There are a lot of great shows scheduled for October in Dallas. For up to date information on concert schedules, new performances and tickets we highly recommend the use of a reputable ticket broker. There are concerts, sporting events and theater shows taking place in Dallas every night of the week and it can be very difficult to keep track of all the events on your own. Regardless of where you ultimately purchase your tickets from one event or venue to the next, it pays to see what the ticket brokers are featuring and leave the information to the experts.

So I'm not so secretly in love with a website called "This Week In Blackness." Now usually the "host" talks about all sorts of politcal stuff and brings a little humor and truth to the forefront, but on this particular clip, he brings up a very true point.
Are we Actually listening to WORDS of songs anymore?? When we take away the beat some of these songs advocate, sexual harrassment, assault, rape and all sorts of other horrible acts!

Although it's a serious point, he does have funny delivery

So I'm fighting sleep and flipping channels, when what to my wondering eyes should appear but Katee Sackhoff, playing a teenage mother lecturing other vacant-eyed teenage girls on how awful teenage mom-hood is in the '98 afterschool special flick Fifteen and Pregnant. So if you want to conjure an image of Starbuck as a teenage redneck with a baby and a future on skid row in small-town USA, now you know where to go. By the way, this was her film debut (and you can tell)

Edit: and I should have actually looked at the cast list, because the female lead is ...drumroll... a very young-looking Kirsten Dunst!

[caption id="attachment_233" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="big black calming for the storm ahead, on his congas"][/caption]

Black, as he's known to his friends, has played with most of the "old guard" jazz greats, including Miles, Dizzy, and my personal favorite keyboard artist, McCoy Tyner. Black's brother, an eclectic musician (gone for some years now) named Fish Ray, who played a home-made instrument that looked like a cross between a tin washtub and a broomstick-neck bass fiddle, which he jubilantly played with the original Lord Flea's band, back in the day when calypso was the true voice of the people. the people i'm speaking of were mostly island-types, but also from all other walks of life (and all races) where, just as today, movement and dance are just as integral with human expression as the sound of instruments, including the soulful one of the human voice, singing the joys of life, as well as its pains. yet when Lord Flea chose to sing about the pain of life, he sang with great joy, still.

[caption id="attachment_235" align="aligncenter" width="252" caption="the sound of life's joy, life's gratitude...life's dance"][/caption]

Big Black is practically the only one left of that era, when Lord Flea rocked people's hearts, and Fish Ray made everyone want to jump up and shout, and Big and Fish's sister, Becka, that gorgeous nubian princess, caused a sensation with her rendition of the "sand dance," an erotic slice of rhythm and physical stamina performed, on a patch of sand placed on a shiny stage, to the blood-current-tingling sounds of Lord Flea's calypso band.

check out you tube's Lord Flea clip. you'll know what i mean when you see it. the early ones who knew that music was to celebrate the spirit, and uplift the soul.

[caption id="attachment_240" align="aligncenter" width="270" caption="the dance of life: we"][/caption]

black invited us to come and help him celebrate being inducted into the jazz All-Stars, the veritable Hall of Fame for the greats, featured at the savannah jazz festival. we enjoyed hearing him and all the All Stars Band play, and all the other fabulous musicians, including the jazz band of the university of florida, and simone, nina simone's sensational daughter (oooh, love those neat coppery coily-dreads!), whose lusty voice was strong and will be heard a lot more, i dare say.

[caption id="attachment_236" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="jazz festival attendee...with lots of interesting features"][/caption]

meanwhile, back at the flea ranch, mom has suffered a slight set-back. i've been busy rushing back and forth to doctor and hospital, and we finally determined she's had a TIA, a transcient ischemic attack, which is sort of like a "mini stroke" but much less severe than that implies. all of a sudden she couldn't finish her sentences, was confused, and grew increasingly scared about what was happening to her. terror set in when she tried to pay her bills and numbers just swam in front of her eyes.

