ข้อเสียอีกอย่างคือ ไหนๆ ก็เขียนแบบออฟไลน์แล้ว ก็น่าแนบไฟล์ภาพจากเครื่องได้สิ
แต่นี่ดันให้เรากรอกURLของภาพลงไปเพื่อแนบไฟล์ เน็ตตูเล่นไม่ได้ตูจะอัพยังไง

อีกข้อนึง แต่อันนี้ได้ใช้บ้างไม่ใช้บ้าง
ก็คือไม่ใช่ช่องให้ใส่ Trackback มาให้ด้วย
คงเพราะว่า Blog Editor ตัวนี้ใช้กับหลายๆ เจ้า
ก็เลยกลัวว่าถ้าใส่ Trackback ลงไปแล้ว บางเจ้ามันไม่รู้จัก

Artık blog kavramını yeni nesil çok iyi biliyor ve ben kendimi de bu nesile dahil ediyorum ve : online generation diyorum. Evet online generation artık blog biliyor ve bildiklerini de blog aracığıyla dünyaya duyuyor. Eski günlerde blog'un hiçbir anlamı olmazdı; çünkü hem internet güçlü değildi; hemde arama motorları bu kadar etkili değildi. Hem internetin çok hızlanması; hem de arama motorlarının hızlanması ve indexledikleri sayfaların çok büyük boyutlara ulaşmasıyla, blog sayfalarına ulaşmak kolaylaştı ve bu da blog sitelerinin çığ gibi patlamasına neden oldu:)

Peki bloglar çoğalınca, blog yazarlarının işlerini kolaylaştıracak programlar bir bir ortaya çıkmaya başladı ve Microsoft'da bu konuda yerinde durmadı ve Windows Live Writer'ı ortaya çıkardı. Yukarıda WLW'ın Ekran görüntüsünü görüyorsunuz ve inanın çok güzel özelliklerle donatılmış bir program. Bu programı kullanmak için öncelikle bir blog siteniz olması gerekmektedir; çünkü hesabınıza bağlanıyor ve yazdığınız yazıları online olarak güncelliyor ve yayınlıyor.

Şimdi bu programı nasıl bilgisayarımıza kuruyoruz ve kullanıyoruz ona bir göz atalım. Microsoft'un sitesine gidip WLW'yi bilgisayarımıza indiriyoruz. Bu linke tıklayarak siteye gidebilir ve bilgisayarınıza programı indirebilirsiniz. Programı bilgisayarınıza indirdikten sonra resimdeki gibi bir exe yani yükleme dosyası göreceksiniz. Bu dosyaya çift tıklayarak çalıştırın ve karşınıza bir ekran çıkacak ve orda çeşitli dosyalar var. Bunlar Msn messenger, Msn Toolbar, Windows Live Writer gibi ve siz hangi uygulamayı yüklemek istiyorsanız, bu seçme özelliklerinden seçiyorsunuz ve next diyerek yüklemeye başlıyorsunuz. Yükleme başlıyor ve belirli bir süre sonra yükleniyor. Yükleme bittikten sonra masaüstünüzde Windows Live Writer kısayolunu göreceksiniz ve bu dosyaya çift tıklayarak programı çalıştırıyorsunuz.

Programı ilk kez çalıştırırken, karşımıza aşağıdaki şekilde bir görüntü çıkacak; çünkü kullandığınız blog ayarlarınız yapmamız gerekiyor :

Karşılama ekranını görüyorsunuz. Eğer kendi adınıza sahip olduğunuz bir web günlüğünüz varsa : "zaten ayarlanmış bir web günlüğüm var" seçeneğini seçiyorsunuz. Eğer herhangi bir Web günlüğünüz yani blogunuz yoksa : "Web günlüğüm yok, benim için yeni bir Windows Live Alanı oluştur" seçeneğini seçerek, microsoft'un size sağladığı bloglardan yararlanabilirsiniz. Size hangi seçenek uygunsa seçili hale getirdikten sonra next yani sonraki yapıyorsunuz ve karşınıza aşağıdaki seçenek çıkıyor :

Bu pencerede karşınıza 3 seçenek çıkıyor : Bu özellikler sizin web günlüğünüzle alakalı seçenekler ve siz buradan hangi blog sizin için uygunsa ya da hangisine üyeyseniz seçiyorsunuz. Mesela benim gibi wordpress kullanıyorsunuz ve burda gözükmüyor, o zaman : "Başka bir Web günlüğü hizmeti" seçeneğini seçin ve sonraki yapın.

