Interpol General Assembly opens in Russia

– Interpol’s 77th General Assembly opened on October 7 in Russia ’s city of Saint Petersburg with the participation of more than 700 law enforcement delegates and security experts from 153 member countries.

The Vietnamese delegation is led by Senior Lieutenant-General Le The Tiem, Deputy Minister of Public Security.

The four-day meeting will focus on enhancing Interpol’s investigative and operational capacities as well as the technical capacities of member countries’ police forces and National Central Bureaus (NCBs) to strengthen the ability of frontline police to fight transnational crime, in particular terrorism, online child abuse, drugs and cyber-crime, and enhance co-operation on fugitive investigations.

It will also seek to confirm Interpol’s role as a model for sustainable law enforcement capabilities by adopting its Global Security Initiative (GSI) as a platform for integrated 21st century global policing through strategic partnerships.

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin addressed the opening of the General Assembly and called on participants to work together to counter ongoing threats facing nations around the world.-

Latest Suicide attack in Jirga ( local gathering ) kills at least 48 in Tribal Area of Pakistan. The militants are increasing their attacks as a pre-emptive measure because they think that the Pakistan army and NATO are about to take them on in a bigger way," Farrukh Saleem said:

The latest suicide attack targeted the lashkar movement in the Orakzai part of the tribal area. Some 600 members of the Alizai tribe had gathered in a traditional open-air meeting called a Jirga when the bomber struck. Local television reports put the death toll at more than 50. Witnesses said that an explosive-laden car drove into the middle of the meeting. Separately, two rockets fired by suspected militants hit the city of Kohat, which is near Orakzai, injuring at least six.

Hospitals were overwhelmed by the number of victims, many said to be critically injured. According to officials in Orakzai, the meeting was completing the formation of a militia, and the tribesmen planned to demolish the local Taliban headquarters immediately afterward.

The military has been fighting extremists in the Swat valley, in the northwest, for almost a year without defeating them. It was the start of another military operation in August this year, in the Bajaur part of the tribal belt, that inspired a local tribe to rise up to tackle the Taliban themselves, which has spawned a rapidly growing movement. Lashkars have proved to be effective, as they're familiar with the terrain, often know the militants they're fighting and limit collateral damage.

Pakistani nation have now step forward in favor of Pakistani Armed forces and providing their full support to combat the powers of terrorists, those are active in few tribal arrears of Pakistan. We can see that civilians are fully aware and can be seen in open discussions saying:

“It‘s Our War and not the war of USA”.

Therefore, the war against terra is now a war for the best interest of Pakistan and it’s security, We must be united more than the past and should fight against the Terrorists.

VATICANO: ADESIONE ALL'INTERPOL, CHE COSA CAMBIA?

(ASCA) - Citta' del Vaticano, 7 ott - L'accesso ad una banca mondiale dei terroristi per uno ''screening' piu' efficace degli ingressi ai Musei Vaticani o in piazza San Pietro; ma anche un database delle opere d'arte rubate di tutto il mondo, grazie al quale Vaticano potra' collaborare attivamente al ritrovamento dei tesori trafugati nelle chiese: sono alcune delle possibilita' che si aprono con l'adesione della Citta' del Vaticano all'Interpol. A spiegarlo all'ASCA e' Roraima Andriani, capo di gabinetto del Segretario Generale dell'Organizzazione internazionale di polizia criminale, Ronald K. Noble.

Il fatto che l'adesione del Vaticano sia stata votata oggi, per la prima volta nella storia, all'unanimita' dall'assemblea dei 186 Paesi membri dell'Interpol (tra cui sono naturalmente moltissimi quelli musulmani e non-cristiani), e' il segno, spiega Andriani, che la ''lotta al crimine prescinde da fattori religiosi o geopolitica''.

Quella della Gendarmeria vaticana, il corpo di polizia dello Stato della Citta' del Vaticano, sara' un'adesione in buona parte ''simbolica'', come ha spiegato oggi il segretario generale del Governatorato, mons. Renato Boccardo, che ha guidato la delegazione vaticana in Russia; ma non soltanto.

