigm shift away from this natural curiosity - to know from where we came and how we ended up where we are - to one of indifference.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">It's not impossible, it should be supposed, that this may happen. Perhaps future posthuman society would have a very strong moral and ethical code that would see the creation of a simulation as causing unneccesary suffering to those within it. Such a civilization would be well aware that the entities within the simulation would be thinking, conscious beings, despite the fact they exist only in a computer program.  And creating a simulation without (simulated) pain, disease and suffering would render the simulation useless as the entire point of the excercise is to recreate true past events, not to create a shiny, peaceful utopia that never existed. Such a rainbow-colored program would serve no purpose and would offer no valid data.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Or, perhaps more simply, the posthuman society would be so far removed from us now that they would derive no benefit or value from such a simulation. Or maybe the things that bring us pleasure now - challenge, a desire for knowledge and an understanding of our past - would mean little to a future human society. It is possible that we cannot even comprehend the priorities of such a highly-evloved society.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Why would this be disheartening? It would be so because although it means that the human race survives long into the future and evloves beyond our wildest dreams, what happens here and now will be forgotten and never thought of - or be of any value - again. As a society we are a tribe of story tellers. We live through our history - stories of bravery, sacrifice, discovery, endeavor. As an example, consider survivors of World War One. There remain on this earth very few; most are long dead. But every year we comemmorate those who perished, and give thanks to those who did not. We celebrate the ultimate sacrifices and give thanks for the changes that resulted. Imagine if this was not the case - if such sacrifices were never even acknowledged and no-one now knew anything about it.  We are our history, we live it and breathe it, and without it we are very little. And to think that, no matter how much you strive to live on in memory once you are gone, you will ultimately be forgotten is a sad thought.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>(3)</strong></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">(3) is by far the most intriguing (and kinda scary) solution, and for this I will let Bostrom explain, as he does so much better than me:</p>
<blockquote>
<p style="text-align:justify;">"The possibility expressed by alternative (3) is the conceptually most intriguing one. If we are living in a simulation, then the cosmos that we are observing is just a tiny piece of the totality of physical existence. The physics in the universe where the computer is situated that is running the simulation may or may not resemble the physics of the world that we observe. While the world we see is in some sense “real”, it is not located at the fundamental level of reality.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">It may be possible for simulated civilizations to become posthuman. They may then run their own Ancestor Simulations on powerful computers they build in their simulated universe. Such computers would be “virtual machines”, a familiar concept in computer science. (Java script web-applets, for instance, run on a virtual machine – a simulated computer – inside your desktop.) Virtual machines can be stacked: it’s possible to simulate a machine simulating another machine, and so on, in arbitrarily many steps of iteration. If we do go on to create our own ancestor-simulations, this would be strong evidence against (1) and (2), and we would therefore have to conclude that we live in a simulation. Moreover, we would have to suspect that the posthumans running our simulation are themselves simulated beings; and their creators, in turn, may also be simulated beings.<br />
