Je n'en reviens toujours pas ! Ce week-end, mes parents m'ont annoncé qu'ils m'offrent une nouvelle voiture pour mon entrée dans la vie active ! Et pas n'importe laquelle : une Mini Cooper !

Là, je peux dire qu'ils ont vu juste, je l'adore !

La Mini originale voit le jour à Birmingham, en Angleterre, en juillet 1959.

Cette petite automobile révolutionnaire et pleine de caractère a été conçue par Sir Alec Issigonis, pour British Motor Corporation. Avant de devenir une marque propre, elle fut commercialisée sous plusieurs marques telles que Austin, Morris, MG, Wolseley, Riley, Leyland ou encore sous licence italienne Innocenti (groupe Fiat).

Depuis 2000, la Mini est produite par le constructeur allemand BMW.

Mon choix s'est porté sur la Mini Cooper D en Astro black et avec un toit blanc, pour un esprit néo-rétro très chic !

J'aime ses formes arrondies et généreuses, son petit gabarit et son design original ! Une voiture féminine et pleine de glamour qui m'accompagnera lors de mes virées shopping !

Un intérieur très luxe

Son tableau de bord est vraiment unique ! J'adore son volant et son bouton de démarrage "start/stop", son imposant compteur de vitesse central et la qualité des finitions !

Crude Oil Rises From 13-Month Low

Crude oil rose from a 13-month low in New York on speculation action by European leaders to prevent the region's major lenders from collapsing may help slow credit market turmoil threatening to stall the global economy.

Oil gained for the first time in four days after the 15 nations using the euro agreed to shore up their banks, measures which will include the U.K. buying controlling stakes in Royal Bank of Scotland Plc and HBOS Plc. Iran, the world's fourth- biggest oil producer, will next month ask OPEC to cut output to reflect falling demand, Tehran-based newspaper Pool reported.

``Everybody is waiting to see evidence that these government interventions are having a positive influence, or are at least dampening the global panic,'' said Toby Hassall, research analyst with Commodity Warrants Australia Pty in Sydney. ``The sentiment in the market is still very poor.''

Crude oil for November delivery rose as much as $3.20, or 4.1 percent, to $80.90 a barrel in after-hours electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. It was at $80.40 at 7:14 a.m. in Singapore.

The contract fell $8.89, or 10.3 percent, to $77.70 a barrel on Oct. 10, the lowest settlement since Sept. 10, 2007. Prices rallied post-settlement as U.S. equity prices climbed from five-year lows late in the session.

New York oil futures dropped 17 percent last week, the biggest one-week decline since the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in March 2003. Copper, nickel and aluminum also dropped as world equity markets plunged and the International Monetary Fund warned the world was on the cusp of recession.

`Reasonably Priced'

Oil ``looks pretty fair and reasonably priced at the moment,'' Commodity Warrants' Hassall said. ``Markets are pricing in a global slowdown, if not a full-blown recession.''

Brent crude oil for November settlement rose $2.28, or 3.1 percent, to $76.37 a barrel on London's ICE Futures Europe Exchange. The contract slumped $8.57, or 10 percent, to $74.09 on Oct. 10, the lowest settlement since Sept. 4, 2007. The contract dropped 18 percent last week.

The International Energy Agency, an adviser to 28 nations, on Oct. 10 cut its forecast for global oil demand for 2008 to 0.5 percent, the lowest since 1993. Demand next year will rise by 700,000 barrels a day to 87.2 million, 440,000 barrels fewer than the Paris-based agency projected a month earlier.

So when I heard that they were only $50, I was interested. I wouldn't mind a new pair of washed denim for $50 because when was the last time I actually bought a pair of washed denim? It's been almost three years now. 

But to the line up: I haven't lined up for anything for a while now. I totally forgot how it felt hahaha:

The denim itself isn't anything special. The wash is "meh" but the fit isn't so bad. I'm quite bit surprised at how tapered it is (7") but in the end, I don't regret the purchase.

