A few weeks ago I picked up the newest from King Khan, this time backed by The Shrines. While my favorite record of his to date is his more garagey "duet" with BBQ Show, this latest effort, The Supreme Genius of King Khan & The Shrines, is a spectacular diversion that features a backing horn section and organ. Several songs from King Khan's 2007 import release as well as even older tunes are given new treatment here, including my current personal anthem, "Welfare Bread." It's a cool idea for the Indian-French-Canadian singer to just re-record the songs instead of re-releasing them straight up for this domestic "greatest hits" offering on Vice. Fans of the Dap-Kings take note; this sound is equally legit.

On the hole I don't enjoy Destroyer's new album, Trouble in Dreams, more than his previous release, Destroyer's Rubies. But this particular song is just fucking awesome. It begins with a classic Yo La Tengo-styled vamp before building to an amazing atmospheric bridge. What a great tune.

Destroyer — "My Favourite Year"

I've only listened to the new Brightblack Morning Light album a couple times, and so far it hasn't grabbed hold of me quite in the same way their Matador debut of two year's ago did. But this song encapsulates their hippie-psych-soul sound to a T. The dreamy piano and organ melding together with sax and high hat. And the dual vocals of Nathan Shineywater and Rachael Hughes backed by accompanying singers. Delicious.

Brightblack Morning Light — "Oppressions Each"

The new No Age record, Nouns, is more song-oriented and generally less caustic than their debut. It's also considerably rooted in the '90s, to my ears at least. While their noisy debut had hints of pre-Slanted and Enchanted Pavement, this record reminds me much more of British band Boyracer. This song, however, is total My Bloody Valentine bombast, and I love it.

No Age — "Sleeper Hold"

TV on the Radio's new record is so good and so approachable, which surprised me. For example, I found myself taken aback by the funk guitar on this track. So. So. Good.

I leave you with a couple forthcoming releases due to drop a week from today. I doubt I'll buy Megapuss' debut on Vapor (Neil Young's label). The duo of Devendra Banhart and Greg Rogove have provided some comic relief with their live performances, and the two songs I've heard from Surfing are enjoyable enough, but hardly necessary.

Like Devendra, Antony and the Johnsons is an artist that doesn't leave much room for gray area; you either love him or hate him. I loved his 2005 debut, such a strange and moving piece of music, for the Secretly Canadian label. His new record seems to be in line with his last, as the other song I've heard from it is an emotive piano ballad. This song, however, is a lot different. The first half is essentially acapella, before Antony is joined by drums and skronking sax. Interesting.

Antony Hegarty, líder do Antony & The Johnsons, tem uma das vozes mais lindas que já ouvi. Tudo que ele canta parece tornar-se irremediavelmente triste, perdido, derradeiro. Seu primeiro álbum, Antony & The Johnsons, traz composições maravilhosas, como Hitler in My Heart, Twilight, Cripple and the Starfish e Atrocities. Dull Flame of Desire é baseada em uma tradução de um poema de Fyodor Tyutchev, que aparece no filme Stalker, de Andrei Tarkovski. O vídeo do single foi lançado nesta semana, e a idéia conceitual do início (que brinca com as imagens das estrelas) vale a pena, embora no final o vídeo se perca um pouco.

Vous voyez, ce matin en me réveillant, d'une humeur plutôt correct, j'ai lu que les Babyshambles allait sortir un troisième album et me voilà, d'humeur maussade. Car, si vous aussi, vous avez entendu dire que Carl et Pete avait fait un mini concert ensemble et que ca c'était bien passé, vous comprenez ma déception. Pas que je sois une fan transi des Libertines. Puisque soyons claire, je ne veux pas qu'ils se reforment.(allez y, jetez moi des cailloux, même pas mal!)Les deux albums des LIbertines étaient superbes, mais voilà, ils faut que ca reste un mythe. Pour revenir aux Babyshambles, je ne veux plus de ce groupe. Ce concert au Zenith était si décevant que je crois que je ne m'en remettrai jamais. Je ne les ai même pas réécouté depuis ce jour, un peu comme MGMT(ce qui est fort dommage vu la qualité de l'album en lui_même). Bref, j'aimerai bien que Pete Doherty passe à autre chose....mais que puis-je y faire...

Ce pourquoi vous êtes obligés d'écouter cette playlist ?

