Há míseros 05 anos atrás...

O Metallica lança o St. Anger, para a grande maioria um álbum execrável, na minha humilde opinião, foram apenas idéias compradas.

Pra Ser mais claro falarei do clássico álbum preto da banda, na época em que foi lançado o Metallica tinha conseguido um feito que poucos artistas conseguiram, tornar um álbum pesado em um álbum “Pop”. Sim haviam patricinhas e mauricinhos escutando Metallica porque de fato o CD é muito bom, mas também porque era cool escutar Metallica. E Não, a banda não lançou um CD Pop, mas se chamam de clássico você deve ter idéia do porque isso, estou certo?

Pois bem, eis que agora já li mais vezes do que gostaria pessoas criticando este CD (começa a fazer sentido “o mundo dá voltas”), que para muitos foi o começo do fim do Metallica, que depois lançou o “Load”, “Re-Load”, “Garage Inc”, e o que carinhosamente chamo de “Orquestrado”. Mais algumas coisas precisam ser deixadas claras:

- Nessa época já tinha senso crítico, e mais do que isso opinião própria, e sinceramente, criticar o album preto chega a ser ridículo. É o típico caso de que Metallica era pra muitos a banda boa que os tornavam cool porque não era pra todo mundo, quando a banda resolveu abraçar o mundo, os “cools” deixaram de ser diferenciados dos demais e se tornaram apenas mais uma pessoa que escuta Metallica. Mais do que isso, o que acho mais ridículo é criticarem a banda por ter mudado de estilo, sendo que pelo que já andei escutando(muito pouco), várias bandas tentaram em um momento, ou outro, fazerem algo diferente, o problema que não tiveram a mesma sorte.

- E sou da opinião de um dos membros da banda, os álbuns lançados depois do preto não foram sensacionais como os primeiros, mas estavam longe de serem ruins. Digo mais, concordo com uma entrevista que Hetfield deu há pouco tempo, o problema que do álbum homônimo em diante foi o fato de que eles trabalharam mais em quantidade, deixando a qualidade um pouco de lado. Com o preto deu certo, porque praticamente só há clássicos sendo tocados, mas com o Load e Re-Load, o problema ficou claro. Tivemos algumas músicas sensacionais, Fuel, The Unforgiven II, Until it Sleeps, Low Man’s Lyric, entre outras. E tivemos algumas outras mais ou menos, que para o padrão Metallica era abaixo do ideal, mas novamente, longe de ser ruim.

- Por fim, uma das coisas que mais me faz admirar eles é o fato que “fodam-se” é o lema deles. Veja bem, eles poderiam fazer mais dos mesmo, e fariam algo ótimo, mas seriam um “Bon Jovi” da vida, e sim, isto é uma critica, porque a sensação que tenho ao escutar uma música nova do Bom Jovi é que escutei essa mesma música em algum álbum nos anos 90, alias, até por isso parei de escutá-lo, e vamos dizer que musicas bonitinhas não são do meu estilo, não precisa ser pesado, mas pelo menos que seja criativo, vide U2. E o Metallica fugiu daquilo que os definiam como banda, porque eles eram mais do que simplesmente uma banda de Trash Metal. E mais uma vez o mundo deu voltas, pois eu cansei de ler criticas positivas aos álbuns Load, Re-Load, e atualmente ouço quase que unânime todo mundo criticar tais álbuns, o que Houve? Aquelas pessoas morreram? E os prêmios que eles ganharam?

Então voltamos para o St. Anger, o álbum é ruim? Não. É ótimo? Não. Mas que porra aconteceu então? Sinceramente, eu não entendia, porque não sou uma Peyton Sawyer, muito menos um Tom Ferrell da vida, infelizmente não conheço tanto de música quanto gostaria, mas até onde sei, quase todos álbuns que escutei na vida eram apenas medianos, e entre eles lembro de bandas de peso como Guns N’ Roses, Audioslave, Engenheiros do Hawaii, entre outros. E claro haviam algumas exceções, como os 02 primeiros álbuns dos Raimundos, O próprio Metallica e o tão citado álbum preto, e mais recente, o Elect the Dead de serj Tankian, e mais alguns. Então nunca entendi porque todo álbum do Metallica deveria ser sempre fodão, com 10 ou mais músicas ótimas, quando quase nenhum grande artista consegue isso. A verdade é que não importava o que o Metallica fizesse, eles já haviam sido rotulados como os imperdoáveis.

