Nome: Johnny Yong Bosch

Data/Local Nascimento: 06.01.1976/Kansas City

Curiosidades:

Além de Devil May Cry 4, já dublou: Xenosaga, Star Ocean, Ace Combat 5, Wild ARMs: The 4th Detonator, Tales of the Abyss, Dirge of Cerberus: FFVII,  Valkyrie Profile e até Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, entre muitos outros;

Ele não é só conhecido como o Ranger Negro ou por seus trabalhos em games: ele também é bem conhecido pelos otakus por dublar Bleach(Ichigo Kurosaki),Trigun(Vash the Stampede) entre outros animes.Além de dublador ele também é músico: é integrante de uma banda de rock alternativo chamado Eyeshine;

Até a próxima =*

Listening to: Linkin Park - Leave out all the rest.

Watching Playing: Devil May Cry 4.

Lo so. E Io amo da sempre Devil May Cry. Braccio demoniaco a parte, mi ricorda qualcuno.

E poi... E poi... Cosa? Come dite?

My oh my, Lady has gotten sexier than before!

For those who do not follow the Devil May Cry (DMC) series, it is an uber hack and slash series developed by Capcom that follows Dante (DMC1-3) and Nero (DMC4). I've recently gotten my hands with the PC version for DMC4 and I can fairly say that it's been addictive with the wicked combos and Nero's constant sarcasm. ^^

Nero in action.

Well, as you can see from the track list, the DMC4 Special OST only comprises of chosen tracks from the game, some PVs and the vocals as well.

Direct download for the DMC4 Special OST available here.
Happy hunting!

Now i'm not the biggest fan of Devil May Cry in the world having played none of them (yet) but I am currently installing DMC4 onto the very little PS3 HDD I currently have (under 20GB). I've just been waiting for the game to install and found none other than Michael Stipe, frontman of R.E.M., hanging about the game's install screen. I have not followed the story but it seems this guy has been hanging around the series for a while. Do you recognize him?

From what i've read the guy's called Arkham but i'm dubbing him Mike. It makes him sound a hell of a lot friendlier. Ya see what I did there "hell" no... the joke fails

<Warning: If you have no played DMC4 and have no intention of playing the demo on PC and wish to avoid spoiler until the games comes out, please skip this lengthy post>

<Note: This is my 1st time i've write such demo hands on etc, please pardon my spelling mistake and grammer mistake if there is any. Any room for improvement are welcome in the comments. Thank you>

I'm a fan of DMC but i have not play the latest installment of DMC as i dont own a PS3 or Xbox360. However, i was please that Capcom has decide to release this game on the PC platform.

The demo was released yesterday (SG time) and it totally slip off my mind to download it when i came back from work. Today then i remember about this and i quickly went to download it.

The download file size is 804MB which is pretty big but since im already to download file at 1MB/Sec flat, there isnt much problem for me.

The extraction to complete installation of the demo was a bit long for my rig is only a single core, AMD Athlon64 3700+ (AKA San Diego) processor.

Before the start of the game, i was given a few options to choose. Start the game in directx 9 version, directx 10 version (gray out), controls (gamepad) and quit.

I start of by choosing gamepad as i have my wired xbox360 controller plug in. Seeing too much buttons, i freak out and went ahead to start the game.

I went to pc settings and went to video to see what settings the game had set and it was all at high quality graphics. AA was turn off and i went to crank it at 2x and hit the apply to take effect.

I was then greeted by a black screen and a bar at the bottom right corner of the screen. After sometime of waiting (maybe due to my processor) i was back at the main menu again.

Was curious of the performance test and i went in to check it out.

This performance test was a benchmark for your system. At the bottom left corner of the screen will display the current FPS, system processor, graphic card and resolution.

The 1st benchmark test i got on average of 40+ FPS. 2nd was base on forest or jungle settings and got an average of 30 FPS. The last benchmark was 30+ or 40+ FPS (cant remember). Since i dont know how long the benchmark gonna take and my hands are itch to button mash my controller, i quit the performance test with a breeze by pressing ESC on my keyboard.

Selected start the main menu and i was given 2 choices. Mission Extermination or Mission Executioner and i choose Mission Executioner.

The mission start with Nero and i shown the controls scheme but i was too lazy to read as i couldnt remember them until i know press and know each button does. The settings for this level is on a snowy place and progress a bit future and i end up dead. When you are dead, there are other options that you can choose but they are now gray out. So the only available selection is quit which will bring you back to the main menu.

