De rede dat ik gekozen heb om een 500watt bouwlamp aan te schaffen is heel simpel, ik heb niet het geld voor een flitser, althans nu nog niet. Vandaag ben ik ook naar de bouwmarkt gereden en heb een paar isolatie platen gehaald (piepschuim) die kunnen dienen als een reflectie scherm. Bij de onderstaande foto heb ik dus nog geen reflectie scherm gebruikt, dat komt later bij een volgende keer.

Later deze week komen er nog meer resultaten en natuurlijk het resultaat van Special Effect 3.

On that note, why do we need differing titles for male and female versions of jobs? They do the same thing, so why call them different things? Like actors. Why can't females be actors? Why do they have to be actresses? Or waitresses? (Although usually the feminine version is a prettier word, so I'm all for adopting that for males instead of the other way around).

I could understand for things like policeman, or mail man, but I think they should be changed into gender-neutral forms. Words like actor already are. Next thing you know, there'll be different titles for different races too, like "blactor" (black actor), or ages. Stupid english.

On a side note, I am looking for topics to do audio rants about. Anyone got any suggestions, requests? Anything? I'll give you candy...

Resenha do animê Devil May Cry – (ficção-ação)

O animê Devil May Cry é baseado no jogo, de mesmo nome, bastante conhecido pelos jogadores de vídeo-game. A história do animê não acompanha a contada no jogo, que já tem sua quarta versão, mas utiliza os personagens principais e algumas idéias do game.

São doze episódios, intitulados de missões, pois Dante (personagem principal) tem um trabalho novo em cada episódio. Dante é filho de Sparda, o homem que dividiu o planeta em inferno e o mundo em que vivemos. Foi o demônio Sparda que baniu todas as criaturas maléficas para o inferno, os afastando da humanidade. Mas após um tempo, o mundo do inferno começou a interferir na humanidade e Dante, filho de Sparda, tem como missão derrotar os demônios que entram no mundo humano.

Sua empresa, Devil May Cry, é o local onde trabalha e vive. Morrison é seu amigo que lhe arranja os trabalhos. Apesar de ser um caçador de demônios, Dante aceita qualquer emprego que lhe render um bom dinheiro e for de seu agrado.

Dante é metade humano e metade demônio, pois nasceu de uma união entre uma humana e um demônio. No primeiro episódio, Dante tem como missão proteger Paty, uma carismática criança, que passa a morar com ele até o fim do animê. As personagens Lady e Trish, conhecidas pelo jogo, também estão no animê. Lady aparece logo no segundo episódio e também trabalha da mesma forma que Dante. Trish, que no Devil May Cry 1 (game), se torna parceira de Dante nos negócios aparece trabalhando sozinha.

Do início até quase a metade do animê não tem um enredo concreto, é basicamente o Dante caçando demônios, só mais para o final é que começa se desenrolar uma história. Apesar de o animê ser baseado no jogo Devil May Cry, que tem uma boa história e um personagem principal extremamente carismático, o animê poderia ter sido melhor, não ficou a altura do jogo. O melhor episódio do animê é o último, pois é o único que realmente conta uma história relevante e o que mais tem ação.

Infelizmente, Dante não foi bem explorado no animê, pois as lutas são muito rápidas, além de que ficou faltando a sua transformação para demônio. Como jogadora fiel de Devil May Cry, aguardei ansiosa sua transformação no último episódio, mas não ocorreu.

It's time for a reading according to Veronica (regular posts on her work situations).  The question asked today is whether or not Veronica's contractual position will be extended.  Veronica's work history is based on renewals of her work positions and much depends on funding.

I decided to use a Mini Celtic cross to get a snapshot view of the energy surrounding Veronica in relation to her work question.  I didn't think it was necessary to do a full 10 card Celtic cross reading because you can get a pretty good idea using the center cross of the larger layout.

It is not always necessary to do full board layouts using the Lenormand style cards & basic layouts work just as good.  The deck in the image has short meanings right on the card (in English) and it is a great deck for a person who is just learning Cartomancy.