As is seen, the resulting XML is pretty straight forward.  With knowing that REST web services work with GET and POST methods, it is nearly nothing except working with xml!

For example, to query a REST service, like the one I mentioned above, we can use LINQ's XAML functionality.  The XElement class (declared in System.Linq.XML) provides a Load method that can retrieve an XML data from a url with GET  method:

After retrieveing the full xml, you can extract any kind of information you want. no matter how complex is it!

Adding or modifying information using POST method is a bit more complex. First we have to obtain a channel by which we may POST the information. Then we have to create an instance of data entity in XML format. Finally we have to POST data through the channel.

To get access to REST service we use a HttpWebRequest since it let's use the POST method and let us specify the type of information we are posting.

Being a writer, I think, is sometimes very much like being a major league relief pitcher. I say this with zero to no experience as a major league relief pitcher. In fact, I've only taken the mound once - last year, during a friendly game of afternoon softball right before my ten year high school reunion. Although I managed to strike Jim "The Anvil" Rumpf out, I would certainly not call my show of ball-throwing anything above passable.

But I digress. When relief pitchers come in and do really well, it's often viewed as an incredible feat, almost a work of art unto itself. That guy just smoked eight batters in a row! Someone build a statue already! When a relief pitcher comes out of the bullpen and sucks out loud from beginning to end, there's nothing but indignation. Who is this guy? Why does he exist? Is that the bat boy? You can see it on the pitcher's faces, too, especially if they're having an awful show. Words can't express the pain Luis Ayala feels in this picture:

Writing is kind of the same way, I feel. When you're in the zone, you know it, and so does everyone else. They fully recognize. When you suck, it emanates from every single word on the page and, while folks might not necessarily be damning your name in crowded bars, they will certainly turn their noses up. I've done that on countless occasions. Prime example: Chuck Klosterman's Sex, Drugs & Cocoa Puffs. Special K recently admitted in an interview that he penned that book without ever going back over what he wrote. No shit, Chuck. I couldn't believe it was the same guy who wrote Fargo Rock City.

Last month I wrote a bunch of stuff about Metallica and my personal feelings towards them, and it really felt like everything that came out of me was a wild pitch or big fat beach ball. I'd write these blog entries/articles, feel confident for five seconds, then realize it wasn't at all what I wanted to say. No matter how many times I sat down and tried to figure it out, I felt the sweat on my brow like a thousand people at Shea were counting on me to whip three past Vladimir Guerrero in the bottom of the ninth. So I deleted it all, like some sort of mad censor in the 1930s. Part of this has to do with my own insecurity, but another part of it is Metallica is just one of those bands I find incessantly aggravating.

Growing up, Metallica were the flavorless rock giant I couldn't comprehend but the rest of the world loved. Their early records, to me, were largely joyless, derivative affairs lacking the character and enthusiasm of such rival acts as Megadeth or Anthrax. When I was in high school, Metallica started mellowing out and writing mainstream cowboy rock. That was interesting. A few of those songs mean something to me, but that could just be the time frame. I actively despise Hagar-era Van Halen, but "Human's Being" has a special place in my heart because it reminds me of the summer before my senior year (specifically, attempting to load canisters of gasoline into my parent's minivan and spilling the shit everywhere - I was certain I would die from toxic inhalation).

Anyway, the world seemed to be on fence regarding Metallica after they got haircuts and started wearing expensive suits. Load, ReLoad, and S&M were all holding efforts. These guys weren't blowing anyone's minds anymore, but they weren't totally crapping out. Humanity was waiting for Metallica to do something - by that I mean rise or fall. Around 2000, the whole Napster thing happened. Cracks in the foundation. Then, a little bit later, the whole Jason Newsted thing happened. Structural integrity questioned.