Milan's party was held in the industrial zone and getting to the right warehouse proved easy with the excited, chattering masses of jeans, boots and black attire weaving their way to Studio 2000. Just follow suite! Upon arrival to the entrance collective sighs were heard as a calm wave of relief washed over all successful in finding the correct location. This moment got bittersweet fast however as we merged into a furious crowd buzzing like angry bees.

Spread over an immense gravelled entrance people were packed like sardines in a can - over 1000 pressed in on all sides. Half of Milan seemed to be on the list yet clamouring outside in the cold. It was a mess.  A tight one. For 45 minutes we barely inched forwards but were astonishingly pushed and prodded inwards. I thought the crowd would swallow me. People were indignant, seething mad and exasperated that despite "being on the list" they were subject to such torture. Arms were pinned firmly to sides and conjoined to your neighbours! Harsh loud tones criticised Diesel's organisation saying it would have been more logical to have 6 or 7 entrances  or a "Serpentina" (Italian for queues like bank ones that go back and forth in a zig zag) instead of the 2 which were being used.

Cynically I thought this was intentionally done to amp up the anticipation and hype of the night and  in all likelihood indoors could be empty. A tactic used by Event Organisers to fuel desire and kill time until they are certain they can fill the place up yet still leave plenty of partygoers outside to make it look busy. This was my 3rd time in such a situation so I was wiser and less stressed then when first confronted at an Alexander McQueen after party one Fashion Week. Huge shock for me. You don't see people dressed up to go out and on the list treated like cattle in Sydney! In Sydney you would be VIP and jump everyone using a separate line.

By the time we managed to squeeze out of the throng and into the party we almost fell to the ground gasping fresh cool air! My suspicions that it was all a setup were mistaken as it turned out because the premises were at least 4 - 5000 strong! Meaning another push and shove for drinks! Drinks were free and served rapidly 2 at a time so no need to queue (yet again) so quick.

Decor wise small potted trees had been brought inside to line the edges of the venue and a hot air balloon with Diesel XXX logo was above the bar. There were 2 outdoor areas (for the smokers) indoors was the big old plain warehouse and the private area was close to the stage.

Performers danced dangerously juggling fire wheels and batons; spinning their bodies and vicious flames mesmerisingly. And at least 9 acrobats hung from the ceiling on trapezes doing various tricks and turns to a dramatic operatic booming mix. All this was executed in white jumpsuits with the XXX logo although personally I think body suits would have looked much better as it makes for a smoother more artistic look when they're so high in the sky but I suppose jumpsuits do match Diesel's casual appeal.

The first minute is just held in the XXX pose and the quality is not that good but you get the gist...

Cities such as Dubai who were partying simultaneously showed up on plasma screens. Flames of fire and a reel of the 17 city names projected and bounced off and around the hot air balloon at various stages of the night. The music line up was good, opened by Lindstrom and crowd pleasers were Earth, Wind & Fire and Sisterbliss. Everyone was hot, sweaty, fairly dishevelled but having a blast!!

A decoração lembrava um estúdio de cinema. Nas paredes e no chão, lambe-lambes com imagens do cinema pornô. Os telões montados na pista de dança mostravam as outras festas que a Diesel armou pelo mundo, simultaneamente, e também os famosos que chegavam ao agito.

A trilha sonora ficou por conta dos Dj's Puff, Pomba e Carlo Dall´Anese. No palco, performance de Anna Gelinskas.

the diesel jeans 30th anniversary party went down last night on the brooklyn waterfront. The event was free, but tickets were hard to come by. On a tip, we arrived an hour early before the 9pm doors time. Luckily, we avoided most of the door mayhem which occurred some time between 10pm and 11pm, around the time when the fire marshall closed the doors and would not let in any additional party goers. 

The event space was amazing, set directly on a waterfront pier in brooklyn. NYC skyline views a plenty. There were also projectors constantly changing the colors and "look" of the tent. Food consisted of hot dogs, pretzels, funnel cakes and other circus foods. Entertainment between acts was provided by fire breathers, stilt walkers, and acrobats. Performances by M.I.A., hot chip, chaka kahn, franz ferdinand, and TI were short but kept the party going into the wee hours.