Card 1 - The Heart 24

"All lovers will be happy when they see this heart."

As the center card which describes what is on Veronica's mind/question we can see that it would be something near and dear to her, ie. emotional attachment to her job.

Card 2 - The Bouquet 9

"A fine bouquet of flowers brings success and sunny hours."

As the crossing card which gives an indication of the opportunities or hindrances in relation to Veronica's question we can see 'good' energy surrounds the process.

Card 3 - The Bear 15

"The bear says 'Think before speaking to the jealous if you would escape from them."

As the foundation card, lying beneath #24 it is obvious that Veronica has some rivals in her work environment.  The Bear card is very powerful.  She is in a high profile role and under tremendous scrutiny due to the observations of her coworkers and authority figures. This is common when you work by contract. It seems she has to prove her worth every step of the way.  If she slacks off - her contract may not be renewed even if there is funding.

Card 4 - The Lady 29

"This lady, by her position, can command all the rest of the cards by a single gesture."

As the passing card but still active, the Lady card represents Veronica.  Interestingly, the little phrase on the card is very true.  Veronica can make or break her chances of renewing the contract.  The responsibility is very much on her shoulders.  I get a good feeling so far about the reading.

Card 5 - The Rider 1

"Open the door quickly to this fine horseman who brings good news from abroad."

As the potential future card, there is definitely some news coming Veronica's way.  The Rider card is above #24 The Heart, they are touching which means it is also read as a combination.  This duo promises a pleasing result which will make her very happy.   So far, so good.  

Card 6 - The Ship 3

"A ship predicts riches, inheritance, a voyage"

As the immediate future card, and to the right of the Heart card 24, it is certainly a good sign.  The Ship card could mean travel but it is not within the scope of the job Veronica is doing.  It can be something else, too, that will generate some income for her.  

In relation to the original question the Ship #3 is a blessed influence which can only mean 'yes' to the contract being renewed.

With the Heart card - a romantic weekend, lover at a distance, fondness for travel.  Is Veronica going to meet someone through work?  There is a hint - the Bear card can represent a loving and protective man.

The Rider and Ship cards combined do indicate news coming from a distance.  There is more within this Mini Celtic cross than the answer to the work question.

When you analyze the crossing card (the Bouquet 9) with the final card, there is a hint of Veronica receiving a surprising answer which she did not anticipate.

All in all, the cards are favorable and there is every indication the contract will be renewed.

Well, this morning I saw a photograph of this lady hanging on the Church noticeboard, announcing that she had recently died. I didn't know her name before this. I thought that she had must've been taken ill suddenly.

About an hour later, I was told the truth. She had been murdered.

I found out that she frequented other Churches in my area, and also went to St. Mary's C of E church down the road. She was indeed homeless, and used to sleep on the benches in their Churchyard, sometimes seeking shelter in their porch. She must've been extremely brave to spend nights there - that Churchyard is terribly lit, which makes it very dark at night. I have been through it at night in the past, and it is not nice.

She was brutally attacked last Monday night. Her body was discovered on one of the benches by a passer-by on Tuesday morning. This is really sad. I can't understand the motivation to attack a harmless, innocent and homeless person. There is so much evil in this world, we can only hope and pray that she will now rest in peace. And that the Police will be successful in their efforts to catch, and bring to justice, the attacker.

first of all, because it was 4:30 in the morning.  then again i did get a job with shifts that go from 5:30-7:30 in the morning so it is my fault but that doesn't mean i have to like doing it.  when i got to work, being the first person there in the morning i had to unlcok all the doors in the pool area.  well, i forgot one.  i forgot to unlock the men's locker room door.  so when at 6:00 the swim coach wanted to come in he couldn't come in through that door so he proceeded to walk out of the locker room, move two feet over to the other door that leads into the pool, yell at me hardcore, and then unlock the door himself. 

