PLOT:

The story is based on the lives of 12th grade students at the DeNobly High School and their adventures, their fears and hopes, their relationships and interactions. Besides that the story also focuses on issues pertinent for the younger generation such as dating, careers, health, exams, causes in a light-hearted manner and many social activities.

The first season of the series more focused on the stars where they were in school flitting through life with joys and sorrows of life as students. But the second season focuses on students lives on campus. Each episode of the series takes you through the year spent by an exciting bunch of teenagers - a year during which they fall in love, and suffer heart-breaks, have problems with their teachers and parents, experience pressures at exam time and so on. Their trials and tribulations are captured poignantly and with rare sensitivity.

The way the teenagers live their lives definetly reminds one thier school and college days,the fun and excitement and the way they helped each other through their problems and how they had thier crushes on teachers. Every character here was a special one and that is what was very good about this show as like others it did not revolve around two or three characters. Here each and every character was given importance.

The first season released in 1996 that showed us about the school life was an instant hit and in no time became a cult show loved by most of the youth and yonger generation then.As a result to this a second season was released in 1999 which showed us about the college life although it did not really live up to its expectations specially after the first season and it was stopped early with no more seasons to it.

There have been quite a few television series after this which has foccused on the younger generation but this one definetly has been one the best.

America?

Since the financial cricis startet in America many have been talking about wether one of the concequences of this cricis will be that America will loose its position in the world as the supreme financial superpower. One of these people is the German foreign minister, who criticises the leaders of the US for having lead a disaterous financial politic.

Eastern Europe?

There is no question that Eastern Europe also will be fleurting with the idea of having a great deal of influence on the world economy. As this part of the world is getting out of the ruins of the communist regime that terrored this area for decades, I am quite sure that it will be an important player. However I doubt that it will be the new supreme financial superpower.

Asia

This is on the other hand where I would put my money if betting about this question. Questions believe that China in 17 years will have an economy comparable to the present in the US. In Asia in general the countries have been leading very cautious financial politics after the financial cricis in that part of the world i the 80'ties.

PROCEED WITH CAUTION. Juga jangan lupa lakukan backup registry sebelum tweaking.
Quote:
Cara Back up registry
start>run>regedit>file>export
kasih nama backup .reg anda klik ok
done

Quote:
* Alerter
* Clipbook
* Computer Browser
* Distributed Link Tracking Client
* Fast User Switching
* Help and Support - (Jika anda mengunakan windows help, maka langkah ini diskip aja)
* Human Interface Access Devices
* Indexing Service
* IPSEC Services
* Messenger
* Netmeeting Remote Desktop Sharing
* Portable Media Serial Number
* Remote Desktop Help Session Manager
* Remote Procedure Call Locator
* Remote Registry
* Remote Registry Service
* Secondary Logon
* Routing & Remote Access
* Server
* Telnet
* TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper
* Upload Manager
* Universal Plug and Play Device Host
* Wireless Zero Configuration -(Jangan didisable jika anda mengunakan Wireless)
* Workstation

Cara mendisable service diatas:

1. Klik start>Run>ketik "services.msc"
2. Dobel klik service yg hendak diubah
3. Ubah startup type menjadi 'Disable"

2. Matikan System restore

1. Buka Control Panel
2. Klik Performance and Maintenance
3. Klik System
4. Klik System Restore tab
5. Klik 'Turn off System Restore on All Drives'
6. Klik 'Ok'

3. Defrag Pagefile
Keeping your pagefile defragmented can provide a major performance boost. One of the best ways of doing this is to creat a separate partition on your hard drive just for your page file, so that it doesn't get impacted by normal disk usage. Another way of keeping your pagefile defragmented is to run PageDefrag. This cool little app can be used to defrag your pagefile, and can also be set to defrag the pagefile everytime your PC starts. To install:

1. Download and Run PageDefrag,
2. kasih centang pada "Defrag at next Reboot",
3. Klik OK
4. Reboot

4. Mempercepat akses Folder - dengan mendisable Last Access Update.

Proceed with caution: Langkah berikut bukan untuk N00bie

1. Start>Run>regedit
2. "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contr ol\FileSystem"
3. Klik kanan di bagian yg kan (cari area yg kosong), lalu pilih 'DWORD Value'
4. Bikin DWORD Value dengan nama 'NtfsDisableLastAccessUpdate'
5. Klik kanan pada value baru terus pilih 'Modify'
6. Ubah data menjadi '1'
7. Klik 'OK'