Yukardaki resimde blogunuzun adresini web günlüğü giriş sayfası URL'si yazan yere yazıyorsunuz. Ben http://msonerg.wordpress.com yazdım; çünkü benim blog adresim bu ve kullanıcı adınızı da kullanıcı adı yazan kutucuğa yazıyorsunuz. Daha sonra da parolanızı yazıyorsunuz ve sonraki diyerek bir sonraki özelliğe geçiyorsunuz.

Yukarıda menülerin altında, sol tarafta Yayımla diye bir özellik var, bu özelliğe tıklayarak yazdığınız yazıları yayınlayabilirsiniz. İlk başlangıçta yaptığımız ayarlarla siteye bağlanıyor ve yazımızı yayınlıyor. Eğer şifre ve kullanıcı ismimizi girmişsek ve diğer ayarlarımızı yaptıysak, program yazınızı sorunsuz bir şekilde yayınlayacaktır.

Peki başka hangi özellikleri kullanabiliriz. Windows Live'ın harita özelliğini ekleyebiliriz. Örneğin İstanbul'un hava durumu ya da yol durumu ile ilgili haritaları siteye ekleyebiliriz. Ayrıca, başka blog hesapları ekleyebilir ve sitenizin yani wordpress'in olanak sağladığı diğer özellikleri kullanabiliriz. Artık sıra sizde, eğer bir blog hesabınız varsa hemen yazmaya başlayabilirsiniz ya da yeni bir blog hesabı aldıktan sonra kendinizi en güzel şekilde ifade edebilirsiniz. Unutmayın, hiçbir şey için asla geç değildir; yeter ki isteyin!

Windows Live Writer (Windows)

Windows Live Writer is an impressive blog editor, and is probably the cleanest one. It provides the familiar user interface that one would expect from usual Microsoft applications. Writing a blog entry with intuitive features like a rich text editor and spell checker is easy. Users also have the ability to quickly add images and other media.

The distinctive feature that puts Live Writer ahead of the competition is that you can can add plugins to the editor. For instance, there are plugins that seamlessly integrate with Flickr and Facebook photos; word counting as well as many further features are available as well.

Live Writer is useful for people who don’t necessarily want to mess with HTML and just want to quickly write a blog post, but it’s also great for more advanced users with the ability to add specific features with plugins.

MarsEdit (Mac)

The main advantage of MarsEdit lies in its ability to integrate with other text editors. The client integrates cleanly with BBEdit, SubEthaEdit, TextMate, or TextWrangler. It has a simple yet robust user interface. Users can define powerful markup macros to insert commonly used snippets of code. The tool works with WordPress, Blogger, TypePad, Movable Type, LiveJournal, Drupal, and Vox. You can also quickly scan your Flickr library, then insert an image into your blog post with the click of a button.

Another nifty feature is the preview functionality. The tool allows you to build a template to match your blog, then let MarsEdit’s live preview show you how your posts will look before you publish them. Extensive AppleScript support makes it possible to add further features. Price: $29.95. A free 30-days-trial-version is available as well.

BlogDesk (Windows)

BlogDesk is a robust, multi-language blog editor that supports all of the popular blogging platforms except Blogger. If that isn’t a problem for you, then you’ll love the unique and intuitive features BlogDesk provides. The Image Wizard allows you to upload and edit pictures, without editing images in image processing applications. You can also define frequently used phrases and keywords to speed up your writing time, much like TextExpander (Mac).

Links can be easily inserted and edited. If you link to local files (such as MP3 or PDF), BlogDesk will automatically upload them. Dictionaries in 14 languages are available for the integrated spell checker. Posts already published can be edited afterwards and deleted directly from the server. In the Notebook you can insert and rearrange text before you actually use it in your weblog entry. For your convenience you can create multiple categories where text can be saved separately.

Zoundry Raven (Windows)

Zoundry Raven is a free advanced WYSIWYG-blog editor with XHTML editing, drag and drop from browser-functionality. It also provides the Unicode (UTF-8) support, quicklinks and a template-based preview. Users can manage multiple blogs online and offline and use a built-in indexer that allows to see posts by blogs, links, tags and images.