After choosing that, a Coming Soon screen will appear and back to main menu.

Choose Mission Extermination this time round and immediately after the game starts, you will definitely notice a 10min countdown. After some walking, i realize the current location is the same location that was the 1st DMC4 trailer release.

There are few scenes and 1 particular caught my attention. A scene which has Nero walking towards a half ball half skull and he says "What the hell?" and it has subtitle being display. I didnt really expect a subtitle to be in there, pre-render? Not so sure about this.

With the time counting down on my last minute, i was surprise to see the location i was in. Nero is currently in the snowy place that starts of Mission Executioner.

The time gets lesser and lesser and on the 1 minute 28 secs mark, i was defeated by the same monsters that defeated me in Mission Executioner.

I have to say, the graphics looks very good despite im only running on a XFX Geforce 7800GT. Loading wise was there wasnt any i can notice of once the game starts.

I guess i will hang onto this copy of demo until the game comes out in July 8, 2008.

In the mean time, if you wish to hack and slash like me in DMC, be sure to download it from the link below and while you wait for the download to be completed, you might want to tease yourself with some screenshots that i took myself ingame.

Download: http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/devilmaycry4/demo/24273.html

Summary: Ayase Yukiya is a university student who was auctioned as 'merchandise' by his cousin, Ishii Tetsuo. Tetsuo was under pressure because he had a lot of debts - he decided to settle those debts by selling his cousin, who was sold for 1.2 billion Yen (2 billion Yen in the manga) to Kanou Somuku - a twenty-six-year-old businessman who runs a financial firm in Shinjuku. Kanou's reason for buying Ayase is because Ayase saved and cared for him four years ago. Kanou wants to protect Ayase and uses the 1.2 billion debt to force Ayase to live with him. In order to be "free" of his debt, he must sell his body to Kanou for 500, 000 yen a time.

Reaction: At first... I was frightened by it. I mean -- WHOA WHAT THE HELL! Ayase was presented at the auction like a dog - chained and naked. Eww! I was all WTF when Kanou threw the 1.2 billion yen on the floor in front of Ayase... lol he was like, "I bid 1.2 billion yen... in cash..." LOL That made me LAUGH SO HARD! Anyways, the anime only had four episodes (so far xD), so I wasn't able to REALLY appreciate it. The manga is different though... it has progressed so wonderfully! And there's actually a plot. Who would've thought? :P LOL I'm going to rewatch PAPA to KISS in the DARK nao~ 8D

Summary: Long ago, the Dark Knight Sparda rebelled against the Dark Emperor and waged a one-man war to save humanity. Thousands of years later, a religious organization worships this renowned savior and has taken upon themselves to rid the world of all evil. Residing in Fortuna, this organization is known as the Order of the Sword, and is made up of an elite group of Holy Knights. One day, a young knight named Nero witnesses Sparda's legendary son Dante slaughter his fellow warriors. Has the renowned devil hunter turned his back on mankind? What does this encounter mean for these two individuals?

Reaction: Honestly? I didn't like it that much at first. I mean... Dante became so ugly D: What happened to the kick-ass, sword-slashing, gun-wielding devil hunter we all knew and loved? D: Seriously! But I have to admit, Nero is cute *o* LOL WTF. Anyways, I wasn't supposed to play it until Big Bro finished... but he was too fascinated by the Rubik's Cube to even remember that he even bought the darn thing. I was bored, so I decided to try it... and it was AWESOME! I love the gameplay and the graphics! So cool~!! *____* Vergil isn't there... which sucks, and Dante became ugly... which sucks even more. But, it's a pretty cool game, and even though I haven't finished it -- stuck in mission 03, puzzle shet D: -- I know it's going to end rather nicely 8D

Soutaro - the black-haired dude - loves Haru - the blond - with all his heart, but Haru only married him to follow their late grandfather's will.