Infatti, gia' da oggi l'ufficio Interpol della Gendarmeria, guidato dal colonnello Costanzo Alessandrini, potra' avere accesso al sistema ''I 24/7'' dell'Interpol, che consente la comunicazione in tempo reale e lo scambio di informazioni come identikit e impronte digitali con le polizie degli altri 186 Paesi membri.

''Ma non c'e' solo questo - spiega Andriani -. Il Vaticano avra' accesso alle banche dati mondiali dell'Interpol, alle quali potra' naturalmente contribuire: quella con i nomi dei criminali, quella dei ricercati per terrorismo, che e' molto cresciuta negli ultimi anni e comprende circa 10-11mila nominativi, quella delle auto rubate, del Dna, dei passaporti e documenti di viaggio rubati; e anche a quello delle opere d'arte rubate, alle quali il Vaticano e' particolarmente interessate: infatti, anche se non tutte i quadri e le opere trafugate dalle chiese sono di proprieta' del Vaticano, quest'ultimo e' sicuramente interessato a dare una mano attivamente per il loro ritrovamento''.

Per la Andriani, l'accesso a queste informazioni permettera' al Vaticano, se lo vorra', di attivare uno screening, come avviene in alcuni aeroporti, dei milioni di visitatori che accedono ogni anno ai Musei Vaticani e alle cerimonie papali in Piazza San Pietro. ''Inoltre - aggiunge - permettera' di programmare al meglio le difese e l'organizzazione dei viaggi papali''.

Ma quella del Vaticano e' un'adesione che va al di la' delle ragioni della sola sicurezza: ''E' importante - ha proseguito la Andriani - che mons. Boccardo abbia elogiato i motivi di solidarieta' sociale, nel rispetto delle rispettive legislazioni e nello spirito della ''Dichiarazione Universale dei Diritti dell'uomo', contenuti nello Statuto dell'Interpol. E' importante che ci si concentri su questo, sull'importanza del combattere il crimine ogni giorno, proprio in un momento in cui si tende a risolvere i conflitti con le guerre''.

Ma c'e' anche chi teme una diminuzione della tradizionale segretezza e impenetrabilita' vaticana con l'integrazione nel sistema internazionale dell'Interpol: ''La partecipazione all'Interpol e' volontaria - risponde la Andriani - non c'e' nessun obbligo di scambio di informazioni, che e' pero' naturalmente in tutto l'interesse dei Paesi membri''.

''Apprezzo - conclude - l'apertura dello Stato della Citta' del Vaticano perche' c'e' la consapevolezza che i tempi sono cambiati ed e' necessaria la collaborazione con organizzazioni laiche e internazionali come la nostra''.

Dramma fra connazionali: una giovane polacca segregata per anni da un suo coetano. Nella irruzione ritrovato anche un piccolo bambino. Negli abusi, il carnefice era solito filmare le sue azioni. Nessun violenza sul bimbo. Sotto sequestro 4 hard disk

Manfredonia - Contrada Scròfola, Masseria Fonte del Pesce, podere numero 11 del o.p. De Piccolellis. Casolari introvabili, perduti nelle fitte selve delle terre del Tavoliere. Dopo numerose indagini la polizia giudiziaria porta, nuovamente, alla luce una storia di abusi, rigorosamente, fra connazionali della polonia occidentale. Ieri, diretti dal dirigente Antonio Lauriola, gli agenti del locale commissariato hanno infatti arrestato Sylvester Kopiczko, un polacco di ventinove anni, residente nel centro di Mezzanone, in contrada ‘La Scrofola. L'uomo è accusato di sequestro di persona, violenza sessuale, circostanze aggravanti, riduzione in schiavitù, ma anche resistenza, minaccie, violenza e lesioni a pubblico ufficiale. La storia: dopo segnalazioni dell'Interpool polacco, (a cui la madre della donna ha consegnato l'sms mandatogli in segno di aiuto ndR) gli organi italiani dispongono degli accertamenti su una polacca di 28 anni, S.B., segnalata, in zona, quale presunta vittima di sequestro di persona. Durante le indagini nell'area, alla ricerca di un "non precisato podere" (l'area ne è piena a causa delle diverse sigle dei poderi, assegnati in passato da Enti di Riforma, Consorzi di Bonifica ed ex O.n.c. di provenienza mussoliniana ndR), gli agenti trovano la ragazza in un casolare, segregata dall'arrestato. Fatta irruzione nell'alloggio, gli agenti ritrovano anche un piccolo bambino: frutto delle violenze patite, per anni, dalla giovane donna. Arrestato l'aguzzino la vittima comincia a parlare, descrivendo gli anni di percosse e maltrattamenti subiti. Racconto confermato anche da una amica della donna. Kopiczko teneva segregata la ragazza in casa anche quando andava al lavoro (in un magazzino di fronte all'abitazione ndR), rinchiudendola con porte e finestre sbarrate. Inutili tutti i tentativi di fuga della vittima. Ulteriori particolari: il carnefice era solito filmare i suoi abusi. Sono attualmente sotto sequestro 4 hard disk di grande capacità, contenenti immagini e video a sfondo pornografico. Dubbi su un possibile commercio del materiale. Non sono state ricoscontrate violenze sul bambino e si pensa che l'uomo abbia agito da solo. Violenta la reazione di Kopiczo dopo l'arresto: calci e pugni agli agenti e accuse di maltrattamenti. Lesioni anche per la giovane polacca (in cura presso un locale nosocomio). Kopiczo è stato condotto nella casa circondiariale di Foggia, la donna ed il bimbo in una struttura protetta e segreta italiana. Segregata in casa e violentata: arrestato giovane polacco