Zoundry Raven supports Blogger, TypePad, MovableType, MetaWeblog and LiveJournal. The tool is available as a portable application which you can use on your flash/thumb drive. Finally, you can use Raven to create and modify your WordPress Pages just like any other blog post and set WordPress tags as well as import tags from all of your posts.

It is worth mentioning that Zoundry Raven also has an integrated HTML validator built into the code view and includes a publish menu to finalize your decisions, tags, trackbacks, etc.

Ecto (Mac)

Ecto is one of the most popular blog editors, and has earned the respect of some top bloggers like Darren Rowse. It’s a powerful tool with all typical features (Rich text editor, spell check, draft saving, etc.), but it also allows you to extend the functionality by using plugins, much like Windows Live Writer. Amazon’s affiliate scheme seamlessly integrates in Ecto and makes it easier for you to link to a particular Amazon product page.

Ecto also has support for Flickr and del.icio.us. In addition, ecto also lists the tags you have used with del.icio.us and Flickr, so that you can reuse them for your blog entries. The only drawback is that the software costs $17.95, but you can try it out for free for 21 days.

w.bloggar (Windows)

w.bloggar is a professional blog editor for advanced users who are fairly technologically savvy. It’s snappy and has a lot more advanced features built-in than Live Writer. While the interface isn’t as intuitive or elegant as Live Writer and some of the others, it’s a useful little editor.

With w.bloggar you can save posts locally for further publishing, import text files, post to many blogs and ping to Weblogs.Com, blo.gs, Technorati and ping-o-matic. Also, you can download a portable version that you can take with your anywhere on a USB drive. Perfect for bloggers on the go!

Thingamablog (Window, Mac, Linux)

Thingamablog is a hybrid of a blog editor and RSS-feed reader. It’s not quite as polished as other blog editors, but is great for someone needing a cross-platform blog editor. Setting up the blog is a bit cumbersome for the first time, but not unbearable. You’ll need to have Java Virtual Machine downloaded and running on your machine to work.

Thingamablog has a few advanced features that are different from other blog editors. You can import RSS feeds, and you can post to your blog while reading your RSS feeds. It’s a nice program for bloggers who typically write news-related posts. The editor also allows publishing remotely to your blog via email and saving entries as drafts. Thingamablog is released under the terms of the GPL.

Qumana (Windows, Mac)

Qumana has an interesting feature that isn’t found in other blogging platforms. If you are interested in joining an ad network for your blog, Qumana has a built-in ad network (Qads) that allows you to insert ads into your post.

You can use Qumana when you are offline. Save your blog posts to your hard drive and upload whenever you like. Useful for bloggers on the move. Apart from standard features the editor has a handy little feature called the DropPad, which adds drag-n-drop capability to snag links, pictures and text to a desktop pad. Qumana is very intuitive and is definitely an option worth consdering for both newbies and advanced bloggers.

Scribefire (Firefox)

Scribefire is quite different from the other blog editors as it is a Firefox extension. When you want to blog about the page you are currently viewing, hit “F12″ and the scribefire extension pops up in the lower-half of your browser. You can blog about a specific web page without having to leave the browser. You can also click an icon to move blogging frame into a separate tab, if you’re going to need some more space.

Scribefire isn’t as feature-rich as an editor like Ecto or BlogDesk, but it is fast and easy, and works well for everybody in a hurry.

BlogJet (Windows)

If you are a power blogger, BlogJet is definitely a solution worth considering. While the application costs around $60, it manages to combine a number of useful tools in one clean, intuitive interface. It supports most blogging services, integrates with RSS-readers and also allows you to use keyword-shortcuts (like BlogDesk).

BlogJet cares about typography: it automatically replaces quotes and dashes with proper ones as you type. If you are on the road and there is no Internet-connection, or if you want to finish your post later, save it as draft. Then you can get back to finishing and publishing it. The tool also has Flickr and YouTube support, Spell Checker, Word Counter and Blog Statistics, Post Management and Searching. And BlogJet can automatically insert the title and the artist of the song playing in iTunes, Winamp or Windows Media Player.

