I AM SUCH... A DIRTY OYAJI XD

When I saw the ED of the first ep of R+V: Capu2 (which is actually the OP for the rest of the season), I ALMOST PASSED OUT WITH A MASSIVE NOSEBLEED.

I've already stated before in a previous entry that I ABSOLUTELY love this song, and it kicks Cosmic Love's ass by 20348203948032-fold.  BUT OMFG THE OP ANIMATION TOTALLY DESTROYS COSMIC LOVE.  For anyone who has not seen Mizuki Nana's PV of Discotheque, please do so NOW (before I hunt you down, tie you to a chair, and nail you eyes opened so you can watch it).  After that, please proceed to watching this:

My comments?  I swear, the studios have gotten a LOT better at animating dancing and singing.  This season already, I've seen two good OPs with good dancing animation: this one and Kannagi.  However, the super-tantalizing smexy power of Moka x Mizore x Rubi (star power of Mizuki Nana, Kugimiya Rie, and Chiba Saeko) was more than enough to kill me (I don't like Kurumu much... though I have nothing against Fukuen Misato)  For anyone who refuses to watch the series because it's a clear overdose of unnecessary fan service, please at least watch the OP.  I assure you, it's worth dirtying your eyes for. XD

*P.S. I apologize for not getting any good screencaps since... the credits were clearly in the way =_= just watch the vid for yourselves please.

[edit] So I actually went ahead and watched the entire episode. Favourite tid-bits:

• Saeko... erm I mean Rubi just standing there and telling her story while completely ignoring Moka and Tsukune
• Kurumu, Yukari and Mizore being GGed in terms of popularity by Moka... yet again XD
• Mizore's "love letter" LOL.

Yea... I still can't stand those stupid "Moka-san... Tsukune... Moka-san... Tsukune... Moka-san..." bits... thats like... a full minute of the episode wasted.  As for the introduction of Saito Chiwa's new character, she sounds pretty good so far, I'm interested in how she eventually gets along with the rest of the awesome cast.  One note though... I thought Nana's portrayal of Vampire Moka was a little weak.  There were parts where it seemed strained (e.g. her OKOSUNA!!! just before her kick sounded... constipated).  Oh well, I'm probably just being picky since I like the Vampire Moka XD

This is a triple-threat Nana Mizuki post for y'all! Here you can download all of her three latest singles: Trickster, Discotheque and Trinity Cross; two are in the Rosario + Vampire CAPU2 soudtrack. Btw, I love the album cover... but it kinda matches out Britney Spears' newest album Circus...

As promised, I'll put up Discotheque as soon as I have it on my hands on it...and here it is! Not only Discotheque but there's also Trickster and Trinity Cross as well! Trickster is an awesome song. It kinda has some Hirano Aya vibes in it. The MV was unique and I love her outfit there! Meanwhile, Discotheque is more mainstream J-Pop and it was very funky. The retro music video which includes a dancing police and cute retro outfits is very cute and sassy. Discotheque is definitely one of my faves from her because she tried a new thing. Btw, it would be the OP theme for Rosario + Vampire CAPU2 (OMG why did it happen to the show I despise?!)... Last but not the least, Trinity Cross, is another great and powerful song. It would be used as the ED theme for Rosario to Vampire.

Nana's higher-pitched singing voice was actually pretty cute, and wasn't as annoying as I remembered it to be. The song itself is really catchy, and the PV a lot better than many of the other seiyuu PVs I've seen so far.

Let me point out that Nana's PV actually consisted of 6 people other than herself. Compare that to any of say... Minorin's PVs. See the difference in production costs? XD I really loved Nana's whole disco outift, she looked tremendously cute in them. I was just talking to Stappy yesterday about how some seiyuu are less appealing as they age, but DAMN, Nana keeps looking better and better. I personally found her MUCH more attractive than usual in this PV with her high energy, radiant smile, and just overall cuteness.

