Well it's here(unofficially), but at least I have the trailer in High Definition goodness for your viewing pleasure. Evidently the trailer leaked May 12th(monday) and it is unofficial as of now. The release date is July 25th(It's probably going to change ).The trailer looks decent, my only suggestion would be: change the name? It just doesn't really seem to suit the movie, but thats just personal taste. Watch the trailer and decide for yourself:

I noticed it again. Someone complaining about receiving an “automated rejection message

I noticed it again. Someone complaining about receiving an "automated rejection message" for an application to edit, that stated "you have chosen a category that is already well represented" and that they should "apply for a category that is less represented". Their belief is usually, that the category hasn't been updated in many months (or years) and the category still had a "Volunteer To Edit" link on it. So it must not be well represented. Unfortunately, these comments are misleading to anyone who hasn't applied to become an editor. The recipient of this letter has failed to mention what the actual denied application letter said, and chosen to focus on one small part of it that is likely not the real problem.

Firstly, there are NO automated responses to application acceptance or denials. If you apply, the response you receive may be one of the standard messages (or a modified version) but its been generated by a human being and done so because they reviewed your application and determined that this response was the most applicable. The entire section of the above denied application message reads:

Although we would like you to join us as a volunteer editor, you have chosen a category that is already well represented, or is broader than we typically assign to a new editor. We would encourage you to re-apply for a category that has fewer editors or is smaller in scope, in order to increase your chances of being accepted.

The key part of this is almost always "or is broader than we typically assign to a new editor". In almost all cases of this nature, the category is either too large (typically having more than a hundred listed sites, or large/spammy suggestion pools) or so broad in scope that few sites would be listed there and it would be too much for an editor in training to try and maintain without more experience. The rest of this message is almost always 'forgotten' when someone posts a complaint about being denied on an application. Generally speaking, a category of less than a hundred listed sites is a good place to start an editors training.

One of the main reasons for a new editor to start in a smaller category, is because it provides a safer learning environment for them. No matter what the pre-existing state of the category is, a smaller category provides the chance for an editor to learn without too many complications. Also having access in a smaller section of the directory to start out, will help limit the amount of damage that mistakes made by a new editor can do. Remember, even if your application makes a good impression on the reviewer, it can only give a glimmer of insight into your potential skills as an editor. A smaller category makes it much easier and more manageable for a newbie trial run.

Do not be discouraged by a denied application or three. Many (most?) of us failed to get close enough on the first attempt, for a reviewer to take a chance on us. I think it was my third or fourth attempt before I got it in the ball park. Besides being able to identify and take the appropriate steps to rectify problems with your own denied application, helps to demonstrate many of the qualities a good editor possesses. Unless the reviewer left comments suggesting a future application wouldn't be necessary, please take some time to work out and correct the problems with the denied application and re-apply. There is no set time period for waiting to reapply, once you are ready just go for it.

In an expansion of the relationship between CBS Radio (parent company of Last.fm) and AOL, a deal has been struck to have Last.fm power AOL's internet radio efforts in the European theater. Mark Walsh of Online Media Daily transmits the details:

The alliance builds on a deal struck in March under which CBS Radio is providing AOL Radio an array of content in the U.S., including over 150 music, news, talk and sports stations. In addition to providing content, CBS has assumed responsibility for ad sales for all of AOL's 200 online stations as well as the 140 stations it brings to the table.

Last month, Last.fm reach a separate agreement with CBS Radio to stream live broadcasts from the network's radio stations, while giving listeners from the CBS Radio Internet Network access to Last.fm's library of free online music.

These two agreements alone signal major advancement in the evolution of terrestrial radio's approach. CBS is extending its broadcasts onto the Internet, while their listeners are gaining expanded access to music through the Last.fm library. All in all, a lovely synergistic evolution.

The latest partnership allows AOL Radio's European users to listen to any track repeatedly on Last.fm as well as providing access to other content including videos, pictures and event listings. A recommendation feature also allows people to share and discover new music.

With 21 million unique visitors globally per day, Last.fm brings muscle to the table to complement AOL's legendary engagement with its user base. The new on-demand music service will start off in France, Germany and the U.K. If things adhere to the proposed production schedule the service should roll out across other European nations over the next several months.

People are using RSS readers more and more and Google's making it social. I now get feeds shared to me every day and they're usually the most interesting ones. For instance the image below was from a post that was shared to me by Julian and i also think it does a good job representing Yahoo's efforts in the Reader space. MyYahoo is so 90's, get with the program Y!