Then St. Anger came out. That was when the motherfuckin' dam broke.

Suddenly, everyone hated Metallica. Being a strong supporter of underdogs and someone who just likes to go against the grain, I started to pull for James, Lars, Kirk, and the other guy. St. Anger wasn't the worst record I ever heard. Besides, they had the balls to put out Some Kind Of Monster, possibly the least-flattering rock n' roll documentary ever made. At the time, that film seemed to say, "Hey, we're Metallica, we're losing our fucking minds, we do tons of rock star bullshit, and we know it. We are aware of our stupidity."

So Metallica and I were cool for a while. Tracks from Death Magnetic began leaking in late August and, despite the cumbersome album name and likewise song structures, I have to admit I dug what I was hearing. It looked like these guys were sort of back on track, had put their rich rock star horseshit behind them, and they just wanted to rock. This illusion was shattered by the Death Magnetic mixing controversy. Look - Dave Mustaine may have faked a rare finger injury to break up and reform Megadeth without Dave Ellefson in 2002 or whenever that was, but I'm pretty sure he and at least two other members of Megadeth have been present for every album mixing/mastering session in their history.

At this point, it's hard to even hear the name Metallica without images of jet skis and oil paintings and other opulent bullshit flashing through my head, let alone listen to their music. Of course, this starts the debate where do you draw the line between artist and art? Surprisingly, there is a line for me. I can't really get down on Bad Brains anymore because of the whole homophobia thing. Glenn Danzig never killed any babies, so I can listen to "Last Caress" guilt-free. Axl Rose, on the other hand, has had known issues with violence against women. Hence, I feel slightly ashamed to own Appetite For Destruction.

This is a debate that will probably never be solved. I mean, nobody's perfect. Hell, I've done some pretty reprehensible shit in my life. But I'm getting a little off-point. I wasn't kidding in this post when I wrote I had spent the past two weeks agonizing over Metallica. I was literally thinking about them night and day, hearing James Hetfield's laughter in my mind as I tried to sleep interspersed with Lars Ulrich muttering the word "stock." It was fucked up because I was supposed to be on a tweo week vacation and I literally could not escape the Masters of Puppets. This proves I'm either really dedicated to this whole music critic thing or I'm just as crazy as the people I was thinking about.

At any rate, this intense mental debate wore my body down. One night as I was sipping a warm cup of coffee, a stream of mucous shot up into my nose as if to say, "Hey there, chief! Hope you don't like breathing, because that's not on the agenda for the next five days!" That's when I knew: Metallica and all their corporate bullshit have given me a cold. I think I would have preferred some stinging lower back pain or a gnarly splinter in one of my toes. Whatever. I'm just thankful a few solid days of rest and cold medicine were all I needed to shake my thrash metal-induced ailment. Freelance writers rock life sans health insurance.

For the record, I still don't really know how I feel about the heavy metal gods that I'm sure more than ten writers have called the Led Zeppelin of my generation. That's why I still plan to sit down and listen to all their albums all the way through one day, blogging my thoughts, of course, for the keenly interested. The last time I checked, the only Metallica stuff that really got my motor going were parts of Load, parts of St. Anger, the majority of Black, "Master of Puppets," and "One." I'm curious to see if that's changed. As I type this, I'm listening to Pantera, a band I could not abide between the ages of fifteen and twenty-five.

Interesting side note: Mets relief pitcher Billy Wagner is well-known for coming on the field to Metallica's hard-charging anthem "Enter Sandman." I think he even got on stage with the band once at a New York concert. Does this mean something? Yes. Billy Wagner definitely likes Metallica. They have never directly influenced his purchasing of Kleenex or Nyquil.