Well, what could I say, this is absolutely one hell of a good performance by another Japanese artist since Chage & Aska. The awesome concert was staged last Saturday @ Singapore Expo Hall 1. Duration lasted approximately 2 1/2 hours.

Though visually stunning, but what really makes your ticket money worthwhile is to enjoy her powerful yet emotive vocals. The setups may not be as grand as those big international artists, but everything was of top quality,  from the stage layout, to the pyrotechnics, dancers and even with Misia's voice reaching the highest note, the PA system simply show no signs of having break ups, feedbacks or reverbations!

As for the imperfection, only three sentimental pieces, "Nemurenu yoru ha kimi no sei (My sleepless nights are your fault)", "It's Just Love" and "Everything" were sung. The rest were DJ remixes and medley. On the whole, it was more of a sing along and dance party.

Along the way, two encores were requested by the audiences. The first encore continues with more remixes whereas the last one was an unexpected one. It was when everyone were about to leave the hall that Misia reappear on stage again. For the last song, she sang "Taiyou no Malaika", track 14 of her "Eighth World" album.

Misia definitely deserve more attention the next time round. Maybe do a "Hoshizora no Live" @ some big empty field!!!

L'Amstrong Bar, la bonne surprise de Casablanca

Le premier constat réside dans la pauvreté d'offre culturelle à Casablanca : Salles de Concerts, Théâtres et Cinéma de Quartier sont aux abonnés absents. De facto, cela se répercute sur la qualité et quantité des lieux de sorties nocturnes. La scène musicale est quasiment absente à l'exception faites de quelques lieux atypiques qui se comptent sur les doigts d'une main. Ainsi l'Amstrong Jazz Bar, testé et approuvé ,fait figure d'intrus dans le paysage nocturne casablancais. Comme son nom l'indique, il doit son appelation en référence au défunt légende du Jazz, l'Américain Louis Amstrong. Situé sur la Corniche et pour un ticket d'entrée à 150 Dhs, il reçoit des groupes anglo-saxons s'éxécutant à la reprise de classiques du rock : Zombie de The Cranberries ou encore Seven Nation Army des White Stripes. L'ambiance qui se veut américaine et club de jazz, reste des plus agréables. Pour ce qui est du reste de l'Offre culturelle la nuit, c'est nada mis à part quelques festivals ici et là, notamment la dernière édition du Casa Music qui a vu Ziggy Marley ou Alpha Blondy.*

R'N'B ou... R'N'B

Il faut dire que Casablanca la nuit est aussi contrastée entre endroits traditionnels et lieux branchés adoptant les (mauvais et tristes) standards mondiaux dans le domaine. Ainsi, le choix s'arbitrera entre l'expérience d'un traditionnel Cabaret (à faire) , Danses Orientales et Chants Arabes en guise de spectacle, ou bien des Boîtes Jet-Set luxueuses passant en boucle le dernier David Guetta. L'entrée est alors moins difficile pour un expat, supposé au portefeuille bien garni (Bouteille obligatoire à 1.800 Dhs pour une table), ou un nabab Marocain débarquant avec voiture de sport et deux belles gazelles endimanchées. La dernière tentative fût néanmoins un échec pour ma part en restant à la porte du Carré Rouge. L'été, les endroits nocturnes de la Cornich sont en effet très sollicités par les MRE (Marocains Résidant à l'Etranger) qui ,avec belles voitures et paillettes, font un véritable show-off afin de mettre en avant leur "réussite". La scène devant l'entrée était typique de la nuit casablancaise à l'image de ce local qui aurait fait un très bon figurant dans un clip de Rap US : Lunettes Rayban, Grosse Chaîne et tee-shirt provocateur "Tony est mort mais le Ghetto vit encore", la panoplie était surprenante... Promis, j'irais me faire le même à Derb Ghallef la semaine prochaine et j'aurais alors le passeport idéal pour rentrer dans l'orgie !

