Yesterday a brand new trailer for the next installment in the Street Fighter series was released. This trailer shows off some jaw dropping new gameplay mixed with anime cutscenes. Street Fighter IV has been widely praised since its release into arcades a few months ago, and now it moves towards a full console release. I for one am very excited to play this game. It just looks so awesome, how can you not want to play it. To catch the full trailer from the Tokyo Game Show, click below.

Namma matterukku varuvom . The Start of IV itself was great . I mean we were supposed to get off the trainby 2 am in Ernakulam. Then we went to Munnar by Bus which was booked previously . Enough stories , well get into serious Industry Business.

First Day was fully Munnar Sight Seeing . We covered two industries .

1. 4 goats & Lots of Grass Inc.

This was a flourishing industry in that area. Sema Crowd. It was 'built' on top of a hill. We had to pay an entry fee of Rs. 25 to see 4 goats and walk uphill for about a mile . Ya i almost forgot about the special extra charge which Thanu paid for his camera . Very informative . This Industry answered many of the questions which were puzzling us right from childhood viz. What goats eat for breakfast ? How do goats look like ? and such High IQ things . To cap it off we drank a Pineapple Juice there which was prepared using just the crushing action of Human Hands . No juicers , No filters . The worst which can ever be made .

2. Just-Another-Stupid-Dam(n) Industry.

The Bus stopped somewhere and i really thought it was a breakdown. I was wrong . There lied an industry which was feared to be the greatest in Munnar . It was a Dam . Water-Stupid Photos-Trying to see girls inside approaching cars-Walk our leg off to a 'Viewpoint'-Elachi Tea 8 Rupeees-Back to Bus . It was very interesting as you can see . We had the times of our lives.

3. Garden-of-Laden CampFire Goods.

People say Ooty Botanical garden is the best in India . Atleast South India . They are soo wrong . This modern Munnar garden-like place was featured on the "1000 places you should aviod seeing in your lifetime" survey . Ya, there were 12 varieties of grass and supposed-to-be fountain . And wild flowers which grow on their own alongside NH 47 . Place to be noted down by botanists .

Next Bill , Camp Fire. 25 Rupees each. I mean it was worthy . 25 x 66 = 1650 Rupees . Come on guys One litre Kerosene+5 and half wooden sticks+Cheetah Match Box+ Bose BL2067 Speaker Systems what do you guys expect huh ? 25 was very cheap actually . Could have easily costed the park more than 5000 rupees . People were dancing around the fire . Some on their own . Some induced by Romanovs . And i fell into the category of some who were trying to dance. Actually enjoyed it (Real this time. No sarcasm) . Besides dancing, seeing pros dance was a real sight . I mean Gokul was at his best . Nitin-Samaya moves were beyond Godlike .  Bottomline Fun .

Day 2 Started with an Aappam in Hotel Mezban for me, Sivagami and Jegan.

4. Thirunelveli Speed Boats & Co.

If Campfire was the fun moment of day one , it has to be Speed Boat for day two . Coz Speed Boating was the only thing we did on day two . 300 bucks for 5 . Reasonable . Worthy . We got a driver who is supposed to be the Speed-Junkie there . Thirunelveli aalu . Boat a enna valai valachaaru . Really enjoyed it . Oru kaila boat a ottittu innoru kalia camera vaangi photo vera eduthaaru . When asked to overtake the girls boat which went in front of us he said , "Ada viduppa, potta pullainga " . Chance illa .

5. 'Kaalamellam Nari Vazhga' Sound Services.

Next Stop. Echo Point. We tried shouting out names and made all sorts of funny noises . And i have to admit some sounds really echoed :-P . Anyways echo point wasnt really all about echoing . They had pedal boats. I repeat , pedal boats . Pedal Boats which looked rusted due to very less usage . No body seemed to go out boating . Then one pair bravely took the challenge . It was Shanketh and Logesh . Then many ppl seemed to start taking out boats like Samaya-Revathi etc. But the one boat that made all difference was Nari-[ ]-[ ] . It started ripples not only in water but also inside many guys who were simply sitting and eating roasted cashewnuts till then. Nitin-Rohith went after them on a hot pursuit. Seriously if Men's Pedal Boating were an olympic event like Double Sculls Nitin-Rohit would have already wore their Gold medals to college. Nari raised a fair income to the troubled boat owners association that day.

We were supposed to stay in Munnar that night and leave for cochin the next day . But the place where we stayed (Munnar Tourist Home) tried to move us out by force. So we set off to cochin after lunch that day.