5. Me-non-aktifkan Microsoft System Sounds
1. Buka Control Panel
2. Klik Sounds and Audio Devices
3. Klik tab Sounds
4. Pilih "No Sounds" dari Sound Scheme
5. Klik "No"
7. Klik "Apply"
8. Klik "OK"

6. Mempercepat waktu Boot
1. Start Menu>Run
2. Regedit
3. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Dfrg\BootOpt imizeFunction
4. Cari "Enable" dibagian kanan regedit
5. Klik "Modify"
6. Pilih "Y to enable"
7. Reboot

Tambahan:

1. Start>Run
2. "msconfig.exe">ok
3. Klik tab System.ini
4. Klik tanda plus pada tab 386enh
5. Klik kotak new kemudian ketik "ConservativeSwapfileUsage=1"
6. Klik OK
7. Restart

8. Mempercepat Loading Windows Menu

1. Start>Run
2. 'Regedit'>OK
3. 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\'
4. Sorot 'WaitToKillAppTimeout'
5. Klik kanan dan pilih modify
6. Ubah value menjadi '1000'
7. Klik 'OK'
8. Sorot 'HungAppTimeout'
9. Klik kanan dan pilih modify
10. Ubah value menjadi '1000'
11. Klik 'OK'
12. 'HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop' sorot WaitToKillAppTimeout'
13. Klik kanan dan pilih modify
15. Ubah value ke '1000'
16. Klik 'OK'
17. 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contr ol\' sorot 'WaitToKillServiceTimeout'
19. Klik kanan dan pilih modify
20. Ubah value menjadi '1000'
21. Klik 'OK'

EDIT: 21 Mei 2006
Quote:

Jika sistem anda cuman 128MB.

Cara mendisable Prefetch
1. start>run>regedit
2. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters\EnablePrefetcher];
3. Dobel klik isi 0 untuk menDisable.
4. reboot.

Booting lebih cepat dengan mengurangi beban Font.
Setiap kali windows booting selalu melakukan loading font2 yg terdaftar di windows. Jika anda bukan desainer grafik, tentu saja ngggak semua font itu digunakan. Saran saya adalah memindahkan font2 di folder lain.
1. Bikin foler baru
2. Masuk ke "Fonts" di Control Panel.
3. Sorot group font yg akan di pindah.

1. start>run>regedit
2. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters\EnablePrefetcher]
3. ada 3 pilihan yaitu 0-Disable, 1-App launch prefetch, 2-Boot Prefetch, 3-Both ("3" adalah yg direkomendasikan).
4. reboot.

1. start>run>regedit
2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager\Memory Management
1.DisablePagingExecutive -dobel klik masukan desimal 1 -