Le VIP, le Rick's Café, le Velvet... toutes ces boîtes rivalisent de luxe pour attirer le chaland. La concurrence fait rage avec les bars des Grands Hôtels : Hyatt ou Sheraton. Lieux VIP ouverts à la prostitution ou vieux troquets glauques pour le mâle de la classe populaire, Casablanca ne connaît pas encore l'intermédiaire. A l'image du pays, la vie nocturne est terriblement contrastée entre orgie jet-set et débauche café du commerce.

Malgré tout, il faut bien avouer que ça guinche à Casablanca, surtout du côté de la Corniche, ça guinche à la Marocaine, une curiosité à approfondir dans les prochains mois.

The crowd was quite what you would expect of a disco crowd. Multi-hued hair, designer beards, heavy fragrance, clothes with dangerous cuts, faces made like a mask, fake smiles, trying to get into the groove, trying hard to flaunt, trying to de-stress, bitching, bickering and the lot. A bunch of affluent pretenders mostly.

All were too preoccupied to notice the entry of two men. These two men were dressed much like the other clubbers. Designer shirts, formal plants, shiny boots, assorted jewelery, long hair dyed and let loose etc.. But it was easy to notice they were different. One only had to look into their eyes. Both had jet black eyes which wore a purposeful look. Their faces too were heavily masculine, jet black and quite unlike the rest of the crowd. They were surveying the clubbers intently.

In fact, they were both professional rowdies. They carried sharpened knives in their sleeves. They worked for a Cuddalore based don who had a successful drug trafficking trade. That was how they gained their entry into the club without being checked. They supplied special orders there.

One of them spoke in a gruff voice. Anga paaru. Blue sattai. Avandhaan andha commissioner pulle. Ingaye pottu thallidalam. (Look there! Blue shirt. The commissioner's son. We'll take him down right here.) They walked towards the bar, keeping an eye on the boy all the time. They presented their credentials to the barman. Drinks would be on the house. They took wine. Anything else would hinder their getaway. They eyed the lad as they drank to his health.

The lad in question was a twenty something who blended in perfectly with the crowd. He looked the part of a rich spoilt kid. His clothes indicated the large amounts his father must have swindled. His wild, streaked locks flayed wildly as he swung his head in sync with the music. The only other notable things on his face were a micro-goatie and a pierced eyebrow. His dance partner looked too looked like any other rich spoilt Indian youngster. Only, she looked like she was still in school.

Maari, one of the two men, was getting impatient. Ennavo poo. Indha maari naatu pannikulaam nambala anupparanga. Seekram kaariyatha mudichidalam. Annan kitte sollanum. (Whatever. Can't believe they are sending us to take down such country pigs. Lets finish the job quickly. We have to tell our boss.)

They waited some more time for an opportune moment. After a few minutes, the couple stopped dancing. The girl took a seat while the youth, whose name was Andy (Anirudh), walked in the direction of the bar, probably in order to get the girl and himself some drinks. The killers decided it was time to move in.

The 2 men set their glasses down and walked up the towards the lad. Maari tapped Andy's shoulder. He turned and registered surprise upon seeing Maari's face. The look of surprise turned very quickly into a look of wariness. The other man, Daniel, made a move to quickly grab the lad's hands and cup his mouth. In a flicker, Maari pulled out his knife from his sleeve and lunged it into the young fellow's stomach.

Andy astutely side stepped the blow. The knife took some of his flesh and then went into the stomach of Daniel, who was right beside him. He then sent a kick right into the face of Maari, who let go of the knife and fell down. Andy took hold of the knife, drove it into Maari, then proceeded deliver a shot to Daniel's kottai causing him to crumple to the floor in a heap.

There was pandemonium at the club. The police soon arrived and took the profusely bleeding gangsters into custody. The gangsters, whose already sad life was thus further saddened learnt the following life lessons.