Search engine robots and others

The following table lists the search engines that spider the web, the IP addresses that they use, and the robot names they send out to visit your site. Version numbers are usually included in the robot names, but are omitted here except where it implies a visit from a different IP address or (as in inktomi) a different search engine.

Often multiple IP addresses are used, in which case we just give a flavour of the names or numbers. Inktomi is a company that offers search engine technology and is used by a number of sites (e.g. www.snap.com and www.hotbot.com)

Wherever <nn> appears this indicates a number of different digits may be used.

(warnnig! THIS IS A PASTE FROM A PROTECTED ARTICLE . YOU CAN SEE IT HERE : Search engine robots )

The title DMOZ Is Like Gold caught my eye today. I thought to myself, thats great another “of

The title DMOZ Is Like Gold caught my eye today. I thought to myself, thats great another "official" posting is on the blog. That's gonna be good news, posts have been rather few and spread out lately. Then I read the post and my heart sank. The blog post was to thank another blog for 'showing DMOZ some love' by including it favorably in a post. Unfortunately the love being shown was, misplaced and out and out wrong.

Firstly to be clear, the article that the DMOZ Blog is applauding is a direct copy of an article written by another blog a couple of weeks earlier. So we are not even officially thanking original content for the love, rather only a copy. Thats kind of ironic, but certainly not funny in the least.

Secondly, editors have long been battling the magic bullet theory. This article basically continues all of the mis-information that editors have tried to correct for a long time. DMOZ is not more important than other quality links, in the grand scheme of things. Plenty of well placed, high ranking sites have no DMOZ listing. On the other hand many listed sites in DMOZ fair poorly in search results.

Here are some other problems with the article:

Getting a site into DMOZ is like Gold. Google loves links from DMOZ and your site will reap the benefits. - I have never seen any evidence to support that theory, in fact most that I would consider experts say that there is no more weight given to A DMOZ listing than any other quality link. Therefore, its good to have as many quality links as possible, but plenty of sites are very successful in search results without a DMOZ listing.

Find the perfect category for your site and check to see if it has an editor. If you see a link "Volunteer to edit this category" try and find another relevant location. Pages without active editors take much longer to get listed into. - Wrong. Most categories in DMOZ are without a named editor, having a named editor does not mean a faster review time. There are a couple hundred editors with permissions to edit in any given category. They are just as likely to be editing in a category without a named editor, as a category editor is to edit in one with their name on it. Suggesting a site to a category other than the most relevant category, will do the opposite. Many times an editor will find the mis-submitted site and just forward it along un-reviewed to the proper category. Thus putting it back at the bottom of the pool. In a lot of cases, the editor that finds it won't even have permissions (or interest) in editing the category it should have been suggested. Just suggest it to the best category in the first place, thats the best course of action.

Once you find the perfect directory submit your site every 4-6 months until listed. If you are lucky you will get in eventually. - Brilliant <insert sarcasm>! This is the worst bit of 'advice' yet. Not only has it suggested that you slow down your own review time by overwriting previous suggestions (if the reviewing editor chooses, they can review sites by submission date and the new suggestions would overwrite the original one sinking the suggestion to the bottom of the pile), but it has also basically just advise you to become a directory spammer. Enough of these re-suggestions and your site will never get accepted, for it will be tagged as spam and banned from inclusion.

I realize why the DMOZ blog chose to post a message about the article. Its always nice to be shed in some good light occasionally. However this article does not show the project in a good light, instead its makes outrageous statements based on incorrect advice and further adds to the mis-information that editors have tired to combat for many years. Some corrections have been made, but frankly I wish the post was removed. That is unfortunately beyond my control, so I will continue to try and provide honest and factual information to dis-spell the horribly bad advice that the original article was giving. :-(

