descenso hasta la costanera

el tiempo pasa de otra manera en itacare. las mañanas pasan lentas, y para aprovecharlas, una de las mejores opciones, es una combinacion de caminata, y al llegar al destino, a tan solo 15 minutos de la posada mandala, y de la praia da concha, ustedes llegaran a una de las praias mas hermosas y pequeñas de bahia. solo tienen que seguir el camino de adoquines, construido en la época colonial portuguesa, como mucha de la arquitectura existente en itacare. 

la praia resende, con una extension de aproximadamente unos 100 metros, atrapada entre dos morros (elevaciones de piedra), es el lugar ideal para aprender a hacer surf, porque sus olas, aunque fuertes, no alcanzan para frustrar al aprendiz con su violencia.  sin embargo, no es lo unico que esta praia tiene para ofrecer.

sus coqueros infinitos, sus jugos de caña helados, su arena con la textura de talco, y su vista dramatica del horizonte lejano, en combinacion con la tranquilidad y el clima perfecto, haran que vuelvan una y otras y otra vez. pero aun quedan tantos lugares bellos, que quizas no tengan tiempo...

el dia comienza temprano en esta aldea de pescadores. creo que a las 5 de la mañana hay una porcion grande del pueblo arriba, haciendo cosas, mientras los que estuvieron despiertos de fiesta se van a dormir, se cruzan en la avenida castro alves, tambien conocida como la "orla" que es la costanera, y se saludan, cuando el sol sale,  y algunos dicen: buenas noches! desde un pedazo de tierra que queda a 15 metros de la posada mandala, la gente puede ver los mejores amaneceres que nacen en el lado del mar, y los mejores atardeceres, dramaticos y cortos, a las 5:30 cuando empieza a anochecer, con el sol muriendo en el rio da contas. es que itacare tiene la magia de tener rio, y tener mar.

la posada mandala, curiosamente, esta justo en el encuentro de sus aguas. en estas fotos, podran apreciar solo lo que una camara puede transmitir. sin embargo, los olores, las texturas, los sentimientos, y la energia que el ser humano puede absorber de estos momentos, solo pueden ser experimentados en persona.

esta es la praia da concha, y ese pedacito de tierra que es tan poderoso, por dominar esos dos momentos que son isnignia en la bahia. cuando vengan, tendran tiempo de reflexionar sobre el acontecer de sus vidas, y podran mandar sus deseos a flotar en el crepusculo o en el amanecer, y dejar que ese deseo flote por aguas dulces, y pase al inmenso oceano atlantico, para dar vueltas por el mundo, hasta finalmnte reencontrase con ustedes.

en la posada mandala, lo estaremos esperando para que se deje influenciar por la calidez bahiana.

itacare promete ser unimportante  centro cultural bahiano, y tiene muchas cosas para ofrecer.

He is here by default because the Nets opted for youth in trading for him when they sent the aging Jason Kidd to the Dallas Mavericks last season. Then they became even younger during the off-season when they added three rookies to their roster.

Harris is here by destiny because it is a challenge he has prepared for. Even though the former Mavericks coach Avery Johnson held restraints on Harris, the leash was starting to lengthen near the end of their Dallas tenures.

On a team that has a whopping seven players with less than two years of N.B.A. experience, Harris, a floor-burning point guard all of 25 years old, is the atypical, game-tested veteran.

“Next to never,” Harris said of the last time he had been in this setting. “This is a new kind of situation for me, only being five years in, but probably being one of the most experienced guys out there.”

That experience showed Saturday, as it did through most of early September as nearly all of the Nets convened to get a jump start on the season. Harris, with Vince Carter, encouraged their teammates throughout practice, pushing them here, pulling them there.

It will have to continue in the coming months if the Nets are to show promise and deny the dismal forecast skeptics have cast on their season.

“Being a leader is very, very hard for this reason: you have to be the same guy virtually every single day,” Nets Coach Lawrence Frank said. “When things are not going well for the team, when things aren’t going well for you, when there’s a heap of criticism upon you. So leading is tough. It’s hard, but he’s up for the challenge.”