Le grand événement, c'est bien sur, la mise en ligne du titre Another Way To Die par le duo tant attendu (au tournant) Jack White et Alicia Keys. Si, vous êtes passés par ici, avant, vous avez pu voir que je fus légèrement(même un peu plus que ça) surexcité par ce titre. Donc avant tout commentaire, je voulais encore remercier cette chére Mlle Char lotte pour m'avoir donner le lien et Mlle Hans pour sa généreuse donation de lien zshare(voir dans les commentaires). Il ne faut pas oublier que Another way To Die, c'est avant tout une chanson de James Bond, d'ailleurs Jack à dis ceci. Donc, on est un peu obligé d'attendre la sortie du film pour constater la véritable ampleur de la chose( 31octobre). Les paroles peuvent être lu sur le forum d'allociné.Bon, je ne vais pas y aller par 4chemins (pourquoi pas 6 ou 7chemins..personne ne la jamais su) : c'est de la bombe. Bien sur, Jack White est maître dans cette histoire, il a en effet écrit et composé cette chanson, en plus de jouer de la batterie(oui, il faut rappeler que c'est comme même lui qui a appris a Meg White à jouer de la batterie) et de chanter. Alicia Keys a vraiment une voix superbe, même moi, je ne pourrais pas le nier. Le duo est surprenant et très excitant par ce mélange (même si je trouve que la voix d'Alicia Keys n'est pas vraiment mise en valeur) de deux styles assez différents. Enfin, je vais vous dire, ce titre est MAGIQUE! Pour conclure, lisez ça, et ça.
J'ai craqué, j'ai pris le dernier Oasis. D'habitude, je n'écoute pas sérieusement les albums de Oasis, car il faut être honnête c'est un petit peu toujours la même chose, mais là, je ne sais pas, serait-ce la pochette, ou le nom, je l'ai religieusement engloutie. Je ne suis pas une fan inconditionnel donc je passerais sur les comparaisons inter-albums. Donc, dans espoir d'être le plus neutre possible, cet album est superbe.C'est très pop par endroit , mais ça a son charme; le rock règne bien entendu. Enfin, je vais réécouter ça pour me faire une meilleure idée. Mais pour l'instant, c'est plutôt positif. Ce titre est pour moi le plus réussi...mais c'est bien subjectif.
Et, oui, nos cher Cajun Dance Party sortent ENFIN du neuf. Ils ont toujours eu le chic d'être tres généreux et de nous filer toutes les nouvelles démos. Moi fan, je suis comblée. C'est vrai que ca ne change pas beaucoup, mais moi j'aime ça, je n'aime pas que les artistes prennent trop de risque perdant parfois leur propre signature qui faisait leur qualité. Les CJD, c'est les Kooks du bon coté de la force. J'ai toujours été amoureuse de Yoda.
Pour être franche, la première fois que j'ai écouté cette reprise, j'ai trouvé que c'était du gros n'importe quoi; comme a chaque fois que j'écoute un nouveau M.I.A..Puis on s'habitue, quelques écoutes plus tard, on est des accros. Bref, c'est différent, c'est imaginatif, créatif, superbe, brillant : Bref, super cool si vous voulez mon avis.
Quelques nouvelles chansons de Spoon trainent sur le net, toutes versions live pour l'instant. Ca ne me déçoit pas du tout, ca donne même l'eau à la bouche. C'est dingue comment cette voix a un effet hypnotisant...je suis désormais a l'affut d'un album leaké...Ps: je suis la seule à trouver que la voix ressemble à celle de Benjamin de La nouvelle star?
Je fus tenté de mettre une autre chanson extraite du EP de Antony & the Johnsons, puisque je l'ai en ma possession, mais je trouvais ça assez mesquin de ma part et très hautain (même si avoir préciser que je l'avais me procure une sensation vil et perverse qu'est la fierté et l'orgeuil.). Bref, on s'en fout tout le monde là et si vous ne l'avez pas, le résumé sera : lent et triste.Bref, je mets comme même Shake That Evil comme tout le monde, car c'est tout simplement la meilleure et tout le monde a raison. Très jazzy, très folk aussi. C'est calme mais entrainant, triste mais avec sourire au coin. Enfin, c'est beau, poétique presque. Enfin, n'abusons pas, c'est une très bonne chanson point barre.
Je ne voulais pas vraiment la postée, car tout le monde l'avait déjà fait mais je m'en fou un peu, cette chanson est vraiment superbe et plus elle sera écouté, plus on lui rendra hommage. Car, ce mélange est tout simplement fabuleux. C'est pour cela que certains font de la musique....en espérant que tous aient le même but.
Encore une des chansons du nouveaux Oasis. Rien à ajouté de particulier. Je tenais tout de même à dire que beaucoup on trouvé cet album de Oasis assez nul....enfin....soyez avertis
Little Joy étant le nouveau groupe de Fab Moretti(The Strokes...au cas où leur looonguuue loooonnnguuueee absence aurait provoqué une amnésie), je devais lui réservait une petite place ici. Après, vous dire que cela ma transcendé serait un peu malhonnête de ma part. c'est bon, sympathique, cocotier et surfeur, mais c'est pas la grande révolution. J'y prend plaisir malgré tout. Commencer une journée avec ceci, vous donne un sourire radieu(tel que celui du petit Fabrizio :) )
On finit, toujours plus en douceur avec cette jolie reprise, folk à l'honneur pour la fin de cette playlist.