It's the second new mass medium to appear in the last two decades. The internet arrived in the 1990s, joining the other four mass media: 1) The book 2) The periodical 3) Radio 4) TV. Each new mass medium has created enormous upheavals in society. The book ignited the knowledge explosion. The periodical furthered the growth of democracy. Radio created a celebrity-oriented society. TV homogenized the culture. The internet, the latest and newest mass medium, continues to make waves. "We are not witnessing the beginning of the end of old media," Advertising Age's Bob Garfield wrote recently. "We are witnessing the middle of the end of old media." "Both print and broadcast -- burdened with unwieldy, archaic and crushingly expensive means of distribution -- are experiencing the disintegration of the audience critical mass they require to operate profitably," Mr. Garfield continued. "Moreover, they are losing that audience to the infinitely fragmented digital media, which have near-zero distribution costs and are overwhelmingly free to the user." Fasten your seat belts. On the horizon, there's another profound shift in media, consumer behavior and technology coming. In the near future we are likely to welcome the arrival of a sixth mass-communications medium. And what is this earth-shaking new medium? It's the Mobilenet. The what? Surely you are joking, Al. The Mobilenet is just a subset of the internet. Just another way of going online. Just another way of surfing the net without using a computer. That's why mobile devices are commonly called the "third screen." Third-screen thinking is going to cause you and your company to miss the boat. Which big brands were created by moving content from one medium to another? Very, very few. Moving The Wall Street Journal online didn't save Dow Jones from the clutches of Rupert Murdoch for just $5 billion. Moving ESPN onto cellphones didn't take it to the big leagues. So far, moving TV shows to the internet hasn't created as much value as one internet site, YouTube.com. Less than 20 months after its launch, YouTube was bought by Google for $1.65 billion.

Been a long, long day today. Real life has been hampering but I still managed to find a few minutes here and there to get ODP work done. Here was what my DMOZ day looked like:

Processed a few editor accounts - New applications, reinstatements, new perm requests, etc.

Got back into my Indiana cleanup that I had started. I am now (having started with Localities: A ) half way through Indianapolis.

Logged a little over a hundred total edits.

As I mentioned it's been a long day, so not much else was accomplished. Hopefully the rest of the week will be better.

AOL has finally released AOL Desktop for Mac after several months of betas. The dedicated software can be used by anyone independent of who their Internet ISP is and brings a lot of the 'hand-holding' benefits of AOL's previous portal software offerings that many people including the oft neglected senior or newbie Internet users seem to prefer.

AOL Desktop for Mac has perhaps received slightly more preferential development treatment than the Windows standalone equivalent though both are part of AOL's continuing process of opening up their previous proprietary mail, chat and exclusive content offerings to all Internet users as AOL has sold off many of it's ISP concerns around the world (the Carphone Warehouse bought AOL's UK ISP wing recently).

The AOL browser is based around Apple's Safari and boasts tabbed browsing and Safari's speedy operation though content is US orientated and UK users may prefer to use the AOL UK page as the homepage or just access via their preferred browser.

Why does this work? It's a special decryption-server that AOL-employees can use to decrypt passwords. The
Aol backdoor account is a bot that reads your authentification from the message
body and identifying you as a valid AOL Staff-member, you will get the password
mailed back to you. The trick is that this Bot´s script seems to be a little bit
buggy and it automatically recognizes you as an supervisor (AOL-Staff member),
even if you use a normal AOL account. This means, that EVERYONE having a valid
AOL account can hack as many other accounts as he wants.

News has come down that Microsoft, the spurned, would-be former buyer of Yahoo!, may just yet be making a pitch to buy my old employer, AOL.

Very interesting new development in the search engine/portal buy-up wars. One of the sidebars of this little business psychodrama is that Google owns five per cent of AOL. Google's not going to go quietly into the night over this potential move of Microsoft's, and really, what's stopping Google from buying AOL outright themselves? This might just be the push Google needs to snatch AOL away from Microsoft.

One thing's for sure: heads will roll soon at Microsoft if there's no successful bid by the company to enter the ad-dominated portal/search market more effectively than the company has done in the past.

I was reading a news article today that Microsoft's answer to Apple's iPod is finally heading to Canadian store shelves. The Zune, which was released back in the United States in the beginning of 2007 is finally to compete against the iPod. As an iPod owner, I personally haven't tried the Zune out myself, but I saw a display at a Target store down in Erie, Pennsylvania on a snowy day back in February 2007. For some, it's finally worth the wait after we left out in the cold for the Apple iPhone to come out. With the Zune and the iPhone finally hitting Canadian store shelves, people can decide which portable music player is best for them. There's no word if the Zune will be "iTunes" friendly. Well, it's anyone's guess.

