In fondo il concetto di  robot affonda le radici nel passato e nella mitologia, lo stesso Leonardo Da Vinci aveva abozzato l'idea di un cavaliere meccanico, e già nel 700 fu inventato uno dei primi androidi che suonava il flauto per allietare e stupire il re. Il concetto di un FRANKEINSTEIN si stava materializzando e la possibilità reale di creare un essere privo di sentimenti ma con movimenti e sembianze umane ha da sempre affascinato. Forse l'uomo ha paura dei sentimenti e delle emozioni e preferisce qualcosa di puramente insensibile o in realtà pur essendo eccitato da queste creazioni ha paura in fondo che un giorno lo rimpiazzino. I progressi tecnologici e le nanotecnologie in questi ultimi decenni hanno fatto la loro parte: e dai robots e androidi meccanici creati per puro ludibrio nei musei, automi di animali, suonatori di violino come gli automi di Droz o gli animatronic per gli effetti speciali cinematografici, si è passati a sperimentare, soprattutto in Giappone, su veri e propri sostitutori dell'uomo: nelle faccende domestiche, nei lavori più difficili e pesanti, anche nel gioco e nel sesso. Esempio ne sono: il cagnolino AIBO della Sony, che giocherà coi vostri figli come un vero cane, senza sporcare o abbaiare estenuandovi. Le bellissime hostess create in Giappone, talmente umanizzate da spaventare per la reale autonomia; l'infermiere robot, o il clone tutto silicone e sensori del professore giapponese Hiroshi Ishiguro, devvero impressionante. Il robot ASIMO alto 120 cm, vero sostitutore tuttofare. L'era cyborg è iniziata, e come nei film più futuristici c'è chi già ha buttato le bambole gonfiabili per fare sesso robotico, con vere androidi Sex doll costosissime, confondibili con "reali" fotomodelle tutte silicone e chirurgia.

Forse siamo noi che stiamo diventando sempre più simili a qualcosa che non è l'uomo, ci trasformiamo in continuazione: ci si opera per somigliare a qualcos'altro, ci serviamo del computer per parlare e non apriamo la bocca, ci muniamo di tecnologie che sostituiscono le funzioni più varie. Nelle fabbriche, nell'industria avanzata  e su Marte di sicuro il robots è il nostro perfetto sostitutore, ma c'è chi si spinge oltre: e se invece dei figli avessimo questa bambina robots? Certo fa impressione, ma non ci darà problemi...certo è che loro "vivranno" più a lungo di noi!

Thus, our understanding of ‘mass media’ and its strong influence on society is slowly corroding at the foot of technological innovation.

The very root of this revolution is the online user; the independent psyche of a human being placed within the virtual world. I plan to understand the psychology of the online user as both that user and the broadcaster – the individual who wants to interrupt that user. Secondly, I want to learn what sparks particular online actions that otherwise would not take place in reality, and make concrete comparisons between user interactions on and offline. However, the bulk of my research will surround the psyche of the individual online who has ever increasing control.

In Second Life il robot potrebbe assumere forme diverse dalle sembianze umane. Gli studi sull'intelligenza artificiale al contempo stanno favorendo la costruzione di robot maggiormente efficaci, efficienti e autonomi.

Il cyborg può essere letto come metafora di Second Life? Anche SL è un ibrido tra quello che portiamo dal mondo reale e quello che viene dal nostro immaginario. Il cyborg è un ibrido tra corpo umano e corpo meccanico.  A complicare il quadro vi è il fatto che la nuova robotica strettamente connessa con l'informatica che tende a sfumare il confine tra natura e meccanica, artificio e natura, tecnica e biologia.

Se ci pensate su SL non c'è una separazione tra noi e la nostra rappresentazione di noi, il nostro noi mediatizzato. Se siete dei culturi di Star Trek conoscete sicuramente i Borg ibridi di meccanica e biologia umana. I nuovi robot sono infatti degli ibridi tra organismi biologici e macchine, un esempio filmico è Terminator. Questa ibridicità sta portando a configurare degli innesti meccanici nei corpi umani, per sostituire arti o pezzi del corpo umano deteriorati e inservibili. Nelle stesse applicazioni dei videogiochi sempre più spesso si sta studiando l'effetto di possibili collegamenti neuronali tra il giocatore e la macchina fisica connessa al gioco.

Depuis hier, les consommateurs japonais peuvent louer la fameuse combinaison-robot multipliant de dix fois les forces humaines, le HAL ( Hybrid Assistive Limb). Cette invention pourra fortement servir les handicapés et les personnes ayant des difficultés à marcher. Ce bijou pesant 22 kilos vous est offert pour la coquine somme de 2200$ par mois. O evento já começou mal, de várias lutas anunciadas com antecedência foram canceladas, o mal da FEG o contagiou. Para piorar horas antes de começar o main event ficou ameaçado e não aconteceu.

