For those of you who cried when Jack died at the end of the Titanic and for those who think Leonardo Di Caprio is a talented actor, here’s something that may interest you: Leonardo Di Caprio and Kate Winslet’s new movie. It looks like the two actors reunited to play in Sam Mendes‘ Revolutionary Road.
“Based on the novel by Richard Yates, Revolutionary Road tells the story of a young couple trying to find fulfillment in an age of conformity. Trapped in a world of encoded convention, they dream without faith, as lies and self-deceptions build to explosive consequences.”

So (and my friend is gonna hate me for this)... given that all those that cried were 13 at the time, and so were all those that thought DiCaprio is a good actor, and since 13year old kids these days have Kutcher to dream about... does that mean nobody's gonna watch this? That's a shame, I think Sam Mendes is actually good.

This is a bad sign.  There’s been a little bit too much “politically-themed” blogging going on here at Friesen Point lately, and I apologize.  That’s all my fault.  I know my target demographic, and I know that they’re not into politics as much as they’re into penis jokes.  Please bear with me while I dredge through all the political nonsense I’ve had to put up with in recent days.

When I woke up this morning, before the coffee even had a chance to kick in, I came face to face with one of the worst things I’ve ever seen in my short existence: this fucking lame video:

I have a few problems with this video, which I will list now.

1) It’s way too long.  The whole thing gets really old after about thirty seconds, but there’s still over four minutes of it left.  The thing is full of Hollywood stars, you’d think one of them would know a decent editor who could make some good cuts.  Trim that shit up.

2) What they’re really saying is “vote for Obama,” and they’re doing a horrible job disguising that.  I applaud the fact that they don’t have Barbra Streisand or Sean Penn in the ad, but it’s still horribly clear that everyone in the ad are staunch Obama supporters.  Every single goddamn voting campaign that comes out (Rock The Vote, Vote or Die, et al.) is just a very thinly veiled “vote Democrat” campaign, and that’s fine, except for that it’s slightly dishonest.  If they just came out and said “we want you to register so you can vote for Obama,” it would be clear that they were just partisan hacks, but at least it would be honest.  All this bullshit about how they want you to vote because everyone should have their voice heard is just insulting to our intelligence.  No one wants everyone to vote, but if these dicks present their argument honestly, they know no one will listen, and everyone will think that they’re the partisan hacks that they are.  It’s really just the flip-side of the “Swiftboat Veterans for Truth” shit.  Different sides of the same coin.

3) The message of this ad is very passive-aggressive, and if I know disenchanted potential voters, nothing turns them on like passive-aggression.  This is not the way to get people interested; this is the way to get people to think you’re an asshole.  I have an idea for a political campaign that will perfectly target the jaded youth vote, and I like to call it “Fuck It, I’ll Vote If You Vote.”  I think this slogan perfectly captures the spirit of the disenchanted voters, and appeals to their sense of unity.  What really makes this slogan so viable is that it sounds like it’s some kind of inconvenience for me to vote, which really would really resonate with the lazy young potential voters.  They feel like voting is an inconvenience, and they want someone to connect with those feelings, and I can think of no better person than me.  I’m lazy.  I’m hairy.  I look like I smoke lots of pot.  All in all, I think I would be the perfect person to increase voter turnout, but actually making that kind of ad would be a real inconvenience.  I’m way too lazy to make something like that.

For a couple hours, I was allowed to sit back, relax, and enjoy a momentary hiatus from the everyday grind. Movies really are proving to be the perfect getaway for me. Advanced screening of Body of Lies tonight. Having Leo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe in the same film will always make for an intriguing dialogue. There are probably better movies in the same genre out there, but it's definitely worth watching. If anything, watch it for DiCaprio's goatee. That thing has a mind of its own.

I picked up Forgetting Sarah Marshall at Best Buy. Someone please explain to me why a blu-ray disc is double the price of a regular dvd? If the movie wasn't so awesome, I would've bought the standard dvd. But seeing that Dracula rock-opera in all its blu-ray glory was too good to pass up.

How is it a misnomer? Well for instance solar power is considered a renewable source but it is new with each morning. It is new energy from a very old source. Now one could say that the panels or mirrors that collect the source require maintenance and replacement of worn parts. Nothing in the energy world is renewable if it was then it would be called perpetual motion. Burning garbage is a onetime option not that man does not produce a lot of it daily. If society keeps working hard at recycling that would cut down on that source. Wind power has some of the same problems as solar it needs new wind constantly unless one considers the wind bags in Congress like Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid.

There is one source of energy that comes close to renewable and comes oozing out of the earth and that is thermal energy. It is only tapped in a few places in the world. Iceland is the only country that has truly tapped this source of energy. In America thermal energy spots exist to be tapped.

A long lasting energy source is nuclear power. It turns out that all the dire predictions by the environmentalist Nazis that claimed it was unsafe during the 1970’s turned out to be wrong. France’s energy system runs on 80 percent nuclear.