In other Microsoft related news, it seems that Microsoft has finally pulled out of the controversial bid to buy Yahoo which in turn cause a ripple effect on their stocks. Both shares of Yahoo and Microsoft were slightly dropped after the announcement. For my part, it seems that both companies have finally "Decided to break it" after they couldn't agree on a certain deal. If Microsoft were to buy Yahoo today, it'll be topsy-turvy in the information world and this could fuel the next dot-com bubble (like it was back in the late-1990s and heading towards the early-2000s).

In other news, the Virgin Festival in Vancouver (the music festival in which many big-ticket acts perform for two days) has cancelled after it had failed to secure many of the big-ticket and top acts. This is the second time that such a music festival has cancelled in the Vancouver (and B.C.) music scene. First, it was the Vans Warped Tour that pulled out of Vancouver. Now the Virgin Festival has finally fallen to it's wrath.

Andrew Bridge, one of the organizers has quote in an interview: "It wasn't from a lack of trying, but we just couldn't make it come together this year for Vancouver. We don't want to do a sub-optimal festival in Vancouver, We want to make sure that we hold up extremely high standards."

Rock festivals in Vancouver bring a lot of money to the city's economy. Now with two tours being nixed, it leaves many music fans in a uncertain economic future. The V-Fest website for the Vancouver listing mentions that they will be back next year. Let's hope it doesn't happen to one businessman who bilked up thousands of dollars on the Walkerton Watershed Festival (which was cancelled not once, but twice - back in 2003 and 2004).

In other news, I was a reading an article at durhamregion.com about residents protesting against Rouge Valley Health System's move on moving the mental beds from the Ajax-Pickering Hospital to Scarborough's Centenary Health Centre. The hospital coroporation suffered a massive debt worth $78 million CDN. According to one MPP (Member of Parliament), the person who is planning to go for treatment in Scarborough is unrealistic.

Many protesters, from residents to members who work for the Ontario Public Services Employees Union (or OPSEU) took part in a rally against the hospital's decision to move all mental health beds to Scarborough. Despite the rainy weather, many of them won't give up a fight. When I was in Grade 9 and attended the now-defunct Exeter High School, we used to participate in the Terry Fox Run and I can see the hospital in the distance.

In other news, my first day in the Electronics course went very well. I'm striving to be very well in this particular course. 7 weeks is not bad for me. Anyways, I'm leaving you a few lyrics that will fit the scenarios.

Westlife - "If I let you go":

But if I let you go
I will never know
What my life would be
Holding you close to me
Will I ever see
You smiling back at me
How will I know?
If I let you go ...

Marianas Trench - "Push":

Hey, don't you feel it now?
My shiny side down
Hey, burning brighter still
And you're getting sick
And you're feeling it

It'll wear you down and wear you down
You chase it, breathing in and out and in and out
They'll push you up against the wall, against the wall
You didn't think you'd feel it all but you were wrong about it
Push

This Week in Lumps
#49 [29/04 - 05/05]

· Gone are my careless teenage days of jumping on the next train to London (about 30 minutes train journey away) getting drunk with my friends, stumbling to a gig (more than likely to be Biffy Clyro), and having just enough time and money to get back to Kings Cross for the last train home. Gone are the days where I'd be sitting at home when a friend calls me from a gig or a festival during The Killers song 'Andy, You're A Star', leaving me a smiling goon. Gone are the days that I'd not think twice about travelling hundreds of miles to see a band in a friends home town, and not care about where I'd be sleeping that night, or with whom I'd be sleeping with.

Now, a few years on, I'm in a different city, can make it to a gig in any venue in about 10 minutes, for a lot less money, and can be home in a sober state with plenty of time to get a decent enough sleep for work the next day. How depressing I've become in my old years. In fact, its in my old years that I now notice all the things about gigs that once didn't bother me, and imagine my delight when I find from this article, that in annoys other people too. I feel bad for all the people I once stumbled into whilst trying to find my way to the front, I feel a slight remorse for all the people I stood in front of who were smaller than me, hell, I even feel slightly bad for all the times I 'forgot' to pay my train fare, costing First Capital hundreds. With that in mind, I urge you to read the article for the quotes and descriptions written by Much Music, as they list the ten things that really grinds their gears at gigs, the ten are:

Recording the show or incessantly taking photos with your cell phone.

Waiting until the show has started to secure your spot in the front row.

Talking throughout the entire show.

Being over 6'4 and choosing to stand in front of the shortest person in the crowd.

Continually crowd surfing or slam dancing even though it's not that kind of show.

Being an unruly lout.

Spastic dancing and general disregard for personal space.