Infelizmente o undercard não passou, só passou um HL da Cris Cyborg, que não dá para dizer nada demais, analisar só por HL é muito perigoso.

Nicolae Cury venceu Jorge Bouchet por TKO Round 1 – apenas destacar que o brasileiro perdeu a luta, mas na verdade não conhecia ninguém.

Bryan Hamade venceu David Gomez por finalização Round 1 – ninguém se importa.

Mikey Gomez venceu Lorenzo Borgomeo por finalização Round 2 – Gomez treina na Gracie Barra de Orlando.

Conor Heun venceu Edson Berto por TKO Round 2 – ainda bem que Conor lutou, pois a luta antes iniciada não dava ânimo de ver. Por ter uma categoria fraquíssima, Heun já merece uma oportunidade de lutar pela cinta, mas como a política do Elite não é priveligiar os melhores, é capaz do Heun demorar a lutar pela cinta.

Cris Cyborg venceu Yoko Takahashi na decisão unânime – todos esperavam um novo nocaute, mas não veio, porém o que foi escrito nos PbP é que ela dominou totalmente a luta e logo lutara pelo cinturão.

Benji Radach venceu Murilo Ninja por TKO Round 2 – festival de KD sobre Ninja, o brasileiro se encontrava no chão, mas na trocação era atraso atrás de atraso. Era uma luta sem favoritos, ambos desempenham função de lutadores de segundo plano na corrida pelo cinturão. Nota 7.

Gina Carano venceu Kelly Kobold na decisão unânime – em certas horas uma luta chata, porém mostrou que apesar de não levar o MMA a sério, ela é muito técnica e não será uma presa fácil para a Cris. Nota 5.

Andrei Arlovski venceu Roy Nelson por KO Round 2 – a luta se dividiu de dois jeitos, Nelson descansado e Nelson cansado. O 1R Roy ficou no 100kg e trabalhando alguns golpes, assim ganhando facilmente a luta, mas o juiz insistiu em atrapalhar a vida do americano. No 2R Nelson cansou e Andrei conseguiu lutar e nocautear. Nota 4.

Jake Shields venceu Paul Daley por finalização Round 2 – resumindo: fora do UFC não tem ninguém para ganhar do Shields. Nota 7.

Seth Petruzelli venceu Kimbo Slice por TKO Round 1 – Shamrock fez Shame, Rosa era melhor que Seth, mas escolheram um cara que foi finalizado pelo McGee. Enfim tava previsto um grande circo, mas não foi isso que aconteceu (para o bem do MMA) e Kimbo sucumbiu num soco. Não tem como dar nota na luta, pois ela não houve.

O evento – lutas não muito empolgantes, confusão no main event e isso com certeza fez com que muitos perdessem um pouco o interesse pelo evento. Nota 5.

The shocker of the week, the month, maybe the year. Ken Shamrock is unable to fight Kimbo Slice. Shamrock suffered a cut that required 6 stitches during a light practice and has been medically disqualified by the Florida State Athletic Commission. Filling in for Ken Shamrock is Seth Petruzelli, a former Ultimate Fighter participant. Petruzelli caught Kimbo with a quick punch and jumped on top for a stunning 14 second knockout.

The future world, 2019 LA, of Blade Runner is a cosmopolitan “global village”. This is communicated by the use of bi-lingual advertising signs: Coca-cola sits amongst neon Japanese symbols. Although Coca-cola is an American symbol that is saturated world wide the use of it sat against the Japanese iconography communicates the sense of lost identity. While Deckard sits eating his Japanese food two “Blade Runner” cops stand behind him, and although we are in LA they speak in a foreign language to Deckard who only understands English. He must get the noodle stand owner to translate for him. The fact that an agent of the central authority, the Police, speaks in Japanese rather than English in LA signifies the state of globalisation. The identity that is lost is the local provincial aspects of countries. Instead of an American or Japanese culture we see a cross-breed intertextual mix that produces it own new identity. As I mentioned in my previous post concerning the Postmodern nature of Blade Runner this concept of intertextuality and pastiche culture is important in communicating a distinct future world. Blade Runner asks questions about individuality and authenticity [I will write a post about Blade Runner with the aim to explore the postmodern concept of cyborg ] and the intertextual nature of Blade Runner creates a future world where people have become replicants of imagery and images that “used” to signify something individual but now have become tired. Instead of Deckard being an individual he has become a “replicant” of the film noir detective in his trench coat and hard-boiled character. Similarly Rachel has become the prototypical Femme Fatal, dressed in dark, commanding screen presence and continuously smoking.