Reality may thus contain many levels. Even if it is necessary for the hierarchy to bottom out at some stage – the metaphysical status of this claim is somewhat obscure – there may be room for a large number of levels of reality, and the number could be increasing over time. (One consideration that counts against the multi-level hypothesis is that the computational cost for the basement-level simulators would be very great. Simulating even a single posthuman civilization might be prohibitively expensive. If so, then we should expect our simulation to be terminated when we are about to become posthuman.)</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Although all the elements of such a system can be naturalistic, even physical, it is possible to draw some loose analogies with religious conceptions of the world. In some ways, the posthumans running a simulation are like gods in relation to the people inhabiting the simulation: the posthumans created the world we see; they are of superior intelligence; they are “omnipotent” in the sense that they can interfere in the workings of our world even in ways that violate its physical laws; and they are “omniscient” in the sense that they can monitor everything that happens. However, all the demigods except those at the fundamental level of reality are subject to sanctions by the more powerful gods living at lower levels.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Further rumination on these themes could climax in a naturalistic theogony that would study the structure of this hierarchy, and the constraints imposed on its inhabitants by the possibility that their actions on their own level may affect the treatment they receive from dwellers of deeper levels. For example, if nobody can be sure that they are at the basement-level, then everybody would have to consider the possibility that their actions will be rewarded or punished, based perhaps on moral criteria, by their simulators. An afterlife would be a real possibility. Because of this fundamental uncertainty, even the basement civilization may have a reason to behave ethically. The fact that it has such a reason for moral behavior would of course add to everybody else’s reason for behaving morally, and so on, in truly virtuous circle. One might get a kind of universal ethical imperative, which it would be in everybody’s self-interest to obey, as it were “from nowhere”.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">In addition to ancestor-simulations, one may also consider the possibility of more selective simulations that include only a small group of humans or a single individual. The rest of humanity would then be zombies or “shadow-people” – humans simulated only at a level sufficient for the fully simulated people not to notice anything suspicious. It is not clear how much cheaper shadow-people would be to simulate than real people. It is not even obvious that it is possible for an entity to behave indistinguishably from a real human and yet lack conscious experience. Even if there are such selective simulations, you should not think that you are in one of them unless you think they are much more numerous than complete simulations. There would have to be about 100 billion times as many “me-simulations” (simulations of the life of only a single mind) as there are ancestor-simulations in order for most simulated persons to be in me-simulations.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">There is also the possibility of simulators abridging certain parts of the mental lives of simulated beings and giving them false memories of the sort of experiences that they would typically have had during the omitted interval. If so, one can consider the following (farfetched) solution to the problem of evil: that there is no suffering in the world and all memories of suffering are illusions. Of course, this hypothesis can be seriously entertained only at those times when you are not currently suffering.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Supposing we live in a simulation, what are the implications for us humans? The foregoing remarks notwithstanding, the implications are not all that radical. Our best guide to how our posthuman creators have chosen to set up our world is the standard empirical study of the universe we see. The revisions to most parts of our belief networks would be rather slight and subtle – in proportion to our lack of confidence in our ability to understand the ways of posthumans. Properly understood, therefore, the truth of (3) should have no tendency to make us “go crazy” or to prevent us from going about our business and making plans and predictions for tomorrow. The chief empirical importance of (3) at the current time seems to lie in its role in the tripartite conclusion established above.