Keeping your pagefile defragmented can provide a major performance boost. One of the best ways of doing this is to creat a separate partition on your hard drive just for your page file, so that it doesn’t get impacted by normal disk usage. Another way of keeping your pagefile defragmented is to run PageDefrag. This cool little app can be used to defrag your pagefile, and can also be set to defrag the pagefile everytime your PC starts. To install:
1. Download and Run PageDefrag,
2. kasih centang pada “Defrag at next Reboot”,
3. Klik OK
4. Reboot
Mempercepat akses Folder - dengan mendisable Last Access Update.
Proceed with caution: Langkah berikut bukan untuk N00bie
1. Start>Run>regedit
2. “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contr ol\FileSystem”
3. Klik kanan di bagian yg kan (cari area yg kosong), lalu pilih ‘DWORD Value’
4. Bikin DWORD Value dengan nama ‘NtfsDisableLastAccessUpdate’
5. Klik kanan pada value baru terus pilih ‘Modify’
6. Ubah data menjadi ‘1′
7. Klik ‘OK’
Me-non-aktifkan Microsoft System Sounds
1. Buka Control Panel
2. Klik Sounds and Audio Devices
3. Klik tab Sounds
4. Pilih “No Sounds” dari Sound Scheme
5. Klik “No”
7. Klik “Apply”
8. Klik “OK”
Mempercepat waktu Boot
1. Start Menu>Run
2. Regedit
3. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Dfrg\BootOpt imizeFunction
4. Cari “Enable” dibagian kanan regedit
5. Klik “Modify”
6. Pilih “Y to enable”
7. Reboot
Tambahan:
1. Start>Run
2. “msconfig.exe”>ok
3. Klik tab System.ini
4. Klik tanda plus pada tab 386enh
5. Klik kotak new kemudian ketik “ConservativeSwapfileUsage=1″
6. Klik OK
7. Restart
Mempercepat Loading Windows Menu
1. Start>Run
2. ‘Regedit’>OK
3. ‘HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\’
4. Sorot ‘WaitToKillAppTimeout’
5. Klik kanan dan pilih modify
6. Ubah value menjadi ‘1000′
7. Klik ‘OK’
8. Sorot ‘HungAppTimeout’
9. Klik kanan dan pilih modify
10. Ubah value menjadi ‘1000′
11. Klik ‘OK’
12. ‘HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop’ sorot WaitToKillAppTimeout’
13. Klik kanan dan pilih modify
15. Ubah value ke ‘1000′
16. Klik ‘OK’
17. ‘HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contr ol\’ sorot ‘WaitToKillServiceTimeout’
19. Klik kanan dan pilih modify
20. Ubah value menjadi ‘1000′
21. Klik ‘OK’
Mengosongkan prefetch
caranya buka kotak dialog RUN, kemudian ketik 'prefetch' (tanpa single quote), dan enter. Hapus semua file yg tampil.

Despite a significant annual growth of 15-20 per cent over the past years, the domestic printing and packaging sectors still experienced several challenges including dependence on imported raw materials, a lack of professionalism and a lack of skilled labourers, said chairman of Viet Nam Packaging Association Nguyen Ngoc Sang.

The chairman also emphasised the need to foster co-operation with foreign firms, especially from Denmark as a move to help local firms enhance their professionalism as well as expand production.

Pham Van Bac, deputy head of the construction ministry’s Department for Construction Materials Management described the event as a good chance for Danish businesses to introduce the latest environmentally-friendly technology into the local building material production, printing and packaging sectors.

Through the event, he said, Danish firms could also study specific demands of the Vietnamese market to discover business opportunities.

Viet Nam was presented as a promising investment destination for Danish enterprises who wished to invest in building materials production due to the country’s soaring demand for construction materials, he said.

The country needs 100 million tonnes of cement, 400 million sq.m of tiles and 200 million sq.m of construction glass by 2020, pursuant to a plan to develop the building materials sector, approved by the Prime Minister.

The sector must be developed into a key industry, both sustainable and environmentally-friendly, according to the plan, which also says all economic entities are encouraged to produce and trade building materials.

During their trip in Viet Nam, Danish businesses will also meet with Vietnamese partners in HCM City and several localities to seek opportunities to set up joint ventures.

Established in 1997, the B2B programme aims to contribute to socio-economic development in Viet Nam by improving the competitiveness of Vietnamese enterprises and support the establishment of business partnerships between the two countries. To date, the programme has given 170 million DKK (US$30 million) and has assisted in the establishment of approximately 100 start-up projects and 110 long-term partnerships. —

HA NOI — The Viet Nam Association of Securities Business (VASB) reports that 70 to 80 per cent of the total 98 securities companies are cutting back operations, reducing the labour force and limiting their activities.

The association attributed the difficulties to poor management and the recent boom of securities companies. High inflation also had an impact, said Nguyen Thanh Ky, general secretary of the VASB.

Ky said that to help securities companies overcome impediments and continue to develop, support from authorised agencies and policy-makers was essential.

VASB requested that the National Assembly and Government temporarily delay levying personal income tax on investors in order to create a stable mid-and-long-term capital mobilisation channel to attract more domestic and foreign investors.

Ky said the number of domestic companies was high compared to other countries and territories in the region, with Thailand at 41, Malaysia 37 and Taiwan 31.