If you are looking for a free alternative, stick with BlogDesk. It has almost the same features and is free. However, if a beautiful, intuitive design is important to you, then give BlogJet a shot. You won’t be disappointed.

Flock (Mac, Windows, Linux)

Flock is a web-browser that has a built-in blogging tool. The blogging tool allows you to blog directly from the page, similarly to Scribefire, with a keyboard shortcut or a mouse click. However, the interface on Flock is a bit nicer, and has a slightly more seamless integration than in case of Scribefire and Firefox. Also you can use the web clipping tool to save and store clips of information in your browser.

Flock is an optimal tool for simple bloggers who don’t need a lot of bells and whistles that come with other blogging editors.

Post2Blog (Windows)

On the surface, Post2Blog appears to be a very simple blogging tool. If you dig under the hood for a bit, you’ll notice that this lightweight blogging tool has some pretty nifty features. You can quickly add amazon affiliate links to your posts. It even has plugins for Firefox and Internet Explorer for quickly blogging a web page.

The tool also has a “Portable Mode” support, integration with RSS Bandit and Sharp Reader — you can post selected items from these RSS readers using Post2Blog plugin. You can also add Technorati, Del.icio.us, Buzzwords, 43 Things tags to your posts and earn money using “Insert Amazon Link” feature.

The only drawback is that the interface isn’t as elegant or intuitive as other Windows blogging platforms, and the tool isn’t supported by the developers.

Bleezer (Mac, Windows, Linux)

Bleezer is a light piece of software that has all standard features as well some advanced functionality which one would expect from robust editors. Spell checking, pinging services, uploading files and FTP capabilities are available. It’s a handy little tool that is quick and efficient. Again, it doesn’t have the beautiful design that BlogJet has, but it’s free and works smoothly. Bleezer is an optimal choice for advanced bloggers who can appreciate the advanced functionality that the software provides.

Using Bleezer you can work with every blogging service (even Blogger). You can also create custom markup by defining your own key strokes for custom HTML markup. As usual, you can also compose posts offline and post them when you want to. Windows and Linux users should extract the .zip file into a directory and double click the .jar file to run. You will need Java Virtual Machine.

Further Desktop Publishing Tools

Let’s take a look at the brief overview of further desktop blogging tools which may be also useful:

• AirPress (cross-plattform, Adobe Air)
  AirPress was a promising client with a file I/O API for saving FLV webcam videos record and ActionScript / JavaScript bridging to interact with the text editor made in HTML/Javascript. In the last release AirPress supported only WordPress and DotClear. The project’s official page (AdobeAir.org) has somehow disappeared few months ago. We don’t know the reason.
• SharpMT (Mobile, Windows Mobile 5/6, PocketPC)
  harpMT is an offline blogging tool that is designed for MovableType-based systems. There are three versions of the application: desktop, PocketPC, and SmartPhone, all of which share the same file format for offline drafts. The application uses text boxes for post entry: it was a design goal to not support WYSIWYG. It also includes the infrastructure to support plugins and XML-RPC calls that were designed to inteface with MT or TypePad. Freeware.

Conclusion

If you have little experience in blogging you might try either Flock, Windows Live Writer or Scribefire. Those three have fairly intuitive interfaces and don’t have all the advanced features that more robust programs have. Also, they are free so you can check out what application better manages to cover your needs.

Advanced bloggers looking for a bit more firepower should try Ecto, BlogJet or BlogDesk. BlogDesk works especially well for bloggers who frequently use photos in their posts (Image Wizard). Windows Live Writer and Ecto have extra functionality built in, as they both allow you to install plugins to add specific features.

Every desktop blog editor is a great benefit to any blogger’s toolkit, as it saves time and has features that traditional blog platforms don’t always have.

Ketika mengatur account blog baru melalui ScribeFire Account Wizard, selalu muncul error begini: Login Error. Please check your username and password for errors and try again. Saya sempat heran, karena baik path, username, dan password sudah benar, sama sekali tidak ada kesalahan pengetikan seperti yang muncul dalam pesan error tersebut.

Jika Anda pernah mengalami kesulitan yang sama, mungkin bisa coba tip berikut ini:

1. Login ke WP Admin.
2. Klik menu Settings > Writing.
3. Di bagian Remote Publishing, aktifkan pilihan Enable the WordPress, Movable Type, MetaWeblog and Blogger XML-RPC publishing protocols.
4. Jangan lupa klik tombol Save Changes di bagian bawah untuk menyimpan perubahan yang Anda lakukan.
5. Jangan lupa logout dari WP Admin.