[15] We may hope that (3) is true since that would decrease the probability of (1), although if computational constraints make it likely that simulators would terminate a simulation before it reaches a posthuman level, then out best hope would be that (2) is true.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">If we learn more about posthuman motivations and resource constraints, maybe as a result of developing towards becoming posthumans ourselves, then the hypothesis that we are simulated will come to have a much richer set of empirical implications."</p>
</blockquote>
<p style="text-align:justify;">So, there you have it. In a nutshell, we either die out, are forgotten utterly, or don't actually exist. And the scary maths suggest that of all these three, (3) is statistically the most likely.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">In our final look at Ancestor Simulations, we'll briefly touch on Bostrom's view of what the greater implcations are for "life in a vat", and what it would be like were we in one.</p>

<p>That is, $latex g$ is a scalar function of a vector $latex {\bf x}$, given by taking the inner product of the two vector valued functions $latex {\bf p}$ and $latex {\bf q}$.  Now, we would like the gradient of $latex g$, i.e. $latex \frac{\partial g}{\partial \bf x}$. What is it?</p>
<p>I frequently need to find such derivatives, and I have never been able to find any reference for rules to calculate them.  (Though such rules surely exist somewhere!)  Today, <a href="http://www.cs.umd.edu/~karapurk/">Alap</a> and I derived a couple simple rules.  The first answers the above question.</p>
<p><strong>Rule 1</strong>.</p>
<p>If $latex g({\bf x}) = {\bf p}({\bf x})^T {\bf q}({\bf x})$, then,</p>
<p>$latex \frac{\partial g}{\partial \bf x} = J[{\bf p}]^T {\bf q}({\bf x}) + J[{\bf q}]^T{\bf p}({\bf x})$.</p>
<p>Here, $latex J[{\bf p}]=\frac{\partial {\bf p}}{\partial {\bf x}^T}$ is the Jacobian.  i.e. $latex J_{i,j} = \frac{\partial p_i }{\partial x_j}$</p>
<p>This rule is a generalization of the calculus 101 product rule, where $latex g(x)=p(x) q(x)$ (everything scalar), and $latex g'(x) = p'(x) q(x) + q'(x) p(x)$.</p>
<p>A different rule concerning exponentials is</p>
<p><strong>Rule 2.</strong></p>
<p>If $latex {\bf f}({\bf x}) = \exp({\bf q}({\bf x}))$, then</p>

<p>Here, $latex \odot$ is the element-wise product.  The strange product with $latex {\bf 1}^T$ can be understood as "copying" the first vector.  That is, $latex {\bf x} {\bf 1}^T$ is a matrix where each column consists of $latex \bf x$.  (The number of columns must be understood from context.)</p>
<p><strong>Rule 3.</strong></p>

<p>Surely there exists a large set of rules like this somewhere, but I have not been able to find them, despite needing things like this for years now.  What I would really like to do is use a computer algebra system, such as Maple, Mathematica or Sage to do this, <a href="http://groups.google.com/group/sage-support/browse_thread/thread/532aa0ecfb5918b">but that doesn't seem possible at present</a>.  (It is suggested in that thread that Mathematica is up to the job, but I have tested it out found that not to be true.)</p>

<p>Aquel lejano 1999, el milenio agonizante (no jodan con esas madres del año cero ¿ok?) nos dejaba muchas cosas a su paso. La década de los 90 es la que recuerdo con mayor cariño (infancia, adolescencia, ya saben), me encantaban las caricaturas vespertinas, nintendomanía los sábados y de vez en cuando una "reta" en mario kart 64. Todo era pura diversión y de vez en cuando estudio (la secundaria y la prepa no son un gran reto que digamos), y me encontraba uno de esos días viendo la caja pendeja (idiota es poco) cuando de pronto ví en segmento de cine de algún programa que anunciaban la cinta "The Matrix".</p>

<p>Con tan solo ver unas pocas escenas el geek en mi interior se puso bien horny, se veía muy chingon y prometedor y el "bullet time"... futa, en mi vida había visto algo parecido. Esperé y esperé, y luego seguí esperando; En aquel entonces vivía en Compostela y las películas tardaba entre uno y dos meses para llegar al cine condesa (único cine funcional en Compos en aquellos tiempos) después de la fecha de estreno.</p>