Scenario:

You user wireless/wired network to conenct to your company network. Suddenly one day you are asked to travel and you take the laptop with you. While traveling you find that any application you open takes at least 1 or 2 minutes to spawn. You are stumped. You log on to the network and find that nobody has had this problem. You disable Compiz and desktop effects but still no improvement.

Solution:

Open /etc/hosts in your favorite editor.

sudo vim /etc/hosts

The 1st two lines read

127.0.0.1 <hostname>

127.0.0.1 <hostname>.<domainname>

Change the second line to

127.0.0.1 <hostname>

And voila you're good to go :)

And what's better, unlike, Winblows you don't have to restart :D

Reason:

The way Ubuntu is built I think it tries to reach the network to check the existance of your username everytime a command is executed. Even if you're running some application from the GUI it means a command is spawning the application in the background console. To verify this, even before you make the above changes, fire up a terminal and try spawning an application. After some time you'll notice a "username not found" kind of error and then the application starts. This means the OS tried to search for the username on the network and upon failing finally launches the app. But this removal of domainname should fix the problem.

I needed to reach Radio Nepal at 1 PM and I was there at my day office doing bookings and all...and this was really hectic and tiresome...calling so many places at a time..confirming Hotels...confirming tickets...and calling the vechile service at a time and also mailing the client..mailing the hotels...Uff...it was so tiresome..and I needed to reach there at 1 PM and I was there as I already told...and there was a jam...jam...jam..jam....jam...jam and what could I do then go from wherever I could enter..then the big door of Singha Durbar is closed whats more disgusting than this...plus scroaching sun...and I needed to be there...at 1 PM and I was on the road till 1:30 Pm...I was about to cry...really..I have never seen such a huge crowd of vechiles....no where to go...no place to enter...everywhere people so much angry..every one needed to go first...I needed to go first and as fast as I could....then ..thankgod there was no jam inside Singha durbar....lol

Yes, Sir who had wished to listen our voices had not arrived what could I do more than say Thank God !!!!...and then I calmed myself little bit...

Yeah..the voice test was good..but because I didn't had any energy I begun nicely but ended really poorly..Rabin Sir...told that my tone was good...hehehe I am happy and I must say he is the most impressive man I have ever met in life..no ego at all...treated all staffs under him..as if they were his own brothers and sisters...and such a clam in voice and sucha power he had in his presentations..one becomes overwhelmed....I became that..

So, again I had to return home because I hadn't eaten anything,...it would sound crazy if I say that there was no jam......and me so clever that I kept my cell switched off so, that my day office will not get chance to contact me...So, I ate food by helping mom cooking..and after few minutes of having the food..I headed towards office..and if I say there was no jam again it would be a joke...god again reached there....

What else again confirm everything....and my collegue Dawa ...uff he had messed up everything...and moreover he had made the tickets for nepali and they are Indian....tomorrow they are coming....( I am hearing this Ritu haru ma timi...really nice song hai...in this FM 98.2...because there is no headphone to hear songs from the computer Bhai took it away to hear song from his cell...what the hell).

So, my guests are coming tomorrow..and I know how much I need to work tommorrow becaue my bossess lack patience...and guess what Sweta lacks punctuality (They try to do everything in a perfect manner but nothing would be perfect....lol..no I am lieing).

These Indian flocks wants to do everything..trekking at Lukla...bungee and Rafting at The Last resort and adventurous trip at Chitwan at Machan...Trekking I confirmed from Binayak Dai, Rafting and Bungee from Bineeta Shrestha ( it was fun talking to her who work there at The last Resort and was so scared to do bungee that she had quit at the last moment ) and there at Machan..this guy..Nischal..starts flriting in the phone..hey..asked so many things but hey do you think I answered..asked me about Dashain Shopping...rather than the bookings I had given..it was nice to know him as well..tells his home is at Mahargunj...)

It is night now and it is just 9:00 PM and right now I am tuned into Times FM...where I can listen Hindhi "nice" songs...(but this song is so stupid..Fulo sa chera tera...). I didn't had to go to Radio Nepal at night today..so I am able to wrtie these words..I am happy for this too...I was so much away from internet today...and I missed it too..and I missed talking with my friend poo.

