En este caso, el punto de partida es un fichero holamundo.tex en el directorio holamundo.

En un documento LaTeX se diferencian los siguientes elementos básicos:

Selección de la clase de documento: que determina el tipo de documento, esto es, su estructura, divisiones, formatos... El tipo de documento debe ser la primera línea del fichero principal y tiene la forma \documentclass[opciones]{tipo}
Preámbulo: en el que se cargan y configuran elementos extra que no proporciona la clase de documento. Se trata del código que sigue a la clase de documento hasta el inicio del cuerpo. En el que se diferencian tres partes fundamentales: carga de paquetes adicionales, configuración de parámetros y redefiniciones propias.
Cuerpo del documento: que es realmente el objetivo de la escritura. El cuerpo queda delimitado por las sentencias \begin{document} y \end{document}.

Básicamente existen cuatro clases principales, article (artículos), book (libros), report (informes) y letter (cartas), aunque se pueden descargar infinidad de ellas (para tesis, currículo, presentaciones...) del CTAN junto con su documentación.

Para este primer ejemplo, en el fichero holamundo.tex se escribe el siguiente texto (usando el editor que se instaló en el capítulo anterior). El código es bastante claro y está comentado pero, si hay cualquier duda, comentadlo aunque en la próxima entrega se analizará en detalle el porqué de cada cosa.

Independientemente del mecanismo utilizado, en la carpeta donde está el fichero .tex, aparecerá el fichero DVI o PDF resultante.

Ahora es posible cambiar el texto que aparece dentro del cuerpo del documento o en la configuración para personalizar el contenido (los distintos párrafos se separan con doble línea, es decir, dos enter).

Alberi in LaTeX

Ho trovato un package interessante e semplice da usare per scrivere "alberi" in un documento LaTeX. Si chiama qtree e si possono trovare alcune informazioni del suo uso in linguistica.

L'uso è molto semplice: con una semplice definizione ricorsiva (visita preorder) tipo:

\Tree [.S a [.NP {\bf b} c ] d ]

viene definito un albero di questo tipo:

A differenza di altri ambienti (che intervengono sul postscript) questo è anche visibile con DVI previewer. E' molto facile inserire anche altri elementi LaTeX all'interno dell'albero, in modo da integrarlo, per esempio, con label e ref.

Una limitazione: non più di 5 nodi figli possono essere aggiunti e, se si fa l'errore di metterne di più, non viene segnalato all'utente, ma l'albero risultante non include le parti con l'errore.

MySQL - beyond PHP: Formulare und Reporting

Heute habe ich mich nach einigen Jahren Pause mal wieder auf die Suche nach Reporting und Admin-Tools für MySQL-Datenbanken begeben. Anscheinend gibt es gar nicht so viele Lösungen, die als Allround-Tool daherkommen (oder daherkommen wollen). Letztendlich waren es nämlich für die beiden Aufgaben jeweils nur eine Software, die als tauglich erscheint. Erscheint, später mehr!!

Was meine ich mit Allround-Tool? Durch grafische Oberflächen geprägt erwarten viele Nutzer von einer Datenbank, sie biete Formulare und Berichte (Filemaker-Nutzer). Die etwas Findigeren wissen zumindest, dass es Tabellen gibt und dass diese das eigentliche Herzstück einer Datenbank bilden (Access-Benutzer).

Diese Menschen mit ihrer Desktop-Datenbank sind meistens einsam und effektiv, oder - bereits zu zweit - verzweifelt, weil sie nicht mehr wissen, wer gerade woran arbeitet.

Hier kommt nun eine Netzwerk-Datenbank ins Spiel: in den allermeisten Fällen wohl MySQL. Von diesen allermeisten Fällen benutzen die allermeisten Fälle PHP um MySQL anzusprechen. Verwaltet wird die Datenbank mit PHPmyadmin, weil das alles sowieso in XAMPP mit dabei ist. Heraus kommt eine dynamische Website. Die Formulare sind in HTML geschrieben. Wenn man aber schon soweit gekommen ist, weiß man was ein Editor ist und hat gute Chancen, alles WYSIWYG zu durchschauen und sich Wahrem und Schönem zu widmen.

Aber der Assistent-geführte, Unterformular-verliebte Desktop-Datenbank-Nutzer fragt sich nun: Wo ist die Convenience? Was ist die Konsole? Und wo ist mein Bericht?