<p>Al fín llegó la película y puedo decir que fue un orgasmo geek. Los efectos impresionantes, la historia atípica (en ese entonces), la ambientación poca-madre, y una larga lista de etc. (madres! hasta  Carrie-Anne Moss se veía como una diosa). Me sacaba de onda la gente que salía del cine con cara de "que pedo ¿Qué acabo de ver?", no tenían ni puda idea de lo que se había tratado la película, pero yo no podía esperar a ver la continucación (era más que obvio que habría una segunda parte), que de hecho fueron 2 películas las que le siguieron y tardaron mucho en llegar.</p>
<p>Las secuelas tardaron tanto que comencé a dejar de apreciar tanto a la primera, cada vez salían más y más películas con muchos más méritos en lo referente a efectos, y el cine basado en comics estaba despertando, reuniendo dos de mis pasatiempos favoritos.</p>
<p>Llegó "Animatrix" y la esperanza resurgió. Los cortos compilados en este DVD simplemente son sorprendentes, sirven para establecer un pequeño marco referencial para aquellos que, o quieren saber más de la historia, o bien, quieren entender un poco mejor la saga. Posteriormente "Matrix reloaded" y despues de esta "Matrix Revolutions" llegaron a la "pantalla de plata", ambas en 2003. La primera la ví en el cine, no me gustó, me desagrado tanto, que la tercera no despertó en mí el interés por verla en la gran pantalla.</p>
<p>En el camino los Wachowski perdieron algo, no se lo que es, que simplemente hizo que las secuelas de la serie me parecieran vomitivas (tal vez la escena de "sexo" en la segunda haya contribuído), y no puedo verlas "de un jalón".</p>
<p>Hace unos días intenté ver Matrix Revolutios y me quedé profundamente dormído después de la primera hora.</p>
<p>"The Matrix" es la onda, todavía me gusta, las secuelas simplemente no me llenan.</p>
<p>Tal vez de estrenarse en los 90 (o si al menos no hubiera habido tanto tiempo entre una y las otras) habrían sido la onda también.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align:justify;">Matriks diagonal adalah matriks bujur sangkar (jumlah baris dan kolomnya sama) dengan seluruh unsurnya bernilai 0 kecuali pada diagonal utama (diagonal dari kiri atas ke kanan bawah). Matriks identitas atau matriks satuan adalah bentuk khusus dari matriks diagonal, dimana seluruh unsurnya bernilai 0 kecuali pada diagonal utamanya yang semua unsurnya bernilai 1.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Biasanya, untuk mengetik (menginputkan) matriks diagonal atau matriks identitas, kita melakukan secara manual dengang mengetik angkanya satu persatu. Tentunya, ini akan sangat merepotkan dan butuh waktu lama, apalagi jika ukuran matriksnya besar.<!--more--></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Nah, pada tulisan kali ini saya akan memberikan cara yang praktis, mudah dan cepat dalam menginput kedua jenis matrik tersebut. Caranya dengan memanfaatkan fungsi yang ada pada Add-in Matrix Excel. Penjelasan pengantar mengenai Add-in Matrix Excel sudah pernah saya tulis sebelumnya. Bagi yang belum membacanya, silakan lihat tulisan seri matrix bag.1 pada kategori Tip &#38; Trik di blog ini.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Bagaimana caranya? Untuk latihan misalnya kita ingin membuat matriks diagonal dengan unsur diagonalnya adalah 7, 11, 3, 21, 59. Ketikkan misalnya angka-angka tersebut mulai dari sel A3 sampai A7. Kemudian, misalnya kita akan menempatkan matriks diagonal di range D3:H7. Bloklah range tersebut, kemudian tulis rumus =MDiag(A3:A7). Selanjutnya, tekan CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER secara bersamaan. Maka matriks diagonal akan muncul di range D3:H7 tersebut, seperti terlihat pada tampilan berikut</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Selanjutnya, untuk membuat matriks identitas, lebih gampang lagi. Misalnya, kita ingin membuat matriks identitas dengan ukuran 4x4, yang kita tempatkan pada range D10:G13. Blok lah range tersebut, kemudian ketik rumus =Mide(4). Maka matriks identitas akan tampil pada range D10:G13 tersebut seperti tampilan berikut:</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align:justify;">Tulisan kali ini akan memperkenalkan fasilitas add-in Matrix (lihat tulisan seri Matrix bag.1 pada kategori Tip &#38; Trik di blog ini untuk pengenalan terhadap add-in matrix) yang cukup menarik dalam rangka didaktik (pembelajaran) tahapan eliminasi Gauss-Jordan.<!