Pestata, schiavizzata, umiliata, stuprata e segregata in casa con il figlioletto di appena un anno. Segni che rimarranno indelebili nella memoria e sul corpo della giovane polacca di 28 anni, sequestrata da un suo connazionale. Il fidanzato-padrone, si chiama Sylvester Kopiczko, di 29enne, arrestato dagli agenti del Commissariato di Polizia di Manfredonia. Pesanti le accuse che pendono sul suo capo: sequestro di persona, violenza sessuale, riduzione in schiavitù, resistenza, minacce, violenza e lesioni a pubblico ufficiale. A scoperchiare il vaso di Pandora un sms che la vittima ha inviato alla mamma, riferendole delle sue condizioni ed il numero civico del casolare dove era tenuta nascosta. La donna ha allertato l'Interpol polacco che, a sua volta, ha segnalato il caso al commissariato di Manfredonia. Difficili le ricerche anche perchè nessuno dei residenti della zona aveva mai visto la ragazza, in Italia, ormai da più di due anni. Nel podere del terrore, situato nelle campagne di Borgo Mezzanone, in località "La Scrofola", la ragazza era costretta a dormire su di una branda in cucina in pessime condizioni igieniche. Con lei il figlio, avuto dall'uomo durante una violenza sessuale, e che lo stesso utilizzava come arma di ricatto. La minacciava, dicendole che se avesse tentato di fuggire avrebbe ucciso il bimbo. Li segregava in casa, serrando porte e finestre. Il bruto, però, fuori dalle mura domestiche era guardiano di un'azienda agricola della zona, un lavoratore perfetto che tutti avrebbero voluto come collaboratore. Ma non è tutto; ieri quando gli agenti di polizia hanno fatto irruzione all'interno del casolare hanno recuperato moltissimi film porno, tra cui alcuni con immagini della donna mentre veniva stuprata dall'uomo. Ritrovate anche fotografie che ritraggono la polacca nuda. Ora il materiale è al vaglio degli inquirenti che stanno cercando di scoprire se l'uomo l'abbia venduto on line, ipotesi avallata dal ritrovamento anche di un personal computer con connessione ad internet.

I just got Sirius satellite radio, and while there are a lot of pretty useless channels I have found one that I have been listening to pretty frequently. It is called Left of Center and they pretty much play everything that I listen to on a daily basis while introducing me to some cool new stuff as well. So far I have heard them play Pinback, The Shins, Islands, Sonic Youth, Vampire Weekend, Radiohead, Bon Iver, The Arcade Fire, Interpol and Ratatat. Not only do they play a lot of great music, but they have some amazing special performances and programs. All of next week, Kings of Leon will co-host the afternoon show, and on Friday, Beck will play his entire new album, Modern Guilt, while throwing in a couple of other songs here and there. Pretty awesome stuff.

Does anyone know of any other Sirius sations worth listening to?