And dont you see the post is fairly big now itself . So ill write the cochin experience on the next post.

The organisers of this IV were Vinod alias ( undertaker music in the bkgd ) The Bun alias *censored-stuff*,  Nitin ( who, as the song goes, tried so hard and got so close :P ), Anand Balaji and Madan. Full credit to them for organizing an IV at the last minute!

Munnar

Our first stop was at Munnar. Warnings from everywhere had come in that it was gonna-rain-cats-and-dogs-dont-go. Despite all that, it was great weather at Munnar :) One funny thing about Munnar - they seemed to have abolished any names for places - The shops all had names like Pharmacy, Hotel, Brandy Shop, etc. I kid u not :P

Most of our Munnar trip was spent in walking, walking and then walking some more. The highlight of our frustration was when we were asked to walk to a viewpoint, which as the adage goes, was "right around the corner". Well, we walked and walked and finally after 1 hour of trudging we finally came to the "viewpoint" : A tea stall with a board near it that said 'viewpoint'. Sweet isn't it :) And to top it all, while we were hiking up the hill, The Bun came and went by auto. For free. Talk about icing on the cake. Or fuel in the fire. :)

Munnar had 2 good things - one was the Saravana Bhavan restaurant. We had all our breakfasts there. The second thing was the boating :) We went on a motor boat for a 15 min trip. Our boat driver was a great guy, who swerved and curved the boat on demand, and while the boat was doing an 90 curve, took our photo, with one hand and using 2 fingers :) Poor rep though, he was shivering and cowering while we stood up and took all the photos :) 

We also went to Echo point where we had fun shouting stuff and hearing light echos. But the highlight of the visit there was the boating - which 2 people made full use of :) One was Logesh, who dragged off Shanketh with him on a trip where they often stopped the boat near the coastline and took pictures :) The other was our very own Nari, who went off pedaling with his best friend ( not Nitin ). Now Nitin cudnt quite take it when their boat disappeared behind a hill and along with Rohith, went off to drag Nari back to this world :) While we waited with bated breath, Nitin's boat also disappeared behind the hill. Finally, with our guide yelling, both boats returned to the shore :) 

Cochin

We stayed at Cochin for the rest of the trip. The hotel needs special mention. Like in one Karthick film, "hotel maari irukum, aana hotel illa". It was supposedly three star. One wonders how much bribes those stars took. The "hotel" is built plum in the middle of a residential area. The road to the "hotel" is so narrow buses cant pass through it and only one van can. It is supposed to be "water-front" but the water-front looks like a dirty ill maintained river. Poor Bun got misleaded by the fancy pictures in the catalogue. The hotel's lift was comical. The corridors were so narrow, I doubt if Venky and Logesh would have fitted there side by side. 

The management have done a good job of keeping up appearances though - there were Emus, turkeys and other exotic birds to keep the poor guest sufficiently distracted. We took some good photos in the lawn, over by the pool and near the birds, brightly capturing the "Do not use flash here.It will frighten the birds" card with a flash.

It was in Cochin that I first saw Exclusively non vegetarian hotels. The veggie part of our batch had a tough time legging it in the sun trying to find a restaurant that served veg food. And the people of Cochin must all suffer from Diabetes I think. Once when we ordered Coffee at a restaurant, we found it very bland. Conv with waiter follows:

The Bun looks at waiter, waiter looks at The Bun. Veins stand out on The Bun's head. His (apparently adorable) cheeks go red.

Others tell us they had similar experiences. We empathize :)

Vegaland

The first time we went there - "Vegalanda suthi pathom". Literally. We cudnt penetrate the human masses and enter the park. So we went off disappointed ( and dirty, since we hadn't bathed in anticipation of vegaland ). The day was not fully wasted though, since we hit the beach. Nari nool vitutu irunthan ( cha, I meant kites, dirty mind, dirty mind ). Poor Srivats had a small accident which garnered huge mass attention. Seriously, if that event were a televsion show, he would have garnered impressive TRPs :). Thinking back, maybe it was the way the four of us carried him from the water to the beach - one guy holding each limb :P

The next day, we actually got into Vegaland :) We really enjoyed the Wave pool, going for multiple times and touching the deep end of the pool during the waves. I still remember something Glamour said to Raghuram : " Un mela nambikai irukanum da. Avlo thaan". After that you should have seen Raghu. Practically dancing in the water. After that, Raghu was constantly taking photos of Glamour. Life long fan :P