ps: je suis désolé, trois mois sans cours et ca y est je ne sais plus faire des phrases construites et corrects...

är en salig blandning. Jag fortsätter på den något tråkiga men vägvinnande alfabetiska arbetssättet och hamnar då på:

36. Antony and the Johnsons - I Am a Bird Now

som är en fantastiskt bra skiva, väldigt speciell. Sångaren Antony Hegarty har ett helt eget uttryck och sjunger med ett härligt vibrato. Men jag kan tänka mig att det är så att man antingen älskar honom eller tycker att det är skräp. Skivan var dock en framgång så uppenbarligen finns det många som är positiva. Jag hörde honom första gången när vi stod i kön till Gotlandsbåten. Vi lyssnade på P3 som sände nån special. Jag hade då läst åtskilliga hyllningar av skivan och när jag nu äntligen hörde bitar av den kunde jag stämma in i hyllningskören. Den här skivan gick varm hemma när vi väntade dottern. Den var till och med med på BB.

37. Apples In Stereo - Fun Trick Noisemaker

Hur den här skivan kom i min ägo vet jag inte riktigt. Förmodligen hade jag hört namnet i nåt sammanhang och bestämde mig för att kolla upp dem. Det är fin skiva. Bra, men utan att lyfta riktigt. De spelar en typ av musik som jag gillar rent intellektuellt - det är finurligt och fyndigt, men det stannar liksom där. De talar inte till skrevet så att säga. Inte tillräckligt för att rycka tag ordentligt med andra ord. Gruppen var med och grundade det inflytelserika Elephant 6-kollektivet. Troligen var det den referensen som fick mig att bli intresserad av dem. Det är säker kvalitetsstämpel.

38. Arab Strap - Philophobia

Ytterligare en skiva som Pop är skyldig till. En bra recension. Jag tror att skivan kom med på årsbästalistan 1998 till och med. Den är otroligt jobbig att lyssna på. Det är väldigt dystert och avskalat, ett komp och Aidan Moffats mumlande sång (med trevlig skotsk accent). Texterna handlar om uppfuckade förhållanden, otrohet, kukar som varit lite varstans och om vilka jävliga varelser kvinnor är. Är man på rätt humör, d.v.s. nedstämd och deppig så är den här skivan helt rätt. Är man glad och nöjd ska man låta bli att lyssna. "Arab strap" betyder för övrigt pubesring.

39. Louis Armstrong - Swing That Music

Vad kan jag säga? Man ska prova allt. Den här har jag nog aldrig lyssnat på från början till slut. En sån där skiva som kostade typ 20 spänn. Jag var väl lite nyfiken och slog till. Jazz är inte min grej.

40. Ass Ponys - Some Stupid With a Flare Gun

Om Pop var min ungdoms särklassigt främsta inspirationskälla till musik så är min vän Mattias detsamma nu för tiden och har så varit under ett antal år. Den här skivan är ett tips från honom. Året kan ha varit 2002 eller nåt sånt och det var nog ungefär vid den här tiden som Mattias seglade om mig ifråga om att konsumera musik. Sen dess har jag fått kämpa för att hålla jämna steg med honom. Och en mängd trevliga upptäckter har varit resultaten av hans tips.

Den här skivan tillhör skaran av bra skivor som saknar det lilla extra. Jag lyssnade på den ett tag när den var nyinförskaffad men jag tog aldrig upp den i min kanon. Skivan innehåller dock två favoriter - låtarna Magnus och X-tra Nipple. Den förstnämnda tror jag de flesta förstår varför jag har fallit för. Den senare kan jag förklara genom att länka hit.