As part of Atari's economic turmoil last year, the publisher in July sold Hasbro back its rights to make console, handheld, and online games based on its extensive line of toys and board games. Quickly capitalizing on that move, EA moved in on Hasbro, announcing in August that it had picked up the rights to Hasbro products that Atari had just sold. In February, the first fruits of that union surfaced, with EA saying it would be making console and handheld casual games out of Littlest Pet Shop and Nerf N-Strike. At that time, the publisher also said that games based on Hasbro's arguably most recognized brands, Scrabble and Monopoly, were also in the works. True to its word, EA said today that it would adapt Hasbro's venerable capitalist-tycoon game for the Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation 2, mobile devices, and its online casual portal Pogo.com, with a release slated for this fall. Hasbro's Monopoly is hardly a stranger to the interactive medium, having appeared on various gaming platforms dating back to the NES and beyond. The latest take on the game will be modeled after Hasbro's newest board game, Monopoly Here & Now: The World Edition, and promises a "party twist" and faster gameplay as well as local multiplayer action for up to four. Players will also be tasked with various challenges and minigames to unlock new boards. Looks boardingly fun!

EA Sports is constructing one heck of an elaborate trick play for the latest installment of NFL Head Coach. Benched after a modest performance following the 2006 season, EA said in February that it would be giving the coaching sim another go this year, with Super Bowl XLI-winning Colts chief Tony Dungy fronting the cover. Dungy cover duties were promptly called into question a month later, when EA said that NFL Head Coach 09 would only be available as part of the Madden NFL 09's 20th-anniversary $90 collector's edition bundle, available August 12. Aspiring virtual skippers were apparently none too happy about the compulsory purchase of Madden NFL to receive Head Coach 09, a fact EA Sports president Peter Moore noted yesterday in his company blog. "I have to admit, even I was surprised by how much feedback we've gotten the past few weeks since we announced it as a featured item of our Madden Collector's edition," said Moore. As such, EA has said that in addition to being packed in with the $90 Madden bundle, NFL Head Coach will also be offered as a stand-alone product on September 2. Available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the game will retail for $49.99. In related EA Sports football news, the publisher also took the wraps off of the NCAA Football 09 cover athlete for the PS3 edition of the game. With Arkansas tailback Darren McFadden named to the Xbox 360 game, EA said today that Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan will grace the PS3 edition of NCAA Football 09. Now awaiting the 2008 draft, Ryan finished his career at BC as the school's all-time leader in pass completions, and was named the ACC's offensive player of the year in 2007. The NCAA Football 09 season kicks off July 15 on and will be available for the Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, PSP, and Wii.

It's fair to say that Grand Theft Auto IV's April 29 release date is a big day on the gaming calendar. Janco Partners' Mike Hickey said that the game could "conceivably" ship 9.5 million units in one week, while Variety said that GTAIV could make $400 million in revenue in the same period. Such performance is also sure to drive sales of consoles, and while the game will land on both the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360, Sony has made the first move to bundle hardware and software together at launch. A package of its 40GB PS3 console, a Sixaxis controller, and the standard edition of GTAIV will hit European stores on April 29, with a recommended retail price of £319.99 in the UK (approx $635) and €439 in Europe. Sony's package represents a £30 savings ($59) on the recommended retail price of the game and the console when sold separately, as they retail for £49.99 ($99) and £299.99 ($595), respectively. The news follows a similar announcement in Australia, where the exact same bundle is being offered for A$749.95 ($713). David Reeves, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, said, "We are delighted to offer the millions of PS3 and GTA fans the ultimate gaming package." Microsoft has not said if it will offer a package like this for the 360.

Considering Devil May Cry 3 made the move to the PC 10 months after its PlayStation 2 counterpart, the keyboard-and-mouse friendly edition of Devil May Cry 4 ruffled far few feathers than the Xbox 360 version. With the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 editions having enjoyed ample success when they launched in February, Capcom today said that the PC version of the game will ship out this summer. The PC game will benefit from an extended stay in purgatory, as it comes equipped with two extra modes, some additional content, and a variety of graphical customization opens. In turbo mode, the game will be sped up to an even faster pace than the original, while Legendary Dark Knight Mode will up the difficulty by dramatically increasing the number of enemies thrown at the player. As for visual customizations, PC gamers will be able to increase the game's resolution settings to allow cutscenes to run at 120 frames per second, up from 30 in the console versions, as well as manage various other graphical effects. DMC4 is compatible with both DirectX 9 and 10. In advance of the game's release, Capcom also said today it plans to release a demo to give gamers a chance to test their rigs against an included benchmark mode. The PC edition of Koei's Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI also received a date today. With the PS2 game out last February, Koei said today that its long-running ancient Chinese historical sim would arrive for the most venerable of gaming platforms on July 29. In the latest installment in the series, players will be transported back to China's Han Dynasty circa 2nd century A.D. The game offers more than 40 base commands and in excess of 780 "uniquely individual personalities" that players can interact with.

