We watched this movie because it was on the hard-drive. Well, and I don't care if you consider it a spoiler - because I hope you won't watch it ever, it wasn't a real dissapointment because the expectations were quite low. But even so, this movie underachieved seriously. 8 points of view, my ass! Just three and then a classical action movie, where the brave American (disturbed) soldier cathes the islamic looking Morrocan badassmotherfuckers. Wooow, what a twist! No kidding. No joke: this movie REALLY sucks. Huge problems with the plot and huge mistakes in the part of production. You know the bad guys and you do not need this point of view shit to figure it out what happened/will happen.

And I am really tired to see the very bad terrorist, who kills and bombs everybody/everything and stops when a little girl is on the road. During the escape. Please, reconsider the plot and don't produce movies like this! The content aspects are part of the traditional USwearethebest paradigm, but it does not bother. Well, yes it is! So: highly timeconsuming - nishnish, no no, never ever!

South Park, episode six: it is about us. Completely agree. Sick aspect: while watching the episode the internet stoped. Excellent episode!

Martin Buttrich

Martin Buttrich è uno dei più convincenti e meglio nascosti talenti della club culture dell’ultimo decennio. Animato da una viscerale passione per la musica elettronica, Buttrich prende parte ad un’interminabile serie di progetti sonori, spesso celando la propria identità sotto mutevoli pseudonimi. Il suo debutto avviene nella metà degli anni ’90 quando incontra l’allora esordiente Timo Maas che lo invita immediatamente a lavorare insieme in studio. Da instancabile sperimentatore, Martin non ama confinarsi in un solo genere e così tira fuori un’incendiaria traccia su ritmi spezzati che vende oltre 250.000 copie solo in Gran Bretagna. Dopo numerosi e fortunatissimi brani inediti e remix, Buttrich si concentra sulla produzione degli album di Timo Maas “Loud” e “Pictures”, a cui prendono parte artisti quali Kelis, Finley Quaye, Brian Molko e Neneh Cherry. Loco Dice

La carriera di Loco Dice ha inizio a Dusseldorf in Germania, dove con lo pseudonimo di Dice’C si afferma nei primi anni ‘90 come dj hip-hop e muove i vinili al fianco di artisti del calibro di Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Jamiroquay e Usher. A metà degli anni ‘90 inizia a frequentare party e club dove si suona house-music e con il tempo si rende conto delle grandi possibilità creative ed espressive della musica elettronica. Inizia dunque a proporre questo tipo di musica in un piccolo club, il Tribehouse di Dusseldorf, dove un giorno viene “scoperto” da Timo Maas che lo porta a Ibiza e gli dischiude le porte dei migliori party del mondo. Lì viene ribattezzato dai suoi amici Loco Dice, mentre ballava sul tetto dello Space mentre la sicurezza gli gridava “Hey loco! Vieni giù loco!”. Insieme a Richie Hawtin, Luciano e Ricardo Villalobos, Loco Dice fa parte di quel nucleo di djs che sta reinventando la musica elettronica. I suoi tour lo vedono ormai impegnato in tutto il mondo.Tra le sue ultime produzioni segnaliamo “Carthago” su Cocoon Recording, “Menina Brasileira” su Ovum, oltre allo splendido mixato “Green & Blue” registrato live mentre suonava a fianco di Ricardo Villalobos. La consacrazione definitiva avviene nel 2006, grazie alla pubblicazione di “Harissa Ep” sulla Cadenza Records di Luciano e del singolo “Seeing Through Shadows” sull’ormati “etichetta culto” Minus. C'est la question que je me pose ce soir, encore une fois très tard.

Après avoir rapidement fait le tour des blogs, désespérément à la recherche du track qui me donnera la force de veiller, je me rends à l'évidence. je ne trouverai pas ce que je cherche. Mais qu'en est-il exactement de cette quête ? Je cherche quelque chose de REPOSANT. Voilà c'est ça. J'en ai marre de tout ce qu'on peut entendre en ce moment, et que je me repasse pourtant à longueur de journées. Overdose. Je veux écouter de l'électro qui me transcendera. Mais pas par la force. On peut faire tout aussi bien avec beaucoup moins. ce qui est par définition le concept de la minimale, joliment repris dans le titre de l'album dont je vous ai tiré le morceau ce soir, "Min2Max" (sur Minus, LE label de Richie Hawtin).