41. Burt Bacharach - The Best of Burt Bacharach

Jag är väldigt svag för Burt Bacharachs kompositioner. Han har skrivit ett knippe helt fantastiska poplåtar och alla finns de med på den här samlingen. Problemet är bara, vilket jag inte visste när jag köpte skivan, att skivan är nästan helt instrumental. Tråkigt att bli blåst på sånginsatser av bland andra Dionne Warwick.

Blandbandet kommer här. Jag skippar jazzen. Jag vet helt enkelt inte vad jag ska välja från den skivan. Dessutom finns det många låtar från andra skivor som jag redan har avverkat som förtjänar sin plats på ett blandband. Jag tar mig friheten att blanda ganska friskt hädanefter.

The video was directed by 3 directors who were all selected by Bjork after she viewed their submissions for the video contest for "Innocence". The duo shot the video behind a green screen and then let the directors make the video with the footage.

Antony Hegarty and his band (Antony & The Johnsons) have finally released the details for their much anticipated EP, Another World.

Set for release on October 7th, Another World includes five tracks, opening with "Another World," followed by "Crackagen," "Shake That Devil," "Sing For Me," and "Hope Mountain."

On the EP, "Antony sings of a disappearing world."

This EP is a preview of their full length due in January, The Crying Light.

Recently, Antony has been working with the likes of Bjork and Hercules and the Love Affair. Most notably, Antony was in the Leonard Cohen documentary, I'm Your Man.

Elegy, oda a la intimidad

Adoro a Isabel Coixet. Me enamoré de Mi vida sin mí y La vida secreta de las palabras muchos meses antes de verlas. En la segunda, quizá gracias a Antony, cuya preciosa Hope there's someone sonaba en el trailer. El caso es que cuando las conseguí ver, en DVD, desesperado, no me decepcionaron. De hecho, vi mi amor incrementado. Me hipnotizó la sensibilidad, los personajes, la música, la belleza, la historia...

Y gran parte de ello es lo mejor de Elegy, el primer encargo hollywoodiense de la directora catalana. No la historia, de acuerdo. Una premisa no demasiado interesante, que nos presenta a uno de esos viejos que se niegan a madurar, que se enamora de una alumna joven y atractiva. Si no fuera por quien la firma, dudo que la hubiera visto en mi vida.

Pero más allá de la trama, la Coixet nos ofrece varios regalos: escenas preciosas, en las que se muestra la intimidad de una pareja, hacen salir al voyeurista que llevamos dentro, al que disfruta con el amor de los demás, y con el sexo (más bien implícito, erotismo romántico). Vemos las caricias, los besos, los susurros y los roces. Los sentimos como si fueran nuestros. Casi poesía visual. Una de mis escenas preferidas, la de la playa, por su belleza visual. Se obvia el muy grato uso de la música por parte de la directora, que se une al trato que le da a la cámara.

Y no olvidemos que esta mujer consiguió conversaciones tan vivas e interesantes entre Sarah Polley y Tim Robbins en una estación petrolífera. En esta ocasión no llega a la altura, pero lo intenta, y destacan las escenas del dúo Kingsley-Hopper, los dos amigos viejales que se cuentan todo, como dos adolescentes locuelas, pero más inteligentes.

En cuanto a los actores, pues todos cumplen su papel. No hay ninguno de ellos que destace ni por exceso ni por defecto, pero se agradece que todos estén creíbles y consigan que empaticemos con sus personajes.

En total, es un proyecto tratado con menos interés y amor que las anteriores películas de Isabel Coixet, y eso se nota. Un encargo, que es algo que no se le da demasiado bien a los directores acostumbrados a su cine de autor. Ahora toca esperar con ganas a esa nueva película que están rodando la Pe y ella, en Tokio, Map of the sounds of Tokyo, que ya es suya absolutli, y eso es siempre una garantía de buen cine.

Lo mejor: que en realidad se nota que es una película de Coixet, y adoro su estilo.

Lo peor: que la historia me interesase tan poco.