Hmm. Alot of indie junk. I guess I've been listening to alot of Interpol lately. I've never really been an Interpol fan until recently. I guess I like how they express both despair and hope very flatly. Like, they despair, but they are not passionate about it. They just describe it. Similarly, they hope, but they do so without expecting much of anything at all to happen. Jenny Lewis' new album is good. I'm quite impressed with her songwriting. Rilo Kiley is another one of those bands that expresses the very ordinary, unspectacular despair that is made all the more desperate because it is so mundane and universal. All My Friends, LCD Soundsystem, similar kind of feeling. Threads, by Portishead. Pure dread. Of course, none of these New York bands would be around without the Velvet Underground. And you can never go wrong with Radiohead.

"Computerbestanden Farc-topman gemanipuleerd"

De informaticabestanden die door Colombia worden voorgesteld als bewijs dat er banden zijn tussen de Farc-rebellen, Ecuador en Venezuela, zijn "gemanipuleerd en op illegale manier verzameld, wat ze volledig ongeldig maakt". Dat heeft een Ecuadoraanse gerechtelijke bron aan het Franse persbureau AFP gezegd.

Diplomatieke breuk
Het Colombiaanse leger vond de 45 bestanden op de computer van Paul Reyes, de nummer twee van de Farc, nadat het Reyes op 1 maart had gedood bij een operatie op Ecuadoraans grondgebied. De operatie leidde tot een breuk in de diplomatieke relaties tussen Quito en Bogota. Om de legitimiteit van de operatie te bewijzen, maakte Colombia de bestanden over aan Ecuador en Venezuela.

Kopieën
Volgens Santiago Acurio, verantwoordelijke op de informatica-afdeling van het Ecuadoraanse openbaar ministerie, werden de zogenaamde bewijzen gemanipuleerd. Deskundig onderzoek heeft uitgewezen dat de documenten een latere datum bevatten dan 1 maart, dag van de dood van Reyes. Dat bewijst dat het om kopieën gaat en dat de authenticiteit van de documenten niet kan worden gegarandeerd, aldus Acurio.

Geen juridische waarde
Gisteren bracht de Spaanse radio Cadena Ser het bestaan van een rapport aan het licht waarin staat dat "de computer van Reyes werd gemanipuleerd door het Colombiaanse leger". Los van het feit of de inhoud al dan niet gemanipuleerd werd, hebben de door Colombia geleverde bewijzen ook geen juridische waarde, aldus Acurio.

Interpol
Op 15 mei had Interpol wel "de authenticiteit" van de archieven bevestigd. Maar volgens de Ecaduoraanse autoriteiten heeft Interpol er zich niet van vergewist of de computers waarop de archieven stonden, zich wel degelijk in het kampement van Reyes bevonden en aan hem toebehoorden.

Swiss guitarist Nicolas Meier is one of the rising stars of a vibrant British jazz scene, his trademark sound a mixture of Methenyesque jazz and spicy Turkish and world music rhythms. Already well known in Europe, where his Meier Group have
toured extensively and shared the bill with such illustrious names as Elvin Jones, Brad Meldau, Trilok Gurtu and Bill Evans. Meier and his band recently won the enormously prestigious Grand Prize Of The Jury and 1st Prize Jazz Guitar at Jazz

Spawning from an element of confusion and a longing for a bold incorporation of interesting and innovative influences, MidiMids represent a creative surge of creativity orchestrated by two brothers-in-law. Two brothers who enjoy spending far too much time drinking beer and experimenting with retro midi sounds on their old dusty unreliable laptops, GameBoys, GameGears and scuzzy broken guitars.

From an early age, the two have embraced everything from Gary Numan, AC/DC, Howard Jones and Bahuaus, to Nirvana, The Velvet Underground, and Television. MidiMidis create their minimalist fuzzy-buzzy 8-bit music by meticulously weaving the harsh feedback-heavy guitars of Sonic Youth together with the sharp angular work of Talking Heads, Kraftwerk and Human League.

Whether pondering over forgotten thoughts, the ubiquitous subject of relationship breakdowns or pining after a bottle of wine, lead singer Marcus manages to somehow circumvent the bile bitterness that many a songwriter would fall for. He treats these and other dark subjects with a bohemian carelessness and humorous irreverence only to the back drop of feedback laced angular guitars and electro bass and midi bleeps.