This day I must say my Jam day..Jams...I hate and I am always in a jam..but believe me I try to maintain the traffic rules..always..because I love doing so...I felt a little work load today and when I confirmed all the bookings and talked with the client over phone ina english that I think he didn't understood I don't know why I talked like that ...as if I didn't knew how to speak english..my another faliure...nervousness...I must admit...I could have talked in hindhi..padega...garega..chalega...hhahahhah...LoL

Moreover I enjoyed talking with Roshni didi...and I enjoyed my work after so long..a relief I am feeling right now..typing these words...but I hate jams hai...

On Saturday there was a fire just south of Bulahdelah that closed the Pacific Highway for two hours. From what I understand the fire is thought to have begun by a discarded cigarette thrown from a car travelling on the highway.

The fire started at about 3.30 pm and as the fire intensified cars were seen travelling on the wrong side of the highway in a bid to keep clear of the fire. With the thick smoke about this was not the best move to make.

Another fire was burning off the highway near the Karuah Bridge on Monday, again producing thick smoke.

With the massive amount of growth in the bush over the last couple of wet growth seasons, the fuel load is now massive and fuel reduction burns have been limited. With temperatures already peaking in the low thirties (Celsius), the season ahead looks grim.

Tapi tidak berapa lama ini, Facebook benar-benar membuat layout baru sebagai
layout default; dan menghilangkan tombol 'back to old Facebook' yang dulu ada
dia kanan atas pengguna yang mencoba layout baru.

Ini seolah memaksa user nya menggunakan layout baru,
dan membuat sebagian user kecewa.
Gua coba iseng menayakan kepada beberapa teman tentang layout baru ini,
sebagian besar dari mereka mengeluhkan sulitnya untuk kembali
menyesuaikan diri dengan layout baru ini.
Mungkin karena banyak dari mereka yang baru saja beralih dari Friendster ke Facebook.
Gua mengerti betapa menyebalkannya bagi mereka karena harus kembali menyesuaikan diri lagi.

Sebetulnya gua juga salah satu user yang agak sebel sama layout baru Facebook,
karena banyak fitur-fitur yang diganti dan dipindahkan.
Sehingga cukup membingungkan gua, dah ahirnya menghabiskan waktu
mencari tau cara untuk apa yang kita mau lakukan.

Tapi ayo kita bersama berpikir maju kedepan, tinggalkan zona nyaman kita.
Segalanya memang terus berubah, dan akan terus berubah;
dan ayo beradaptasi dengan perubahan dan ambil keuntungan dari perubahan itu.

Buat yang belom tau atau belom nyadar apa keuntungan dari layout baru Facebook:
Layout baru ini dibuat seperti mini blogging, jadi semua peristiwa yang kita lakuin di FB
akan langsung terlihat oleh teman-teman kita. Misalnya kita posting foto, mereka bisa langsung tau, melihat, dan tentu nya kasih komentar.
Atau kita baru jadian sama gebetan kita, ga usah pamer; karena otomatis ada 'pengumumannya'

Buat yang suka install ratusan aplikasi padahal ahirnya ga dipake,
aplikasi yang ada hanya memberatkan kita dan orang yang membuka halaman kita loh..
Mungkin awal-awal menginstall 10-20 aplikasi masih oke lah,
bayangkan aplikasi kita terus bertambah dan bertambah.
50 aplikasi aja udah membuat halaman FB kita sangat berat untuk di buka.
Layout baru memindahkan aplikasi-aplikasi itu ke tab tersendiri
dan meninggalkan beberapa fitur-fitur yang paling umum dipakai di halaman muka milik kita
plus mini blogging yang gua tulis di poin sebelum ini.
Jadi halaman kita tetap enteng dibuka oleh kita dan teman-teman kita,
ga peduli berapa banyak aplikasi ga penting yang terinstall di profile kita.