La minimale est le genre des dj-esthètes. Ceux qui recherchent la perfection. Meticuleux. Patient. Attentif... Une obligation pour profiter de tout ce qu'elle peut apporter. Tout n'est souvent que longues montées de sons enchevêtrés, où le kick assassin n'arrive que bien tard, mais en se faisant terriblement désiré. Les basses sont généreuses et un peu déglinguées. les bleep et les blop tintent au fond de mon crane. Le rythme m'hypnotise... Tout ce que j'aime pour tenir jusqu'à demain.

Ce morceau, qui n'est pas ce qu'on appelle un hymne au dancefloor, est sortis il y a déjà deux ans. Je crois bien qu'il me marquera à jamais. Il en ressort une extrême sensibilité, une émotion rare pour un morceau de musique électronique. Allé, j'arrête d'en parler où je vais chialer... Sincèrement j'apprécie beaucoup les sons de Loco Dice, qui était dans une autre vie, il faut le rappeler, un des plus grands DJ Hip Hop en Allemagne, et qui aujourd'hui s'occupe des meilleures after à Ibiza. Dédicace à tout ceux qui ont pu profité de son mémorable set l'année dernière aux Nuits Sonores. En bonus je vous mets deux ou trois autres tracks qui me font kiffer, définitivement plus club, mais toujours aussi hypnotique.

Okay.... So maybe more like Celebutard Sunday but no matter how you dice it, Monday is 'round the corner and at some point in time you gotta get it together and reflect. It was an enlightening few days. So much so that it has taken good ole SOVA a couple extra days to reflect on the intensity of the experiences to properly conclude.

I was lucky to get a shot at hooking up with someone whom I've been dying to meet for a while now on Thursday. While protecting the names of the discreet, it was all that and more. At times I found myself drowning in a sea of dudes (go figure, in SF), however even during said meat-puppet show, I was captivated by someone whom I had only met by the most remote of chances. Bonus- I never knew the power of Johnny Cash until now and will never discount it again.

Friday took your SOVA to the other side of town to witness one of the best performances of the year (in my book). Loco Dice, the blazing hot German techo DJ dropped a set at Mighty. This was courtesy of the best techno party throwers in SF, Blasthaus. With the exception of Loco Dice wearing the same T-shirt as yours truly, I had a great time as he laid down some of the greatest sounds I've heard in a long time. The fun I had with the girls from Berlin as well as new pal Marcy from Royal Oak was pretty hot too. I even mysteriously got put up on Youtube- go figure.

My own BW and sideshow, Dumpster Hugger, provided me with ample head candy throughout the weekend, prompting me to consider stealing the two of them, moving off to Utah, and pitching HBO on a reality show based loosely around Big Love. Will have to get back to you on that one. Its amazing the places you find love.

Its also amazing to get a boot on your truck. Oh SOVA, you were on such a roll. Yes I was, but every roll comes to an end. Well, mine started with getting booted. The biggest kick in the seeds however, was that fact that when I went down to eff it up at the SFMTA, all the girls were smoking hot, rendering my rage powerless- akin to sticking some kryptonite down Superman's shorts. Has San Francisco smartened up?

Anyhow, big week ahead with Say Hi in town on Wednesday and Control (as well as 30 Days of Night) opening up this weekend. Wish I would have been in Chicago this weekend as planned- hurt not to be there (miss you!)... but SF did alright in making it up to me.

It seems as though Ripperton isn't going to let up on releasing quality singles anytime soon. "Skilift Upstairs The Sleeping City," out on Marc Romboy's Systematic Recordings, doesn't stray far from the elements which have gained him so much acclaim. Crafted from an entrancing pathway of rapidly shifting and repeating pads, a climbing and descending vibes arrangement echoing the serenity of an airborn trip over fresh snow, and an electron-infused vapor which crackles contently to itself, "Skilift" is a blissful excursion. For me, it easily ranks among Ripperton's best and I can't wait to purchase it.

Over the weekend Resident Advisor received a much-needed makeover which makes it easier on the eyes, more functional and also easier to navigate. Definitely check that out. Also over the weekend, the folks at French blog jaws tight! made its last post. I'm not sure why, thanks to Babelfish's wildly inconclusive translation, but they have a new blog going called Get the Curse, which is entirely in French and appears to be completely reviews-based. Hopefully my French readers get something out of it.
