Wybrałem właśnie to.

Średnia długość życia kobiet to 47 lat, mężczyzn – 42.

[audio http://web.me.com/christian.sparks/Site/Audio_files/Bring%20Your%20Love%20Down%20%28Didn%27t%20I%29.mp3] Yaz - Bring Your Love Down (Didn't I)

That slight misquote of James Murphy's lyric rings with more and more truth every time I repeat it. Which has been six times today. Seven. Eight. Anyway, it makes me wanna set up the old Studer 1" machine that's been lurking in Ovie's basement and some synthesizers and make magic happen. Babies, I put my pants on one leg at a time, just like you, but when I do, I make gold records. Nine.

[caption id="attachment_120" align="alignnone" width="500" caption=""Son, we live in an analog world." - Ovie"][/caption]

The only previous experience I've had with the Studer's eight glorious thirty-inches-of-tape-per-second analog tracks is to simultaneously record Bruce Springsteen's Born In the USA, Phil Collins' No Jacket Required, Dire Straits' Brothers in Arms and Peter Gabriel's So in stereo pairs onto one Ampex master reel. That, my friends, is what free time in college gets you. I mean, it was important. To have those four albums available on command. From a 350-pound tape machine sitting in your living room kitchen.

And, perhaps subliminally/slightly psychotically, there's a Studer-sized empty space in my new kitchen. I've thought about it. WTF. Ten.

Michael Copponex will now quickly point out in the comments section that the correct technique for accurately duplicating the classic Collins track Don't Lose My Number requires actually playing the guitar licks through a corded telephone, into the tape machine. It would appear that I have to call BellSouth (Southern Bell, people) and set something up. Again, reference this for other vital connection info.

I have no idea where any of this has gone and promise to clean up the mess soon.

Diesen bekommt man bereits ab ca. 30 Euro.

Red Lion EPAX06 Panel Meter provides a versatile display that can increase productivity by offering the plant floor or production area a large visual display of their current status. Red Lion EPAX06 panel meters accept various digital inputs and offers the same features as their highly successful PAXP series of panel meter. Additional plug-in cards can add alarms, analog output, and communication/bus capabilities, making the Red Lion EPAX06 panel meter a truly intelligent panel meter.

The Red Lion EPAX06 panel meter is designed to be mounted into a panel or enclosure. By using additional mounting accessories, the Red Lion EPAX06 panel meter can be surface-wall mounted, suspended, or bottom mounted.

MPAX Input Module

The Red Lion EPAX is a display only and will not operate without an MPAX input module. Various MPAX input modules are available which allow the unit to adapt to most any application.

Programming the Red Lion EPAX06 Panel Meter

Since this large display unit is designed to be remotely mounted, the Red Lion EPAX06 panel meter does not have a programming keypad. Programming can be accomplished by one of the following methods:

Rear Terminal Block: External switches can be wired via the terminal block. A minimum of 3 switches would be required.

Optional Programming Remote: The programming remote contains buttons similar to the PAXI and is connected to the display via a 10 foot cable.

Optional Serial Programming: With the addition of an RS232 or RS485 plug-in card, set-up software allows configuration from a PC.

Plug-in Card Options

Each Red Lion EPAX06 panel meter's display can be fitted with up to three optional plug-in cards. However, only one card from each function type can be installed at a time. The function types include:

Four optional plug-in cards provide dual FORM-C relays (5 Amp), quad FORM-A relays (3 Amp) or either sinking or sourcing quad open collector logic outputs.

Plug-in cards also facilitate bus communications. These include RS232 and RS485.

A linear DC output signal is available as a plug-in card. This card provides either 20mA or 10V signals, and the output can be scaled independent of the input range.

Applications for the Red Lion EPAX06 Panel Meter

Remote Flow Meter Monitoring

Totalizing

Alarm Processing

Process Control & Alarm Systems

Also for Digital Models

Turbine Meters

Positive Displacement Meters

Customer Reviews

Works great, has a great feature
Picked up two of these yesterday and I'm very happy with them.

They have one great feature in particular - through the menu you can access a signal strength meter. With the meter on, you can adjust your antenna for the best reception and it tells you the strength as you make adjustments. It takes the guess work out of it!

I have a dvd player with a built in converter on one of our tvs. I temporarily plugged in one of these boxes just to find the best antenna position and now we get several more channels.

The only thing I don't like is the remote. But I plan on programming a universal remote to work the box so I never have to look at their ugly one again.

Patience may be needed
For $9.00 after the government rebate (I bought locally not on Amazon), this converter was a good choice for me. In setting it up, however, I got into an enthusiastic hurry and totally neglected to read the manual expecting a Converter Box to work like a DSL box...., i.e., attach the antennae and TV to the converter, plug TV and converter in and its done. NOT SO with the Digital to Analog Converter box. As per other reviewers, the manual instructions need to be followed. After attaching antennae to box to TV, I followed the instructions to scan in the digital channels but none were available, yet, as per the "no signal" message after fully scanning. Then, turning to manual pages 27 through 29, I learned how to "pass through" to analog channels, an additional few easy steps. Finally, with a bit of rabbit ear adjustment for each channel which is usual to pick-up signals in my area, I was done and the stations are coming in clearer with the converter box than with the antennae alone... NO SNOW. SNOW meant I had NOT quite gotten to the "pass through" instructions or had not taken extra time to hand adjust the antennae after "pass through" was complete... I also found (and haven't quite figured this one out) that I might need to "pass through" for an individual channel if the set-up worked for some but not all the analog channels. Follow the manual, take your time, and the Philco works fine (so far!).