Für die Formulare gibt es Servoy. Die grafische Benutzung ist auf den ersten Blick sehr einfach: man wählt die entsprechenden Felder aus und erhält ein Eingabeformular. Seltsamerweise wird Servoy v.a. in der Mac-affinen oder Filemaker-Szene diskutiert, auch weil Filemaker für blöd befunden wird (Anm. zu recht). Mich erinnert es sehr stark an Access; ein Desktop-Datenbankbenutzer kann sich also sehr schnell eingewöhnen.

Für Berichte gibt es Navicat. Nach den Screenshots zu urteilen orientiert sich auch hier die Benutzerführung nach den Assistenten von Access: also es werden Felder ausgewählt, als Boxen in einem Bericht positioniert. Fertig.

Kritik spare ich mir für ein anderes Mal auf. Etwas Wahreres und Schöneres habe ich beschlossen an einer anderen Stelle zu suchen.

Aber wer mag kann, Servoy und Navicat ja ausprobieren. Hilft bestimmt.

Also hier so auf meim Mac versuche ich Arabisch mit XeLaTeX zu schreiben. Das einzige Ergebnis, das so einigermaßen in die richtige Richtung geht, ist die Anzeige der arabischen Wörter in wortweiser falscher Reihenfolge.

Das funktioniert aber nur mit - tataaaa - es entbehrt nicht einer gewissen Ironie (man darf's eigentlich nicht laut sagen), also kurz - es ist: Also warum das so ist, weiß ich nicht. Ich habe jetzt drei und eine halbe Stunde versucht, das Baby zum Laufen zu bringen. Naja ...

Also die Schriftart, die mir wenigstens ein bisschen Arabisch angezeigt hat war:

Times New Roman.

Cool. Ein Tritt in die Eier, ein Schlag in die Magengrube!

Also wer jetzt ein bisschen die Geschichte kennt, kann nachempfinden wie demütigend das für einen LaTeX-Codierer sein muss. Times New Roman!!! Mannomann

Vielleicht liegt's auch am Acrobat, vielleicht an Preview. Aber ich mach mich heute nicht mehr zum Deppen. Wer weiß wie's geht, kann's ja für sich behalten.

Ich schreibe weiter in OpenOffice. Denn da schreibe ich wenigstens ...

Alternativ kann ich mir meine Glyphen ja aus Kartoffeln schnitzen, kopieren ausschneide, drehen und im Copyshop wieder zusammenkleben. Geht schneller...

Da ich seit etwa 10 Jahren mit LaTeX (und allen seinen Verwandten) arbeite, es liebe, und Knuth als Propheten verehre, erlaube ich mir nun folgendes festzustellen. Folgende Feststellung ist ewig gültig, richtig und wird sich nie mehr ändern:

LaTeX ist die beste Software mit der schlechtesten Dokumentation!!!

Fett, drei Ausrufezeichen, rot und unterstrichen.

Es wimmelt vor Tippfehlern. Wieviel Jahre habe ich verbracht falsche Angaben zu finden!?
Beipiele, Beispiele, Beispiele. Weil, meine lieben LaTeX-Hacker: Beispiele rocken, Beispiele sind der Burner, Beispiele sind so ... super. Einfach so hilfreich .
Bitte, bitte: veraltete Angaben löschen! Von Servern tilgen! Nicht mehr verlinken! Beispiel: Seit Jahren (!!!) gibt es keinen Support mehr für TIFFs. Aber es steht immer noch auf einer der ersten Seiten bei Google. Raus aus der Doku! Wichtig! Fett vorne auf die erste Seite: Best Practice. Und die ist: soundso und nicht anders!
Fehlermeldungen wären ja sehr hilreich, wenn man sie auch verstehen würde. (Gilt übrigens auch für meine Freunde von der Java-Insel).

Übrigens: Falls, du Leser, dich mit dem Gedanken trägst, eine Einführung in LaTeX zu schreiben. Lass' es! Braucht keine Sau! Gibt es schon 10000 Mal. Steht immer das gleiche drin. Fang lieber an zu programmieren oder die schlechten Dokus zu verbessern.

Übrigens 2: Notorische LaTeX-Nicht-Möger halten bitte hier Ihr Maul! Mausschubser haben hier nichts zu melden!
