http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/09/06/palins-church-promoting-conference-aimed-at-converting-gays/

http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/09/06/palins-church-promoting-conference-aimed-at-converting-gays/

This is from FOX News, not that I trust their view overmuch.

It still amazes me that, in the 21st Century, the Right Wing Christian Control Party (that would be the Republicans) would still be trying to interfere in the private lives of American citizens. I wish these religious nut bags would just understand their own Bible, and leave honest America to honest Americans.

This is an excellent example of how the Republicans are pushing a religious doctrine of hate towards anyone who is "different" or does not know Jesus as a personal savior. I have to ask, how are Christian fundamentalists different from Islamic fundamentalists who drive airplanes into buildings? Is it just that the Republicans haven't gotten the balls together to start hijacking planes, yet?

Islamic fundamentalists hate anyone who doesn't accept Allah as God. (They are infidels and you can kill them.)

Christian fundamentalists hate anyone who doesn't accept Jesus as God. (They take rights away and treat them as pariahs. They would probably kill them if they could get away with it, or at least, put them in "reeducation camps" and tell them about Jesus in a hope of saving them. The unsavable, in their view, would be killed.)

Gee. Not much of a difference, is there? I mean, at least Islamic fundamentalists are honest about what they intend to do to non-believers. Republicans/Christian fundamentalists are disingenuous about their goals. They want to "save" you from yourself, because they don't think you've got the brains to think for yourself.

Your stupid, in their eyes. Plain and simple.

An excerpt:

Palin reversed her position and vetoed the bill after the state attorney general said it was unconstitutional. But her reluctant support didn’t win fans among Alaska’s gay population, said Scott Turner, a gay activist in Anchorage.

So she getws shot down legally, she'll try to "pray the gay away" instead.

Whatever happened to God loves everyone? Isn't that in the Bible, too? I guess her Bible reads like a manifesto of hatred instead of the loving word of God it is supposed to be.

Americans must move past hese divisive stances and embrace the future. It is the only way this country will survive.

New Zealand has changed a lot in 20 years, thanks to the liberal left agenda

The NZ Herald has published an article about homosexual students having to sign a declaration before

The NZ Herald has published an article about homosexual students having to sign a declaration before they can take a homosexual partner to the school ball.

It's been a little over twenty years since I left school; I cannot recall any openly homosexual pupils at school, nor any effete males. A person like that would have been treated like a freak in the days when kids when into the bushes to smoke, rather then smoking on the street in school uniform as they do now. Now pupils take their homosexual partners to school balls, and the only complaint is that they have to sign a form to do so: sexual perversion in schools is now normal. So what's changed?

The short answer is that the liberal left has bought open perversion into our society. The long answer follows.

In an earlier post I briefly described the motives of the liberal left; their programme of societal transformation began after World War One. One of the authors of the liberal left agenda was Herbert Marcuse, who favoured polymorphous perversism (rough translation: perversion in many forms) as a way of breaking down Western culture and values. The Labour/Green cabal are clearly disciples of Marcuse. When you hears words like "tolerance" and "gay rights" what it really means is "we want polymorphous perversion, and too bad if anyone doesn't like it".

This leads directly to the legalisation of homosexuality in 1986 by the then Labour government. I don't think that many people suddenly became homosexuals because it was legal, but making it legal made it a lot easier for homosexuals to spread their poison. Now school children go to assemblies to hear homosexuals giving detailed instructions on how to be a pervert, complete with free samples of the equipment, and we've had Hero Parades where homosexuals display their bacchanalian proclivities to the world, whilst misusing the word "hero".

As a classical libertarian I do not believe that it is the job of the State to be legislating morality. However, as a classical libertarian I also believe that it is not the job of the State to be providing schools, which are a means for the State to teach its values to children. Remember that many of the staff and MPs in the pro-homosexual Labour Party formerly worked in the State school system, like the openly homosexual MP Chris Carter who was a school principal before becoming a MP*. Why do so many of the liberal left work in schools? Because it is an excellent way of controlling and corrupting future generations: those parents who choose to send their children to a State school are essentially handing their children over to a bunch of sick perverts.