Things did not go as planned last season when Harris joined the team in February. An ankle injury hobbled him, and learning a new offense midseason hindered him. By his own account, Harris labeled his defense lackluster.

“There’s no question about that,” said Harris, who averaged 15.4 points and 6.5 assists in 25 games as a Net last season. “Whether it’s injuries or not, I’m not making excuses.

“I’ve got to keep guys in front of me like I know I can and like they know I can. And I’ve got to be better at that.”

Once the season ended, Frank and Harris kept in touch, talking throughout the playoffs.

Frank offered Harris the keys to a revamped offense based on using Harris’s quickness, and they met in Chicago to diagram the best route for the pair to return to the postseason together.

With the infusion of youth, it may be hard to notice, but the Nets did add serviceable veterans, players who can teach and have been there, done that, in Keyon Dooling, Jarvis Hayes and Eduardo Najera.

But all have peaked in their professional careers. With Harris, the Nets will rely on a point guard who may be one playmaking step from ascending to the elite level, joining the likes of the Utah Jazz’s Deron Williams and the New Orleans Hornets’ Chris Paul.

“He is definitely capable and he’s ready for it,” Carter said. “You can just tell from his approach. Just talking to him and him wanting to step into that leadership role and be a part of it.”

Carter added: “And then just talking to him this summer and yesterday, he’s ready. That’s what he wants to do, and we’re all going to help each other to get to the next level.”

Para el actor es desconcertante que la mayoría de los centros de aborto se encuentren en los barrios habitados por hispanos y los medios de comunicación en español estén saturados de anuncios a favor del aborto.

"El aborto no solamente es un negocio muy lucrativo sino que también es utilizado por personas racistas como un medio para eliminar a nuestra gente ya que ellos piensan que somos una amenaza para la democracia en este país", sostiene Verástegui.

Tras recordar que de los más de tres mil bebés abortados a diario en Estados Unidos, 650 son de origen hispano, el actor señala que "el aborto es legal porque no hay suficientes hombres y mujeres que alcen su voz en contra del aborto".

Verástegui asegura que "es necesario ponerle un fin al aborto y los candidatos políticos juegan un papel muy importante en este tema".

El actor recuerda que "Obama apoya los abortos realizados durante los últimos meses del embarazo"; "apoya los inhumanos abortos por nacimiento parcial"; y "quiere financiar abortos con los impuestos que pagamos usted y yo".

Asimismo, sostiene que "como legislador, Obama votó en diversas ocasiones en contra de una ley que buscaba proteger a los bebés que habían sobrevivido a un aborto, que habían nacido vivos".

"Obama se ha comprometido en remover todas las leyes provida que actualmente en muchos estados ofrecen protección a los bebés aún no nacidos y a sus madres", agrega.

Verástegui cuestiona que Obama no esté de acuerdo en que los padres de familia sean notificados antes de que una menor de edad sea sometida a un aborto.

"A Obama le interesa más mantener la legalidad del aborto que el bienestar de los bebés, los niños y las familias de este país", denuncia Verástegui y pide a los hispanos unirse y hacer "algo para defender la vida en todo momento, desde su concepción hasta su muerte natural".

Bolton Wanderers haven't always played ugly football. Once upon a time, in the days when I first started following the club, we played brilliant, exhilarating, attacking football.

Then we got in to the Premier League and continued trying to play brilliant attacking football. Our reward? Two relegations, the second of which nearly led to financial ruin.

So we learnt to play a different way because it was the only way to survive, and it worked... we've now been in the Premier League for eight uninterrupted seasons, something that was unthinkable 15 years ago.

At some point in the future this will all change again, because that's what happens in football. Mark my words: in the future the beautiful game will return to Bolton Wanderers, whether it's in this league or another one.

When it does, it's likely we'll come up against teams whose only chance of beating us will be by bullying us and trying to put us off our game.

When that happens I hope we don't take the moral high ground with those clubs. I hope that instead of whinging about 'not getting enough protection from referees',  we remember that once upon a time we used to do exactly the same thing.

Unfortunately, Arsenal fans have been sitting on their 'we play proper football' moral high ground for so long that they've forgotten they once played crap football too, and that everyone hated them for it because it brought them success.