Before his untimely suicide in 1935, author Robert E. Howard said the "Hyborian Era" that his stories featuring Conan the Barbarian was set in took place about 12,000 years ago. Ironically, the period following the 2005 announcement of Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures has also felt like an eon, thanks to several delays. In the end, though, PC gamers will end up only having to wait three years and 10 days for the massively multiplayer game. Developer Funcom has announced Age of Conan has gone gold and is already in production. The game will launch the US on May 20 for $59.99 with a $14.99 monthly subscription fee. In Europe, the game will cost €49.99 ($79.38) with a subscription fee of €12.99 ($20.62). Not a bad price, but It's a little bit more than World of Warcraft.

Finally GreenScreen Interactive announced its presence today, saying GT Interactive founder Ron Chaimowitz will act as the company's chief executive officer. While Ryan Brant's (Take-Two founder) role in the company was not disclosed, Chaimowitz did discuss having the former Take-Two chief on the payroll with Newsweek. "Did I have concerns? Yes." Chaimowitz told Newsweek. "Did I think it was a major obstacle? No. I think that what Ryan brings is a tremendous creative and strategic vision for product. The areas that will Ryan will focus on will be in those areas. He will not--and he's not allowed to be--on the board. He's not an officer of the company. We'll deal with any particular issues that come up from an SEC perspective as we go forward, but we're fairly confident that they will be non-issues given the role that he'll play in the company." Along with the announcement, GreenScreen said it had acquired casual game publishers Destination Software and Zoo Digital Publishing. The publishers will be merged under GreenScreen's casual label Zoo Games and continue to focus on the "emerging mass-market sector," creating new and licensed family-friendly games. In Newsweek's interview with Chaimowitz, the exec hinted that the publisher may expand its reach beyond the casual market in the future. Terms of the deals were not disclosed, and no titles were revealed as part of the announcement.

Well that was today in the news!

I've been reading a lot of reviews of Super Smash Bros. Brawl that was released a few days ago and while I thought the reviews were okay they seemed a little too positive and did not list some of the weaknesses I had seen in the game from playing briefly at a friends house a lone. If I did have a Wii I would write a review myself, but, since I do not (sort of working on that...), I will recommend the best one I could find.

Over at giantbomb.com, a brand new gaming website (amazing), has written an a great review. Click Here. Make sure to check out the rest of Jeff Gerstmann's and Ryan Davis' site as well.

On another note, Devil May Cry 4 will arrive in the mail tomorrow. I'm excited to sink my teeth into an action game. I haven't played a game in this genre for quite sometime and am desperately looking forward to it! Also, to please my anime passion, Naruto: Rise of a Ninja will be arriving shortly as well.

Hey, Frayed Wire readers! This is a review Josh made on his old site, but is now being moved here!

I have never played any Devil May Cry games, so my first predictions of Devil May Cry 4 on the Xbox 360 were that it was going to be a hack-and-slash demon killing type of game. Those impressions were right, but I still never imagined it would be so arcadey and full of tongue-in-cheek humor. And I never said that was a bad thing.

I don’t really know a whole lot about the story, or if there is one. All I know is that from the second I heard the echoey, futuristic female voice proclaim “Devil May Cry” I knew that this was going to feel like an arcade game. The short, sharp rumble from the controller I felt after pressing Start added to this feeling.

Once again, I was right. Devil May Cry 4 is certainly an arcade-style hack-and-slash. It’s also quite apparent that this is a Japanese game, with the main characters sporting red coats and silver hair, a title that makes no sense whatsoever, English voice actor Johnny Yong Bosch (Ichigo Kurosaki in Bleach and Kaneda in Akira, among other rolls), and an obsession with giant swords and guns that never run out of ammo. Even the cutscenes feel like they were taken straight out of an action anime.