Поддерживает блог-платформы  WordPress, MovableType, Drupal, Serendipity and ExpressionEngine. Поддерживается 14 языков интерфейса, русский, к сожалению, среди них не числится. Хорош для начинающих блоггеров не знакомых с BBCode и HTML.

6. Bleezer - бесплатный, впрочем как и все здесь представленные, блог-редактор для операционных систем Windows, OS X, Linux. Работает только в режиме WYSIWYG online и offline.

7. Post2Blog - отличный профессиональный блог-редактор со всякими чудесными "прибомбасами" входящими в комплект поставки. А именно: Тулбар для Microsoft Word, плагины для FireFox и Internet Explorer и многое другое. Интерфейс на трёх языках - английском, испанском и русском.

I haven’t updated this blog over the summer, though I checked it time to time. The students who are involved here are now in their third year (*cheers) and one of them said that this year would definitely be a tough year since they would be introduced to the concentration courses like poetry, fiction, playwriting, children’s literature, etc., for the first time. Since this blog is intended as a project of the CW101 course (Introduction to Creative Writing) which they had already taken in their second year, then my job as the site administrator is over. Oh, this really makes me sad. So are we dropping this?

No, not just yet. Now, I have to voice out my suggestion to them. As the official blogmaster of this site, my task is to post their works when they say so. The blog authors here are really good people (nah, I really mean it!) and we are all still deciding whether to post more of their works in the future. I really hope they’d do, because I don’t want to lose my job. *snickers. Besides, I don’t want to put this blog into some serious hiatus.

Also, Maddesk is also planning to expand the group. Whether for more contributors and editors, we are always open for any help. It’s always cool this way à (email: aprilfabula@gmail.com) or send the site administrator a message somewhere here.

I would also like to greet a happy birthday to one of the Maddesk blog authors – Henrietta Diana de Guzman. She’s turning 19 today June 6. She wrote Webbed Beauty, Beyond Her Rubrics Cube and Ginisang Gulay, Ang Pangaral ni Juan Tamad kay Ambisyosong Kasoy, A Helium Inside Papa’s Balloon, and Tainted Mind here in this blog. Happy Birthday!

Please visit the other CW101 blog from the same class, Purple Pad. The creative works posted in there were written by the students of creative writing of the same class. We’re separated in two groups, that’s why, so the people involved in the Purple Pad are the classmates/batchmates of the blog authors here in Maddesk.

Bleezer ma funkcję dodawania do Del.icio i Technorati. Post jest tworzony w tradycyjnym edytorze tekstu z możliwością formatowania i wstawiania linków oraz zdjęć. Po przełączeniu na tryb HTML zorientowani w tym języku mogą prowadzić edycję nieco bardziej wyrafinowaną.

W trybie edycji, już po przesłaniu posta na blog Wordpress.com zauważyłem, że trzeba poprawić polskie znaki diakrytyczne w tytule. Natomiast w tekście wpisu znaki są wyświetlane prawidłowo. Ot, taka ciekawostka. Poza tym muszę powiedzieć, żeBleezer chodzi dość chropowato, nieco się czasami zacina, ale rezultat jego pracy jest raczej zadowalający (oczywiście, nie tak jak Windows Live Writer)

This is how to start it. Select the tools> Accounts to see the image on the right side. Select "Another weblog service" from the radio selection and click on next.
You will get the the screen on the left after the click on next. Here you have to enter the weblog homepage URL - This is the blog home home page which You want to use. In my case it was http://kryptoz.wordpress.com. Username - Your WordPress username Password - Your password for the WP username. Additionally if you have the option for proxy setup.

After finishing the mentioned, when you click next, windows live writer will do its part and collect info from the WordPress for your account (styles, posts, keywords, etcetera) and you are ready to blog. There are a few plug-ins for the MS Writer, which are available at gallery@live.com. I did not find any of them interesting for me but, You are not me, so go have a look!