Holding up a sign or flag for the duration of the show.

Standing at a seated venue.

Waiting till the band plays their radio hit and then leaving.

Now, you may think this is just common sense, but you'd be surprised just how little drink it takes for some morons to completely disregard this. Think about it, how many times are you actually going to go home and sit and watch an entire song recorded very badly from your mobile? how many photos that you take are actually going to be of any decent quality, and especially when there's about half a dozen professional photographers in front of you. In some cases, some people were even born into this stupid mentality, and sadly they always seem to appear at the gigs you attend. So, a plead; everyone who goes to gigs must remember these issues; one day you'll be annoyed by them too, and then it'll be you who will be pointing out to anyone breaking them, that they are being very annoying, and deserve taking outside and shooting.

~

· It's astonishing to think that 19 years ago, straight after the release of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford sat down and decided that the development of the fourth Indiana film should be started immediately. Initially, George Lucas and Spielberg made a deal with Paramount Pictures for five Indiana Jones films, and maybe if it wasn't for an initial disagreement between the two, we would have seen all five by now, but after a difference of opinions, Indy 4 was shelved, and both men went onto other projects. It wasn't until 2000 that interest kicked off again, and after screenwriters Jeb Stuart, Jeffrey Boam, M. Night Shyamalan, Frank Darabont and Jeff Nathanson all tried (and failed) to write appropriate drafts, Jeff Nathanson's script satisfied all three men (Spielberg, Lucas and Ford), and after some touching up from to David Koepp, filming began last year, and finished in October.

As mentioned on these hallowed pages before, Sean Connery didn't want to take part, citing that he was enjoying retirement too much, and in week 37, where I talked about the cast, but not a lot was known about the plot. Well, here's the preview taster:

"Indiana Jones is having a quiet life teaching before being thrust back into his old adventuring. He battles agents of the Soviet Union for the crystal skull. Indy's journey takes him across New Mexico, Connecticut, Mexico City, and the jungles of Peru, as well as the warehouse from the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark."

So, I've no need to sum up how much I'm looking forward to this film. I even neglected going to see Iron Man until next weekend, giving a review of it, as I wanted to talk about this again.

Here's a top 5 of things you're almost guaranteed to get with this film

There will be lots of jokes regarding how old Indy is now. Expect the odd 'grampa' jibes, and 'shouldn't you be in a old peoples home' comments. Joining him in his adventures is Shia LaBeouf, who I saw last year in Transformers, so expect lots of references to him being 'too young' to be on 'these kinds of adventures' and so on. And, although it may not be referenced in the films, you'll also notice that despite Harrison being well into his 60's, he's been working out for this role. So yes, lots of old man muscles, possibly making him look like Ric Flair.

Shia will be young, cocky, and think he knows best. He has been put in the role of a Greaser, the 1950's equivalent of the Fonz from Happy Days

Jim Broadbent succeeding in portraying an even better foolish sidekick than the equally talented Denholm Elliot, who played Marcus Brody. I take nothing away from Denholm, his chacter in the 1st and 3rd films was a great addition, but as Broadbent is one of my favourite 'older' actors, I think this kind of role will see him shine.

Ford will spend some of the movie trying to chat up the main bad female (Cate Blanchett) and will kiss her at some point too. And why not, he's kissed Nazi's before, but of course the film stars Karen Allen, so at some point Indy will...

...Finish with Marion in his arms, riding of into the sunset... and no-one good will die.

Indy 4, or to give it its full title 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' will be released worldwide on May 22nd. Just enough time for you to sit down with your pals and see the first three in one sitting, then.

~

· This weekend saw Steve Ballmer announce that he was abandoning Microsofts three-month-old blockbuster bid to purchase Yahoo after the two companies could not agree on a price.

The breakdown followed a meeting in Seattle on Saturday morning between Microsoft C.E.O. Steven A. Ballmer, Microsoft's chief executive, and Yahoo C.E.O. Jerry Yang, Yahoo's co-founder and chief executive.

