Our German Shepherd Ears!

Me and my wife have a German Shepherd that we absolutely love!!!!!!!! When we adopted him from a local animal shelter, we noticed that at five weeks his ears stood straight up. Everyone who saw him said "His ears are already standing up?" "Did you get them clipped?" We were wondering if it was rare for his ears to stand up that early. And the answer is "yes" it is rare. We met other young shepherd owners with puppies at the age of 10 wks whose ears were still down. At first we were worried but later that feeling turned to pride because our dog was unique and he finally grew into his ears!!!!! So if you have a giant-eared German shepherd don't worry!!! And also if your dog's ears have not stood up yet they will, or if your dog's ears are already upright than be proud!! He is ahead of his time .

I'm 19, it's 1am in the morning - now a Sunday and I have just been asked a weird question. OK so I know your probably wondering why I'm in at one am on what was a Saturday morning. I was sleeping that's what, all day long I couldn't rouse myself so I just lied on the sofa comatosed and slept like a bear hibernating for all it's worth. I kind-of lied. The answer is no, I don't sleep with a stuffed toy, though there is one or two hidden under my bed. Now you know another secret, even though I have moved out of my mums, decorated my flat, working in central London, saving to travel. Look after fish and plants. Make sure the bills are paid and scheming to take over the world I have a stuffed toy and I wouldn't get rid of it for the simple fact of it being a gift.
The problem I have is that for some reason I thought it a good idea to light up the candles, finish the wine, put on Jack Johnson and relax because for some reason I'm feeling so detached. What do you do in those situations? personally I just pretend it's not happening and keep on rolling. You can only do so much really, and lets face it - home is home. I'm happy I have a base and the world is calling, so while everyone else my age is out getting plastered and STI's, I'm steadily filling my ISA account and planning to escape to the other side of the world and see where life takes me. Lets face it, everything I do is just passing the time till I can raise my family and teach them to be good people and to enjoy life to its fullest, don't worry about anything because this time next week, next month, next year. Your depression is a self-defense of your organism and your psyche against the mistakes you make, following the absurd suggestions of the wild side of your conscience or the absurd tendencies of the under-developed human side of your conscience. In any case you have two enemies, pushing you towards craziness, since even the human side of your conscience is absurd.

There is too much craziness accumulated in the anti-conscience, the wild part of your conscience, and this is why it is schizophrenic.

The human part of your conscience was only partially developed. You have to help your brain reach a stage of total development that will increase your intelligence, if you want to use all its potential.

Translating your dreams according to the scientific method, you can prevent depression, craziness and suicidal tendencies before losing your mental health, and completely develop your personality, becoming a real genius.

Craziness prevention is depression and suicide prevention as well, since craziness is responsible for the existence of depression and all mental illnesses. The craziness accumulated in the wild side of the human brain and psyche is responsible for the appearance of all mental illnesses in the human being.

Therefore, craziness prevention is in fact more than indispensable for everyone, especially for depressed people, for people that belong to introverted psychological types and for people ready to commit suicide.

Depression is a self protection of your organism and your psyche, because you may insist on making mistakes, but you have to be stopped somehow.

Depression is a warning that doesn’t let you continue making the same mistakes and insisting on finding happiness this way.

If you live with the wrong person, work in the wrong job and live in the wrong place, you cannot be happy, even taking anti-depressants daily…  

Yesterday I wrote an article about the case of a young man that has a girlfriend without loving her, only because she loves him and he decided to “try her out”.

He was terrified with a nightmare he saw, where he was violently attacking a person that “he should love”.

In other words, he was exploding and hitting the girlfriend that doesn’t let him find the right person for him. This nightmare was a warning and a prevision.

You cannot make absurd decisions and expect to live “normally”, without being depressed like the dreamer of our example, who already has neurotic behavior.

Your depression will make you pay attention to all the mistakes you are making, exactly because you live influenced by your anti-conscience, that pushes you towards craziness all the time and that obliges you to decide living with the wrong person, doing work that you dislike, and live in a place where you feel lost, so that you may easily become completely crazy with all the deceptions of your life.

You may believe that your decisions are really the result of your own thoughts and preferences, however, you have an enemy inside you influencing your behavior and suggesting wrong decisions to you without letting you think seriously about anything.

You have to get rid of this enemy, before it completely destroys the human side of your brain and psyche through craziness.

You have also another enemy: your own under-developed, ignorant and selfish human conscience, that has to learn too much until it may be able to help you in life, instead of provoking you so many problems.