Arcade style games can be fun for the limited time you have to spend with them, but once you’ve played them for a while the lack of depth becomes apparent. I was afraid Devil May Cry 4 would fall into this trap. Did it? Well, this was just a demo so I can’t really make any real statements about the game. The fighting is really all about enemy attack patterns and timing, not the variety of attacks. Nero, the playable character in the demo (series regular Dante wasn’t in the demo, although he is in the real game) has three different weapons - his gun, sword, and the Devil Bringer, his deformed, glowing arm. It’s used in the demo for throws and grappling onto things/pulling enemies closer.

Now that may sound like a good variety for the kind of game this is, but the gun is practically useless against enemies, leaving the Devil Bringer and sword to do all the work. Supposedly the Devil Bringer is upgraded upon defeating bosses in the real game (which are often gigantic and purposefully over the top) , so I’m sure there’s a more satisfying variety on that.

Devil May Cry has long been a Playstation exclusive. So why has it made the jump to the Xbox 360? Maybe Capcom is worried that it won’t sell well on a system that hasn’t sold well. Even so, the Xbox 360 controller is essentially a Playstation controller with the left analog stick and D-pad switched around, so the game’s controls fit naturally. All attacks are assigned to the four colored buttons, leaving the shoulder buttons to charge up Nero’s sword and lock on to enemies.

The graphics haven’t changed much in the system leap either. Devil May Cry 4 features some beautiful environments (although in terms of level design they can be quite linear at times) and flashy effects. The 360 version of the game looks just as good as it does on its original system, the PS3.

Overall, I had fun with the demo of Devil May Cry 4, but I don’t think I’ll be spending 60 dollars on the real version of the game. It feels like a great hack-and-slash, but one that belongs in the arcade. Yes, I know it’s far too large of a game for that, but the gameplay really fails to prove itself on a console. However, it’s still worth a look for those interested in Japanese and old-school action.

So its been a month since the release of the 4th installment in the Devil May Cry series, how did it do? Well I gotta say while this game has lots of good things about it and no doubt will go down as a really solid game it just doesnt have the kick that I thought it would.

The storyline is actually really very intriguing. The game is made up of 20 missions, you play as Nero for the first 10 and then after some major drama and a plot twist you won't believe you finish the game by playing through the last 10 missions as the prodigal son, Dante. The story does enough to capture your interest and as you play through you begin to learn that NOTHING is what it seems and that is well an understatement.

From the very first battle which is against a not to happy to see you, fire breathing lion looking monster you know that the battles will be intense. And they are. I mean you do battle with Dante, a very very ugly giant toad, and a flying spider like monster and this is all in the first half of the game. The controls are very easy to learn and work well. The movement of the characters feels fluid and exact.

Artistically, the game is flawless a pure beauty just to watch. The only problem is that with the horsepower under the hood of the PS3, making a game that is gorgeous to look at is no longer the exception but rather the expectation. Plus, to date their have been several visually stunning games for the PS3 such as Uncharted and Heavenly Sword. The musical score for the game is perfectly attached to every part of the game for maximum effectiveness.

So you ask, well what really wrong with the game. Nothing really. I suppose to a lot of gamers DMC4 will be an awesome game and I concede that it does have its moments but its not a classic by any means. Its actually really exactly what you would expect from the series, a really solid game that takes few risk. For me it was, uninspiring. Its hard to explain on this one folks, it just simply did not move me to play it the way that Uncharted, Kane and Lynch, or even Conan did. If a game can't move you play it, it doesn't matter how beautiful it looks. Maybe I am on the only one out there that feels this game was missing something but hey thats how I felt about it. DMC4 is a solid line drive, but its no home run. Let me know what you think.

4.0 out of 5.0 stars

- Heldenfaktor: 89%

Jurassic Park für Erwachsene! - Turok: Rebirth [Xbox 360]: I ... am ... Turok! Back to the Roots ging. Denn nicht jeder will unbedingt online spielen. Gamerscores!
- Heldenfaktor: 71%

Bei Crom, ich sehe Nippel! - Conan [Xbox 360]: Was haben Kratos und Conan gemeinsam? Beide tragen pelzige Unterhosen "Made by He-Man". Mit solchen einfallsreichen Dialogen wie "Crush me with your Love!" oder "Where are my cloth?" gewinnt jeder muskelbepackte Barbar mit einem Verstand eines halben Toastbrottes an Erfahrung!
- Heldenfaktor: 80%

Sei es das Original Spiel Rondo of Blood oder Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