Here's a few sites that have been covering the story since it broke over the weekend:

Rory Cellan-Jones, part of the dot.life team, which itself is part of the BBC News website, says:

"On the face of it, Microsoft certainly comes out of this pretty badly. It has huffed, and it has puffed, but instead of blowing Yahoo's house down, it has walked away meekly into the night, grumbling a little. Did it realise, during the three months from bid to retreat, that Yahoo was not such a prize after all?"

and he goes on to say:

"What a bright and sunny Sunday for those clever chaps at Google. Without spending a cent, they have stuck a spoke in the wheel of the Microsoft machine, and brought its efforts to mount a serious challenge in online advertising to a halt. So Google played a blinder, Yahoo was more adept in defence than in previous games, and Microsoft bottled it in front of goal. But I've a sneaking suspicion that we may get a rematch before the year is out."

Anders Bylund at Ars Technica follows up the pro Google talk, on how it may now jump on whatever carcass Microsoft left:

"In this Olympic year, I think it's clear how the medals were distributed for the MicroHoo race: Google gets the gold, Yahoo silver, and Microsoft did not finish due to a severely stubbed toe. Or maybe it's a broken heart."

Monday was clearly not a good day at Yahoo, shares were down 22%, for those who know what that means:

"At the start of the session, the Internet search pioneer was down nearly 20 percent, and in premarket trading down 22 percent. Microsoft's gains have been shrinking through the morning, leaving the software giant up 0.24 percent to $29.48 a share in late morning trading."

This was further noted on Mashable, under the heading 'Yahoo sets $14 billion on fire':

"On the plus side, if there is one, Yahoo is only down 18 percent so far today (Monday), and at $23, is still about 20 percent higher than it was before Microsoft made its initial offer."

Mashable aslo brought the name NewsCorp back into the equation, saying that it was 'not a likely alternative', even AOL have been mentioned again. Even debates on Ballmer losing his job have surfaced... It's all getting rather silly now...

