The audio corruption may occur if the Dell XPS 730 computer have a Creative Labs X-Fi card installed in it. Apparently, the users complaint of crackling sounds that come out of their computers when they move their mice.

The work-around so far is by downloading and installing this: XPS 730-010004 BIOS Update. It's the version 1.0.4 of the Dell XPS 730 machine. You can check further info on this in Dell's Community Forum website or Dell's Support website.

That was until today. After about 4 or 5 attempts to switch it on and off it juts had no life.

I did send an email near the end of August asking the people who built the machien for me what they thought the problem might be.  They suggested that I try resetting the BIOS and if that didn't work then I'd need to replace the CMOS battery in the Motherboard. Due to project I didn't get around to resetting the BIOS (and I just plain forgot last week.)

So you can imagine how I felt this morning when the PC would not turn on, and I knew that I hadn't tried to fix it even though I'd had the issue for a while...Therefore I knew that the only real step I could take at this stage was to check the battery and replace it. To my surprise I discovered that the Motherboard uses a basic Lithium battery that a lot of calculators/watchs etc use. So it just goes to show that not all parts of the computer are mystical and magical! :P

After the magic of Compressed Air in a Can worked its wonders on the dust, it was possible to see that.. well nothing looked wrong. Got the battery out (luckily not welded in) checked the voltage on the battery, which seemed fine, put it back in and tried to start the pc up... NO JOY!

To cut a long post short, I bought a new battery (unsure whether it would make any difference, but it was the cheapest way to check tbh), put the new battery in, plugged and switched on the machine.. and... BEEP. YES! the BIOS beeped!! Thank goodness for that.

So the machine is now on.. and I am a bit loath to turn it off.. I shall sort out resetting the BIOS soon I think. Hopefully that's all that was causing the trouble... (and hopefully I've not jinxed myself there!)

Concept and Creation

Simply put, Shigeru Miyamoto is a world renown video games designer, who is currently the senior managing director of Nintendo Co. Ltd., as well as the general manager of Nintendo's EAD division (Entertainment Analysis and Development). Mr. Miyamoto has worked fervently on the most famous of Nintendo's first party titles, he in fact was the creator of Mario, Donkey Kong, Fox McCloud, Captain Olimar, Link, Captain Falcon and their respective game series. Shigeru Miyamoto has ben given very high praise during the course of his life, being called "The Father of Modern Video Games" and being recognized by Time Magazine as well as receiving a Lifetime Achievement award. But like most cultural icons of today, Mr. Miyamoto wasn't born into greatness, he had rather humble beginnings.

Born in Sonobe, Kyoto of Japan (a place now known as Nantan) in 1952, Miyamoto fused his childhood experiences with art and exploration, things that would influence his later career with games like The Legend of Zelda. Young Miyamoto was also very interested in music, and has taken his spare time into playing the guitar and banjo. It wasn't until 1977 that Mr. Miyamoto would come into contact with Nintendo, when he was hired as a staff artist. And in the 1980's when Nintendo needed a game to ship to the US that would replace radar scope, Miyamoto produced Donkey Kong. This game would not only propel Nintendo forward as the world's leading company for interactive entertainment, but it would also propel Mr. Miyamoto's career into becoming what is perhaps "the world's most famous and influential video-game designer."

The Mario Games

The Mario Bros. games were a spin-off of the Donkey Kong arcade game featuring Mario (known as Jumpman from Donkey Kong) as well as his brother Luigi. It is this game series which is said to be the founding principle games for most of all the current generation. These games were also known by many to be the games that "saved the video game industry" along with the NES and various other Nintendo contributions in 1985 following the "market crash of 1983". Donkey Kong would also find himself in his own series of games. From Donkey Kong to Super Mario Galaxy, the Mario games have been a staple of the interactive entertainment industry, and are games that should not be overlooked.

The Zelda Games

The Legend of Zelda series is an undeniably famous series of video games that were created by Miyamoto based from his childhood explorations. These series would eventually inspire thousands as they too can adventure through world as an enigmatic character. Building on the fundamentals of adventure and personal growth as a player, The Legend of Zelda games would last years 'till this very day from it's first appearance to it's latest main game, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. The series features Link, a now famous video game character, as well as Princess Zelda, an icon that has been the glue and nails of the game series plot (and titles).

The StarFox Games

These games were at first very critically acclaimed games, which featured Fox McCloud, a fox-humanoid who has to defend Corneria from the evil forces of Andross with his team called "Star Fox". The game was known for helping to pioneer the use of 3-dimensional graphics in video games and became known as one of Nintendo's most famous franchises. However as of late there have been little new of any more upcoming StarFox games, since StarFox Command for the Nintendo DS...