Devil May Cry 4 Trailer
gameplay wise nothing much changed but everything else is awesome. This sequel gave us what we all wanted, new weapons, new challenges and an emo kid with a devils arm. I can't simply rate how great this game is with numbers but basically anybody with a ps3 or a xbox 360 who didn't buy dmc4 deserves to be shot several times and then crucified.

continuing my lunar new year celebration. My family has a weird (in a good way) tradition, every year my family will make sukiyaki which is some sort of japanese steamboat thing (the "soup" tastes sweet and slightly saltish). I think there are many different ingredients they put into sukiyaki but the one my family makes contains mushrooms, onions, carrots, turnips, tofu, thin slices of pork, some chicken and some sort of jelly-like noodle. After we THINK the food is cooked we take it out dip it in raw egg (bet some of you wouldn't dare) and then eaten with rice. Good stuff, i think it's the only other thing i look forward to other then the free money during the lunar new year. Some pictures at the bottom (credits to evoken for the photos).

I got the chance to check out Devil May Cry 4 and Super Smash Brothers Brawl on Saturday while at a friend’s house, lucky me right? Unfortunately I suffer from a rare disease known as drink-and-play-like-a-bag-of-ass-exia. Not to mention that there was a line a mile long waiting to get a crack at all of the joy to be had at the controls of SSBM, so I had to abdicate command rather quickly. Good thing there was a Rock Band kit ready to break out; Jeebus knows you can never be too drunk for that.

SSBM

From my scant time with the game I can tell you this… there are some really good players out there. GO PRACTICE WITH MELEE BEFORE YOU PLAY THIS GAME AGAINST ANYONE! Otherwise you will lose badly. Still, I liked the game even if there is so much shit happening on screen that it’s hard to tell if your blows are even landing. Watching a Sonic/Solid Snake team get walloped by a Mario/Link duo on a Metroid –inspired level is pretty sassisfying, but I would like bit more precision. I could only imagine would come with a sixaxis or 360 controller for an input. Sigh, we always want what can not be.

DMC4

You know, to be honest, I’ve never been that big a fan of Dante’s wise-cracking, demon-slaying or white haired bang-flipping. I’ll take the torso rending exploits of Kratos over Dante’s perversion of classic European literature any day. But I gotta give the game credit. It felt really fun. I’m chalking 51% of it up to the television it was running on (a huge, sleek, and breathtaking 52 inch 1080p upscaled Panasonic) and 49% to the actual disc in the tray. After a few minutes of play as Nero, you are skilled with the basics of Genki chopping and imp skewering. I knew I was hooked during the first battle you encounter with a Balrog-esque Minatour.

In closing I would like to say that I have had very little time with these games, and still feel pretty pumped about what they bring to the table as far as gameplay (SSBB) and graphics (DMC4). If they only had Cheeves.

By Shadow Wave

©2008 Ben Cadwallader

Capcom's fourth Devil May Cry game is finally out on Xbox 360 and PS3. Does it live up to the quality of the first and third game? Or does it fall down into the pits of hell like the second game? Well the game certainly is great, but it does have some major issues which cripple the player with the moments of "why?" or "not again!"

The game brings new life to genre with a additional character named Nero; who has a demonic arm that lets him do many cool things which players have never experienced from playing as Dante. With the new good inclusion, also comes repetition, and a lot of it. Want to know more? read on.

The main focus of the game is aimed at our new character to play with, Nero. He's a member of a demonic cult: The Order of the Sword. Who's girlfriend, Kryie is also a follower. The current ceremony is interrupted by the surprise visit of Dante, who assassinates their leader. This in turn leads Nero to find and investigate the reason of his assassination and the true meaning of The Order of the Sword.

The Gameplay of Devil May Cry 4, has not changed at all from previous titles in how it's played. But, with Nero, there are not many similar moves, so even veterans may have to relearn how to play. Nero's main force of attack is by using his Devil Arm, commonly referred to as The Devil Bringer. This is basically a powerful grab and throw tool. The arm has the ability to grab enemies from afar and bring them close to you, or visa versa.

Once enemies are close you can then initiate a grab or throw depending on the enemy. which he will grab the enemy and perform quite a damaging and unique attack. The most fun part of this, is once combined with some moves such as Air Hike (double jump) you can string together many, many air combo's as all these grab moves can be performed in the air as well!