GREAT Analog Pass Through!
The fellow who rated this CECB as bad for analog pass through did NOT read the MANUAL!! You must simply turn on the analog pass through with SETUP. Most say that the picture is actually better than the original signal when pass through is turned on! But slightly less when the unit is turned off. Ergo...don't buy this box if you are a dimwit.

So, I accidentally added an Olympia B12 to my roster of manual typewriters. I say “accidentall

So, I accidentally added an Olympia B12 to my roster of manual typewriters. I say "accidentally" because when I saw it listed for sale, I thought I was looking at a late model Olympia SM9. I've lusted after an SM9 for awhile, even though I'm a Smith-Corona guy, because they are highly regarded amongst typewriter aficionados, and because a number of interesting writers, like Paul Auster, use one. The photo accompanying the ad wasn't very clear, but everything from the general shape of the case to the placement of the Olympia logo suggested a 70s model SM9. The seller was offering two typewriters for one price (the second was some cheap, plastic department store job), and on a whim I asked if he'd take $20 for the Olympia alone. He accepted right away. A steal, right?

I should interject here that the acquisition of a new typewriter is no simple matter for me. Not only does the machine in question have to "speak" to me at some level above its functional purpose, but the whole transaction has to feel right. I've passed on machines because the seller was in the wrong part of town, or wrote emails full of annoying cll phn txt abbrevs. Most recently I passed on a very nice Smith-Corona Skyriter because the seller was a bit of a jerk. He first rejected my offer like I'd insulted him, then suddenly dropped his price a few days later to exactly what I'd offered, but didn't tell me. Clearly it wasn't meant to be mine.

Anyway, the B12 was located in a part of town I typically avoid, but in an easily accessible part of it, and the seller certainly didn't come across as the kind of paranoid meth cooker common to the area. I decided to venture over and take a look. When I arrived at the guy's apartment, I had to duck under a hydraulic lift some window washers were using just to get to the lobby door. Rather than buzz me in, the seller brought the typewriter to the front door (perhaps neighbourhood safety protocol), which left me standing warily under the lift waiting for him. I had no confidence in the two guys trying to operate it; they seemed to be poking at the buttons making guesses. The kid who came to the door was amiable enough, and asked me if I wanted to look it over first, but at that point I just wanted to get out of there. I gave him the cash and scampered back under the arm of the lift like a M.A.S.H. doctor approaching a helicopter.

The typewriter came in a compact hard-shell vinyl case, cleverly designed so the machine nestles snugly in an interior well. It's not much bigger than a standard briefcase. It's also very light, which was my first tip-off that I might not have an SM9. I've never been near an SM9, but everything I've read about them suggests they are a solid piece of machinery. When I opened the case and lifted out the Olympia, it seemed even lighter than our Corsair 700, and the typebars made more of a tinny PING than the sharp, satisfying SNAP of the Corsair. I was very pleased with the condition of the machine, though. The only obvious cleanup it required was a wipe-down and a vacuuming of an abundance of eraser shavings. My inspection soon revealed what I would have seen immediately had I bother to inspect it pre-purchase: a silver nameplate on the back with Olympia B12, Made in Japan stamped in black letters.

Ah well, it was a hasty decision that ignored my usual instincts, but it's not all bad. I'll think of it as my "new" machine, the one that should ensure I'll have a working manual machine for years to come. Now that I've cleaned it up a little bit, I'm growing to like it. It has a friendly face, and produces super-clean copy. It won't be nudging my Clipper off my typing table any time soon, but I think it's the machine I'd turn to if I needed to take a typewriter with me out of the house. All things considered, I have no regrets.

But really, that's enough typewriters now.

Isn't it?

First on mapping the digital domain, the virtual space within the game...

topical - topographic - topological

Wark wrote “In Civilization III, the transformation of space and time, from topic to topography to topology, is an effect of development of the lines with which to mark and manage it. (74)” I am primarily interested in his use of the word line, which uses frequently in reference to progressive understanding the space occupied by the game.

He outlines the steps, or levels, 1 thru 3, and back again. I came to believe that he is referring to starting with an undefined space. Undefined because it is neither mapped nor assigned (socially understood). As the game progresses the space is first understood by its virtual geography, in case of Civilization III mainly elevations. The analog map of an actual Earth is wrapped around and extruded to give a sense of space. The innumerable number of lines connected to represent a space. That would be our first line, or lines, which on the 3D model and the 2D rendering of it outline and give shape to the topic.

By embracing the fantasy and accepting the image as new world when venturing in to the wide and unspoiled territories of this new world the gamer will learn constrains build in to the space, such as where he can go, where he can build, where he should build for his people to prosper, and so on. All those limitations are the next set of lines Wark is talking about, guidelines. As such the space of the game most resembles the real world, as it has a set of unbreakable principles not alike the physics of the real world and socio-economics of western civilization.

A subset of guidelines are straight lines which are not subject to evaluation, either by gamer or game itself, those can represent real limits or thresholds within the game. Those are unique to the game and the space it occupies as far as they are set, preprogrammed, and when reached they set of an equally predictable reaction. Many people would argue that in the real analog life nothing is set in stone, but in the digital life if you choose to play the game, rather than the gamespace, all things are predetermined. Only similarity to life, exists when you play for the first time, and as such you are unaware of the games logic, or topology. The next time you play the same game in the same space the player already has the mental map including all relevant rules and knowledge of all rewards.

Yet gamers play the same game over and over again... Wark said, that they mentally if not physically, skip levels 1 and 2 and approach the game knowing its topology. This time they can re-narrate the previous gameplay. DO the things right the first time, get higher score, or do the things they did get to the first time, or just loiter around since their curiosity as to the story and its rewards has already been satisfied and now they can challenge the game space itself. I guess it does sound appealing, too re-author the past or just explore. But with so many games out there after mapping the game once, I think it would be more exiting to move to a fresh new territory.