The F-Zero Games

When they first came out, the F-Zero games, which were a series of futuristic racing games, was a loved series of games known for very high speed racing with unique characters and settings complete with awesome, vitalizing music with a large amount of challenge. These games were to be known as the best racing game series ever by some, but the past few games (created by outside development houses) were considered by Miyamoto himself to be a disappointment that did not deliver.

The Pikmin Games

One of the more recent games of Miyamoto's are the Pikmin games, staring Captain Olimar. These games ushered in an innovative new style of play, as a sort of RTS (real-time strategy) game. There have only been two games in the series (Pikmin and Pikmin 2) but they both have been highly praised by the media and loved by consumers and fans as a wonderful gaming experience. As of late the praise for the two games have pushed consumers, fans and the media to ask for more of Captain Olimar and the beloved pikmin, while Miyamoto himself assuring them that a new Pikmin installment will come.

The Wii Games

The most recent series of Games created by Miyamoto are the Wii games. These games are the very embodiement of innovation, and strive to expand the audience of gamers to those who previously did not play games, or used to play games or quit. These games are perceived to be the start of "Nintendo's Revolution", and the games simple concepts and designs have shown so much success especially compared to the more costly, time-consuming, traditional, core-market games of today. The Wii games, which are Wii Sports, Wii Play, Wii Fit and the upcoming games Wii Music and Wii Sports Resort all have shown to push the speculated capacity of the video game market and bring new definition to video game (or rather, interactive entertainment). These games have effectively caused the start of a revolution in the industry which is already evident in the attitudes of the most involved of the more traditional gamers.

What to expect on Nintendo's event

Siempre como muchos vengo siguiendo el "emulador de ps2", pero cada tanto corroboraba las versiones las probaba con algunos de mis juegos de varias formas y configuraciones, al ver que no andaban de forma decente lo dejaba para esperar actualizaciones de los diferentes desalloradores de "Plug-ins".

Al haber pasado tanto tiempo estaba desesperanzado ya, y con mucha rabia de ver el "Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkaichi 3" de ps2 al cual no habia podido jugar; es mas; y peor el "burst Limit" ya de ultima generacion.

Por que se me habian ido las ganas de leer mas cosas al respecto, por mi cuenta tome la decision de bajarme el tenkaichi 3 de igual forma para tenerlo siempre, para la eventual oportunidad de hacerme con un ps2, pero de paso lo probe con algunas cosas que le agregue a mi "PCSX2". OOOOHHHH¡¡¡¡¡ EH AHI MI GRAN SORPRESA (disculpenme los superados que ya lo sabian, pero como dije, ya estaba sin ganas), me funcionaba de forma espectacular, no lo podia creer, ahora ya eh terminado el modo historia y no eh llegado ni siquiera a la mitad de compras de las capsulas.

Con esa alegria desvordada, me adentre a probar mas juegos, (estoy en eso), y estoy jugando a otro que tuve que dejar al perder mi ps2, el "Disgaea 2", se que no es un titulo re taquillero, pero bueno tiene muchos seguidores, que juegan el equivalente en horas al de muchos gamers de varios juegos juntos.

Estoy probando otro, el "Tales of the Abyss" ps2, saga tales nunca eh podido jugar, (estoy viendo comprarme una "Xbox 360", el "Tales of Vesperia" esta causando gran revuelo. Lo que probe ayer es que funciona muy bien el Abyss solo se me colgo al entrar en el menu y presionar sobre los iconos que tienen opciones descolgables, pero creo que se puede jugar sin entrar en ellas, noes indispensable.

BUENO DEJO LOS DETALLES, NO TENGAN MUCHO EN CUENTA MI PC, LES DIGO A LOS QUE TIENEN UNA MAS BASICA.( IGUAL NO ES MUCHO LA MIA ).

ATHLON 64 X2 6000+ (1Mb. Cache) - 2 Gb Ram 800 Ghz. Dual Channel - XFX Geforce 8600 GT 512 Mb. OC (por mi nomas, riva tuner), en un mother MSI K9AGM3-F

( pero me funcionaba igual de bien con todo esto igual, pero antes tenia un 4000+ de procesador)

y el emulador los dejan todo como esta nomas por defecto, (hacen mitos de todo esto, no hay secretos solo saber un poco de sus hardwares)

Qual o problema?