More importantly, they've forgotten that one day Arsene Wenger will no longer be their manager, and that sooner or later they will play negative football again.

In an article headlined 'Bolton F****** Wanderers' (an exclusive! no less), Arsenal fanzine The Online Gooner rips in to Bolton Wanderers for 'kicking Arsenal off the park.' It's worth reading all the way through for a laugh (the opening jibe about Danny Shittu must have taken him ages think up), but here are the highlights of author Mark Halfpenny's gripes:

1. The north of England is chilly (the game was played in glorious sunshine).

2. Kevin Davies' tackle on Gael Clichy (who got a bruised shin and is expected to be back in the Arsenal line-up again this Saturday) was just as bad as Martin Taylor's last season on Eduardo (who suffered a broken leg that has kept him out for months).

3. Setanta's summariser Craig Burley defended Davies' tackle because all TV pundits hate Arsenal (Burley also defended Emmanuel Eboue's offside goal because Arsenal 'deserved to score').

4. Fifa, Uefa and the FA (hell, why not get the United Nations involved too?) should crack down on Bolton for their renowned foul play (they never bothered to crack down on Dennis Bergkamp).

5. If the so-called 39th game ever took place, people in New York and Bangkok would not want to watch Bolton Wanderers (oh no, how will I sleep tonight knowing that some Malaysian bloke who's never been to Bolton in his life doesn't want to buy a Wanderers shirt? How embarrassing!)

I can only assume that when 'proper football' is a thing of the past once more at Arsenal, Mark Halfpenny and every other Arsenal fan who has slated 'Bolton F****** Wanderers' style of play over the last few years will be burning their red shirts, tearing up their season tickets and vowing never to attend an Arsenal match ever again (not that that will matter of course, with all their fans in Shanghai to make up the numbers).

Here is Iguana, one of the few places we visit that my orientation packet did not describe as "rustic:"

and my favorite, our eyelash viper.          

these are really rare, so it was amazing we got to see one.  (and yes, I am too close to it taking this picture). The one disappointment is that it is tiny, not even a foot long (and its an adult).  I was expected something massive, like the movie Anaconda.  But I suppose the fact that nature made this snake bright yellow is sufficient.  Plus note the skin around its eyes, it has formed a protruding structure (and hence the name "eyelash viper")

 My independent project starts tomorrow, and that is a photo of our model organism (a stock photo, my camera definitely wont focus that sharply).  These spiders incorporate dead insects and plant material into their webs, and we are attempting to test one hypothesis as to why they do so (the odor of decaying organic matter attracts more prey).  So its eight hours in the field watching these guys for the next five days.  Wish me sanity (and results!)

The bustle of such busy cities is so very far from where I am.  Plus she is staying for the moment in a quasi-resort on the beach, so I suppose thats a bit different as well.   Different in a very, very good way.

Cuando le pedían su opinión sobre algún tema comprometido, él respondía: "Yo argentino". Arqueólogo, musicólogo, viajero "infatigólogo", a su iniciativa debemos el simposio interdisciplinario que reunió a folkloristas y ginecólogos. El tema era "La relación entre el examen de mama y el alazán de tata". Fue en un pueblito de Salta donde Kundsen oyó por primera vez la zamba "Añoralgias" que escucharemos, cantada por una aciana de ciento ocho años a la que había encontrado en una de sus excavaciones arqueológicas. Dice Kundsen en sus memorias: La venerable mujer parecía confundirse con el paisaje. Me dijo: "Mire ese algarrobo", señalando un guanaco. En efecto, se confundía con el paisaje. Cuando ella terminó de canturrear la zamba, sigue diciendo Kundsen, le pregunté si la había aprendido de sus abuelos. Y ella me contestó: "Esta zamba la escuché en un compact que me mandaron de Buenos Aires". A continuación escucharemos, en versión de Les Luthiers, la zamba "Añoralgias".