then later that morning, still before school, he saw that i was drinking sheetz cappacino and he said "isn't that expensive?" and i don't think that a dollar and fifty sense is especially expensive so i said No and then he shrugged and i know it doesn't seem like this means anything but trust me it was just a really awkward moment.

the person who came in to relieve me from work was suposed to come at seven thirty but she came at seven so now it's seven in the morning and school doesn't start for an hour what am i suposed to do? i can't sleep, i just drank cafiene.  i just sat in my car and listened to the hackneyed music on my ipod. 

i'll skip to lunch.  it was the worst lunch in my life.  i stood in the pizza line as usual, and sense there was a pep rally today we had pizza hut pizza.  well, even though i always stick up for the lunch ladies whenever people disrespect them, there is actually one who actually deserves it.  she is SUPER slow, she's like 25 years old, chinless, and all the super old lunch ladies are way faster than her, and nicer. 

usually the lunch lady will put the pizza on a little tray and then hand it to you.  but she was really slow and it was holding up the line so i just grabbed the pizza myslef like it makes a difference anyway.  i reached in and the kid a few people down started screaming "YO! THEY GET IT FOR YOU!"  and i'm like "thanks, todays my first day" which was obviously sarcasm because that kid knew im a senior why would he think i didn't know that? anyways i tried to pick up a slice and only half of it came up, the other half was stuck in the center of the pie.  when i tried to grab the other half out the lunch lady finally showed up and she pushed my hand away and said "STOP." like a mother scolding a little kid and i just wanted to scream MAYBE IF YOU WEREN'T SLOW AS USUAL I WOULDn't HAVE TO DO YOUR JOB MYSELF.   but instead i just ignored her and payed full price for half a piece.  she needs to get fired. (one time i heard one of the other lunch ladies yelling at her because she didn't empty the trash like she was suposed to. ha ha.)

then during lunch i realised i hate pretty much everyone i eat with in the cafeteria.  i'm SO glad i signed up to help in the library during my lunch period.

then i decided to skip the pep rally and hang out in the library where i found some of my other freinds that i really didn't feel like hanging out with so i sat by myself which means they thought i was mad at them and my phone kept vibrating every ten seconds with text masssages like "are you mad at me?" and "why are you sitting alone?" and "david, are you emo?" finally i just turned my phone off.

then i had to go to my other job, the one at sears.  first of all like six people made comments about my hair today which, as you know, i hate.  then some lady asked me if we carried mens over-alls and i told her we didn't and she got mad at me and yelled at me.  of course it's MY fault that a department store doesn't have men's over alls.   then when she was leaving she yelled at me again.  this time she said "what in the hell possessed you to die your hair blue?"  that's the kind of person that annoys me most in this entire world, the kind who thinks everything is their business. i just said "because i wanted to and i can." and then she kept talking and i turned my back on her and walked away but i heard her say "i swear, i am never coming back to this store again."  i wanted to think "yay me!" but instead i just felt bad.  i'm sorry but i'm still not aware that i did anything to make her mad besides work at a store that doesn't carry men's over-alls and have blue hair. 

i don't do so well with the whole "human interaction" thing.  not that it's really important to me that i get along with anyone, in fact sometimes i prefer it if i wasn't getting along with people so they will leave me alone.  it just suck that there are a few people who's paths i HAVE to cross.  or, they feel the need to cross mine. 

i bought the book "the secret" at wal-mart, and according to that book, "thoughts become things."  one part in the book says that if you dwell on how badly people treated you, it's like saying "i like it when people treat me badly and i want more people to treat me badly."  so when i was in the car on the way home from work i really tried to think "i want people to be good to me" because the book says if you think that, it will happen.

but i just WANTED to think about everything that happened to me today.  like, i wanted to really bad.  so i did.  i think it helped.  i guess i really don't believe what the book says.  i believe, that if i can think about the way people have treated me today i can sort out which parts of it were caused by me (even though i didn't think i did anything wrong) and which parts of it were caused by the stupidity of other people. 

like, even though i know i couldn't have done anything differently today because it's already night and the day is over, if i think about what's happened for a long time i can say " now i know not to do that again." like now i know that i should remember to open all the doors, and be agreeable to people, and just be patient with the lunch lady even though she doesn't deserve it, and stop caring what my freinds think because i obviously don't like them that much most of the time anyway, and now that i think 0f it, i SHOULD have thought "yay me!" when i turned my back on that lady in sears earlier today because she was rude to me even though i was nice to her. 

i'll think it now.