In early 2006 two friends Sean Shreeve (Bass) and Jon Hardless (Guitar) began their early careers like most musicians; crafting songs in their bedrooms. Soon the ideals and conventions of a traditional rock band set-up were wearing thin with
the duo and they began to look for new and innovative ways to bring their vision of the way bands should sound to a future generation of listeners. Shreeve and Hardless immediately got to work crafting unconventional musical structures and
electronic beats on their Playstation while layering lyrics, guitar and bass riffs over the top. Although the band was still in a very premature form the duo managed to convince vocalist Jason Mirchandani to come onboard and after scrapping
their Playstation in favour of a laptop the group began hoaning their unique sound. Spectrum 7 were born!

Interpol is releasing their second album sometime in September, I decided to revisit this "memories of San Francisco-revoking" album last night. I remember picking up this album at the Virgin Megastore on Market Street in SF and being very impressed. On what is considered to be one of my many soul-searching sojourns taking place at a beautiful city, I discovered this New York-based band (NYU, no less) during my trip to SF in March 2003 when I was visiting JP and AG. Following much hype and lofty expectations, Interpol has proven themselves to be quite a talented band, producing some very interesting music that is not necessarily inaccessible and obscure. After all, I caught a part of 'Untitled' at the conclusion of a "Friends" episode. All in all, eclectic and moody, Interpol is best enjoyed when not turned up too loudly. When turned up too much, it tends to feel a bit overwhelming and...noisy. That's just my humble opinion.

Hong Kong - A Buddhist monk in Hong Kong has pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography following his arrest after an Interpol-led investigation, a newspaper reported on Wednesday.

Chow Yee Cheong, 41, was arrested in May after police raided his monastery and seized child pornography videos and photographs from a computer hard drive and two video compact discs, the South China Morning Post reported.

Interpol had passed on information to Hong Kong police that Chow had subscribed to a commercial child-abuse website based in Britain, the paper said.

Chow, a Chinese-Malaysian emigrant to Hong Kong, was quoted as saying he had downloaded the illegal materials out of "curiosity and sexual desire".

The monk's defence counsel was quoted as saying Chow had lived a quiet life at the Buddhist monastery, where he was paid for providing counselling services.

The Fucked up Indian Political Class and Defunct Systems

For long I have been waiting to write something about Indian political landscape and the motley Indian crowd or rather moribund and insensitive people of this country.

We celebrate 15th August 1947 as independence day of India and we are so proud to be Indian. Yeah ! yeah ! I am proud to be an Indian. To think about it I was just wondering what should we be proud of? Is it the culture, heritage, democracy or the motley desi junta?

Think about it guys we talk about our country gaining independence for 60 years after 200 or 250 years or British rule right? hmmm..Well here is a correction for those who are not yet apprised of the history of this country.Well the independence was gained after 1000 years. Did your eyes pop out? Thats correct. I remember Atal Bihari Vajpayee (India’s ex PM) talking in proud about India not having a record of invading any country in past 1000 years. Well the fact is we have not even been able to defend ourselves as well.We have been ruled by Persians, Uzbeks, Afghans and British. The Uzbeks I am referring here is for Moghuls.

So lets talk about how proud we are about being Indians? The fact is Britishers did more good than the current politicians to this country. The Indian consititution is derived from them and just try changing it. Our dalit savior Mayawati will jump the guns since the constitution was drafted by Dalit , who himself had said that competence of this country cannot be compromised by reservations.We will come about the reservation topic later. So apart from consitution the Indian railway system, Postal system, basic infrastructure in current metros of India are again courtesey Britishers. I am not advocating the British Raj in India but just trying to get a persepective as to what has been our (Indian mass) contribution to this country.

The worst thing that happened to this country was Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel not being made the Prime Minister post independence resulting in rise of Nehur-Gandhi family and hence the rule of congress for 45 years in India. This rule was a curse in many ways.

Now the entire Indian media and the intellectuals are talking about granting independence to J&K. We have some noteable people like Arundhati Roy supporting the cause. This when India has lost uncountable soldiers in this war including 300 officers in Kargil. Mother F……Politicians, Media and Arundhati Roy.