Returning to the NZ Herald article, they quote a whining comment on a homosexual blog: "Why don't the straight students have to sign something to confirm their heterosexuality? " Because, Mr Pervert, straight students are the norm and you and your friends are the freaks.

**********

* this is another example of Labour condoning criminal behaviour, because Carter was a homosexual and a school teacher when homosexuality was illegal. It is convenient for him that the Homosexual Law Reform Act gave immunity from prosecution for past homosexual acts in most circumstances; Labour clearly likes retrospective laws that make the illegal and immoral legal.

Wow. This just in, my father is a fucking arsehole.

Now I've mentioned before his slight confusion over his sexuality. I've known this for years, my mother knew even before I was born & honestly, it's never really been an issue. Until now. So, what I may not have mentioned is the fact he has a young man (22 years old) from the Philippines coming over to stay with him in November. My father's wife knows & is fine with it - as I would hope so since he will be staying in her house. In-fact, while we're on her, I may as well shock you all by saying again how she can email him but not me. Yes I know, shock horror.

So this guy is in the process of applying for a Visa to come here. Apparently all of his friends have been telling him not to come. My father could "murder him, traffic him, rape him, anything!". My dad tells me this as though it's blasphemy, to which I replied that those were the exact words he used when Bear & I were planning to meet for the first time.

Anyway, the point of this post? This evening, my father tells me the following:

[22:19:36] -----@btinternet.com says:
I got a really good deal on travel to London where we'll stay with Ian and Nick and it's only £14 train fare each way
[22:20:04] -----@btinternet.com says:
but I had to book right away and take the dates offered which are 7th to 15th November
[22:20:13] -----@btinternet.com says:
so I will miss your last week here

Well shit me a coconut, isn't that a fathers love in action right there.

Obviously he isn't bothered by the notion that I'll be living in America & won't be coming back any time soon. It's fucking unbelievable with these people I swear, they are so out of touch with reality & with me. I'm speechless, I mean, what the hell am I supposed to even say to this?

I mean he's going on about some Muslim guy in the fucking Philippines who's angling for a ticket & a job here so he doesn't get "stoned to death if his homosexuality is found out" - his words, not mine by the way so don't hold me to that. But really, is he coming over for a holiday or is my father fucking adopting him?!!

My father is supposed to be thousands in debt, cannot afford the airfare to come to my wedding & wants me to apologize to his wife because it causes him "undue stress". Well you know what, evidently he can pony up for this kid, fly him over & pay the bills while he's here, but can't even be there for me on my last week here, even when we had our own plans!

So fuck him. Fuck it. I'm done.

This is the first of two biopics about Harvey Milk, allegedly the first gay man in the world elected to substantial political office. What Van Sant lacked in cult film 'My Own Private Idaho', he's more than made up for since with 'Elephant' and 'Paranoid Park'.

Autobiography is a very interesting genre, in large part because it is so rare to find the combination of a brillaint writer and a compelling story. Furthermore, these books rarely follow standard plot progression and usually lack the frequent use of literary devices (such as parallelism, symbolism, metaphor, allegory and irony) that are a staple of fiction. This makes renowned writer/activist Alison Bechdel's trend-bucking graphic memoir Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic stand out from the crowd all the more. Taking the leap from comic strip creator to full-fledged autobiographer, Bechdel pulls back the curtain on her own life to reveal the bizarre and often tragic details of her upbringing, and sheds light on her discovery of her own sexuality in almost perfect contrast to her father's attempts to disguise and deny his.