The Christian lady keeps her finger nails clean and presented by removing scuffed and worn nail polish.

EXPLAINING MY BLOG TITLE

I am sick of women who are no longer girls still being called girls.

Boys when they get older are called guys. This word can be used for males of any age, and it is unconnected with the child word "boy".

We don't have a similar "casual" word to use for women. So instead we use "girls". I have heard one person say the word "gals" serves this purpose: however this word is obviously taken off of the child word "girls" so it is still connecting women with girls. It is also an exclusively American word, we don't use it where I live. 

Why I think women are still called “girls” after we become adults =  females are not supposed to mature. We are more valuable in this society (to men) if we stay young, and sexy/attractive. We are supposed to be a bit sillier, too. Not as intelligent as our husbands, and not as serious. We can (and should) spend a good amount of time making ourselves look "cute" and sexy (for the men). We wear clothes that make us look smaller, we sit "smaller" than men (legs together/crossed), and we generally try to make ourselves look slimmer/littler/petite. Like a girl. So we look good to guys. In contrast, boys are encouraged to "man-up" and become a man quickly, it is good for them to mature. They aren't supposed to continue looking like boys, if they do they will be effeminate men, who are 'less' than real men.

Calling us women "girls" is a way to belittle us, talk down to us, treat us as less important. It is patronising.

We are women. We are ladies. We are adults.

- Using the word "girl" for a girlfriend just plain seems creepy. Along with calling one’s girlfriend "baby". Particularly along with saying, "come to daddy!" (do people ever say that in real life or just on TV? That sounds seriously creepy).

- The sex industry almost always calls it's female workers "girls". I absolutely hate that. I understand that for some bizarre reason "girl" is a sexier term than "woman". But "Ladies" is sexy too, and it shows that the sex worker women are adults, and that they should be respected (not belittled).

IF WE’RE NOT ‘GIRLS’ WHAT ARE WE? WHAT DO WE CALL OURSELVES? = The word "lady" is one possible alternative. The word "lady" used to be used for only upper class white women - and today is still used more for white, well-off women than for non-white or poor women, I think. So using the word "ladies" to refer to all women may be problematic. The word "woman" is better. The only 'problem' with the word "woman" is that it is considered sexless, unsexy, boring, prudish, old, plain, and ugly.  The word "girl" is seen as sexy. But that is creepy to me, that it has to be like that. "Woman" should be considered sexy, not "girl"! We need to change this.

'in the event that a member of a civil partnership becomes a Lord (or indeed a Lady), shouldn't the other member of that partnership be equally recognised?'

I am not quite sure why the question says 'in the event', since as far as I am aware we already have one or more peers in civil partnerships.  I also have the answer to the question.  The solution is logical, but that does not mean it will happen.  Instead of the wives of peers being styled Lady, why not style them - along with the husbands of women peers and the partners in civil partnerships - as 'the Honourable'.  Sons and daughters of peers are so styled, so why not extend it the practice?  It ensures equity.   It also ensures that one identifies the person on whom the honour (Lord, Lady) has actually been bestowed.  I think one would have to accept that existing styles would remain (anyone already styled a Lady would retain the title) and this would apply with future effect. 

Just a thought.   Perhaps more intriguingly, one of the responses to Iain Dale's post asks what would happen if a future heir to the Throne entered into a civil partnership!

UPDATE: Reading the comments on Shane Greer's post, I see one person has had a similar, though not identical, idea.  Perhaps there's mileage in it.

In this kind of situation, I have totally proven that some strangers, really aren't bad:D