To improve the operation of the securities industry, the Government would need to limit the establishment of new securities companies while strengthening the quality of existing ones, he said.

In response to proposals from the VASB, the chairman of the State Securities Commission (SSC), Tran Thanh Tan, said that authorised agencies had been enhancing inspections on liquidity and risks for securities companies and would further supervise the operation of securities companies.

Tan said stock market transparency must be increased through specific policies and laws.

Authorised agencies needed to conduct their forecasts and warnings in a timely manner and strictly supervise information and transactions released by securities companies, he added.

The Government should also reconsider allowing investors, businesses and individuals to open multiple securities accounts. However, inspection and control should be used to make investor transactions more flexible and help stabilise the market, Tan said.

Nguyen Viet Trung, of ACB Securities, said the Government should research and establish a stock market without a trading band.

The current trading band opens the market to fraudulent activities and counteracts the standard rules of international investors .

Annulling the trading band would make investors more careful, which would gradually bring the stock market back to its real value, said Trung. —

HA NOI — Domestic stock indices fell further yesterday as the global financial crisis worsened.

Large sell-offs compared to limited purchases pushed the VN-Index down another 19.47 points or 4.49 per cent to close at 414.24. Trading volume was around 10 million shares, worth VND355 billion (US$21.5 million).

The southern bourse saw up to 153 losers on the day, with most of them plumbing new depths. Only six codes gained, while five stayed unchanged.

World stock indices tumbled prior to domestic trading amid continuing economic uncertainty by on average 7 per cent in Europe and 4-5 per cent on Asian exchanges, which further frustrated domestic investor sentiment.

The most active stocks were Sacombank (STB), which received orders for 1.65 million shares and Phu My Fertilisers (DPM), with 1.54 million share orders

PetroVietnam Drilling and Well Services (PVD), Hoa Phat Group (HPG) and Vinamilk (VNM) were the next "heavily" traded stocks with 300,000-350,000 units changing hands.

Overseas clients were net buyers, acquiring 2.1 million shares and selling 1.66 million. The net purchase value rose to VND16 billion ($970,000) from Monday’s VND6.64 billion ($402,000).

The northern market meanwhile saw 135 winners and nine losers.

The Ha Noi Securities Trading Centre’s HASTC Index closed 8.4 points or 5.86 per cent lower at 134.98. Trading volume reached 7 million shares with a total turnover of VND211.3 billion ($12.8 million).

Vinaconex Corp (VCG) led the market in terms of trading volume with more than 1 million shares traded, followed by Asia Commercial Bank (ACB) with 790,000 shares and Petroleum Technical Services Corp (PVS) with 680,000 shares changing hands.

Ken Tai Chee Ming, senior securities analyst at Kim Eng Corporation, said global markets had slumped over the last few months, a trend he saw continuing until the end of next year.

The forecast was based on the seriousness of the current crisis and the average duration of crises in the past, he said.

The Government said the global recession had barely touched the domestic economy. However, indirectly there had been a dampening in the finance, currency, commerce, services and foreign investment markets.

"The globally disadvantageous environment will not avert the flow of foreign capital into the domestic market, but it’s likely that the capital influx will become sluggish, with more careful investor consideration," said Ken Tai.

He said the local exchange would have to compete with neighbouring countries’ markets due to the depreciation of shares globally.

Chairman of the State Securities Commission Vu Bang said market regulators were intensifying control on securities companies’ activities to ensure liquidity and to limit market risks.

"Companies in general, and listed firms in particular, need to fortify their risk management, restructure and provide timely information to the public," Bang said. "Business activities are a decisive factor in influencing market moves."

Bang said late last week that the Ministry of Finance had submitted anti-crisis proposals to the Government for consideration. —

HA NOI — A new draft regulation by the State Bank of Viet Nam intends to impose stricter measures

HA NOI — A new draft regulation by the State Bank of Viet Nam intends to impose stricter measures on the formation of commercial joint-stock banks in a move to ensure the effectiveness and stability of the local banking system.

New banks must have charter capital of VND3 trillion (US$180.72 million), while existing joint-stock banks must show they have at least VND1 trillion in charter capital by the end of this year, according to Le Xuan Nghia, director of banking strategy development for the State Bank of Viet Nam.