6. Corruption to the hilt which is prevalent in this country - Thanks a lot Congress

7. Vote Bank Politics and minority polarisation - Congress

With the current state of affairs this country has and the “chalta hai” attitude we Indians have grown , I am more than sure that had the population of India being manageable under 20-30 million odd probably we would have been again ruled by some foreign power. The greed,selfishness and the abusive traits which are inherrent in us has become the DNA make up due to rule by foreign powers for 1000 years. Guess it will take more than a 1000 years to change the DNA in us.

I see such helpless faces of common man in Bombay trains , who are waiting for another bomb to explode in train and die. Then probably we will have again fresh round of committes set up and investigation happening and then the blame game on ISI and Pakistan.But despite all this we will never have a free and independent Central Agency to counter terrorism and nor we will have tough anti terror laws because that will affect the minority vote bank of leading political parties of this country. Sometimes I wonder how oblivious are we Indians to this country and how much we can abuse the democracy in this country.We the same Indians when we are in US or Europe , we will ensure to follow every rules in the law book but back here zilch. I recently read about lynching of a CEO in delhi and how the labour minister justified that lynching. This goes to show the mindset of our current political class. For me these politicians are the biggest untouchable class. To be precise spineless bastards.

This country needs a new political system which should not contain any of the current politicial cadres.

Well its too late now, so I am still to touch the following topics in due course of time :

1. Hindu-Muslim divide.why does it exist and how this can be removed?

2. Reservation

3. Does India need Gandhi’s?

4.Why does India need BJP and RSS to be voted to Power for atleast next 10 years.

5. Why do we need people like Netaji Bose and Sardar Patel now

6. Why does this defunct constitution needs to be changed?

7. Why do we need US model of Presidential system?

8. Public stripping and belting of people like Arundhati Roy.

9. Geo-Political scenarios for India in next 20 years and what needs to be done (Political, Social, Economical and Military)? - This will be quite interesting, I guarantee you that.

They’re just to make sure that they know they crossed the border line, Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari told reporters today before meeting with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in New York. “Sometimes the border is so mixed that they don’t realize that they crossed the border”.

Once again a false propaganda against Pakistani forces have been seen that “Pakistan fired warning shots on two US helicopters that it said crossed into the country’s airspace from Afghanistan”. The Pentagon and NATO denied the aircraft flew into Pakistan. NATO which has soldiers in neighboring Afghanistan fighting supporters of the Taliban, The helicopters in today’s incident didn’t return the fire and “immediately contacted Pakistani authorities,” Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman told reporters today in Washington. At no time did helicopters from NATO’s International Security Assistance Force cross into Pakistan’s airspace,” NATO said in a press release from Kabul. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization heads the ISAF in Afghanistan.

Pakistan’s military has already blamed Afghan-based coalition forces led by the US for a Sept. 3 attack that killed seven civilians in the South Waziristan tribal region bordering Afghanistan. In these days US President is pressing Pakistan’s new government to be more aggressive in its war against terrorism, saying the South Asian nation isn’t doing enough to combat militancy in its tribal region, where Taliban and al-Qaeda are regrouping.

It has been said by many intellectual’s that US president’s current policy is changed for the coming “Presidential Election” in USA. Therefore, he can do any thing to that account. Which can develop more insurgency in our globe. Indian Agencies are more active against Pakistani forces then what kind of coalition is that? Every one is criticizing on these kinds of policies of coalition. United Nation must act more sensibly in these circumstances.

Security footage of the attack has been released, showing the moments leading up the explosion. The tape shows a dump truck ramming the security barrier, causing guards to scatter. They nervously return to investigate the truck, when a small explosion rips through its cab. One guard tries to put out the fire, but they did know that the back of the dump truck was filled with nearly 600 kilograms of explosives.

Investigators have made a disturbing discovery about the explosives. Initial reports suggest it may have been fertilizer, normally used in terrorist attacks, but officials now believe it may have been military-grade material.

According to a website report / source, it was an act of revenge for the such bomb blasts of Indian cities. It is found that this sad incident was supported by some Indian agencies, those are fully active in Afghanistan supported by Israelis as well.

Indian agencies are providing funds and manual support for the suicide attacks against Pakistani forces.