--more--></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Eliminasi Gauss-Jordan merupakan pengembangan metode eliminasi Gauss (lihat tulisan seri Matrix bag.5), dimana augmented matrik, pada sebelah kiri diubah menjadi matrik identitas. Teknik yang digunakan dalam metode eliminasi Gauss-Jordan ini sama seperti metode eliminasi Gauss yaitu menggunakan operasi baris dasar. Namun demikian perhitungan penyelesaian sistem persamaan linear secara langsung diperoleh dari nilai pada kolom terakhir dari setiap baris. Artinya, kita tidak perlu lagi melakukan substitusi balik untuk mendapatkan nilai-nilai variabel pada sistem persamaan linear.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Dengan menggunakan contoh persamaan pada tulisan sebelumnya, yaitu misalnya kita punya persamaan berikut:</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align:justify;">Tulisan kali ini bertujuan untuk memperkenalkan fasilitas Add-in Matrix (lihat tulisan seri matrix bag.1 pada kategori Tip &#38; Trik di blog ini untuk pengenalan add-in Matrix) yang cukup menarik dalam rangka pembelajaran (didaktik) tahap-tahap eliminasi Gauss. Secara sederhana (pendalaman konsep silakan pelajari literatur-literatur matematik), eliminasi Gauss adalah suatu algoritma yang efisien untuk pemecahan sistem persamaan linear. Tahapan dalam eliminasi Gauss adalah dengan mengubah persamaan linear ke dalam matriks teraugmentasi (augmented matrix). Selanjutnya, matriks teraugmentasi tersebut disederhanakan melalui operasi baris dasar (elementary row operations) sehingga menjadi matriks yang <em>Eselon-baris</em>. Setelah menjadi matriks <em>Eselon-baris (row echelon)</em>, lakukan <em>substitusi balik</em> (back substitions) untuk mendapatkan nilai dari variabel-variabel dalam sistem persamaan linear.<!--more--></p>

<p>Voor degene die het niet weten de Arnold's karakter van de Terminator films behoort tot de T-800 series van de Terminator lijn van Cyberdyne. Ik geloof dat Arnold's karakter in de verschillende films waren verschillende versies van dezelfde 101 modellen. De cyborg zei al in T3 (of T2? weetnie meer...) dat deze lijn allemaal hetzelfde uitzien als de Terminator van de eerste film.<br />
De T-800 is simpel het type endoskeleton die we ook kennen van de toekomst scenes van de films.<br />

<p>De  Terminators van de tv-serie waren overigens geen T-800's, die aangezien wat meer konden, gezien emoties etc...(end spoiler haha). Arnold van T3 was ook een upgrade van de T-800, mede door de verandering van de tijdlijn...(nvr mind...long story!)</p>
<p>Anyways...Kickinger's model kan dus gewoon een andere T-800 model zijn...</p>
<p>Ik moet echt zeggen beetje jammer dat de T-800 in de film zit...Het is al aangegeven dat deze aankomende film deel uitmaakt aan een nieuwe trilogie. Als dit het begin is had ik verwacht in de eerste nieuwe film het begin van de oorlog tussen man and machine...hier is dus mijn punt...in Terminator 1 zei Reese dat Skynet (A.I. die Cyberdyne (bedrijf) overnam (en uiteindelijk de wereld)) de laatste set Terminator's moest upgraden want die waren makkelijk te zien (rubberen huid).<br />
Skynet had natuurlijk de bedoeling om Terminators als infiltrators te fixen om dichterbij de mens te komen...anywhoo...Reese zei dus dat de nieuwe Terminators (Arnold) moeilijk te spotten waren en dat ze honden nodig hadden omdat die het wel konden.<br />
Er is dus een progressieve lijn van productie modellen...ze worden steeds beter...zoals diegene in de tv-serie. Dan vraag ik me af waarom nu al een T-800 met human skin? Ik zie persoonlijk liever een all-out war in de eerste film tussen man en machine, en met machine bedoel ik woeste cyborgs met miniguns en rocketlaunchers en wilde grasmaaiers als voeten waar ze over de mensen heen boeken...vet chill...</p>
<p>en in T5 een realisatie van Skynet dat het niet lukt want mensen zijn te slim dus we gaan infiltrators fixen (T800+human skin) en misschien ten slotte laten zien hoe ze het idee hebben om de etterende John Connor te killen in het verleden om het heden te fixen voor zichzelf....</p>
<p>T6 de conclusie...John Conner heeft het verleden overleeft...ondanks Skynet's pogingen om meerdere Terminators op hem af te sturen...en dan de final beatdown tussen de 2, met Skynet als winnaar die uiteindelijk de mensen als energiebronnen gaat gebruiken. Ze fixen hierbij een virtuele wereld waar de mensen in kunnen leven zodat het lichaam ongestoord energie kan leveren...klinkt als een blockbuster...</p>