Speaking of photos, Jegan went crazy this IV. The poor pappu like guy was totally overboard on a certain serial which I will not name here for fear of spreading it :) The source of all this trouble is, of course, Buu. Seeing Buu, Jegan saw 174 episodes of that serial in one go. No points for guessing what happened :) The guy took around 500 photos in one morning - from the plants to the shop keeper to random dudes who posed for him. :)

There was this one ride in Vegaland called Twin Flip Monster. True to its name, it flipped in all the axes while flipping the arm holding you in all the axes. If you dont get that, understand this : You will be rotating round and round, while you are hanging upside down :) Anyway, the Snake and I first went on this ride. Snake closed his eyes at start of ride. I kept mine wide open :) In the middle of spinning upside down, Snake to me: "Vijay, irukiya?" :P. I loved the ride and immediately went again, this time with Fraud. This time it was even more funny - Spinning upside down, eyes closed, Fraud showing the finger in both hands and shouting "F**K you!" :P

Other than that, we had all the usual fun - Dumb C ( Three words. Middle word. Inviting action. Come.. Came. Rohith: Along came Polly! :P ) and Anthakshari. We also celebrated three birthdays and seizing the occassion, several guys danced with their pairs. Highlights among that was The Bun, whose cheeks were so adorable, 2 gals danced with him for that :) So all-in-all, the last college IV definitely gets a thumbs-up :)

"Okay, so... GBS.
IV Antibiotics are NOT needed. There is another option.
I live in Nelson BC... home births are very popular here.
(Some) Midwives here are very open to trying new things that fall somewhat outside of the normal regulations. Mine was one of these supportive midwives.
When I tested positive for GBS I said no way to the IV and told her I was still going to go ahead with a normal drug free home birth.
I went home and immediately did some research and I found a German study... This study showed that 90-some-odd % of pregnant women who tested positive for GBS who washed their vagina out with a certain antiseptic solution had negative results 2 weeks after the first wash.
I went to my midwife and let her know what I had read and asked her to look into it before I went ahead and put some random solution inside my vagina.
She talked to all of the midwives she knew in the Kootenay BC region and found one midwife in Creston BC who use this method as an alternative to antibiotic IV drugs. The midwife from Creston told her how exactly to use the wash and my midwife did some research herself to confirm the exact method used in the study.
After I did the wash 3 times I waited a week and a did another GBS swab and it came back negative. She has since recommended it to all of the Mommas she works with (who have a positive swab).
The solution can be found in any drug store,
Chlorhexidine Gluconate 2% (if you can only find 4% or another strength then just do the math and dilute accordingly)
I assume it must be sold under different brand names the one that we have up here is called Rougier Vap and it is a pink liquid.
It is an 'antiseptic and medicated cleanser'.
What I was told to do is mix 10ml of the solution with 100ml of pure water. I filled a syringe, and inserted it-not deep-and used it as a wash, some inside and some outside. (use the entire mixture for each wash) You could also sit in the bath and pour it on slowly and use your finger to get it inside. (The syringe was not exactly comfortable) I did this 3 times, two days between each wash.
Everyone else I know that has used this has had a negative result with their second GBS swab."

"They've actually studied the use of chlorhexidine as a vaginal disinfectant during labour. Now, they didn't study it during the prenatal period, so I'm not certain of whether the results apply, but I will point out that while they discovered it reduced colonization in the baby, it still didn't reduce the incidence of early-onset GBS disease in babies. We've also got evidence that suggests that treating GBS prior to labour isn't particularly effective either. Just another opinion."

The OPer said she also did the douche in early labor, which might be a solution to the PP.

I went to the Health Center to find out that they could do nothing for me. The funny thing was when the "doctor" pressed on my stomach I let out a loud, repulsive, yet satisfying fart. The doctor then told me to go to the hospital for a possible appendicitis and to go to Tampa General because they have the best E.R. in the area.

My wonderful girlfriend Paige Williams tells me she would take me and stay with me as long as I help her study in the waiting room. She went on to tell me that I was a big baby and overreacting. I tell her that it is a good thing we are by the E.R. because I was going to give her a reason to go. She did not find humor in that comment and hit me in the appendix. (I'm not abusive, so don't send any angry e-mails, jerks.)

I arrive at Tampa General at 2 p.m. I get called in for screening by a man named Moses. Moses is from Rwanda and then moved to India, so he had a crazy accent. He was definitely refreshing because he loved his job and it showed by his upbeat personality and great sense of humor.

