Frank Cadillac/Cris Johnson (Nicolas Cage) è un mago che lavora a Las Vegas e ha davvero un dono: riesce a vedere nel prossimo futuro (due minuti) e ovviamente modificare il proprio comportamento mutando gli avvenimenti, solo nel futuro in cui è coinvolto però. Usa questo potere per poter vincere al gioco senza farsi troppo notare, rubare auto e poi scappare, comunque prevede ciò che la polizia farà per catturarlo ed agire di conseguenza.

Di questa peculiarità viene a conoscenza l'Fbi nei panni dell'Agente Ferris (Julianne Moore): Cris Johnson potrebbe quindi rivelarsi determinante per poter prevedere un attacco terroristico nucleare a Los Angeles.
Nel mezzo della storia capita poi Liz Cooper (Jessica Biel), una ragazza che Cris vede nelle sue visioni e l'unica in grado di farlo "avanzare nella chiaroveggenza" oltre il suo classico limite. Purtroppo anche i terroristi lo conoscono e fan di tutto per eliminarlo. Di più non dico, provate ad indovinare ;)

Onestamente pensavo peggio ma, lasciando la logica fuori dal cinema, il film è anche divertente. In certi momenti sembra un po' troppo un videogame dove il protagonista salva la partita in modo da non morire mai! :) E soprattutto il finale (per conto mio) è insoddisfacente pur avendo a suo modo senso. Senso che invece non c'è nel mostrarci cosa faccia per vivere Liz...va beh!

Diciamo che come tutti i film con paradossi temporali non può essere sezionato fino a spaccare il capello in quattro e quindi va preso con tutte le limitazioni del caso; diciamo che la pellicola è più che sufficiente per passare un'oretta e mezza scorrevole sgranocchiando popcorn. Non ho letto il racconto di Philip K.Dick da cui è tratto ("The golden man") ma immagino che ci fossero molte più metafore e sicuramente un messaggio legato al destino e al diritto alla libertà individuale che nel film è solo sfumato.
Per gli appassionati di Stanley Kubrick c'è una scena apertamente ispirata ad "Arancia Meccanica"...

Es aquí donde vemos lo que es capaz de hacer nuestro amigo Chriss, lo que recien acabo de contar no fue más que una visión...

Los vigilantes al ver a Chriss con el arma asumen que es él quien esta delinquiendo aquí vemos una de las escenas más divertidas, Chriss haciendo uso de sus facultades precognitorias para evadir la seguridad del casino y concluir en una emocionante persecución automovilistica...

Que no lo veian por simple vigilancia, La agente Ferris del Fbi al igual que muchos funcionarios del cuerpo saben sobre la posibilidad de que haya una bomba atomica en Los Angeles y quieren usar las habilidades de nuestro protagonista para detener la terrible amenaza que se cierne sobre la ciudad.

Ahora...

Saben ellos que la habilidad de nuestro amigo solo tiene efecto en los acontecimientos que directamente le afectarán y que de ellos solo se puede anticipar por 2 minutos? y si no lo saben, ¿que harán cuando se enteren?

Excelente pelicula

Por lo menos así me pareció y con mucho gusto me atrevo a verla 3 y 5 veces más, comendia, romance, ciencia-ficción, acción , un gran final, arriesgado a mi parecer porque no a todos les gustará y ya sé de un par de quejas por aquí con respecto a él aunque a mi me pareció muy pero muy bueno, lo suficientemente concluso como para no verse en la necesidad de volver a explicar, despues de todo dicen que a buen entendedor, pocas palabras... Que más quieren que les diga?

Cris Johnson (Nicolas Cage) besitzt die Fähigkeit 2 Minuten in die sich selbst betreffende Zukunft schauen zu können. Als er in einem Casino einen Überfall vereitelt, wird FBI-Agentin Callie Ferris (Julianne Moore) auf ihn aufmerksam und will sich seine Fähigkeiten in dem Fall zu Nutze machen, an dem sie gerade arbeitet: eine Gruppe Terroristen hat vor, eine Atombombe zu zünden - in L.A..

Doch Cris denkt nicht daran, dem FBI zu helfen, sondern blickt in die Zukunft, um den Behörden zu erwischen. Momentan hat er sowieso wichtigeres im Sinn: seit einiger Zeit siehr er eine Frau in einen Diner kommen, was die Zeitspanne von 2 Minuten deutlich überschreitet. Deshalb wartet Cris jeden Tag auf sie, um herauszufinden, weshalb er sie sieht.

Schließlich ist der Tag gekommen, den er schon so oft vor sich gesehen hat und die Frau, Liz Cooper (Jessica Biel), trifft auf Cris Johnson. Sie bietet ihm an, ihn ein Stück mitzunehmen, wobei die beiden sich näher kommen. Gleichzeitig sind den beiden das FBI und auch die Terroristen auf den Fersen: die haben nämlich mitbekommen, dass das Federal Bureau Johnson gegen sie benutzen will...
...

Ein Film mit relativ flacher Story, die die Schauspieler nicht wirklich fordert. Unnötig zu sagen, dass Julianne Moore ihr Talent als FBI-Agentin in Hannibal besser anbringen konnte, als in Next. Passen tut sie trotzdem in die Rolle, was man beim Rest des Casts auch nicht abstreiten kann. Nicolas Cage ist sowieso einer meiner Lieblinge (den Rosen-Trick kann er mir auch gerne mal vorführen... :D ) ;) .