[caption id="attachment_238" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="the life of the party at her surprise 90th, mom just two weeks ago"][/caption]

life can change...for all of us...in just the blink of an eye.

mom is fine now, thanks, but ... she's been given a clear warning sign from the Great Beyond, that she has to make some major changes (diet, exercise, mindfulness, calming herSelf into let-go-let-God-ness) if she wants to live to her 91st birthday. which we're all sure she will.

she's a strong, incredibly self-reliant person, and i'm very sure i wouldn't be half the artist, writer, and spiritual warrior that i am today, if i hadn't been raised by this particularly unique, lithuanian-descent woman (well versed in all the pagan-catholic fairytales that that culture embraces)--my mom. i don't want to lose her, now that i've finally found, and accepted her.

thanks, mom. it's a pleasure and a delight to be able to give you some loving support in your time of need. for years, i couldn't. now i'm strong enough, well enough, and self-reliant enough, like you, to pay back just a small portion of what you've given me all these years. i love you and i accept that i had to be raised by someone so different from me, in order for me to find out who i really was.

[caption id="attachment_239" align="aligncenter" width="450" caption="a mother-daughter kind of thing: ancestry, from embryonic to the highest possible...and everything in between"][/caption]

i send love and Light, healing and invigorating, and filled with joy...to each and every one of us,

lord flea, your pal

[caption id="attachment_304" align="alignnone" width="500" caption="click the Image, I dare you, I stared at it for minutes"][/caption]

I wonder what kind of candy would be given out if hoellege age chicks went around trick or treating? Wouldn't that be a sight to see. I bet you would see a whole lot more dads walking around keeping their tykes safe from marauders and child snatchers inappropriate? maybe. Care? definitely not. Hmm, then there runs the chance of the mothers and wives, mobilizing in some sort of anti-hoelloween version of M.A.D.D. , taking offense to all the fathers, and partners, going out ogling all the candy porn out there. If your wondering where this is going, i'll let you know, it's going right here, just wanted to say candy porn to lead into the fact that I fraquing loooooove candy corn. Sugar, corn syrup, and water and cooked them into a slurry; Fondant added for texture; marshmallows providing the soft bite. then all the different sizes, shapes and colours*. What's not to like. As much as I loooove it I hardly ever eat it at any time besides around halloween, I am pretty sure it is available at all times, I am considering stockpiling some corn of candy this season. Speaking of stockpiling, remember the people that used to leave a bucket of candy at the door with a note saying you should take one since they were either not there, not allowed by law to talk to kids (yes I went there again and I still don't care) or the third option that they could not be bothered to pretend to like your cheap ass costume but were still enough of a Lemming to feel they would not be doing their part in society without spreading the candy joy? Remember how you would sprint up to the bowl, excited that you would have a half time preview of the nd of the night goodness that is digging through a bunch of candy for what you like best, instead of the coin flip** that a knock on the door and a hand full of candy was? Remember finding the bowl, empty because some douche kid had taken them all? That kid was me, I got there and found shit candy (Tootsie Rolls) and instead of fleeing in terror as i believe all people should from the horror that is Tootsie roll, I took all the bowls contents in order to assuage my anger, disgust and disappointment by pelting costumed children, like you, with them. I kid I kid, you I did not live by you, I did not take the candy, but who wouldn't stoopid absentee adults, pedophiles*** and passive participators, "just take one," Ha! being hopped up on sugar and dressed as little demons will all of a sudden make kids and young teens start caring about each other.

I Intended to give some more recipes on how to make candy and talk more about its many virtues and dark hidden evils and untruths, but I tire of this. Halloween is 25 days away, on to costume ideas.

Since Hoelloween is going nowhere, why not organize a candy porn party, pretty much just your regular college age Halloween fare + Candy.

Ladies, I use the term loosely, if you must Hoelloween (punny haha loose, hoes? get it...) it up instead of going as one of the cliche go toes, like sexy nurse, why not go as a Foxxy Love (costume) from Drawn Together. If you have not seen the show do yourself a favor, go find it watch it, bring friends. If you would like to challenge yourself this Halloween, you could try and hoe up Strawberry Sweetcake or to be different without having to think too much of how to wear less, gender bend as Xandir (costume).