Anyways I guess they give you a rating from 1-5 depending on how severe your injury is. My advice to you: LIE like crazy and get that 1. He asked me on a scale 1-10 how much it hurt, and I told him an 8. Eight is a good number, definitely high, and I didn't want to look like a wimp and say a 10, but I should have because he gave me a rating of 3, which meant hours upon hours of waiting.

Around 4:30 I get called in for a blood test. The guy who drew blood from me looks like he would sell it in the back alley as soon as he took it. He had tattoos, long hair, and bloodshot eyes, but this surprisingly gave me comfort because he was probably good with needles. After the blood test, I had to take a urine test. Those are always so awkward because I always find a way to pee on my hand.

After those two test I get to spend the next four hours bonding with Paige in the waiting room. As much as I love spending time with her, a hospital waiting room is not the most romantic spot. However, it is definitely interesting, and a great people watching spot, even better than Busch Gardens. Paige provided the humor when she told me, "Jon, don't you think there are a lot of," her voice changing to a whisper, "'unfortunate' looking people here?"

Now I want to apologize in advance to the good doctors out there for what is to follow. I think Tampa General is named that because the requirements to work there are a general degree. I had to get an X-Ray and an Ultrasound, and the people administering the test struggled to speak English.

After all of these tests, I was told that nothing is wrong with me and that I should just take it easy. I thought to myself, after all the time I have spent here, I am finding a reason to my constant indigestion and stabbing sensation in my side and I tell the guy that he better find out why. Therefore they tell me they are going to do a CAT scan.

I don't know if you have ever drank the crap they fill in the cup but it is attrocious. The best part of this process was that 30 minutes later I have do another drink, but they forgot about me! So 40 minutes later, I decide to take matter in my own hands and go through the pre-screening room like I owned the place. This approach was actually successful as I got the drink right away, but I could tell that they were annoyed by me, but who cares, I am the most important person there.

As I stated before, the hospital is an awesome people watching spot, but "awesome" doesn't do it justice, it is amazing! During the next 30 minute wait, I got to meet 3 very interesting people. One guy named Sammy, who recently had a heart attack and was released two days ago. He came in because he complications breathing, and he was furious that he has been there since five and have not seen a doctor. I told him to join the club.

He was more "assertive" than me and decided to take let's say "a less tactful" approach. He told the nurses and receptionist that he "needed a "F***ing doctor and I'm going to burn this place down if I don't see one immediately!" Surprisingly, he wasn't arrested and got brought into the back where the doctors. Here I was feeling bad for him not being able to breathe, and he has the breath to scream... faker.

I also got to see a 2nd degree burn victim. I don't know if he lacked common sense, or just not smart, but he sprayed gasoline on a fire and caught his leg on fire. What was he thinking? I decided if I didn't ask him that I wouldn't be able to sleep so I did. I found out he was from Ruskin, so I didn't need to ask any further questions, because Ruskin is so redneck that it explained everything... including the missing front tooth.

One thing I forgot to mention is that when I was getting an IV, Moses injected Morphine into me. I now understand the mind of a junkie, it was phonomenal. So when I was back getting my third drink I asked if I could get some more morphine. This caught the attention of a police officer standing outside a curtain. I peeked inside the curtain (remember I own the place) and saw a man with cuffs around his legs and hands. AWESOME!

I decide to poke fun, and said, "Broken leg?"
Convict: "No, why would you say that?"
Me: "Well you obviously weren't fast enough."
Convict: "F... You"
Me: "Don't drop the soap."  Too far? Maybe. But there is no way I could let him get the last word.

Finally I got the CAT scan. Before I went into the machine, they injected another drug into my IV. It made me so warm and I stopped breathing. I did not like this drug and told the man he almost killed me. He did not find humor in this joke either... I guess you can't joke about death in the hospital.

Midnight rolls around and before I know it the clock strikes 1:30. I have been here for 11.5 hours. Paige is sound asleep on my shoulder as I watch Sports Center. I look at my insurance card and find out that the copay for a hospital is 50 dollars, but if I get admitted it was free. New goal.

I decide to act like my pain is getting worse and worse. So I go up to the receptionist buckled over. I tell them that I have been here since 2:00 I still don't have a room and I feel like I have an alien inside that I am going to give birth to. They couldn't believe that I have been here for 11.5 hours and that they would get me a bed as soon as possible. This makes me happy.