Der Film hat von allen Seiten sehr, sehr viel negative Kritik erhalten, weil er so unrealistisch sei. Ja, er ist unrealistisch, aber na und? Wenn man sich von vorneherein auf einen No-Brainer einstellt, wird man hier nicht enttäuscht, im Gegenteil: die Action und die Explosionen können sich sehen lassen.

Die Zeitsprünge sind hier ein wichtiges Mittel und ich finde, dass sie ihren Zweck sehr gut erfüllen, dem Spannungsaufbau hinreichend dienen und das ganze interessant machen. Die beste Szene des Films ist für mich die Verfolgung im Casino ganz am Anfang des Film - ein gelungener Einstieg, bei dem auch die Kameraführung überzeugen kann.

An den Score kann ich mich im Nachhinein gar nicht mehr so genau erinnern, unpassend fand ich ihn aber auch nicht; das wüsste ich noch.

Wie die Story wirken auch ein paar CGI eher unrealistisch (die Kutschen, Baunstämme usw., die den Hügel runterfallen), was mich aber nicht so sonderlich gestört hat.

Insgesamt also beim besten Willen keine Sternstunde von Nicolas Cage, der allgemein so schlecht ausgefallenen Kritik kann ich mich aber nicht anschließen, denn der Film unterhält und erreicht damit sein Hauptziel.

7/10 Punkten

Den Film sollte man im O-Ton gucken, denn die Terroristen reden Englisch, Deutsch und Französisch.

The Sun-Sentinel points out most of ladies have moved on, noting that: "Nowadays most of these gals are way past their old Yankee flame. Case in point: Johansson and actor Ryan Reynolds announced their engagement Monday (and Johansson showed off her rock of a ring that night at the Costume Institute gala), Alba is pregnant with fiance Cash Warren's baby, Carey just tied the knot with singer Nick Cannon."

Spring is in the air, and everyone in Hollywood knows what that means. The birds begin chirping, the blockbuster marques line the avenue like fluorescent flowers, and lead actors and actresses aren’t the only ones in mating mode. Oh yes, and out from the sunny haze emerges this year’s MTV Movie Award nominees.

That’s right, on June 1, 2008, the main authority on all things pop-culture-related will unleash its fury on the movie industry. The 17th Annual MTV Movie Awards, which will be hosted by Mike Myers of the upcoming comedic deadweight The Love Guru, sets unlikely stars against each other in categories including Best Movie, Breakthrough Performance, Best Comedic Performance, Best Fight and every wistful teen’s favorite, Best Kiss. This year’s MTV Movie Awards also dons the ceremony’s newest category: Best Summer Movie So Far. (Click here for a full list of the nominees.)

Where else can viewers see Topher Grace and Angelina Jolie go head-to-head with fellow Best Villain nominee Javier Bardem? Hell, what other award show this year will even acknowledge the release of Step Up 2 The Street? Yes, the 17th Annual MTV Movie Awards has a little slice of springtime cheer to serve to even the most undeserving of candidates. And, since the show apparently is what producer Mark Burnett calls "the most relevant movie award show in America today," isn’t that MTV’s civic duty?

Among the nominees, at least one star definitely shines in a deserving light. Michael Cera, who first captured my attention as George Michael on TV’s Arrested Development, is nominated for a slew of awards including Best Male Performance, Best Kiss and Breakthrough Performance. Cera, who had a resounding year with the Blockbuster smashes Superbad and Juno, is the perfect embodiment of a young actor with a promising future. His post-adolescent charm and onscreen awkwardness is delivered in such a way that even those of us seven years out of high school must sit up, take notice and, yes, even swoon a little. (As a bonus to Cera fans, pal Clark Duke of Cera’s brilliant Internet show, Clark and Michael, makes a brief cameo in Superbad.)

One main category that I’m still trying to wrap my mind around is the baffling Best Summer Movie So Far, in which only one of the five candidate films (Iron Man) has even premiered in theaters. Granted, they will have all begun their presumably long theatrical runs by the time this award show airs; however, most movie goers still will not have had the chance to see all of them. And, since these films have all been nominated without being watched in their complete form, I will choose a winner based on having seen none of them. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls, you win with Speed Racer nipping tightly at your middle-aged heels! Congratulations, Harrison Ford! Please enjoy your second, irrelevant gold trophy shaped like a popcorn bucket!

And Jessica Biel, don’t think I’ve forgotten about you! The actress most notable for dating Justin Timberlake (also of this summer’s The Love Guru), is nominated for her role as a psychiatrist in the wild romp through faux homosexuality, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. That’s right; this is the film in which she unintentionally seduces Adam Sandler, who is posing as a man in a gay relationship. According to this clip, the seduction starts innocently enough with Biel stripping down to her underwear in front of Sandler and then asking him to grab her breasts to ensure their sheer silicon-less-ness. Yes, this is a scene in which I am intimately familiar. You see, I live with my gay roommate, Robby, and I cannot get him to stop cupping my breasts! Robby, hands down, I’m trying to write.

So, whatever you're doing this spring, I don’t really care. I know what I’ll be doing: sitting at my computer, repeatedly voting for Jessica Biel’s best actress nod. Lightning, after all, doesn’t strike twice.

Now if you could just cup my left breast a little more lightly, Robby.