I am planning to use this as my primary weblog editor now. Not that I am a regular blogger, but it makes things easy whenever I want to scribble anything on the blog. Windows Live Writer saves me from, typing in the URL on my Firefox browser Address bar. Though, since I save my username and password in Windows Live Writer, I expected direct access to my dashboard (logged in) when I clicked on my link called "Dashboard" on Windows Live Writer. Currently it opens up WordPress login page. For me that should be okay for now, unless I get more lazy and want the auto login to the dashboard from Windows Live Writer.

Apart from this a few that are in my 'Apps to try' list are...

BlogDesk, Ecto, w.bloggar and QTM

These AFAIK are free tools which runs in either Windows (majority) and Linux (QTM) or both (QTM).

Flock nella nuova versione aggiunge nuove funzionalità, quali la tab "People" che si occupa di tenere aggiornata la lista degli amici (in servizi quali Flickr o YouTube) in linea, e migliora i servizi precedenti, integrando finalmente tutto nella pagina home principale, chiamata My World (già presente nella Release 0.9).

Da qui si può accedere a tutti i tab: People, Media (una barra orizzontale in cui si può effettuare una navigazione del tutto parallela a quella della pagina del browser, nelle foto e nei video che cercherete e che vi si presenteranno direttamente in questa barra), Feeds (un lettore di news incorporato), Favorites (i normali segnalibri), Accounts and Services (vi permette di rimanere connessi ai vostri account di WP, Flickr, del.icio.us, e molti altri), Web Clipboard (utile per le citazioni nei vostri blog), Post to My Blog (molti i blog supportati, tra i quali anche Wordpress), Upload Media (a servizi quali Flickr e YouTube).

In definitiva è proprio la filosofia di Firefox spinta all'ennesima potenza. Unico neo di questo browser, e un potenziale "show-stopper" come dicono gli americani, è il fatto di non avere molte versioni localizzate, tra le quali manca appunto quella italiana. Il browser è piacevole da usare e non vi stanca con funzioni inutili. Disponibile per Linux, Mac e Windows (in rigoroso ordine alfabetico).

2. ScribeFire
ScribeFire (previously Performancing for Firefox) is a full-featured blog editor that integrates with your browser and lets you easily post to your blog. You can drag and drop formatted text from pages you are browsing, take notes, and post to your blog.

After installing ScribeFire, you will see a tiny notepad like icon on your Firefox Status Bar. Clicking on it will open the ScribeFire blog editor on the browser's active page. This editor will take up half of the screen space. If you right-click the ScribeFire icon, you can choose to open the editor in a new tab or in a separate window.ScribeFire is pretty convenient in a way that you don't need to install a heavy program and you can open the editor on your browser in a jiffy. It has a rich text formatting feature, HTML page editing, and a live preview option for your posts before publishing them. Image uploads are possible on FTP accounts. You can categorize your posts, insert Technorati tags, and access your del.icio.us page from the ScribeFire page. You can access your last 10 posts and save unpublished drafts as notes, but you cannot insert tables like in Live Writer.

You can have multiple blog accounts with ScribeFire. It is compatible with multiple blog programs like Wordpress, Blogger, Typepad, Drupal, Textpattern, MetaWeblog, etc. Finally, there is a support forum in case you want to ask any of the other ScribeFire users for advice.

3. Qumana
Qumana is a Blog Editor which is can run in Windows XP OS and MAc OS. Qumana has one feature that other blog editors don't have - it has its advertising network, Q ads, integrated into the blog editor. So when you write a post on the editor, you can insert an ad on the blog editor itself. You can define the type of ad that will show up by specifying ad keywords. However, the irony is that Q ads don't seem to have many ads to display. One ad that was coming up on every post, irrespective of any keyword I type, was about Qumana itself

This aside, Qumana has all the requirements of a good blog editor - rick text formatting, multiple blog accounts, insert tags and categories, download recent posts, video insert, etc. The editor is light and I didn't experience any hang-ups.
Another things that sets Qumana apart is the DropPad - a small clipboard-like utility where you can drag and drop text, links, and images. You can double click on the DropPad to open the blog editor with all your items inserted already.

4. w.Bloggar
w.Bloggar comes with a number of formatting options, supports multiple blog accounts, has spell check and categories features, and many more. You can set up your FTP to upload files and pictures. The editor comes in the HTML mode and you get to see all the code in your post itself. This might be a bit confusing for new bloggers, but there is a preview mode that should help.

