Anyway, με τα πολλά καταφέραμε και μπήκαμε στο mozilla.com και σιγά σιγά βλέπαμε και το κυρίως site, spreadfirefox.com. Κατά τις 11 εγώ κατάφερα και έκανα download το firefox-3.0.tar.bz2 για Linux/Ubuntu στα Ελληνικά, αν και τώρα που το ξανασκέφτομαι θα τον ξανακατεβάσω στα αγγλικά. Τα ελληνικά δεν ήταν διαθέσιμα από την αρχή - περίπου μετά από 1-2 ώρες καταφέραμε και τα είδαμε.

Πάντως από τις 8 μέχρι τις 11+ το Twitter (και φαντάζομαι το Plurk+Pownce) είχε πάρει φωτιά. Μια φορά "έπεσε" για περίπου 1 λεπτό (τουλάχιστον σε εμένα). Από τα 30-40 twitts που είχα πριν τις 8 τώρα έχω 81. Τα 35 περίπου ήταν Firefox related twitts. :-D Κάθε περίπου 15 δευτερόλεπτα έβγαιναν στο summize 30-40 twitts για τον Firefox 3. Live Twitter search dude!

Πολλά FTP/Direct/Torrent URLs βγήκαν στη φόρα και όλοι ήθελαν να κατεβάσουν από εκεί την 3η αλεπού, αλλά τα περισσότερα ήταν fake (εκτός από ένα FTP link -το official FTP της Mozilla- που το βρήκε ένας φίλος του Paul Stamatiou) και όλοι ξεχνούσαν το Guinness World Record attempt. Ειδικά στο air.mozilla.com υπήρχαν πολλοί spammers με Tinyurl links (urlBorg r00lz) που ήταν και καλά servers της Mozilla σε Kίνα και κάτι τέτοια.

Όπως και να έχει, παρά το crash των server και τα υπόλοιπα, ήταν ωραίες "στιγμές". Με 6 tabs ανοιχτά, spreadfirefox.com, mozilla.com, air.mozilla.com, twitter, summize search @scobleizer, summize search @stammy εκ των οποίων τα 2 πρώτα συνέχεια σε refresh μπας και πιάσουμε "γραμμή" και μπορεί και κάποια άλλα αν θυμάμαι καλά, και κάνοντας την διαδρομή τηλεόραση-euro2008 προς PC και ξανά πίσω, ήταν ωραία.

Firefox 3 downloads by the time I write this post, 4,821,045!!! Και κάπου είδα και για 5.000.000+.

Finally, at about 00:35 HRS IST, this download page was accessible and I promptly clicked upon the Download link for the en-US/Win32 version. The 7.1 MB download took a little over a minute and when it was ready, I was in two minds as to whether should I uninstall the older version or overwrite it! I eventually chose the latter and boy! was the installation quick! The mandatory extension-compatibility check took a while (since I have many of them) and I was a tinge disappointed to see many favourite extensions not making the cut! Hopefully, the makers will scale upto 3.0 soon. Once installed, I quickly tweaked some settings and am good to go....and this is my first post from the latesht and fastesht and coolesht browser - Firefox 3.0.....FTW!

First Impressions:

• Itz lightning fast...seriously, I never logged onto my Dashboard this fast!
• The 'New Tab" button to the left of the tab-bar is gone! Instead, there's a 'Undo Close Tab' button!
• Tabs are bigger than in 2.0. The Opera influence???
• One-Click bookmarking and two-click categorizing and tagging of oft-visited sites.
• Revamped Add-ons page - Search for new ones, Update existing ones, view installed plug-ins (plug-ins, not add-ons)...all in one page.
• Uncluttered status-bar. Add-ons that are displayed on the status bar go unobtrusively to the rightmost corner. Progress bar too goes right-wards.
• No AdBlock :(
• The memory leak has NOT been fixed!!! 3.0 still hogs up 70+ MB of my RAM!!! :evil:

More as I continue using it further...

As of now, I should get back to the Italy Vs. France EURO 2008 game...Italy leading 1-0 with France down to 10 men :D

Update 2:55PM - Ya esta listo y está bajando entre ~200 a 300 kbps.

Update 2 - parece que el error era causado por saturación de los servidores que resuelven getfirefox.com a la pagina de mozilla.com, la que no tiene problemas hasta el momento con la demanda. Ahora ambas estan en línea y yo posteando desde Firefox 3.