If you don’t pay attention to the warning given by your depression, you may simply accept the crazy behavior imposed by the anti-conscience, without criticizing it in order to verify its absurdity, or the behavior imposed by your psychological type, which is also totally absurd.

If you are not depressed yet, care about the meaning of your dreams without delay, so that you may easily prevent depression, craziness and suicidal tendencies now that you can.

Depending on the seriousness of your psychical problem, you may delay too much to recuperate your mental health or you may lose it for good.

Don’t let things arrive at this point!

Be prudent and prevent the worst, especially now that you have learned how dangerous, violent and evil the absurd content accumulated in the wild part of your brain and psyche is and how absurd the human side of your conscience is too, even though you believe that the known part of your human conscience is balanced and “normal”.

"As you listen to the news about the student protests over illegal
immigration, there are some things that you should be aware of:

I am in charge of the English-as-a-second-language department at a
large southern California high school which is designated a Title 1
school, meaning that its students average lower socioeconomic
and income levels.

Most of the schools you are hearing about, South Gate High, Bell
Gardens , Huntington Park , etc., where these students are protesting,
are also Title 1 schools.

Title 1 schools are on the free breakfast and free lunch program. When
I say free breakfast, I'm not talking a glass of milk and roll -- but
a full breakfast and cereal bar with fruits and juices that would make
a Marriott proud. The waste of this food is monumental, with trays and
trays of it being dumped in the trash uneaten. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT
WORK)

I estimate that well over 50% of these students are obese or at least
moderately overweight. About 75% or more DO have cell phones. The
school also provides day care centers for the unwed teenage pregnant
girls (some as young as 13) so they can attend class without the
inconvenience of having to arrange for babysitters or having family
watch their kids. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)

I was ordered to spend $700,000 on my department or risk losing
funding for the upcoming year even though there was little need for
anything; my budget was already substantial. I ended up buying new
computers for the computer learning center, half of which, one month
later, have been carved with graffiti by the appreciative students who
obviously feel humbled and grateful to have a free education in
America . (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)

I have had to intervene several times for young and substitute
teachers whose classes consist of many illegal immigrant students here
in the country less then 3 months who raised so much hell with the
female teachers, calling them "Putas" (whores) and throwing things,
that the teachers were in tears..

Free medical, free education, free food, day care
etc., etc, etc. Is it any wonder they feel entitled to not only be in
this country but to demand rights, privileges and entitlements?

To those who want to point out how much these illegal immigrants
contribute to our society because they LIKE their gardener and
housekeeper and they like to pay less for tomatoes: spend some time in
the real world of illegal immigration and see the TRUE costs.

Higher insurance, medical facilities closing, higher medical costs,
more crime, lower standards of education in our schools, overcrowding,
new diseases etc., etc, etc. For me, I'll pay more for tomatoes.

Americans need to wake up. The guest worker program will be a
disaster because we won't have the guts to enforce it. Does anyone in
their right mind really think they will voluntarily leave and return?

It does, however, have everything to do with culture: A third-world
culture that does not value education, that accepts children getting
pregnant and dropping out of school by 15 and that refuses to
assimilate, and an American culture that has become so weak and
worried about "political correctness" that we don't have the will to
do anything about it.

If this makes your blood boil, as it did mine, forward this to
everyone you know.

CHEAP LABOR? Isn't that what the whole immigration issue is about?

Business doesn't want to pay a decent wage.

Consumers don't want expensive produce.

Government will tell you Americans don't want the jobs.

But the bottom line is cheap labor. The phrase "cheap labor" is a
myth, a farce, and a lie. There is no such thing as "cheap labor."

Take, for example, an illegal alien with a wife and five children. He
takes a job for $5.00 or 6.00/hour. At that wage, with six dependents,
he pays no income tax, yet at the end of the year, if he files an Income
Tax Return, he gets an "earned income credit" of up to $3,200 free.

He qualifies for Section 8 housing and subsidized rent.

He qualifies for food stamps.

He qualifies for free (no deductible, no co-pay) health care.

His children get free breakfasts and lunches at school.

He requires bilingual teachers and books.

He qualifies for relief from high energy bills.

If they are or become, aged, blind or disabled, they qualify for SSI.
Once qualified for SSI they can qualify for Medicare. All of this is
at (our) taxpayer's expense.

He doesn't worry about car insurance, life insurance, or homeowners
insurance.

Taxpayers provide Spanish language signs, bulletins and printed material.