Fun Home begins with the expository surface details of Bechdel family life in order to set a framework (like a house of cards, an elegant facade of stability) which slowly comes under greater and greater scrutiny as the memoir progresses. Once the details of Bruce Bechdel's death (which occurred several weeks after Alison's "coming out" to her family) are revealed, she takes the reader back to the myriad events of her childhood that seemed so innocuous at the time, yet were plainly visible signs of tragedy for anyone who had the foresight to look for them. Make no mistake, though: It is Bruce's inability to accept his homosexuality that is his tragedy, not the sexual identity itself. Indeed, one might say that his inward repression - combined with subtle expression via creative outlets such as gardening, restoration of antiques, and fancy period dress - were an invisible, influential force on young Alison, who reacted by becoming "butch" to her father's "pansy" long before she was old enough to understand her own motives.

Everything in the Bechdel family home (a meticulously restored manor home from the nineteenth century that Bruce supposedly showed more affection to than his own children) was a carefully contrived fiction. The Bechdels' marriage was never truly equitable or even amicable, and the entire family could be seen as just another "piece" of the house that gave the fiction an appearance of authenticity. It is a wonder that Alison is not far more emotionally damaged than she is.

Fun Home is clearly written by a professional author, specifically one with a solid education in the classics of Western Literature. Given the fact that Bruce Bechdel was a high school English teacher and an avid reader who encouraged his daughter to pursue the arts from an early age, this comes as no surprise. What is surprising is the astoundingly literary structure of events in Alison's life, as well as the number and extent of allegorical, metaphorical or parallel occurances that make the truth even more illustrative and dramatic than fiction. The final chapter deals largely with astoundingly fitting parallels between both Bruce and Alison's lives and James Joyce's Ulysses and Homer's The Odyssey (the "cyclops" is a lover of Alison's who has a glass eye, etc.), while the early chapters illustrate an unsettling mirror of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby that may have been an example of life imitating art. After all, could it be coincidence that Bruce Bechdel's life so frequently reflected elements of his favorite novels?

On the subject of illustration, Bechdel's graphic work fits perfectly with the memoir genre. Each panel blends the authenticity of meticulously recorded and researched history with the inherent nostalgia of memory, be it for better or worse. The use of three colors (black ink, white negative space, and blue watercolor) gives the pages an almost cold feeling, which is more in keeping with the book's themes than more traditional sepia tones would be. Many photographs and letter excerpts are expertly reproduced, sometimes authentic to the point of making them less legible. If I have one problem with Fun Home, it is that the occasional reproduced handwritten excerpt takes extra time to decipher. Thankfully, any passages of crucial importance are highlighted for emphasis and easy reading.

The subject of homosexuality is the crux of Fun Home, and it is treated not only with the respect that it deserves, but with a surprising level of accessibility. Alison Bechdel does a fantastic job relating her own experiences in a way that will help heterosexual readers understand her journey without making them feel alienated or uncomfortable. In fact, I would say that this may be one of the greatest strengths of "Fun Home." Perhaps we will see it taught in LGBT studies courses the same way Maus is used in some college-level courses dealing with the Holocaust. It is certainly equally honest and forthright, and similarly tragic, but is a decidedly different in both theme and method of storytelling. I highly recommend Fun Home to anyone who enjoys deeply moving, well-crafted stories with strong characterization and important themes. Sometimes the truth really is more powerful than fiction.

had enough. I tried to retrieve Raggot but he wouldn't come out again,
so I peered into the tube and struck a match, thinking the light might
attract him."

At a hushed press conference, a hospital pokesman described what
happened next. "The match ignited a pocket of intestinal
gas and a flame shot out the tube, igniting Mr Tomaszewski's hair and
severely burning his face. It also set fire to the gerbil's fur and
whiskers which in turn ignited a larger pocket of gas further up the
intestine, propelling the rodent out like a cannonball."

Tomaszewski suffered second degree burns and a broken nose from the impact
of the gerbil, while Farnum suffered first and second degree
burns to his anus and lower intestinal tract.

Rock Haven (2007) is visually a beautiful movie. Set in a northern coastline township in California, each frame is worthy to be displayed in some gallery. The piano music that trails the entire film adds the emotional tempo to carry us through the story of how a deeply spiritual christian young man, Brady (Sean Hoagland), comes to terms with his sexuality in a struggle that is common among a lot of gay men and women.