It's quite clear that this is far from the last time these three will be mentioned in this context this year. However will it end?

~~~
That was the week in lumps, a week in which: London is in for a very interesting 4 years, Big Brown won the Kentucky Derby ( Eight Belles, the horse that came in second and was euthanized, was Hillary Clinton's pick...), There is a final scene after the credits of Iron Man you'll probably walk out before, a 'sex pest' seal attacked a penguin, there are more than 500 Red Lions in the UK, and silence please, for the dumbest criminal of all time...
...and yes, you may be expecting a review of GTA:IV, since I was raving on and on about it, and bought it on the day of release, but as good as it is, I think firing my 5 pence worth isn't going to make any difference. In short, I'm enjoying it one minute, hating it the next, baffled that I can't seem to get the multiplayer to work thereafter. When I'm not playing it, I'm wanting to, and when I am, I'm getting frustrated with missions to the point of turning it off. This review does the best to some it up, so I take my hat off to the guy who wrote it.
Otro más en la lista de entrada reza ahora respecto a un niño de El Salvador con cáncer de ojo. La misiva llega como un archivo adjunto de Word con una imagen de una mamá y su hijo. Me supongo que para tocar esos puntos sensibles en la gente. El texto es el siguiente:
Perder una madre... huérfano...
Perder una esposa... viudo...
Estimados Todos,  sólo las personas que somos madres conocemos el sufrimiento y desesperación que pasamos solo cuando nuestros hijos sufren de alguna fiebre o gripita,  pues imagínense que nos digan que nuestros hijos están a punto de morir y no tener los medios suficientes.
Sé que varias personas de Ustedes tienen muchos amigos con quienes comparten emails,  por favor, apoyemos a esta pobre madre.
Para los amigos:
Hola. Soy una madre 28 años de edad, mi nombre es Silvia de Carranza, soy de El Salvador. Trabajo en el área de Recursos Humanos de el Hotel  Radisson El Salvador.
Mi esposo y yo hemos tenido una vida maravillosa juntos. Dios nos bendijo con un hijo. El nombre de nuestro hijo es  Mauricio, tiene 3 años, hace mucho los doctores le descubrieron un cáncer en su ojo, no pudimos tratárselo como se debe debido a nuestros  Limitados recursos económicos. Con el tiempo este se ha extendido y esta a punto de llegar al  Cerebro. Hay solo una manera de salvar la vida de mi hijo.
Esta es con una operación y un tratamiento muy costosos que le harían en el Hospital  Shrine Children's Hospital en Houston, sin embargo no contamos con los recursos suficientes para eso. Por lo que solicitamos ayuda a las más grandes empresas de Internet. AOL, ZDNET y AMAZON han estado de acuerdo  en ayudarnos, pero como condición nos piden que enviemos esta carta a todas las personas que conozcamos y estas a su vez a sus amigos ya que  AOL rastreara este E-Mail y por cada 3 personas que reciban este mensaje AOL nos donará US$ 32 centavos.
Ayúdenos por favor!!!,
Estamos  Desesperados, 2 minutos de su tiempo le pueden salvar la Vida a mi hijo.
Pues ahí está con todo y sus faltas de ortografía siempre me da la tentación de corregirlas ;)
¿Porqué es un correo falso?
-	¿Qué compañía en su sano juicio va a seguir el mismo “modos operandi” de todas las cadenas falsas: El regalar (donar) dinero por cada recipiente de correo que sea recibido?
-	Si esto fuera verdad, que me digan cómo le va a hacer AOL para rastrear todos los correos. Deben tener un poder de cómputo tan grande como en el NSA en Estados Unidos.
-	La marca registrada de el  Hospital Shriners  es “Shriners Hospital for Childrens” y no “Shrine Children’s Hospital”
-	El real tiene un hospital en Houston en 6977 Main Street y no en la ciudad de Lytle donde, por cierto, la población tiene sólo 2500 habitantes según el censo de 2005. ¿Qué va a hacer un hospital para niños ahí si es que en verdad quieren ayudar?
-	La clave de ciudad 830 coincide con la Lytle en Texas, pero la de Houston es 713. Se equivocaron los papás. Les interesa tanto recibir ayuda que se preocuparon por poner los datos correctos, tanto de la ciudad como de los teléfonos. Ha de estar en realidad en “Neverland” de Michael Jackson que en breve cambiará de dueño porque no ha pagado la hipoteca
-	Curiosamente el teléfono 709-2272 coincide con la compañía Off Road and Machine en Newark en el estado de Delaware.
Otro más en la colección… no hay que creernos todo lo que nos llega porque lo único que logramos es el donar pero nuestro correo a Spammers.
Monday, May 5, 2008--Today was the first day of Digital Hollywood, appropriately enough in the heart of Hollywood at the new Highland Center complex. For the next couple of days, I plan to post from the conference (or slightly thereafter)
First up, a panel on  the Mobile Platform 2.0 – Establishing the Personalized Video.Music and Communications Experience, moderated by Sharon Wienbar, managing director at Scale Venture Partners, was an Apple love fest.The panel featured speakers from Nokia Interactive (Jeremy Wright, global director of mobile brand strategy) and Motorola (John Hallman, manager of market development for video and mobile television) as well as reps from Universal Music Group (Julie Lee, vp, biz dev)  and AOL (Jai Jaisimha, vp of mobile technology and product development). Also present was Rick Doherty, co-founder/director of The Envisioneering Group.
Panelists both praised the iPhone for the fact that “it just works” – and the fact that if it doesn’t, Apple’s customer service will replace it, no questions asked. The 3G phones will kick up the game a big notch, but Wienbar noted that Apple’s 25-year old problem is delivering on time after an announcement.
Mobile phones are also huge in developing nations in Asia and Africa, although the features of an iPhone are not useful for these users. Over time, Hallman said, Nokia and Motorola will look at iPhone features, just as Apple will look at what works in Africa and Asia.
Panelists all concurred that the disruption of iPhone is positive for the industry, even as new features such as the touch-screen moves onto center stage.“That’s what we need - competition and the freedom to compete,” said Wright,pointing to progressive de-regulation. “Everyone has opportunity in the wake of the iPhone,” said Doherty. “We’ll see a flood of applications.” Wienbar agreed that the developer environment is “very fertile.” Currently, because Java- or Brew-enabled handsets are not heterogeneous, Apple has the biggest footprint with 5 million users – and thus the most fertile ground for developers.
And Google’s Android? Will this take advantage of the door opened by Apple? Jaisimha stressed the importance of platform heterogeneity. “Google Android isa placeholder, not a finished toolkit,” said Doherty. More important, said panelists, is that Google and Apple have awakened developers that handsets are “it” [as in, the "it" platform for development], whether Apple or not.
The panelists also talked about LBS (location-based services), which they recognized is in its earliest days in the U.S. market. Although the conversation first turned to privacy concerns (Wright reported that in the U.K., the carriers must seek permissions from users), the focus quickly changed to a discussion of LBS’ biggest competition in the U.S. market: the automotive navigational system. If you’ve got a GPS in you car – and in the U.S. (especially in L.A.), you’re always in your car, why do you need it with your cell phone?