KRAFTWERK W HUCIE, ANTONY W WARSZAWIE

Przeglądajacy stale serwisy internetowe już pewnie wiedzą. KRAFTWERK wystąpi na festiwalu Sacrum Profanum w Krakowie we wrześniu! Nie wszyscy jednak wiedzą, że przyjechać mają na aż trzy koncerty (!) dzień po dniu 19, 20 i 21 września, więc szykuje nam się zupełnie niezwykłe spotkanie z różnymi obliczami Kraftwerku, różnymi epizodami z ich działalności, a może jeszcze zupełnie coś innego. Całość nieźle się wpisuje w klimat tegorocznej imprezy, która upłynie pod znakiem niemieckiej muzyki współczesnej. I jeszcze jedna wieść ze źródeł dobrze poinformowanych: koncert będzie miał miejsce w nieczynnej walcowni Huty im. Sendzimira.

Przy okazji:BĘDZIE koncert Antony'ego w Warszawie, tyle że ściąga go ostatecznie PRAWDOPODOBNIE inny promotor koncertowy. Być może nie uchroni to więc wszystkich tych, którzy kupili bilety na zeszłoroczny, odwołany koncert, przed ich oddaniem i zakupem zupełnie nowych. Postaram się dać znać, co i jak. Na razie to i tak dobra wiadomość, bo coś sie w temacie rusza, choć trochę mętna ;-)

Album -- No, Virginia by Dresden Dolls

Dresden Dolls are at first glance, both fascinating and frightening. It's this conundrum that makes it easy to want to like the Brechtian-punk-cabaret duo---just because they're so unique and intriguing. More than a band, Dresden Dolls are an idea, an experience and a noble freak show. The music is a dark, raw and brash statement spoken with a wry smile through voice, piano and drums. Channeling a variety of musical influences, the songs are an unorthodox, unapologetic mixture of sexuality, pain, chaos, loneliness, buried secrets, violence and performance for the sake of performance---art that inspires reaction. It's just up to you to see if that reaction is of fascination or fear or something entirely different.

The album "No, Virginia," is companion to the duo's second full length album, "Yes, Virginia" (titled in reference to an 1897 editorial reply in the New York Sun to a letter about the existence of Santa Claus---"Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus."). The songs are left over from the "Yes, Virginia" recordings, along with b-sides and compilation releases. The duo is releasing a digital version of this album on June 10, 2008. The digital release will feature three bonus tracks. Check for yourself.

