This season shoes were heavy on detail, height, opulence or all of those things at once. I like a grandiose shoe, so it worked for me.  But some of these fuckers do look dangerous and painful, but maybe worth the risk?

So Paris’ Fashion Week has final come to an end. *Cue the tears.* While we are ecstatic about what’s come out of it, we are sad that the most glorious fashion shows on the planet are over. *sigh*

We guess we can pull it together enough to reminisce about our five favorite Paris Fashion Week shows – Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, Chanel, Lanvin, and Louis Vuitton.

Alexander McQueen

This show was amazing. It was totally McQueen, very out there and imaginative, but not as harsh and, well, downright scary as some of his previous collections. We read somewhere that he was inspired by an old gnarled tree in his English country home and we could definitely see that in some of the swirling, animalistic prints. Incredible.

ruffles, pleats and tiers

this girly trend was a hit from anna sui, christopher kane, galliano and lagerfeld. toughen up these frills with a tough motorcycle jacket or pair a stiff blazer with your ruffles for a menswear feel.

full skirts

as seen at lanvin, leulla and miu miu, the full skirt is best worn on the natural waist. this is a great trend for you if you have large hips that you want to play down.

yellow

yellow popped on the runways at abaete, alexander mcqueen, chris benz and pucci. wake yourself up with a whole yellow ensemble for spring! or, add a yellow accent to any outfit with an accessory, like shoes or a clutch.

loose pants

this is my favorite trend for spring. finally! some comfort for my poor gams! i loved phillip lim, chloe, diesel, cavalli and stella mccartney.

circus

at betsey johnson, marc by marc and topshop unique, some serious fun went down on the runways. you can add this playful trend into your wardrobe by incorporating humor into your outfits. remember, bright colors, stripes and checks rule for this trend.

oops i did it again i forgot my credit card... DEBT!

Though Alber Elbaz's vision for Lanvin traditionally skews in the direction of restraint his Spring collection (Lanvin S/S 09 Slideshow) provided appealing twists on ornamentation and indulgence. Working with the now signature Lanvin shapes - loose yet structured suits, wasp waist volumized coats and gathered goddess dresses, Elbaz built on the familiar. The first series of looks presented is straight out of the Lanvin play book and is sure to prove profitable with the growing roster of Lanvin devotees. For a woman looking for ease of use and wearability Lanvin is always a fail safe choice.

That said, there was nothing safe about the second portion of the Lanvin offerings. After getting the classics out of the way so to speak, Elbaz embarked on a wild ride of print and panache. Beginning with a multi-coolr sequin embellished cocktail dress paired with a heavily jeweled necklace, the collection moved swiftly into the kind of lavish 'more is more' embellishment reminiscent of a certain other French powerhouse. The leopard print dresses (so very Stephen Sprouse) and pops of intense color - see the acid green shifts - were so Vuitton one could easily see them paired with an overwrought logo-heavy handbag.

Elbaz is of course too smart for such shenanigans. As noteworthy as the more bombastic moments of the collection are they still represent that minority of what was presented. We are given a small taste of excess which makes it all the more palatable. The shimmering blue and purple of Amanda Laine's final ensemble wouldn't stand out as much if it weren't set against a sea of black.

DISKOKULE. i følge balmain skal vi kombinere paljetter og skinn. Dette er en av de få tingene jeg faktisk likte.

Dolce & Gabbana mener vi skal kle oss som bestemor møter rødhette. Jeg er meget for rutene, men ikke lengden på skjørtene. Selv om det så helt greit ut på catwalken, vil det der aldri se bra ut i virkeligheten.

Dette er fra Pradas vinerkolleksjon. Store deler av kolleksjonen var i svitsiske blonder. Den kjolen der var ikke fin, jeg så en nydelig topp på H&M som er tydelig inspirert av Prada. Jeg fant ikke bilde av den, men den var eggehvit, med perleknapper oppover langs ryggen.

om det var en ting som nærmest skremte meg, så var det vell Luella. Kreppet hår og goth-sminke er hvertfall ikke helt min stil. Men om du er skap-emo, er dette tiden å komme ut på! http://www.luella.com/

Lanvin mener blant annet at vi skal ta på oss en boss-sekk i vinter. Neida. Men Lanvin har gjort et par søte forsøk på den lille sorte. Selvfølgelig er den lille sorte alltid en klassiker uansett årstid. Og det andre bildet var jo nokså elegant, spesielt med håret i "stram eleganse". Men det første bildet er en skam.

en interessant hatt fra Louie Vuitton. Jeg ville aldri gått ut med noe som minner om et ødelagt bildekk på hodet, men som bestemor alltid sier: smak og behag kan ikke diskuteres.

MAKEUP. let's go crazy

Vivienne westwood er og forblir en interessant kvinne. I vinterens kolleksjon valgte hun å være litt crazy på sminkefronten. welcome to the jungle.

noe du vil si? hvorfor skriver du det ikke i ansiktet ditt? Victor & Rolf ville si "no" på flere måter enn bare med en kåpe. lurer på hva de sier nei til. Men ellers elsket jeg faktisk dette. endelig noe elegant! jeg gjentar; er du skap-emo, kom deg ut!

ME LIKE. dette er Dior, og jeg smiler. Store øyne som Twiggy, stort og sexy hår som birgitte bardot. To av historiens vakreste kvinner i ett.

miu miu gikk for en mer sporty look denne vinteren, og derfor gikk samtlige modeller med badehette. Sporty look er jo flott, men badehette? no thank you.

Galliano mener dere skal se slik ut. Jeg syns ikke pose-på-hodet-looken er så tiltrekkende, men det er nå bare min mening.

Looking at footage of the Sonia Rykiel show makes me really emotional. Beautiful dresses, happy models, a rainbow palette and a level of optimism almost unheard of this season (this isn't the first economic downturn her business has survived) all explain why Rykiel has made it to 40 years in the industry. The look is very accessible which means that to some extent this way of wearing clothes can be adapted regardless of budget. I'm certainly now considering trying out a shiny black hat with an evening look, not to mention the colour combinations or the crimped hair and massive smiles all the models were sporting.  

Everybody loves Sonia, which was clearly demonstrated not only by all the flowers thrown on stage by the audience but also by the 30 or so 'tribute' looks from a wide range of contributors, shown at the end and arranged by Rykiel's daughter as a surprise. Below are my favourites, the offerings from Alber Elbaz, Karl Lagerfield, Yoji Yamamoto and Martin Margiela.

Alber Elbaz went to the plain and simple style like always..

"Whatever's happening now," he said, "it's the end of fake. What's not real will go.

Miu Miu

Miuccia Prada sent out a focused collection..The history part came in with prints that looked like painted Roman tiles..

Many consider Alber Elbaz of Lanvin to be somewhat of a genius. His shapes, colors, and use of fabrics are mesmerizing season after season. Take this most recent collection, spring/summer 2009—gorgeous silks in orange, yellow, and red mada up the bulk of the line. His expert draping and tailoring gives interest to styles that might not be innovative, but are just plain good-looking. Mais oui!