Se agora são 12:00h no meu linux, serão 15:00h no meu windows, mas por que?

Simples, para o linux você está -03:00 em relação ao Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), trocando em miúdos, voce está com o fuso dessincronizado.

Na realidade quem está de acordo com o GMT não é o Windows, e sim a BIOS do sistema.

Como resolver?

Se seu sistema for Debian ou _debia_based ou provável outra distro, existirá um arquivo a ser editado no seguinte caminho

/etc/default

(lembre-se que pelo terminal você pode chegar lá com o comando cd)

No seu editor de preferência abra o arquivo

rcS

na seguinte linha

mude para : UTC =no

e assim não estará mais submetido ao GMT, e feito isso:

salve o arquivo e na próxima reinicialização tudo estará ok.

Before I did his upgrade to an operating system that works out of the box and is very secure and looks great, I had been wanting to update my Dell Vostro laptop's BIOS and I had to this from a bootable DOS disk since the BIOS is only available as an .exe file.  I decided that I would create a DOS bootable USB stick.  I found a few how to's on how to do this from a linux based computer.  Nothing I tried worked.  I took the decision that in October when I would upgrade to Ubuntu 8.10, I would either install XP and have a dual boot or install XP just for updating the BIOS then format the hard drive and install Ibex.

With Jacques laptop at home I had another option to update the BIOS.  I removed both hard drives from the two laptops, placed Jacques' HD in my Vostro 1500 and installed the BIOS updates from XP.  It worked.  It took less time than trying to create a bootable DOS USB stick.  I think that I'll create a USB with XP that is bootable with my eeePC just in case there are more updates to the BIOS.  Problem solving is my forte.

Modify SMBIOS Base Board Name to "1000H"

When your computer starts up either hold the DEL key or when you see a message saying change setting or something similar to that press DEL. No we are in the bios, you should see a blue screen with a few menu options. These setting were designed for a ABIT Bios but I’m sure you’ll find the below options in newer motherboards. The order of these options may also be different so based on your system you may have to look around for it's location on your system.

SEL 100/66# Signal - Set LOW

Boot Sequence - C,A,SCSI is fastest, doesn’t really matter whatever suits you best

It's just an explanation and/or suggested settings for the BIOS. Nothin more, nothing less

• Pengecekkkan kondisi hardware melalui device manager.

• Pengecekkan kondisi Start Up menu dan fungsi-fungsi dasar sistem operasi yaitu mengkopi file, memindah file, mengganti nama file, membuat folder/direktori dan lain-lain.

• Pengecekkan prosedur shutdown.

b.aktivasi program aplikasi prosedurnya sebagai berikut :

• Pengecekkan program aplikasi dengan menjalankan program dan menutup program.

• Pengecekkan fungsi-fungsi menu program aplikasi.

• Pengecekkan besarnya file-file program aplikasi, yaitu dibandingkan dengan master, terutama file-file eksekusi (file yang berekstensi EXE dan COM) dan file hasil program aplikasi misal dokumen dari Ms Word.

• Pengecekkan terhadap kecepatan mengakses program aplikasi dan data.

• Setelah itu, pada opsi Boot Sequency Anda tekan tombol , kemudian

Anda pilih opsi 1st Boot Device nya menjadi CD-Rom. Kemudian buka

drive CD-Rom Anda dan masukkan CD Original Windows XP Propessional

ke dalam drive CD-Rom, kemudian Anda tekan tombol pada keyboard,

tujuannya adalah untuk menyimpan hasil setting-an Anda, selanjutnya tekan

tombol untuk keluar dari sistem BIOS dan restart dari sistem.

4) Hidupkan masing-masing komputer (dan juga hub) dengan menekan saklar pada komputer, jangan menghidupkan komputer dengan memasukkan colokan ke stop kontak ketika saklar dalam keadaan on.

5) Setelah booting windows selesai berikan nama komputer secara unik (identifikasi komputer dalam jaringan)!

6) Selanjutnya konfigurasikan NIC anda!

7) Lakukan penginstalan protocol jaringan!

8) Konfigurasikan TCP/IP anda!

9) Berikan IP Address pada komputer anda!

10) Ulangi Langkah 5-9 untuk setiap komputer yang ada pada jaringan!

11) Ujilah TCP/IP anda menggunakan instruksi ipconfig!

12) Ujilah koneksi komputer anda dengan jaringan dengan ping!

13) Cobalah lakukan komunikasi dengan komputer lain dalam satu jaringan!

14) Jika telah selesai, matikanlah komputer dengan benar!
