Maxdavinci at Dappan Koothu - This man is innovative in his blog posts. He talks to Gods via Baba Bangali and questions them like Karan Thapar. He watches every Bollywood movie and alerts the entire human race to avoid the bad ones. I mean he is practically a messenger of Human Rights!

Shivya at The Shooting star - She is a delightful writer of her life experiences, from bungee jumping to F1. I can proudly say that I know someone who has seen the First ever Singapore Formula 1 grand prix under flood lights.

Sriniani - He is a very informative blogger and one of the first few who appreciated my efforts here. I just wish he blogs more often than he does, but he deserves the award for the way he brings out rare contents even if it is less frequent.

Twisted DNA - This man brings out the normal life around us in a very hilarious way. His replies to comments are very interesting and funny, and will make you revisit his blog just for that. I liked that so much, I am replying the same way to the comments in my blog. Beware of stomach cramps due to extreme hilarity.

As I always say, all the folks on my blogroll deserve an award for their brilliance and they are there in my blogroll just for that reason. Keep up the great work folks.

I made curry paste, this evening. In a mortar and pestle. That's how it came about. It was good, but not great. I'll report when I create something worth sharing. Have a photo, though.

So, also, I got an award.

You want to hear something sad? It's my first ever award! Woooooo. I get such a buzz every time people link to my blog (all, what, 5 times now?), or comment, or want to read it... why would you? It's really very exciting for me. Simple thrills. Anyway, I got my award, all because I copped-out and didn't want to write a post. It was a little bit because, y'know, posting every day is hard, but it was also a general comment on life, which is a bit of a challenge, in all. Yeah, bla bla, people don't want to know the personal stuff, right? Blogging's actually really hard for me. Sitting and writing something on a computer. I can't really explain it. I don't even know what I'm trying to say. I'll go with, thanks, Big Cat. This means more to me than you probably realise. Cheers.

In other small excitements, someone favorited my first photo on Flickr. And I didn't even take it! It was the one of the cat with the balloon. It is an awfully good photo, I agree. Anyway, this dude has an awesome favorites collection, mostly of great cat photos. So you might like to take a look.

Hanoi (VNA) – Malaysian low-cost carrier AirAsia has won the Best Asian Low-Cost Carrier Award from Asia Pacific's leading travel news publisher, TTG, said Bernama news agency.

The airline won the award for the second time after industry stakeholders, including travel agents, tour operators and destination management companies, voted for it in a three-month poll conducted by the TTG.

It won the same award in 2005, the news agency added.

AirAsia's regional head of Commercial Kathleen Tan was quoted as saying that AirAsia would continue to raise its bars of service level and work closely to support its industry partners to boost travel demand.

“AirAsia has flown over 55 million guests and we are certain our innovation through the internet has made travel booking seamless, fast and convenient to the new generation of travellers, thus accelerating travel demand and changing travel landscapes,” Kathleen Tan said.-

I'm not sure if Stein Toennesson knew the final decision already when he alluded that it could be Gao Zhisheng or Hu Jia.

But his comments made the most of the Nobel Peace Prize's global effect. It is interesting that the CCP found it necessary to "hopes" that the Committee in Oslo would choose "the right person".

Mr Ahtisaari has won the prize. But some of the luster will shine on Hu Jia and Gao Zhisheng, too.

For all those who don't know what SOYA is, look here. It's Spirit of Youth Awards, in association with noise which is an Australian Federal Government initiative and sponsored by Qantas. The prize is pretty good, $5000 worth of flights, $5000 cash and mentorship from one of the industry leaders for winners in each of the 7 catergories. For example this year's photography mentor is Stephen Dupont, fashion mentor is Peter Morrissey, pretty big names there.