Manny Ramirez? Preppy? Methinks not. This is an extraordinarily gifted athlete best described as a baseball savant, to modify a term in the story. Part of what makes Manny "Manny" is the hair.

We're struggling to remember the last time we saw hair like this on anyone described as "preppy," although it is actually clear in the story the author doesn't think he is either.  Manny is a lot things, many of them good, some not-so-wonderful, but preppy is not one of them.

A friend who struggles with the fact we don't watch the show is constantly tormenting us with updates and the weekly plot synopsis of the upcoming episode. We have to admit Monday's show title is really very clever: "New Haven Can Wait." One of the funnier things in the upcoming episode has to be "Chuck's" kidnapping, hypothetically carried out by Skull and Bones members while visiting Yale. Honestly.

We are trying to decide if it is a sign of advancing age that we aren't crazy about Taylor Momsen's look seen during Friday's shoot ...

It just all looks a little, well, unnecessary. We didn't realize she played "Cindy Lou Who" in the "How The Grinch Stole Christmas," but after thinking about it we definitely see the resemblance.  Sadly, we had the same reaction to the dress (nightie?) worn by Blake Lively, who plays Serena van der Woodsen on the über-hot show.

Another silly Sunday tidbit: Michael Phelps has more than one favorite designer.  In speaking with the good folks at NY magazine the Olympic star said he considers Giorgio Armani and Diesel.

Of course he also includes Lacoste among his first-string, although we have never been able to confirm the fashion  house is an official sponsor, as Speedo is. And when asked about going to Fashion Week next time around?

"...we asked if Phelps got invited to Fashion Week. “I have no idea if I did or not. I’m not sure where I was at that point, but I was traveling and I was super busy.” But if the designers in Paris had invited him to the shows, he so would have gone! “I’ll go anywhere. I’ll go enjoy myself. Come on — it’s fun going to those things..."

One heads-up for anyone still interested in the Phelps Phans tee-shirts we mentioned in a post back in August: they are gone.  Apparently the phrenzy is either over or just too much to keep up with, we're not sure.

Zac Efron returns to LA after bizarre attack

Hot off the press news about High School Musical star Zac Efron who is now at home and relieved at this fact and who could blame him according to various sources. 

A hectic week with very busy lauanch of High School Musical 3.  He and the cast have been in London promoting High School Musical, and with all that pressure he also had the trauma of dealing with a bizarre attack from a deranged fan.   High School Musical star Zac Efron was apparently left shaken during a night out in London with girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens - after he was attacked by a middle-aged man.  The 20-year-old hunk was making his way through a throng of screaming fans as he left the Apollo Theatre with Hudgens on Wednesday (08Oct08) after checking out Hollywood star Josh Hartnett's performance in a stage adaptation of Rain Man.  Apparently a middle aged man holding a computer lunged forward and tried to grab his hair, he was poiting at him and said some things...apparently not very nice...Okay rewind... the man is holding a computer and obviously has something to say but what ??????? Maybe Zac just stood on his toe, or unplugged his computer right in the middle of completing a spreadsheet!!!!! Who knows! Not I!!! Does anyone?  According to some 'He was shouting all kinds of things at Zac. Their security team eventually dealt with it. They had to bundle Zac into a car, but at one point it looked as though the man was going to be pushed into it with him.' 

Later that night the couple were seen out dining in Soho.  A fellow diner said Zac appeared to have put the earlier incident behind him, adding: 'He was quite relaxed and looked like he was enjoying himself.   'Some of them were dancing to salsa music, so they must have put the scuffle out of their minds.' Zac was not hurt, the man was spoken to by security staff at the scene, and the attack was not reported to police.    

His girlfriend and co-star Vanessa Hudgens opted for a billowing top, wide-legged dark jeans and woven belt.  Want to get the look then j brand see below will help you create that look.

Review - I like Vin, I think as an actor he is getting better and better with each film...so I thought I would give this film a shot. To be honest its kinda pants, its not a film that instantly takes you in...and you cant wait to see what happens next. A lot of the fight scenes etc are WAY over the top, which doesnt help.