1. It does not pay to underestimate your enemy.

2. Don't judge a man by his looks.

3. Looks could kill.

4. Commissioners' sons can be karate gold medalists.

5. Job satisfaction is very important.

5 3/4. Never try to suppress, oppress and depress the views of a tamilian. (I won't explain the origins of this one. Only that t'was the very words of a modern day saint.)

Speaking of stories that break convention, there is this new tamil movie aimed at metro audience. It is called mudhal mudhal mudhal varai or m3v. It does sound like ayyooo thangamudile punnage, but the trailer seems pretty decent. The story must probably have some circular storyline where the beginning=end (I am guessing from the title). Will probably watch it online.

Llegamos al pueblo a las 11:30 a.m. masomenos, pero nos quedamos en un sitio que se llama Reñaca, a un costado del pueblo, que era más tranquilo y bonito y seguro más caro. De ahí nos tomó un montón de tiempo en encontrar un lugar para poder dormir cuando se hiciera de noche. Mientras que paseábamos dábamos vueltas y vueltas a todo el luger yendo de alojamiento en alojamiento hasta que terminamos finalmente parando en un lugar muy caleta con un letrero que refería a "osos pequeños" con no muy buena pinta. Lo importante es que nos ofrecieron la mejor oferta y la habitación no estaba mal, incluso venía con su cocina, cubiertos, vasos, platos y eso. Se decidió entonces dejar todo y almorzar algunas de las provisiones: pan con salchicha y su ketchup y mayonesa más.

El resto del día lo dedicamos a pasear por la playa, el malecón, el pueblo de viña. Incluso pasamos por un momento por una feria artesanal. Era como un centro de artesanías peruano, exactamente. Incluso encontramos cosas que decían Perú (y otras iguales con su equivalente "Chile") que hacían creer en un negocio de producción en masa de estas artesanías: no puede ser que siempre vendan lo mismo. Tenemos fotos que lo prueban todo.

Cuando comenzó a llover, huimos a nuestra guarida dispuestos a hacer nada (osea jugar poker) y eso hicimos. Un poco más tarde Álvaro tuvo la valentía de preguntar a nuestras vecinas de habitación si querian jugar poker con nosotros y para sorpresa nuestra aceptaron. Fue así como conocimos a un pequeño grupo de chicas (las cuales resultaron menores de edad) y jugamos poker todos. Al mismo tiempo que conversábamos, comprobamos que no se puede enseñar a jugar poker a 4 mujeres de 16 años al mismo tiempo y esperar tener algún éxito. No pasó mucho rato y se fueron con nuestros paraguas (como préstamo para la lluvia) no sin antes decirnos que deberíamos ir a alguna discoteca o algo.

Luego de pensarla, decidimos primero ir al casino (no hay casinos ni en santiago ni en cualquier lugar a mucha distancia de ahí) para conocer y hacer algo. La entrada costó la módica suma de 3800 pesos (a ver te lo traduzco: 22.8 soles. Decidimos que ya no era muy buena idea lo del casino y que mejor iríamos a alguna discotec. El camino para encontrar una tomó muuucho tiempo y muchas perdidas en lugares desconocidos, oscuros y lejanos (todo en auto claro), incluyendo un árbol caído que tapaba media pista.

Finalmente encontramos una que quedaba muy cerca de donde estábamos en un comienzo ("ositos"). Pagamos (al menos menos de lo que hubieramos en el casino), estuvimos un rato por ahí pero no pasó nada, estuvo fome. De welta a los ositos a dormir y a que las ositas no hayan escapado con nuestros paraguas para siempre.

On m'a confié la mission de reporter. Après 2 shakers je mitraillais et donc bon, les photos n'avaient plus trop d'intérêt en elles-mêmes,...