This is the 5th year SOYA's been running and 2nd year I've entered. Once I've taken a good look at this year's shortlist, I can't help but feel really seriously pissed off and angry. I've been on noise for quite a few years now, it started off as a base for young emerging Australian creatives, now it's expanded to world wide. Until last year, SOYA's age cut off was 25, setting it as a unique award program for young people. This year, they changed it to 30. The entry process has changed as well, aside from submitting a series of your work, you were also asked to submit as much support materials as you can, things like magazine write ups, other awards, professional websites, etc. After going through each shortlisted photographer's websites, I can now say SOYA is no longer an award for emerging artists and that's what pisses me off. So what's the point of SOYA now? It's just another award. What's the difference between it and other creative awards now? What set SOYA apart before was its direct, focused aim at youth. $5000 flight money for poor young people like me, so we can get out and see the world. If you are a well established artist, I don't see why you need that.

Andrew Quilty is one of the shortlisted photographers this year, he is apart of the highly acclaimed Aussie photography collective Oculi. On the music shortlist is Kate Miller-Heidke, she is signed to SONY BMG and was nominated for 4 Arias last year. Oh come fucking on now! Hardly emerging!

SOYA, you've changed! I don't think I'll consider entering it for the next few years at least, I'm not an established photographer and no, my folio isn't at the standards as those shortlisted. And when I'm 29, a jet setting internationally acclaimed photographer, I'll come back and conquer you SOYA, even if it's just be another notch on the belt!

Feel free to defend SOYA, I'd like to hear some different views.

    2008 MetLife Foundation Community-Police Partnership Awards Announced

    NEW YORK, Oct. 9 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- For the seventh year,
MetLife Foundation and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) are
honoring innovative partnerships between community organizations and
police, which promote neighborhood safety and revitalization. Eleven

provided targeted enforcement against graffiti and gang crimes, resulting

Ha Long won ’ASEAN Environmentally Sustainable City’ Award hosted by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in Hanoi yesterday.

This is the first time the 2008 ASEAN Environmentally Sustainable City Award to be presented to ten ASEAN representative cities which have achievements on enhancing living environment quality as well as on raising awareness of environmental protection and sustainable development among ASEAN member nations’ people and leaders.

Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Pham Khoi Nguyen, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN Nicholas Tandi Dammen, Chairperson of ASEAN Working Group on Environmentally Sustainable Cities Liana Bratasida and officials attended the award presentation ceremony.

This activity lies within the framework of the activities of 11th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Environment held in Hanoi from October 5-10.

The VAccolade Weekly Business Entrepreneur is given out to member of VA Networking, nominated by someone who felt the person met the award qualifications. This designation means quite a bit to me, primarily because someone nominated me.  Those are the best kinds of awards; peer-nominated, it means you meant enough for someone to take the time to say so.   Whoever you are thank you!

VA Networking has been on of the main associations through which I have been getting support, knowledge, training and more for my new life as a Virtual Assistant.  They have many resources available with their free membership, and even more with the paid one - VA Insiders.  Being an Insider has given me access to so many time saving resources, I can't help but recommend it to anyone starting out as a Virtual Assistant.

Have ya met Ria yet?  She's a kick ass chick.  Not only is she a strong woman, but she can also kick some ass- we're talking black belt baby.  This is one wicked cool girl who is so well spoken, funny, can put out a rant (mad props on that babe), and is adorable doing so!  I've found we have a lot in common ;)

Imagine my surprise when she nominated me for an award over at the BLOGGERS CHOICE AWARDS site.  First of all, the Best Blog about "stuff".  And, yes sir-ee, that's me; writing about "stuff"  I love to write about everyday stuff.  So, I'm taking this nomination to the bank- hopefully the bank wont go under :shock:

Best Animal Blogger?  Well hey now... that makes me feel warm and fuzzy (and I didn't even win the lotto)- it just makes me feel excited because I do love my Dachshund Cozmo (18 mos old now) and overall, I'm animal crazy.  So thank you so much for thinking of me Ria.

I had never heard of this, but it sounds so "officially" wonderful - I cannot imagine anyone voting for me but either way I get these cool badges to show off *proudly looks onward*!