He and his family receive the equivalent of $20.00 to $30.00/hour in
benefits.

Working Americans are lucky to have $5.00 or $6.00/hour left after

paying their bills and his.

The American taxpayers also pay for increased crime, graffiti and
trash clean-up.

Cheap labor? YEAH RIGHT! Wake up people!

THESE ARE THE QUESTIONS WE SHOULD BE ADDRESSING TO THE PRESIDENTIAL
CANDIDATES FOR EITHER PARTY. 'AND WHEN THEY LIE TO US AND DON'T DO AS
THEY SAY, WE SHOULD REPLACE THEM AT ONCE!'

Yes, this day has it's ups and downs and all that would make it what it is. You however, are partaking of this day inwhich you now live. If you dropped dead this very minute that it takes you to reach the end of this paragraph, this day would continue; yet it would continue for all others beside yourself. If you can capture this in your mind, this day is not revolving around you, but you are partaking of this moment of time called a day.

Understanding this is life changing for many. So many believe the world revolves around them. Nevertheless, we live and die on the third rock from the Sun leaving others to do the same.

If you hear the voice of the Lord speaking in your heart due to the Gospel that you have heard in what ever limited form that it might have been; then "Today" is the day of salvation for you personally. There is no better time than now. Tomorrow you may not be fitted with the clothing of skin that you are so accustom to. The covering may be this Earth upon your body; but the the covering of your soul may be something entirely different than what you may have ever expected!

Do you know that every man and woman that has or ever will live upon this Earth will live forever? Immortality is for all. And for many they would agree. They would jump for joy and speak about this to everyone that they meet in stating: "We are part of the divine Being and are forever living with That presence." That is a lie! That is a falsehood and a direct contridiction of the written words of the Messiah named Jesus of Nazareth.

We are not the same. Everyone that you will ever meet will agree to that. You and I can agree on many things, yet we are far from being the same. Each one who breathes breath into their lungs are separate from yet another that breathes the same breath of air. And we are accountable to each and every word that comes out of our mouths by the same breathe that all take in. God in His infinite wisdom has provided breathe to each man and woman on this rock spinning around in space. He has given each of us a task, a command to do upon this rock called Earth. "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over..." The revelation is before us all.

Many men and women think that we are to have dominion over other men and women as seen thoughout history. That is a great and grevious mistake. The sin that is in the heart of men and women has perverted the first commandment and has open the door of judges, kings, and world government. And here we are in the state that we are in.

The dominion was to be over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth (not including men and women). God gets that dominion and that respect. He has given life and desires that we give life ourselves. All that has been perverted since the beginning of time; so much so that we have forgotten that life.

Being dead to Him who desires to have fellowship with us so much so that He sent into this world His only begotten (in relation to parent) Son into this world so that we may have the right to become sons of daughters of God and experience that relationship with God. Having the Spirit of the living God cry out in our hearts "Daddy"; that is, we have the relationship for which He desires.

Today is the day of salvation! There is no better time than now.

Dance organizations in the United States are nearly always struggling.  There are lots of complicated reasons for this - government belt-tightening on arts funding, poor management of non-profit finances within the company, or an uncertain economy forces audiences to stay home and watch dance on tv rather than attend a live performance.  In addition to yearly pledges and donations from generous supporters, dance companies rely on funding and attendance to continue their mission, and many are falling short of their goals.

One such dance organization in Texas is in desperate need to raise funds.  The Texas Ballet Theater calls the Dallas/Fort Worth area home and their mission is to provide "unprecedented talent, beauty and artistic expression, as well as the highest levels of dance education, training, and appreciation to North Texas and surrounding areas."  Although I live about 5 hours away in Houston, I would hate to see this organization go under.

The company apparently needs to raise over $300,000 in cash alone (not pledges) by September 10 or face bankruptcy or closing its doors. To do so, Texas Ballet Theater is holding two major fundraisers.  The first is a giant fundraising sale, silent auction, and raffle this weekend at their studios and the second, is an event called Rock the Ballet featuring dancing, food, and bands to be held September 19 in Fort Worth.  For more information on these events, please visit Get Behind Your Ballet. Also, Texas Ballet Theatre will be presenting new and traditional works at The Majestic in Dallas for their annual Gala on September 12  and have planned performances for October and beyond, assuming they are not forced to close their doors.  As always, the company accepts donations - none are too small (particularly now), and you can even download a printable contribution form for your tax-deductible offering.