Costumes for everyone: Candy! M & M's are always good, but you can try different takes on them. as a group you can go as 3 musketeers and be both the french and candy. Or one person the two people be the letter m and one an ampersand, here are pictures of candy costumes

*See how I spelled colours there? I remember coming to the states from Kenya, where which the country formerly one of the colonies of the United Kingdom , I had learnt my English. I was rather dismayed to find that they did not use the letter 'U' in their spelling. I remember thinking, "What's wrong with you, what did U do?" or was it "What's wrong with U, what did you do?!" It was none, I was not that punny as a sixth grader, but I am bringing the U back. I do not mean "the U," I cannot bring that back, remember how dominant they used to be?

**ever need to flip a coin when online? I have and after you bookmark this link I am sure you will find reasons to flip a coin or two online, just like if you'd find reasons to use a huge well financed and trained army if you had one, because you know that's what it's there for.

***I referenced the a taboo subject 3 times, without any remorse. Your allowed to hate me know, since I don't care about you anyway. Kidding, unless its you Kali...so not my favorite.

He's crazy! Eddie Van Halen is getting married again, and this time it is to his publicist/girlfriend Janie Liszewski. He proposed on vacation in Hawaii, and of all places a Tiffany & Co. Was he topless as always?

Janie, soon to be Jaine's Crying, is 38 and a former stunt woman and actress. Her career highlights are having been in Spider Man 2 and in an Enrique Iglasias "Be With You" music video.

She's a little stupid to be marrying an old man with 2/3 of a tongue and a bad bad case of alcoholism. Is he finally over the booze? I hope so. I never want to see another picture of him like this again:

I saw Eddie last October (And in 1986) and that entire concert was a holy experience, where I watched many grown men cry. I was amazed by his solo's and I have read that he was sober. I LOVE EVH for the pure joy his music brought to my life for many, many years. I still remember the day I first head him play guitar. It was @ Wildwood Park, Madison Heights, MI, 1979. Wow! I have a clear picture of listening to that entire tape with my neighbor Wayne. I was hooked. I was in love. I wanted his babies, and I was only 8 years old ...

Who is this Jamie woman? I had to find out more ...

She also has her own cute website www.janiesgotagun.com where I learned she was a stunt double for J.Lo and I found out she is Latin, Middle Eastern, Native American, Eastern European, and has also worked as a firefighter and EMT.

Hmm. Is is still cool to be married to someone who once was the hottest thing in town? I'm not sure...

We are now 4 episodes deep inside season 3 of Heroes, and things are starting to turn from dog shit to wow. Honestly, I was ready to drop this show for good. Thank you Lord Ohmars. You saved me from making a colossal mistake.

Most of tonight's episode was spent four years in the future, in a time when just about everyone has an ability. Clair shot and killed future Peter, and is working with Daphne (the fast chick), the Haitian, and the dude who gets his strength from fear. She had Daphne go to Molly Walker to pin point where "normal" Peter went.

Peter, after visiting Mohinder fly and reading his mind, headed to Costa Verde in California to find Sylar and get his power. This was what made the show good, Sylar had a child (named Noah, which made me wonder about Clair's dad) and was dawning an apron whilst cook'n up some waffles. We learned a bit more about Sylar, now Gabriel since he's not a killer no mores. It seems that the evil part of him runs hand in hand with his ability. Peter made him paint the future, and gained Gabriel's ability at the same time. After a little Yoda-esque training session, Clair showed up, the shit hit the fan, little Noah was killed, and Sylar went boom boom. Good bye Costa Verde.

This is where I got a little confused. Parkman was taking a weird spirit walk, and we were seeing the future the same as him. So does this mean that Peter doesn't have Sylar's power, or that he only got to see what was going on? Please comment and fill me in, because I'm perplexed.

Things are going bat-fuck-crazy on this show. This far in it's good that it's like this. If they had only slowed down the action-fest in the first two episodes, it would've been a little easier to digest all that info. It's still moving a little fast for my taste, but at least the show is getting better (with the exception of Mohinder).

I would love to rant and rave all night about the few amazing parts of tonight's zany episode, but this man needs to go and make some cash. Yes folks, it takes money to get the horrible movies I watch to warn you about. So until next time.....GO TEAM VENTURE!