Bref. Après quelques verres ("CUL SEC HEIN NINA CUL SEC!"), tout ce petit monde se retrouve au You. L'alcool aidant, je squatte le podium et y invite ma soeur. Lorsque vint le moment R'n'B de la soirée en option Sean Paul, les petites biatch du coin ont rappliqué pour me piquer ma place. Elles le regrettent encore. Au plus le beat devenait entraînant, au plus j'étais bousculée dans tous les sens. Puis vint l'apothéose. Le déhanchement de trop.

-NON MAIS CA VA ALLER? me dit-elle. (désolée, je suis obligée de caps lock, ya beaucoup de bruit en boite, sinon c'est pas crédible)

oh, mon, dieu. Moi aussi je trouve ça ridicule comme dispute entre mini-bitchez mais en même temps ça me passionne. Pourquoi en boite c'est toujours celui qui est le plus haut perché qui gagne? Pourquoi celles qui ont la jupe la plus courte veulent toujours se hisser au lieu de laisser la place aux pétasses en jean's troué et  ballerines qui roxent le beat? Meuwde. :DD Ca mérite une étude sociologique. J'aurais bien fait un mémoire sur le sujet.

Demain, si vous êtes sages, je vous raconterai la super soirée disco au Kokob, le restaurant éthiopien où on ne sert pas de T-punch.

• j'ai dû me coucher peu après minuit, du fait d'une coupure de courant générale dans l'hôtel,
• j'ai été étonné de voir aussi peu de monde au restau à l'heure du petit déjeuner,
• j'ai vite réalisé que mon iphone/réveil ayant mystérieusement pris une heure d'avance, je m'étais levé une heure trop tôt,
• je me suis acheté une paire de tongues particulièrement horribles à la boutique de l'hôtel,
• ainsi chaussé, je suis parti tester la piscine (enfin !),
• je suis allé dîner au "Bœuf sur le toit", un restau-bar-disco étonnant,
• en chemin, j'ai écouté avec inquiétude notre chauffeur de taxi nous prévenir que les serveurs dans cet établissement étaient "tous noirs",
• j'ai reçu un coup de fil de mon frère m'annonçant que le cauchemar des canaris en Ligue 2 avait pris fin,
• j'ai donc picolé de bon cœur, malgré le vin bouchonné, au son de Gilbert Montagné et de Claude François,
• j'ai pris cette photo de l'hôtel, sa piscine et sa plage

You might have heard the Mighty Boosh are taking legal action against the Honey Monster. Gag-worthy as that may be, I've come too late to the party.

So let's hit the blood-spattered two-way street of copyright and get to the chase. Watching some old Boosh last night (coincidence) I was reminded we get the following in the Hitcher episode:

Only problem was, when I was a child, my thumb was tiny. Not just tiny like a single sugar puff, Disgusting! Even my own mother would reel back in horror, like an anaconda, 'Aagh! What is it!? Get it out of here! It's tiny! It's horrible, it's revolting!'

The Boosh namechecked Sugar Puffs. Sugar Puffs got crimping. So why are we staring at this sad puddle of spilt breakfast milk?

When the commercial world co-opts culture so superficially, it can be a dirty mix to swallow. But it happens all the time. What happened here was not a fair exchange.

The Boosh take Sugar Puffs' name. But Sugar Puffs took the Boosh's style.

If someone popular and funny namechecked you, you'd most likely be fine with it. But if after meeting someone you later discovered they'd copied your style, you'd be pretty pissed off.

On a blustery Saturday night down a dirty discotheque, several years after your first encounter, you bump into them again. They've started talking like (old) you. They've got your (old) rhythm, your (old) flow. Ugly.

If they'd just become a bit more like you, that could be good. It could be kinetic. It could even lead to some bouncy repartee. But they simply ripped. There was no dialogue.

When you bring it down to the personal, it all makes sense.

Lawrence Lessig can be breathtaking on this subject, and I'm looking forward to more of Matt Mason's thoughts.

You can be greedy for the verse, but you shouldn't bite the style.