Miesiąc z Current 93

Jakiś czas temu wpadłem na pomysł, by szerzej opisać w „Przekroju” twórczość, czy raczej niezwykłą postać, Davida Tibeta. Ale Bartek, obecny wice naczelny, wówczas szef kultury, zaprotestował, zupełnie słusznie dowodząc, że lider Current 93 to persona w naszym kraju niemal zupełnie anonimowa i musielibyśmy mieć naprawdę dobry pretekst, by taki tekst na kolegium przeforsować. I kilka tygodni temu odpowiedni pretekst się pojawił, za sprawą Maćka z Job Karma, organizatora wrocławskiego koncertu Current 93. Dzięki pomocy tego samego Maćka udało mi się porozmawiać z Tibetem parę dni przed wizytą zespołu w Polsce. To była bardzo długa, interesująca rozmowa, która wymagała ode mnie niezłej gimnastyki umysłowej, bo konwersacja z takim dziwakiem i erudytą nawet w języku polskim wymagałaby sporej koncentracji i czujności, a co dopiero powiedzieć o języku Szekspira… Owocem tej rozmowy był duży artykuł w „Przekroju”, szczerze wierzę, że ciekawy nawet dla tych, którzy nigdy wcześniej nie zetknęli się z muzyką Current 93. Uradowany jak rzadko owocem swej pracy, podzieliłem się z artystą kopią artykułu i… dostałem w pusty łeb. Po jaką cholerę się wychylałem?! :-) Artysta raczył mnie bowiem zrugać na okoliczność towarzyszących tekstowi ilustracji. Nie podobało mu się to, zupełnie nie zrozumiał tamtego, ten znak jest kompletnie bez sensu, na tamtym zdjęciu źle wyszedł. Ech…
Nie żebym nie przywykł już do humorów artystów, ale tym razem sprawa była o tyle poważna, że złość Davida przekreśliła moje szanse na zobaczenie londyńskiego koncertu grupy. Biletów w wolnej sprzedaży już bowiem nie było, a asystent Tibeta, zapewne świadom powodów gniewu swojego pryncypała, nawet nie raczył odpowiedzieć na moje pytanie o to, czy dysponuje jakąś dodatkową pulą wejściówek (odpłatnych, a jakże). Pogodziłem się już z tym, że nie zobaczę Current 93 na scenie, nie tym razem. Przeznaczenie widać chciało inaczej. Kiedy grali we Wrocławiu, byłem bowiem w Londynie. Potem pojechali na dwie sztuki do Moskwy, ale ja musiałem być wtedy w Berlinie. Owszem, do Berlina też zawitali, również na dwa koncerty, zaraz po występach w Rosji, ale akurat tamte dwa dni musiałem spędzić w… Moskwie. (o powodach tych moich podróży, związanych z poważnymi zmianami w mym życiu zawodowym, napiszę już wkrótce) Został tylko Londyn. No, ale jak już pisałem, w Londynie bilety dawno wyprzedane.
I tutaj na scenę wkracza dziarskim krokiem kolega Paweł, w pewnych kręgach zwany Grindakiem, od jakiegoś czasu rezydujący w stolicy UK. Do perfekcji opanował metody dostawania się na koncerty na które nie można się dostać, więc sobie tylko znanym sposobem załatwił mi bilet nie dość, że tani (czyli w cenie niemal z przedsprzedaży), to jeszcze w drugim rzędzie! Tak jest, byłem tam! Udało się :-)
O samym koncercie długo rozpisywał się nie będę, bo jeszcze nie ochłonąłem. Spodziewałem się sennych, akustycznych klimatów, raz na pół godziny urozmaiconych jakimś bardziej intensywnym dźwiękiem, a dostałem… uff, to było intensywne! Dziesięcioosobowy zespół (w tym Baby Dee, która zagrała świetny solowy set na otwarcie oraz Andrew WK na gitarze!) najwyraźniej doskonale się bawił, masakrując proste piosenki Current potężnym, niemal metalowym brzmieniem i rozedrganym, psychodelicznym truchtem-kłusem- galopem od wyważonego początku do hałaśliwego finału, który kojarzyć się mógł z Sigur Ros czy Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Choć bosonogi David był nadmiernie pobudzony albo (i?) nieźle podpity, doskonale panował nad ceremonią. Nie skłamię, że doskonale śpiewał, bo tego akurat zupełnie nie potrafi robić, ale tę drobną niedogodność zrekompensowali nam jego goście: Marc Almond („Zaśpiewam wam wiersze rosyjskiego poety, który był dekadentem, alkoholikiem, narkomanem i homoseksualistą. Jak tu go nie lubić?” – chodziło o Erica Stenbocka, niezupełnie Rosjanina, ale nie czepiajmy się szczegółów) i Antony Hegarty (dlaczego tylko jedna piosenka???). W ramach niespodzianki byliśmy również świadkami kuriozalnej improwizacji Current 93 na temat powieści o dandysie w zaświatach, napisanej przez przyjaciela Davida. To wtedy padły słowa po których wybaczyłem mu tę niezasłużoną awanturę o artykuł w „Przekroju”: „Wiecie, mam naprawdę dziwnych przyjaciół. Ale póki co, nie spotkałem nikogo bardziej pretensjonalnego od siebie…”
No dobra, David, nazwijmy sprawy po imieniu. Może i jesteś pretensjonalny, i na pewno jesteś nadmiernie przewrażliwiony na swoim punkcie, ale nie da się ukryć, że zagrałeś jeden z najlepszych koncertów, jakie widziałem w życiu. Dziękuję.

Eens in de zoveel tijd komt er iets op je pad wat om je aandacht smeekt. Je wordt er door gegrepen en het laat je niet meer los. De precieze reden van de aantrekkingskracht verblijft in het duister, maar er zal toch een reden zijn voor de kippenvel op je armen?

Rotterdam, 12 april. Het Motel Mozaïque Festival ergens rond kwart voor acht. Zittend op de grond van de filmzaal, kijk ik naar de film "Lou Reed's Berlin". Een registratie van de intregrale uitvoering van Reed's album "Berlin", opgenomen in 2007. Onbekend met het meeste werk van Reed laat ik mij volledig verrassen. Het is een mooie en goed vormgegeven film. Maar het is niet de rustige Lou Reed, of de sfeer die gecreeërd word door de beelden die mij kippenvel bezorgd. Het is een gastzanger die een duet zingt met Reed. Adembenemend...

Pas dagen later ga ik eens op onderzoek uit. Wie is die man?
Zijn stem geluid is onmiskenbaar. Zijn voorkomen eigenaardig. Een kunstenaar die waarschijnlijk door een aantal mensen als raar en lelijk aan de kant wordt geschoven.