Each grab will lift you back up in the air, and once the enemy hits the ground, you just pull them back up with your arm, and repeat! The main fun of the arm is using it against bosses. Each boss at some stage of the fight will give up for a minute and take a rest, this is your queue to run up and perform a really awesome attack similar to those found in God of War, but without the button pressing so, you can actually enjoy watching these sequences. Better yet, these grabs are completely optional and each boss can be beaten without it.

The main issue with the arm, is that even though it is a single player game, it is overpowered regardless. During normal fights the arm fares pretty well against most foes and doesn't make the game seem too easy. But against bosses, I found myself using the arm for every part of the fight.

As I mentioned above, the arm can be used to stay in the air and pull yourself towards enemies. In each boss fight, all I did was stay in the air and perform the standard mid-air sword swing. This avoided 80% of attacks from Bosses, and proceeded to make each boss dead within 2 minutes. While that was cool to beat them so easy, it felt quite cheap compared to previous games which were much more difficult.

Besides the Devil Bringer, Nero comes with a sword named the Red Queen. Capcom have tried to make the sword a bit more interesting by adding a EX Gauge to the sword. This is basically portrayed as revving up your sword. Revving up your sword makes all your attacks look a lot cooler and do a bit more damage. But once again, it does not beat the power of the Devil Bringer.

Anyway you rev your sword by pressing the Left Trigger, you can rev it to light up 3 blocks next to the EX gauge. Each block corresponds to 1 attack. Which in my opinion makes the feature quite pointless. It takes about 10 seconds to rev the gauge up, but you lose all the effort in 3 attacks. But never fear, revving it manually may be a chore but, you can also raise the gauge in a lesser known way.

When attacking if you can hit the Left Trigger at the same time as your sword connects with a enemy, you will automatically gain one block on your EX gauge. If you can keep this up, you can string many of these together to perform a much stronger attack, but you have to be extremely precise. Later on you can acquire an ability to fill your gauge not by one, but up the whole way. Once this ability is acquired then the EX gauge truly becomes quite helpful.

Nero also packs a Revolver gun named the Blue Rose. Unfortunately, fans of the previous games may be totally let down as firing one standard gun hardly measures close to the coolness of Dante's Dual Hand Guns. It can do two things, shoot rapidly. Or you if you purchase the ability, you can Charge your gun for a stronger attack. I found myself not using Nero's gun very often, I mainly used in boss fights while they were running around in the distance.

Once players adjust to Nero they will find playing him very enjoyable, the pace in fighting is a beat more steady than compared to playing as Dante in previous titles. Which for some may be good, and some may not. The difficulty of this games standard mode (Human) is much more forgiving than previous titles, newcomers to the series will not have much of a hard time here. Whereas Veterans of the game will find it very easy. I completed the game without basically using a single item and I never died.

Veterans or players of the old games may notice some strange things here, which may get on their nerves. In previous titles as Dante, you would travel around and collect new weapons and abilities. But for the case of Nero, you will find this doesn't happen. Besides the first thing you acquire, most things you collect serve as a measure to complete puzzles rather than giving you a cool new arsenal.

Then a few hours in you will finally come to what you think is a new weapon to muck around with, but it terms out just to be a ability that many players would be wondering why wasn't it there earlier. While disappointed this new ability is exciting enough to be forgiving that it was not a fully fledged weapon.

About halfway through the game is when things start to turn bad. By this time, you have already seen about 90% of the environments you will explore for the second half. The brighter side to this, is you play as Dante! Dante is back as a playable character, and plays almost the same as when you saw him in Devil May Cry 3, but looking much more awesome in every way.

Dante has his 4 play styles to use in battle, Gunslinger, Royal Guard, Trickster and Sword Master. Each with their own unique abilites. This time each style can be switched to on the fly. So having to pick a specific path to follow is not a issue. Dante has his Shotgun and the famous Ebony and Ivory dual handguns to shoot foes down with. Dante also has his standard Rebellion Sword also which has basically the same moves that we have seen before. These new additions get placed on the controller to where Nero's character specific moves were.

The sudden game play change may be a slight hinder at the beginning. Getting used to a new character with very different game play mechanics can be a bit hard for people new to the series. But for veterans you'll be back in the fight after 5 minutes. Dante can be seen as a harder character to play as, as some of the cool features Nero had are gone, specifically the Devil Bringer that most players would have come to rely on. You can no longer can you pull enemies towards you, or pull off strenuous combo's in the air safe from harm. You have to rely on getting his moves down pat in your brain.