Overall.....its ok but not worth a second watch.

2010 VW super efficient diesel gets over 200 MPG

If you’re wondering why I began with diesels, it was the simple fact that I have a lot of experience with them.  After I had such good experience with my 1999 Volkswagen beetle, my wife and I purchased a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta TDI with an automatic and just recently we purchased a 1999 Volkswagen Jetta TDI with a standard transmission for my stepdaughter.

The second reason that I chose to speak about diesels first is because diesel engines are superior to gasoline engines in many ways. They have fewer moving parts and are much more efficient than gasoline engines. Diesel engines are also built with sturdier parts to withstand higher compression pistons that are used in the engine design. These facts enable the average diesel engine to last much longer than an average gasoline engine. Volkswagen’s diesel engine longevity is legendary.  Some members of the TDI club have over 500,000 miles on their engines.

According to Wikipedia “Diesel-powered cars generally have a better fuel economy than equivalent gasoline engines and produce less greenhouse gas emission. Their greater economy is due to the higher energy per-liter content of diesel fuel and the intrinsic efficiency of the diesel engine. While petrodiesel's 15% higher density results in 15% higher greenhouse gas emissions per liter compared to gasoline,[6] the 20–40% better fuel economy achieved by modern diesel-engine automobiles offsets the higher-per-liter emissions of greenhouse gases, and produces 10-20 percent less GHG emissions than comparable gasoline vehicles. Biodiesel-powered diesel engines offer substantially improved emission reductions compared to petro-diesel or gasoline-powered engines, while retaining most of the fuel economy advantages over conventional gasoline-powered automobiles.”

In addition to greater efficiency, back in 2002, Volkswagen created an experimental car that got over 285 MPG. Volkswagen was shooting for the car to go 100 kilometers on one liter of diesel.   When tested however, it only took .89 liters to go 100 kilometers (or around 285 MPG).  Here’s the math:

3.78541178 liters is equal to one gallon, to go 100 kilometers and one kilometer equals 0.621371192 miles, 100KM would equal 62.1371192 miles (or 235.22 MPG).

Remember, this concept car was developed in way back in 2002 and it actually got better fuel economy, than anticipated scoring a sweet .89L/100km in VW testing or closer to 285 MPG. The production car due in 2010 is supposed to get more like the 235 MPG number.  I don’t know about you but I’d like to have one of those to go to works or just cruise around.

Der Mann hatte aus Unwissenheit Diesel statt des für den Mietwagen vorgeschriebenen Superbenzins getankt, wie ein Polizeisprecher am Dienstag mitteilte.

Um den ungeeigneten Treibstoff wieder aus dem Tank zu bekommen, nutzte der Mann eine selbstgebaute Pumpe, die er an eine Motorradbatterie angeschlossen hatte.

Die noch im Tank befindlichen Dämpfe des Supers entzündeten sich durch die Kontakte der Batterie und sofort standen das Fahrzeugheck und der Innenraum in Flammen. Der Mietwagen wurde vollständig zerstört. Der Fahrer blieb unverletzt.

It's two in the morning on Saturday. The headline as I read it from the AP says updated 43 minutes ago. Strange business hours. What's going on? It's good to know that this deal started as the bars start to let out in Detroit after a particualry bad week.

Earlier this month, we saw Diesel's creatively racy viral video, which promoted the 30/xXx theme. And today marked the Italian denim brand's 30th Anniversary. The big celebration hovered over today's one-day only release of the limited edition "Dirty Thirty" denim. Big deal, right? What's all the fuss about? The fuss is the incredibly low price of $50 USD.

Releasing at 160 stores worldwide, every single location had a lineup with Beijing and Amsterdam causing a ruckus. Other than having to implement a raffle and police barricade, the launch went fairly well. I, myself, missed out on all the craze, but when I checked the online store at 7:30am PST, the denim was already sold out. So if you're looking to cop a pair, you better check eBay and be prepared to spend a little more than retail.