The future world social structures are communicated in Blade Runner by the opposition of setting, as in Total Recall and Running Man. The internal shots of the headquarters of the Tyrell corp. are luscious and extraordinary while the city streets are dark and rain is continuously falling. As in Total Recall the opposition of two colours can communicate an atmosphere that coincides with the location. In Total Recall the use of red and whites opposed each other and communicated a mood and sense of place. In Blade Runner the use of dark-blues communicate a sense of run-down dirty atmosphere while golds and yellows create a warm glow that surrounded the upper echelons of the Tyrell corp.

Cassern is about a cyborg who rises against the robotic armies that have subjugated all of humanity.

Y lo ha desmostrado con eventos alrededor del mundo:

El primer evento hecho en el 2002 llamado "Flash in the Can" (refiriendose a Flash de Adobe), enfocada en especifico en este software trajo un explosión de nuevos medios interactivos como plataformas de tecnología para celulares, instalaciones de arte, juegos interactivos y gráficos. Siguiendolo con un evento en Toronto "Flagship Festival" : The Design + Technology Festival, uno de los mas grandes e importantes eventos, donde se reunieron de alrededor del mundo los mejores diseñadores y developers, tratando las tres áreas del medio interactivo:

Creatividad. Explorar la creatividad como un proceso personal. 

Técnico. Nuevos desarrollos de medios interactivos involucrando nuevas tendencias en la tecnología.

Negocios. Descubrir nuevas soluciones practicas para los nuevos retos del futuro y que te traeran de beneficio como empresa. 

Sin duda este macroevento involucra todos los aspectos importantes para nuevos medios interactivos. En México sin duda falta que se explore mas este campo que aún esta en crecimiento, ya lo había mencionado en un post pasado, existe mucho talento mexicano que se tiene que explotar, las grandes empresas son las únicas que invierten en medios interactivos "innovadores". Cómo es posible que el 80% de las pequeñas y medianas empresas no tengan .com !!!! Esto es un dato que da miedo. Los medios interactivos tienen que dejar de ser un lujo en México, concientisar y empujar a que las personas sean mas arriesgadas, ya que sin riesgos no hay innovación, y sin innovación no hay avances.

World's first ever Cyborg, Professor Kevin Warwick, Department of Cybernetics, University of Reading, is just six to eight years away from another implant, this time a brain implant.

This experiment would be in the area of bi-directional communication. Currently the investigation process is on for brain-computer links, in particular an implant into the brain, which acts bi-directionally.

As Warwick tells, "This probably will mean retraining neurons within the brain to alter their basic functioning. The main reason here would be for bi-directional communication. Clearly this is different to space projects. I believe it is far more important as it really changes what it means to be human."

In the year 1998, Professor Kevin Warwick and his team at the department of Cybernetics, University of Reading had underwent an operation to surgically implant a silicon chip transponder in his forearm that allowed a computer to monitor him as he moved through halls and offices of the Department of Cybernetics using a unique identifying signal emitted by the implanted chip and also allowed him to operate doors, lights, heaters and other computers without lifting a finger.

The second phase of the experiment Project Cyborg 2.0 got underway in March 2002 with an aim of studying how a new implant could send signals back and forth between Warwick's nervous system and a computer.

His team is presently busy with the rat brain project, a biological robot controlled by a blob of rat brain created by the scientists. The project is at an interesting turn as it moves on to study memories vis-à-vis brain.

"We are now about to investigate how memories manifest themselves in the brain – hopefully this will give us some leverage in dealing with Alzheimer's disease," shares Warwick.

The project entails a wheeled machine wirelessly linked to a bundle of neurons kept at body temperature in a sterile cabinet while signals from the "brain" allow the robot to steer left or right to avoid objects in its path.

Similar experiments about developing robots with living brains made from cultured cells are underway with other scientists across the world too like the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, US and the SymbioticA Fish And Chips project or the 'whiskered' rat robot project on touch technology by at multinational BIOTACT project, with research teams like Weizmann Institute of Science's Neurobiology Department.

Professor Kevin Warwick who pioneered the merging of biology and robotics by conducting the first "cyborg" experiments on him is upbeat about this one. "The rat brain project is presently extremely successful – we are able to grow a brain of 100,000 brain cells and we have it driving a robot around".

Ever since I was a little kid, I would have this weird vision of me being "not human." And I obviously didn't believe it was true. I'd imagine it as if I was a robot, but I didn't know it. Maybe robot's not the proper term. Maybe cyborg, or something.

Anyway, last night I was thinking how great of a story that could be. What if a teenager somehow, found out he wasn't really his parents child, physically, but he was a cyborg.

I know, I'm a little out there, but this is just my sci-fi side. LOL