There is a lot of symbolism in this movie drawn from natural settings where the very nature of faith is being considered by Brady. When he meets Clifford (Owen Alabado), and experiences falling in love, Clifford begins to love his complete self.

One of the good moments in the film is when Clifford (who actually starts reading the Bible upon the request of Brady) confronts a withdrawn Brady who had decided at that point to return to his straight ways, and says “I thought you had more faith than that!”

The film brings home a message that self acceptance and the coming out process from a perspective of faith are so much bigger than a church or an interpretation of scriptural writings. For Christians, it is in that personal deep soul connection that one has with God where His Love is so much greater than all of us. Basically, God accepts you as a gay person. Accept yourself.

Brady's coming out process in the end becomes a spiritual journey for him of self acceptance and true faith.

The film’s writing and editing was weak in places which made it drag at certain points. It also inhibited some of the actors’ performances. However, overall it is worth the DVD rental.

_¡Y yo a vos marica precioso!.

_Bueno no peleen- dije yo asustada.

_No estamos peleando respondieron al unisono.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

I spent the wee early morning hours of the day watching Doomsday and some other random horror movie

I spent the wee early morning hours of the day watching Doomsday and some other random horror movie with a friend. Good times. Doomsday was...interesting...somewhat indescribable...but good. How can it not be with hot Rhona Mitra kicking serious ass all throughout the movie? I think I'm developing a serious crush on her. Bigger than my crush on Shane (L-Word) or Angelina. Will someone get me Rhona for my birthday??

I made my way home at 3am and checked my email before crawling into bed. There was a birthday message from my mother. Only slightly annoying. I sent a quick reply before heading off to sleep.

I woke up at 11 with a serious need to pee. I saw I had a voicemail from my mother. It was significantly more annoying than the 3am email. I decided to go back to bed.

At 1pm, my alarm went off. I can't believe I slept so late, but I'll take 9 hours of sleep even if it means the day is half over. I listened to an amusing voicemail from my dad and checked my 3 text messages from my roommate. She's amazing. She left me a box of muffins on the kitchen table. I enjoyed the chocolatey one with some coffee. Yum.

I checked my email before heading off to a mandatory school thing. Another email from my mother. *sigh* This one wished me a happy birthday again, but was filled with subtle messages about how she's sad she doesn't get to see me on my birthday. It's my damn birthday. I should get to see who I want to see. Annoyance.

I checked my facebook page to see several birthday wishes from friends. :) Then I noticed a new advertisement on the side of my page with the following message: "Over 30 and single?" Jeez. Facebook didn't waste any time!

Before I left for the school thing, I pulled a muscle in my back...all I did was attempt to stand from a seated position. I didn't *do* anything. Apparently my back feels 'old' today. The school thing was incredibly boring and pointless. At least it's over now.

Then out to dinner with friends...by far the best part of my day. Good food, good drinks, good times. After dinner we picked up icecream but we were too full to eat anything else so it remains in the freezer still. We watched a movie, "If These Walls Could Talk 2". It was good. Check it out...but be forewarned, you will see Ellen DeGeneres' breasts. And Sharon Stone's...but that sort of goes without saying. If she's in a movie, you're probably going to see quite a bit of her body. And thank God for that.

I also talked with my mom again. More annoyance. More guilt that I didn't see her today. Blah blah blah.

And now it's approaching midnight...the final minutes of my 30th birthday. I'm about to head out to the gay bar with some friends. Here's hoping I don't drink too much.

I don't really feel 30. Not that 30 is old. Some days I feel 63. Other days I act like I'm about 12 1/2. Whatever right?

All in all it was a good day, thanks to great friends!

So imagine my surprise when I opened up word today to re-write my Palin politic blog and found that the computer somehow recovered the document. Needless to say I WAS EXCITED. So below is the blog I was working on. Enjoy.