The best part of w.Bloggar is the speed with which it publishes posts - it's lightning fast.

5. Zoundry
Zoundry provides an easy set up for your blog accounts. You need to provide your blog url and let Zoundry's auto-discovery feature find your blog platform and API settings. You can download up to 500 of your blog's previous entries onto your computer and this can serve as your local blog backup.

The editor has a WYSIWYG and a HTML interface. You will find plenty of options in the formatting toolbar. Setting post categories and tags for Technorati are supported. There is a also a spell checker and a language translator as well.

You can use Zoundry to add affiliate links on your posts and earn commissions whenever someone buys through your links.

Zoundy has a browser toolbar for Firefox and IE that has a 'Blog This' feature, and links through which you can share product recommendations on your email or social networking pages. You can also earn shopping rebates using the toolbar.

6. Thingamablog
Thingamablog is an open source blog editor and a feed reader combined into one cool desktop application. It runs independently of any blog host and you can use it for posting to your FTP or SFTP blogs. Thingamablog also provides a set of some blog templates as well if you want to create a new blog.

Configuring your Thingamablog for the first time might be a bit taxing if you are a newbie. However if you head off to the Thingamablog site, then there is a good tutorial available.

Thingamablog's post editor has all the basic formatting options complete with a spell checker. You can see your posts in WYSIWYG or HTML source view. Images can be uploaded from the computer or you can link to an image online. You can set up multiple blog accounts, import entries from RSS feeds, and organize your entries by category.

Thingamablog requires Java Virtual Machine to be installed on your computer.

7. Flock
Flock has an easy to use blog editor that works with blogging platforms like Blogger, Blogsome, Livejournal, Typepad, Wordpress, Xanga, and other self hosted platforms. You can configure multiple blog accounts on it.

You can use Flock's web clipboard to collect snippets while surfing the web, add pictures from your Flickr or Photobucket accounts or upload a picture from the computer. Flock also has a Quick Uploader that you can use to upload files on the web.

Flock's editor however has a few formatting feature and you are limited to a few font families and font sizes. There are no 'Insert table' or 'Strikethrough' buttons. Although you can tag your posts, you cannot categorize them.

Final verdict: you might want to use Flock for quick posts, but the advanced blogger who needs a feature-rich editor might find Flock a bit lacking.

8. Blog Desk
Blog Desk comes in English, German, and Spanish versions and supports multiple blog platforms. However it seems strange that they do not have Blogger on its list of supported blog platforms, which means that those using Blogger have to configure their blogs manually. Blog Desk has some pretty cool features such as the Image Wizard that lets you insert pictures on your blog and edit them as well, dictionaries in 14 languages, frequently used phrases, and a notebook. There is support for Technorati tags, a pinger, and a spell checker too.

If you are using Blog Desk on Vista, you might have to download the dhtmled.ocx file from the Microsoft download page. Details are given at the Blog Desk FAQ page.

9. Post2Blog
Post2Blog is very light and there are some good features on offer as well. The formatting bar is rich with options and you can insert smileys, strike texts, and add music. There are options to add ads from Amazon in your posts. Other features like Technorati tags or pinging are there as well. Post2Blog also provides good integration with RSS readers like RSS Bandit and Sharp Reader. You can upload images along with your posts on Flicker, Imageshack, or a chosen FTP site. You can download your recent posts and create PDFs of them if you wish.

Post2blog has Firefox and IE addons and a MS Word toolbar as well so that you can post directly from these places. You can export Post2blog files and settings to any portable device as well. One feature I couldn't find was inserting post categories.

Post2Blog is compatible with multiple blog platforms including Blogger, WordPress, Typepad, MovableType, LiveJournal, and Blogware.

10. Bleezer
Bleezer supports multiple blog platforms like Blogger, Movable Type, Wordpress, Drupal, etc. and works on Widnows, Mac, and Linux systems. This WYSIWYG tool has the basic formatting options, spell checker, support for Technorati and Del.icio.us tags, post categories, and ping service. You can upload pictures using its 'Upload File' feature and by setting up your FTP site.

Bleezer is a no-frills blog editor whose biggest upside is its lightness; you won't even feel it's running, which makes it ideal for users with older computers.