You can't help but feel cheapened when playing as Dante. It's basically as if Capcom cut the game in half, and treated you to a expansion pack. Dante will basically backtrack through every area Nero went through. Even though your having a lot of fun with Dante's new cool moves.

You wonder why they couldn't add at least one new Dante specific area which is new. But alas they do not. As all these environments you have already been through you will cruise through Dante's sections quite quickly compared to Nero's. Meaning the 2nd half of the game is a lot shorter than the first. Even most of the bosses you fight as Dante, Nero has already fought.

Dante's best part however, is they bring the game back to it's roots, Dante will be collecting new weapons and abilities throughout his playable time. This will give everyone who wanted to find some new weapons the stuff they crave. You will find some new and some old weapons, that will give players all they need to enjoy the game while playing as Dante.

Boss battles are quite unique for each fight, which is a main focus of the Devil May Cry series, in design and the way you fight them. Although none require you to think too heavily about how to kill them. They are always fun to fight. But, be prepared to fight most of the bosses in the game 3 times, which does get a bit repetitive. Because their strategy does not change at all.

Players collect Red Orbs that you find after each kill to purchase healing items and a few other goodies that keep your character alive. At the end of each mission, you will earn Proud Souls, the amount you get is determined by the ranking you receive for the complete mission. These Souls are what is spent to buy new moves and abilities. Expect to play through the game a few times to have every move available to your character. You can refund your souls at any time, should you decide you want to try out some new abilities so experimenting is a welcome part of the experience.

Players can expect to come across a standard set of environments seen in most of the series and some new unique ones such as a Snow area, and a Forrest.

Single Player can last between 8-15 hours depending on the player which is quite acceptable in today's standards. And has 6 difficulties to play in, beware some are difficulties almost impossible!

Devil May Cry's fantastic cut scenes are as good as ever, violent and action packed, expect to watch a some of these a few times as they are so well done. And are definitely going to get your adrenaline pumping for the fight to come. I don't want to spoil any of these cut scenes so we'll leave it at this: Brilliance.

Graphically Devil May Cry 4 shines, mainly due to having 60 FPS, the game runs totally smooth, and it's very noticeable and appreciated. Nothing is missed in it's animation and just looks so much more alive on your Television. The game has some shadow issues. most notably in the Forest area. Quite often shadows will be completely jagged or have lines through. your characters shadow will often be clearly blocky and it's very noticeable when you are not fighting. Thankfully 60 FPS, makes any slight problem forgivable.

The musical score in the game is almost identical to previous games, Heavy Metal aimed for the adrenaline rush, whether that being a good or a bad thing is up to the individual. I believe it's a bit too similar for my liking. Sound effects in game are not fantastic but by no means bad. The sound and music quality is raised a lot in cut scenes.

Whether your new to the series or a veteran, you'll be welcome to find the game is very enjoyable and will fill you're thrust for something different that a shooter or for the wait for the upcoming Ninja Gaiden 2. While Devil May Cry 4 has it's issues, these can surely be overlooked to what is a very enjoyable game with a lot of replayability. It's a great game that should not be skipped this year!

So I picked up Devil May Cry 4 today. I knew I was going to pick this game up therefore I decided to order a DS3 from Play-Asia. I ordered a white one because I am cool and I would know easily which is mine when people come over. First off, I love the DS3 controller. It has a better feel to it that the sixaxis and I guess I did miss rumble a bit. It fills that void I have been missing in some of my games. Now I can't wait to finish Ratchet and play through Uncharted again. I believe Heavenly Sword has it as well so I must finish that a second time.

Anyway, I popped in DMC4 and performed the mandatory install. I was lead to believe that a cool anime video of some sort would play during the install process....no it was a slide show with text and it repeated itself until it finished the install. As far as load times, well, there is about 2-3 seconds of loading in-between levels. Kinda pointless considering the 5gb install. Uncharted still is the king of seamless transition between levels and seeing no loading screens unless you died. It even had a lesser size of data stored on the HDD. Though, I guess I can't complain since DMC4 is a multi platform title. The intro scene is completely bad-ass. Actually all the cut-scenes in my 2hrs of play have been simply stellar. So I will leave my game-play at that. Time to watch a movie and get ready for wonderful work tomorrow.