The one thing is clear America and the world will never get away from oil, coal or natural gas.

The first teaser trailer was just premiered in Entertainment Tonight nd I mus say Leornado Dicaprio and Kate Winslet still have that "Titanic" way of capturing an audience. This is not a silly love movie of sorts, like "Titanic",  or about revolution in its literal meaning. The story centers on a a married couple's life in the suburbs of the 1950's.  They become one of those cookie cut families, think "Stepford Wives", and have a rutinary insanity. The plot is basically how they manage to keep it toguether and try to breakout of the normal standards without tearing their marriage apart while they are at it. Hense the tagline.

This movie's central idea is as relevant now as it was in past decades, perhaps in lesser doses, and we still struggle to do our own thing and breakout of what's expected and ruled as inevitable. Today there as many "Stepfor Wives", and rebels and so on. Thats right Americans are driving less and cutting back on spending this could mean people being laid off from jobs and a slow down of the economy. That is not good enough for the Nazi environmentalists in today's world. These include people in Congress such as Nancy Pelosi, Barack Hussein Obama and Harry Reid. Greenpeace is sticking their nose into this fracas and trying to control Americans and their lifestyle.

Is it right for rich elitist, who never worry about buying consumables, to tell the rest of the common folks to suck it up and deal with the current situation. America is tired of the lies told by Al Gore, Michael Moore and Congress.

The global warming is not caused by America but countries such as China and India. The reason that offshore drilling is being fought is so that America has to rely on the world for its existence , in other words to be dominated by jealous  government s and  foreign banks. It is time to cut those ties and gain the American freedom back. We do not need to be in the back pocket of foreign oil brokers and begging the dictator Pelosi to have the freedom to live.

Now, we don’t know about you, but the idea of Leonardo DiCaprio as a journalist hired by the CIA to traipse around Jordan looking for an Al-Qaeda leader is pretty darn awesome. Coupled with the fact you’ve got Russell Crowe as his boss and Ridley Scott directing, we’d say we’re onto a winner – A classic Vicky and Dre kinda film.

It’s been like two years since any new Leo, and following his stunning performances in “The Departed” and “Blood Diamond”, we expect nothing but good things when it comes to “Body of Lies”.

Iran punishes actress for starring in DiCaprio film

actress Golshifteh Farahani has been barred from leaving Iran after she filmed an American movie without first seeking government

permission.

Farahani, 25, recently starred in US director Ridley Scott's 'Body of Lies' with Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe,

becoming the first Iranian-based actress to star in a Hollywood movie.

Farahani discovered the ban on Tuesday when she planned to travel to Hollywood to discuss a potential new film, Iran's official news

agency IRNA reported on Thursday.

IRNA said Iranian movie stars must obtain permission from the Culture Ministry before appearing in foreign movies.

Body of Lies is a film adaptation of the novel of the same name by David Ignatius, about a CIA operative, played by DiCaprio, who goes

to Jordan to track a high-ranking terrorist.

Farahani is believed to play a nurse in which DiCaprio's character falls in love with.

Farahani has previously acted in movies by some of Iran's top directors including Dariush Mehrjui's 'the Santoor

Player', and Bahman Ghobadi's 'Half Moon' - winner of the Golden Shell at the 2006 San Sebastian Film Festival.

So today information is coming out that solar power capture and efficiency is on the cusped of great leap forward.

So the question has to be asked of same old tire person of this site Al Gore is his company looking to invest in this new technology by funding research and development or when all the work is done, jump on the bandwagon. This if Gore was a true environmentalist he should be the first to preach from the pulpit of green power.

This system could allow energy from the sun to power homes or businesses. Instead small people like this site are talking of its potential for the future. Al Gore would rather starve the world and pollute it with ethanol to make his millions. This makes him no different then the oil companies.

Questions still abound on the system in development, what is its carbon footprint in building the system and its overall cost to operate it? The idea is in the right direction but the overall process has to be considered

I received an email from a good guy friend at least two years ago in which he raved about this new movie called "Titanic 2" that was soon to be released. He knew I was a diehard Titanic fan, and he also knew that I was a rather gullible person -- this has since changed with age (remember, I was 15 and suffering from freshman naivete) -- so this little prank was a good one. I was shocked and unbelievably excited: this was wonderful!! I was a mere six years old when the original film was released, much too young to enjoy it in all its cinematic glory on the big screen; now was my chance! So it was with wildly inflamed expectations that I watched this trailer, which most YouTube users have likely seen.

Of course, about halfway through I noticed that this was a mere parody; a clever conglameration of scenes from some of DiCaprio's other films by some wiseguy who enjoys tormenting people in love with this awesome film. Needless to say, I felt the full dismay of a most cruelly popped bubble. Anyway, once my disappointment came to an end, I was able to appreciate it in all its burlesque comedy.