"The message is clear. That is, to limit weak banks from joining the local market amid increasing concerns about the spreading global-economic turmoil," Vo Tri Thanh, director of the Department for Trade Policy and International Economic Integration Studies under the Central Institute for Economic Management (CIEM), told Viet Nam News yesterday.

A new bank must have at least 100 shareholders, as at present. However, now each institutional founding shareholder must provide equity of at least VND500 billion ($30.12 million).

Moreover, an institution or enterprise that wants to be part of a new bank must show that it has operated its own business profitably for three consecutive years before applying.

"Such capital regulations are really strict, but good," said Nguyen Thanh Toai, Deputy General Director of Asia Commercial Bank, a leading joint-stock bank. He told the Viet Nam News yesterday that many State-owned economic groups had sufficient equity of VND500 billion, but they had been warned not to invest in the banking sector.

He said that setting up the core of a banking system cost at least $4 million alone. Those with such low potential had little chance of surviving.

State Bank expert Nghia said smaller private enterprises had almost no chance of opening a bank with such large registered capital.

Under current regulations, each bank which wants to become a founding shareholder of a new bank must have total assets of VND10 trillion ($625 million), chartered capital of VND1 trillion ($62.5 million), and bad debts of less than 2 per cent.

No institutional shareholder is allowed to hold more than 20 per cent of registered capital in the bank – and the limit is reduced to 10 per cent for individual shareholders.

A financial institution that buys a stake as a strategic investor can hold up to 40 per cent of shares and can acquire even more if the Prime Minister rules it to be in the national interest.

Moreover, in the first three years after the establishment of a bank, shareholders cannot transfer their stake. Founding shareholders are only permitted to transfer stakes to outsiders after five years.

Most of the new proposed regulations will be the same as under current regulations.

The draft proposal also spells out a system of supervision of commercial banks and determines benefits for shareholders.

The checks include several in-house supervisory commissions and nine compulsory reports that must be ratified by the management board.

"The main mission of the management board now is to decide credit operations, shareholder meetings and the dividend divide. It often seems that there is little for them to do.

"Thus, under the new draft, the board will (be busy checking reports) and have no time to intervene in the job of the general director of the bank any more," Nghia said.

A new bank seeking a licence from the State Bank must not only meet the financial requirements, but also adopt risk-management measures in accordance with international standards.

Seeking consultants, meeting procedural requirements and obtaining State Bank approvals may take a new bank nearly 12 months, a senior State Bank official said frankly, but he added that the strict regulations were intended to screen the potential of banks and eliminate in advance fly-by-night financial institutions set up for quick profit.

Too many?

Viet Nam’s banking system now includes five State-owned commercial banks, six joint-venture banks, 36 joint-stock commercial banks, 44 branches of foreign banks, 10 financial companies, 13 financial leasing companies and 998 people’s credit funds.

Since May, two new joint-stock banks have opened up – the Lien Viet Bank and Tien Phong Bank.

Some wonder if the number of banks is too high for a market with a Gross Domestic Product of about $70 billion annually.

But according to Thanh from the CIEM, the most critical issues lie in supervision and risk management.

"Placing conditions on opening new banks is in accordance with World Trade Organisation commitments," he said.

At one period last year, about 25 applications to establish new banks were already on the State Bank’s desk.

To stop the rush, the State Bank tightened conditions on setting up banks by issuing Decision No 24/2007/QD-NHNN on June 7, 2007. However, two months later, the central bank reported having already received 12 applications from mostly large State-owned corporations and domestic financial institutions.

At that time, many believed that high profits reported by the banking industry and the attraction of banking shares on the securities market were tempting provincial authorities and major enterprises across the nation to set up new banks.

However, so far, only two banks (Tien Phong and Lien Viet) have started operation and another, Bao Viet Bank has been approved for a licence.

In August this year, the State Bank once again announced a temporary pause in licensing new banks while it compiled new criteria for setting up domestic joint-stock commercial banks.

The central bank will receive application to open new banks right after the new draft is finished and ratified by the PM. Given that the draft is still in production, observers believe that few new banks will enter the local market in the next few years, especially during global economic turmoil. —