I have no affiliation with the company or with professional ballet, for that matter, however as a fellow artist and dancer I particularly empathize with the dancers and dance students in this situation.  Faced with losing their jobs in an already unlucrative career, the company members have taken their campaign for donations door to door to help raise money for the organization.  Little has been said of what will happen to the school which operates within the TBT organization but it may be safe to assume that these kids could also be without a dance home if company debts are not paid.  It seems that a series of events that had little to do with these dancers led to the current situation in which the Texas Ballet Theater finds itself.  If you can show your support in some small way, I would encourage you to do so.

Then, your outside in the very fresh air, and your lady friend has been refused entry to every venue. Its cold, foggy, your tired and your mate wants to go home. She however wants to demonstrate how drunk she is. Here was an example of gentlemanly behaviour from some of our youth who were obviously just trying to go home. Bloke 1 gets her a bottle of water and says you need to get hydrated or you will be sick. Bloke 2 takes her handbag (a very uncool thing for any guy to do, let alone youth) and tries to steady her. They both offer her respectable assistance and she is obviously a close friend to them. In her drunken stupor she reacts by taking her jacket off and attempting to reveal her upper torso. The gentlemen quickly reattach the apparel and try to shuffle her away to a taxi, but she is unrepentant. This continues on for a long time – to long for me to watch. It was heart warming to see young guys keeping this young lady’s dignity in check.

Nothing like drinking from a cask without a glass to market how drunk you are. Yes, walking along the street, head tilted back like the Reach cartoon character with the flip top head, guzzling away from a cask! No surprise this person did not get in – to anywhere!

People sometimes think that even though you have been refused entry, that you can still get in with extenuating circumstances; for example toilet needs. I remember as a new bouncer taking pity on a lady who needed the ‘loo’ desperately but was inappropriately dressed. I let her in only to find she just wanted to drink and party. Now when these people ask and get refused even though they are ‘busting’, it may seem inhumane to suggest the local public conveniences, but hey, we only get tricked once.

BHUBANESWAR, September 5 (Compass Direct News) – Asserting that most area Hindus are tolerant and peaceable, victims of ongoing anti-Christian violence in the eastern state of Orissa blamed the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (World Hindu Council or VHP) and other extremist groups for the terror of the past two weeks.

“The mobs that attacked our parishes and institutions were largely composed of extremists from the VHP and its youth wing, Bajrang Dal,” said Bishop Sarat Chandra Nayak of the Behrampore Catholic diocese.

At least four parishes, a presbytery and a youth hostel were destroyed in Munniguda town in Rayagada district under the Behrampore diocese in the spate of violence that began following the killing of a VHP leader, Laxmanananda Saraswati, and four of his associates in Kandhamal district on August 23. Christian leaders say more than 100 lives have been lost and thousands of houses, churches and institutions damaged or destroyed in the violence.

The state government attributed the assassination of the VHP leader and his associates to Maoists who have since claimed responsibility for the murders, but the Hindu extremist groups continue to blame Christians.

Asked if he condemned the violence on Christians, VHP Orissa State President Gauri Prasad Rath told Compass that he categorically did not.

“You should ask me to condemn the killing of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati and his associates with AK-47s by Christians,” he said.

While the Global Council of Indian Christians says more than 100 people have been killed in the violence, the Kandhamal District Collector’s Office told Compass that the death toll is only 14 people. The office reports 22,685 people are in relief camps in Kandhamal. The same office has also reported that 2,400 buildings have been destroyed in the mayhem, though Christian leaders believe the total is much higher.

Hindus Protected Christians

Father Mathew Puthyadam, a Catholic priest in Phulbani town in Kandhamal district, told Compass that local Hindu families gave him shelter.

As mob of around 4,000 people was carrying the body of Saraswati in a procession outside his church on the night of August 24, he said, he first sought shelter with Christians.

“When the mob was destroying my parish [Christ the King Church], I went to the house of parish workers nearby and hid in a broken bathroom,” Fr. Puthyadam said. “The mob somehow came to know that the house belonged to Christians, and they launched an attack on it. They beat up the two boys who live there, but they managed to escape. Thankfully, they did not come to the bathroom.”

About an hour after the mob left, Fr. Puthyadam came out to the street to see if it was safe for him to leave.

“A Hindu lady told me some extremists were still roaming around,” he said. “She asked me to hide in her kitchen and gave me food to eat.”

Later, Fr. Puthyadam fled to a forest, and finally came to the Archbishop’s House in the state capital, Bhubaneswar.