I think it is safe to say that McCain has made a decisive choice in selecting Palin as his running mate. I mean those of us who were Hillary Clinton supporters are now left with several choices considering she is out of the running for the presidential ticket. We could vote for Obama and keep to our political party lines, we could vote for McCain and cross party lines, or we could exercise our right to not vote for a presidential/ vice presidential candidate (while there are some out there that believe not voting in the election is a vote for McCain…I look at it as a personal decision that people are allowed to make as long as it is an informed decision and not just out of laziness).

Why shouldn’t McCain make a play for the Hillary voters out there? I mean they make up a decent voting block. But, and I stress but, here is the funny thing, just because McCain chose a woman as his running mate doesn’t mean he is going to sway the Hillary supporters. It’s degrading to think that just because McCain has picked a woman to run on his ticket that Hillary supporters (especially women) are going to flock to his camp. It feels as if McCain’s camp thinks that women voters will vote for a woman despite her policies. I’m now going to call this gender voting and if I were a woman I would be repulsed by this assumption McCain’s camp has made. Also, if McCain is trying to sway Hillary supporters to his side why in the world would he pick a conservative governor? There are certain policies that appealed to those of us who were going to vote for Hillary if she were a candidate. Perhaps some of us liked her views on education, or LGBT rights, or her being socially liberal, what about her stances on abortion, the point is Hillary supporters supported her for specific reasons, not just because she’s a woman. Palin policies do not match Clinton’s policies (okay so they both approve of the death penalty…big whoop). Strategically speaking, shouldn’t have McCain’s people advised him to pick someone who was more center of the road?

I would just like to point out that in perusing of several blogs that it has come to my attention that McCain was suppose to be on CNN and field questions regarding Palin but he backed out. The reason for this is that one of the listed questions was going to be asking him name one foreign policy that Palin has backed and McCain felt that was stepping over the line in terms of questioning. First, asking someone about their foreign policy (especially if they are going to be in the second most powerful position in America) is not crossing the line. Like all good job interviews it’s nice to know the skills one has. I’m just saying Palin doesn’t seem to have those skills. Secondly, it wasn’t like CNN (of all groups) asked about her pregnant unwed child. That would be below the belt and not something necessarily for the American people to judge (while they do find it easy to judge the gays). But it also brings up a talking point. It is only and example, but Palin’s policy on abstinence only sex education. Let us talk about how it is a flawed policy that has hit home with her. I think it is very telling about Palin’s ability to govern. Another point I’d like to make is that this is big time politics here. And please don’t get me started with her supporting the teaching of creationism in science class. We are not talking the population of Alaska (and I’m not trying to bash Alaska). What I’m trying to say is that we are looking at a much larger extended population she would have to deal with and to go from Alaskan politics to world politics is a big change.

Let me also ask all of you this…if McCain died in office is this the person that you would want leading out country?

Personally, I don’t want this “hockey Mom” leading out country. I want a decisive leader who has experience and frankly Palin doesn’t do it for me.

Jesus, if McCain and Palin are voted in I’m moving to Canada. This is going to be a long two months.

I almost went to the California State fair on Monday. I didn’t, which is another story, but I

I almost went to the California State fair on Monday. I didn't, which is another story, but I did get to see a group of guys out in front of Cal Expo with signs and handing out fliers. The signs said stuff like, "Honk if you support traditional marriage," and the fliers they were handing out said, "10 Reasons Why Homosexual "Marriage" is Harmful and Must be Opposed."

It only took a quick Google search to find who the group was. They are a Catholic organization called The American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property. If you want to see their "10 Reasons" flier, I found that on their site too, here.

Despite the fact that I think that homosexuality is wrong, I also think that the ASDTFP is totally wrong in their approach of the issue. So I've created my own little response to their flier; I call it, "4 Reasons Why No One is Listening."