However, instead of a bed, I get a 5 foot 5 chinease man with a white coat. He tells me to sit down and immediatley I think bad news. He just shook my hand and handed me my release papers and tells me "good luck" and walked out. He didn't even give me a diagnosis and I become infuriated.

"I have been here for 12 (bad word) hours, been through an X-Ray, an ultrasound and I am not a pregnant lady so why do I need a stupid ultrasound. I came here for my appendix and I didn't even get an appendix test til 7 hours after I got here. I am puking up battery acid, my stomach feels like its being stabbed, and you tell me to go home? No, no, no. I am not leaving until you tell me what is wrong."

He pulls out his stethascope and tells me to breathe. He says he will be right back. I guess 20 minutes later is a "be right back" in his world, but not in mine. I go to the nurse, and say where is my doctor, and I think she is fed up by me just walking around by this time because she told me to sit down and be quiet. This did not fly with me either.

"What do you mean, sit down and shut up. Did they teach you how to speak to patients at your tech school? Obviously not, because they didn't teach you how to tell time because you were late with my 30 minute drink. How hard is that? You know what, you can do me a favor and put more of that morphine in my IV and then I will sit down and shut up."

That didn't sit well with her. Basically what I got out of it was that she went to some prestigious school for nursing and went on to tell me about my character flaws. I tried to add humor by saying "I like your moves". She just rolled her eyes and walked away. I got owned.

The doctor never came back, and I went up to Ms. Prestigious Nurse with my tail tucked between my legs. I apologized for being an ass and that I was just on edge because of the wait. She understood and told me the doctor came back 15 minutes ago with my medicine scripts, but she wanted me to apologize first, and that I was free to go. She is good.

The dismissal nurse was nice until she told me that I couldn't drink beer or eat fatty foods for a month. I went on to tell her that was what my diet consisted of and she laughed and said "no wonder why you are here."

On the way home, I realized I have not eaten anything today and that I had to stop somewhere to go. All the healthy places were closed, so I got 2 quarter pounders from McDonalds and when I got home, I had nothing but Budweiser in the fridge. Oh well, I guess my diet starts tomorrow.

To do the CT, the technician has to start an IV so they can put a dye into her veins for them to show up on the scan. Baby Girl is normally very brave and has never cried when this has happened, until yesterday.

I watched the technician take her arm in her hands and "feel" for a good vein. I guess she was looking for something spongy. She found one and then proceeded to punch the needle almost two inches from the vein she felt! She was digging around, finally found the vein after inserting the needle all the way into BG's arm. Then she started putting saline in and tried to pull it back out. No blood came out. She had missed the vein again. So, instead of pulling it out, she went back to digging through the arm!

Finally after BG started to whimper she pulled the needle out and decided to get someone else. In comes a one-eyed phlobotemist. The other eye was glass.... we have had her before and she was just as bad as the first one.

Baby Girl looked at me and mouthed the words "Help Me!" and I asked the tech to get someone else. She tried but no one else was available. Ms. One Eye was on her way. This time she was better and only dug in BG's other arm for a minute before finding the vein. They sent us into the waiting room where BG was pale and began to sob into my shoulder. I felt completly helpless. My heart broke into little peices.

We go on October 21 for the results. I will keep you posted.

We've learned that, in India, Intellectual Ventures has set up base in Bangalore with a 10 people staff. The India operations are headed by Monish Suvarna, GM, Intellectual Ventures.

Sources have determined that IV has entered into an agreement to buy patents from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and plans to tie up with IIT Madras and other such institutes.

IV has been very busy over there...

Para quem não entendeu esse mod, ele é um "god mode", ou seja, seu carro fica invencível e coisa e tal...

However, I was blown away. The people who attended - jornalists, independent filmmakers, producers, photographers, multimedia and publishing entrepreneurs, etc - had fascinating lives and ideas on how to productively improve the use of the media as an agent of positive change in the world. In the upcoming posts, I'll try to share with you some of the projects I've seen.

It's my belief that we can really do this. We can really believe that change is possible, if we have the courage to implement our ideas. Sustainable development is possible. Ethical behavior in the marketplace is possible. Environmental consciousness is possible. If we think we're alone in this, of course we won't see the larger picture and therefore be scared to move forward. What I was strucken by in this Summit is the passion and belief of some many individuals. If we can share and heighten those beliefs among our friends and co-workers, little by little we can change the mindset of the workplace and the ideals we sustain.

This is greater than us. I believe we have a responsability, as media professionals, to strive for those principles we so much care for. I'm in it.