“Many among the mob were goons and thieves who were seemingly led by extremist groups,” he recalled, saying he felt he had gotten a “second life” as he could have been killed.

Another priest who managed to reach Bhubaneswar after a seven-day journey from Onjamundi village in Kandhamal district praised local Hindu families for protecting him.

“On the evening of August 25, a mob of 300 people who were armed with pistols, chisels and sticks, started burning houses and churches,” said Father Laxmikant Pradhan, a Catholic priest. “We could see thick smoke rising from all around. But Hindu families in the village asked Fr. Prabodha Kumar, my associate, and I to hide in their homes.”

Ravindranath Pradhan, a 45-year-old former soldier of the Indian Army, told Compass that VHP supporters attacked Christian houses in his village of Gadragaon in the Rupagaon area of Kandhamal.

“We know the attackers – they are from the VHP,” he said. “We have named them in our police complaint.”

Pradhan and 113 others reached Bhubaneswar on August 28 after walking for four days from Gadragaon. The homeless Christians were given shelter in a YMCA center in the capital city.

Creating a Rift

Some Orissa locals believe the extremists meant to create a rift between Christian missionaries and lower-caste tribal peoples known as “Other Backward Classes” (OBCs).

Prabhu Kalyan Mahapatra, a local Hindu and freelance journalist, told Compass that he did not think the violence was the result of what media are portraying as a Hindu-Christian “clash.”

In Kandhamal, there are OBCs who are lower castes but not “outcasts,” Mahapatra said, noting that the OBCs were mainly traders, while Dalits and tribal peoples were laborers and the poorest of the poor. He said the OBCs exploited Dalit and tribal people.

“However, Christian missionaries provided education to Dalits and tribals, which was not liked by the OBCs for obvious reasons,” he said, pointing out that several people from Dalit and tribal backgrounds had risen to become bureaucrats and members of parliament because of education provided by Christian institutions. “And the VHP took advantage of the situation and created a rift between OBCs and Christian missionaries.”

Mahapatra said that locals’ tolerance for Christian converts made Hindu-Christian conflict an unlikely reason for the violence. A Christian convert, Madhusudan Das, was recognized by the people of all local communities as the “father of modern Orissa,” he said.

Das, a lawyer, social reformer and patriot, worked for the political, social and economical uplift of people of eastern India, especially Orissa, and contributed numerous articles and poems both in Oriya and English.

“If the people of these communities respect a convert [Das], how can you say the Hindus of Orissa are not tolerant?” he asked.

Mahapatra explained how the VHP extended Saraswati’s funeral procession to incite violence.

“The funeral was taken from Saraswati’s ashram [religious center] in Jalespeta to his other ashram in Chakapada in Kandhamal, covering around 134 kilometers, when the distance between the two ashrams is merely 70 kilometers,” he said.

The attacks on Christians began during the funeral procession, he added.

New Tensions Feared

The Orissa government yesterday put a ban on rally planned by the VHP to take the ashes of Saraswati in another public procession throughout Orissa villages beginning on Sunday (September 7), according to the Press Trust of India news agency.

The ban was announced by the state government in hearing of a petition filed by Archbishop Raphael Cheenath from Orissa in the Supreme Court of India. The state government, however, fears fresh trouble on Sunday, as it is believed that the VHP may still go ahead with the processions.

“The state government has decided to rush additional force to the riot-affected areas in view of VHP’s proposed ‘kalas puja’ [worship of the remains of a deceased] of slain Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati,” reported The Indian Express newspaper today.

According to the Evangelical Fellowship of India, mobs led by extremist groups are “roaming in Kandhamal and threatening the Christians to ‘reconvert’ or face death.”

Christians from various denominations will fast and pray for the Christians in Orissa on Sunday.

The VHP and the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party, a partner of the ruling government led by the Biju Janata Dal party, continue to blame Christians for the killing of Saraswati and four others in spite of the Maoist claim of responsibility for the assassination.

Saraswati allegedly incited the attacks on Christians and their property in Kandhamal during last Christmas season. The violence lasted for more than a week beginning December 24, and killed at least four Christians and burned 730 houses and 95 churches.

The 2007 attacks were allegedly carried out mainly by VHP extremists under the pretext of avenging an alleged attack on Saraswati by local Christians. Hundreds of Christians were displaced by the violence in Kandhamal, and many are still in various relief camps set up by the state government.

Christians make up 2.4 percent of Orissa’s population, or 897,861 of the total 3.7 million people.