1. You Look Like Weirdos
Come on guys, it's 90 degrees out and you are wearing tweed suits with a funky red sash across the front. That alone makes you look retarded, but add to that the fact that you seem to not know how to smile, and then add to that the fact that every few minutes you chant in unison something that sounds like "America will fall" and you all now appear to be psycho-ward escapees. Then again... that would explain the tweed suits...

2. You Don't Relate to People
You have your list of reasons, but if anyone you are waving signs at asked you a personal question, would you have an intelligent answer? If someone came up and said, "Hi, I'm gay. Are you telling me I'm harmful to America?" would you actually be able to have a conversation telling them how much Jesus loves them? Or would you just condemn them and give them a flier? I'm guessing that not only do you not have anyone in your group that used to be gay, you probably have never even had any gay friends. You have no idea who you're talking to.

3. You Have Tall Pony Syndrome
Or in other words: you are a proud and condescending group of religious elitists. Get off your high horse. God isn't the only one who resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. I agree with the core of what you're saying and still wouldn't want anyone to think I was associated with you or anything like you.

4. You Make One Type of Sinner Look Worse Than Another
OK, so homosexuality is wrong; the Bible is pretty clear about that. But so is anger, hate, lying, and a whole slew of others. Everyone is equally in need of redemption through Jesus Christ; whether you are a cannibalistic-homosexual-abortionist-serial-killer, or a "good Christian."

All four of my reasons really come down to humility and love; being humble enough to see that you need God's forgiveness just as much as everyone else, and loving the people that Jesus loves enough to actually get to know them. The first step in reaching anyone, on any level, is to establish some kind of trust. They totally skipped that and went right for the self-righteous declaration. Sorry guys, not gonna work.

I constantly get emails of people wanting to see the fantasy of military guys going gay for each other. In my endless effort to exploit my best friends for my professional and financial gain, here you go. Look how natural these two are sportin Speedos and applying sun tan lotion in the hot summer sun.

Calm down Disco Valante blog readers! Hazel Eyes and Straight-ish boy are strictly for the ladies...as far as I know. But you know what my gay friends say, "The only difference between a straight guy and a gay guy is a couple of beers. :)

These two complete my three-some "bro-mance". I affectionately think of Steven and Erik as my brothers. They are possibly the two most free spirits I know. They have always been supportive of me and I love them for that.

To Steven: "Kings to me!" - inside joke

Alright…I hope everyone had a great weekend and Labor Day. I had a decent political rant goi

Alright...I hope everyone had a great weekend and Labor Day. I had a decent political rant going regarding Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin and how McCain's camp thinks that just because Hillary Clinton was a woman any woman he chose would get Hillary supporters to cross political party lines and support him, even though Palin is different in terms of policy compared to Clinton. It was really good, then my power surged and I lost it all. SON OF A BITCH....so what I'm going to do is breifly update you on my weekend at the wedding and then later this week or early next week I'll redo the political rant. I can't help it if I'm lazy.

The wedding I went to was awesome. Classic, simple, and elegant. My date was one of the bridesmaids and she was gorgeous and we danced all night. The groomsmen were hot and not single at all, shoot. The reception was amazing! We were at a large mansion in Buffalo, NY and they had decorated one of the ballrooms in white everything. White linens, white lights were strung up over the dancefloor. It was beautiful. When it got dark out and the white lights were on it seemed like everything was gauzy. It was almost like being in a old black and white movie. And it didnt' hurt that I had the best date for the evening!!!!! ;) Everything was great!

When I got home on Sunday I went to the gay bar to try and hit on the bartender ...it didn't go well. Lauren ended up approaching him and chewing him out for not texting me and it basically started to unravel from there....it didn't help I was anilihated on Long Island Iced Teas either. So goes the saga of my love life...............UGH. Well at least I know Lauren will chew someone out for me if need be lol. Her old college roommate was in town that weekend who is lovely and we had a blast together. I got some beach time in on Monday so it was nice and relaxing and all hungovery. Other than that it was a typical weekend.

Well that's it for now. I hope all of you are doing well.