Esta semana que hablamos de Argentina, no podemos dejar de mencionar a "Les luthiers", un grupo de musicos-comediantes argentinos de gran talento. Este post es de una obra llamada "El regreso". Para aquellos que hayan visto alguna vez alguna pelicula de Carlos Gardel, entenderan que esto es una parodia de Gardel: ambos personajes en la obra se llaman "Carlitos", cantan sobre la barandilla de un barco, mientras vuelven al puerto, hablan de la nosalgia de estar lejos de la tierra querida (Gardel en sus peliculas suele estar lejos del puerto, Buenos Aires), etc... si lo terminan de ver, notaran tambien que esto de la llegada al puerto es otra broma..

En este video podran encontrar multiples ejemplos de /b/d/g/ debiles, aspiracion de la /s/, del Ʒeismo y de la asimilacion nasal. There was even a sympathizer of Christ, a bachelor who was unfortunate to have not followed Christ's path in that he couldn't give his wealth to the poor.

It is just correct to read the preceding verses of I Timothy 6:10 and to finish reading the following verses to avoid empty conclusions. Remember that the original Scriptures were not divided into Chapters and verses. So, we should be careful to make generalizations. The Bible cited that we cannot serve two masters at the same time. We may love the first and hate the other. In this case was the love of money tied to being a root of all evil. Take note that some believers in the first century never accomplished God's plans for them because of their love of money.

Now, we try to apply that verse in today's dispensation. Does love of money affect a Christian's service to God? The answer is: certainly. In fact, many known congregations now entice members through material prosperity. Some congregations offer jobs to their members but what happens next? Tithing is being enforced - a Mosaic law which is not christianly.  Is this the only means that greedy preachers rob of their members' possessions? Not only so. Many others gain through selling published Church's books and magazines containing commentaries of the verses in the Bible. And some others publicly sell their Church music recordings. See, how these techniques aptly described in the Bible happen nowadays!

Money is per se not evil; it's your misuse of it that makes you doing evil. There are many advantages that money can do. It's pretty much declared in the Old Testament of the Bible. "Money answereth all things," as quoted. To enumerate: all your basic necessities are answered by money, even luxuries. Governments are basically founded through money - road constructions, educating the people, supplying the health needs of the poor etc. Nonetheless, money is also the intention of the corrupt politicians, government employees, swindlers, hold-up gangs, and false reporting(media and journalism). Furthermore, money can answer the need to spread the words of God throughout the world or it can be used to make superpower arms and ammunitions for world war.

The ultimate thing to do is to love God above all and using your money for the good of mankind.

Uma decisão judicial em caráter liminar (provisória), expedida nesta quinta-feira (11) pelo juiz Jederson Suzin, da 1ª Vara da Fazenda Pública de Curitiba, suspendeu o decreto 3348/2008 que nomeia Eduardo Requião, irmão do governador Roberto Requião, como secretário de Estado dos Transportes. A decisão atende uma ação popular impetrada por José Rodrigo Sade e pelo advogado José Cid Capelo Filho. A ação alega que a nomeação fere o princípio da legalidade e moralidade na administração pública.

Cuando estuve a punto de irme, me tomó de la muñeca y me preguntó qué lees?? le mostré mi libro, Fútbol a sol y sombra de Eduardo Galeano, y respondió: me lo imaginaba.

Con eso la terminó por regar, osea que cree que soy una chica que vive, come y respira fútbol y que no sirve para más, qué diablos quiere??, una nerd total que lea de literatura todo el día y que le dé hasta el pronóstico del tiempo, si que está jodido. No, ese pata murió ahi, será guapo pero se jodió. Entonces me dijo: Nos veremos en la inauguración de mi depa en diciembre, encima en cuatro meses estará a 20 minutos de mi casa, eso significará que quiere que le enseñe el vecindario, que carajos, quién los entiende?!!!!!!!!

My leg is getting better all the time and I hope to be back playing again by Christmas. It has been a long road to recovery, and there is still a lot of hard work left to do, but everything is going well and I should be back playing again soon.

That's nice to hear, I always insisted in saying that Eduardo and Adebayor were the two who should play upfront, with Emmanuel heading the balls down and Eduardo slotting them in. Considering his injury, though, I don't think he will be back firing at all cylinders before early March, but who knows? Maybe what was missing at the end of last season to win silverware may become what we will be needing at the end of this season to achieve our objectives.
